So I just got my wife an unlocked Dash and will be doing some upgrades on it when it arrives. I have an AT&T Tilt myself (Kaiser) and have really gotten into the mods for it. I've read quite a bit here about the Dash and the only thing I have not seen mentioned much at all is the radio firmware.
Do various radio firmware version exist for this critter or is whatever came with the last TMO official flash the best that can be had? Just curious ....
Matt

I have limited experience with ROM flashing - so please pardon this question if it is dumb. I have searched but have not found a good answer to this question.
I have flashed to the latest Kavana ROM, and find it excellent. However, I still have my original T-Mobile (WM6) Radio onboard.
Can someone explain why the ROMs are being built based on the latest Brightpoint ROM but are not including that Radio version. 03.07.90 I believe is the radio version.
I even saw in a Wi-Fi thread where Kavana had actually recommended to someone to install that Radio on top of his ROM - but yet it is not part of the ROM update.
Is there a reception issue with that radio? OR, is there a problem with flashing radio ROMs?
Thanks in advance.
To be honest, i used to wonder why too, but if you just want a ROM and don't want to change your radio version (in case you actually have no problems with your radio version) then that's why they are split. Some people have side effects sometimes after updating their radio version. And if all ROMS had a radio, then you'd be stuck with whatever radio it came with. Now with the official ROMS they do have a radio included (most of the time) but a lot of cooked ROMs will exclude the radio simply to focus on the functionality of the device , not necessarily the device's connectivity

if you don't like the tmobile radio (who doesn't right?)... you could just flash the latest wm6 rom by HTC which is way better than the tmo rom and slightly better (depending on who you ask) than the rogers rom... which will give you the latest radio, and then flash with kavana's rom to get wm6.1 on there.
you can flash just the radio... but i think i read someone say that it causes problems with kavana's rom so best to just flash the full HTC rom and then upgrade to 6.1 from there.

Keats -- do you know what some of the updates to the radio are between the stock (v4.1.13.34_02.79.90 on mine) and the one included in the wm6 rom from HTC? When you say it's "better" -- how so? I have no problems with either GSM radio or wifi (though my signal strength was much better on ATT...)
not specifically. i think the radio differences just ammount to better reception in general. actual funtional differences have nothing to do with the radio and are specific to each rom.
Just received my New Diamond 2 hours ago from China. The ROM is 1.35.707.3 WWE dated May 28, 2008, Protocol 52.26.25.09H, and the Radio is 0.93.25.NS26.
Is this ROM newer that the ones available in the forum?
I tried to run MIOMap3 and TeleType GPS on it but didn't work. So I'm thinking of reflashing it with ROM WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.26a.25.09_1.00.25.03.
Or should I keep it?
Is fo then why MIOMAP does'n work?
Teletype will not run on the diamond no matter what rom you use. Can't answer to MioMap as I don't use it but I understand that it is the same as iGO8 which will not run on the diamond. TomTom 6 or 7 and Garmin XT work.
Your OS is a newer build but your radio is older.

Thanks for your swift reply.
I read in some forums that Destinatior works fine as well as Garmin.
The problem is that only IGO/Miomap and Teletype are only S/W that have a detailed map for Egypt (where I live).
On the ROM side, do you suggest that I upgrade the Radio?
Thanks again
You have an 1.35 version, so its older then the 1.37 version. So upgrade everything. The 1.35 stock i got was very bad.
Sorry I didn't notice it

Thanks for the hint.
Somehow I only looked at the "707" and compared it to the "405" ... maybe because it's almot 3:00 am my time.
I'll go to bed and do the flashing tomorrow. Thanks again

Hi,
I am in the same situation here.
I received same device with same firmware from China, just yesterday !
Have you managed to upload the new firmware ? (1.37.xxx)
I would be very interested in too.......
Please have a look at the forum, everything you need is there.

Do you think they implemented any hardware improvements in the new stock?
I have the option right now of buying a Touch Diamond with the 1.35.707 ROM. Should I wait for new stock with the 1.37.405 ROM?

No they havent and they wont. The only Diamond that will be different to the Asian/UK/European models will be the American version which will support a few missing bands that the current Diamond does not have. Those missing bands are barring American customers from using 3G.

So I shouldn't worry about buying a Touch Diamond with the 1.35.707 ROM? ... and I can easily upgrade it to 1.37.405?

Hi Guys,
I've been away for a few month and now that I'm back I'm a little confused.. I'm running the Artemis Touch 4.02 WWE Rom dated 4/8/08, radio version 03.08.90 and prot. 4.1.13.52.
All the update info on the site now seems to have smaller radio numbers. Am I looking in the wrong place for updates to this ROM?? I now have several more Orbits to upgrade..
Richie
Ah, OK. Well that's a shame that Mark has retired. So what ROM now?
missing meschle as well
I also have been away for some time. I like the manilla looks but as I read the threads no one can convince me with a stable rom.
so I guess I have to stick with the old touch rom.
well you can separately install other radio ROM
it wont affect your current ROM
looking to upgrade to 6.5 have downloaded 6.5 rom and dcd carrier for telus. i guess i install the rom 1st than the carrier? my radio is 3.41 do i need to upgrade it first? if so where can i get it?
You need to unlock your phone first and then you can install the 6.5 rom.
Though if you don't have an extended battery you'll end up with your phone dying a lot faster. I have an extended battery and it's all but dead after a day of normal use.
phone already unlocked. do i run dcd carrier after rom
try the rom out and see if you can send and receive calls, text messages, data work, and gps. If these don't work without the carrier cab then Install it. or you can just install it for the heck of it.
what about the radio currently 3.41.00 do i need higher??

No, you do not. Any 3.xxx radio is GPS capable, and required for wm 6.1 and up.
Please read this FAQ, there is a flashing guide in the beginning:

this link is for wm5. orange never released a update for wm6 or 6.1. Id suggest super cid unlocking the phone and flashing from there. if you want a stock rom id idvise one of the HTC releases but if you want somthing fancy id go for the custom 6.5 builds. the os is still in beta but its not far off release now. its by far the best mobile os in my opinion. just be aware that theres a time limit on them so youll need to keep it up to date with the latest builds. older ones expire at the end of this month. the newest is 21728
Thanks for that FCW
if i flash it onto a 6.5 can i flash a 6/6.1 when my beta finishes?
ive saw some of the screens for 6.5 and it looks well nice, the whole layout seems to have changed

yes you can upgrade/downgrade as you please as long as you have hardspl and supercid unlock first.
Just in case you dont have them
SuperCid (this installs hardspl as well and sim and cid unlocking the device) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
Just make sure you read the instructions before you run the tool. you dont want to do this wrong as it includes a radio flash.
