Hey.. i am coming from US sprint CDMA version of the diamond... many of these roms look great, but i am curious as to if they will work with the CDMA version.. Has anyone tried it yet or is there a guide on how to do this? Thanks
I guess the rom itself should work.
What doesn't work is flashing the radio or SPL.
That will brick your device for sure.
Cya,
Viper BJK
thanks viper.. so i am just curious.. has any CDMA users tried this yet?? thanks guys for the help..
the GSM roms will not work.
you will be in the same boat as users before you. stuck in boot loader.
use a rom thats made for CDMA devices, they are two different devices compleetly.
ok thanks juggalo.. i thought they didn't work, but after searching I found some hints that they should.. just never any confirmation on it actually being done.. well thanks for clearing this up..
users have tried to use GSM roms. it just messes there device up.
Mhmm ok Good to know.
I'm already having a look at CDMA radio and that one is completely different.
As for OS I thought it's just WM standard. But it seems it isn't.
Thanks for info, Juggalo_X

in therory yes it is the same os. but the drivers for the radio and the SIM and such are different. causes it to not boot.
so are there any CDMA Radio's/ROMs out there?
most don't say whether they are GSM or CDMA...
This is the only ROM that i have seen so far on xda that is make for CDMA Diamond for both the Telus and Sprint version.

I just bought a touch diamond (US 3G version), and would like to try some customized ROM released here.
One simple question, what is the latest or best HardSPL we can find now? I know there are a lot of threads about hardspl in the forum. But just too many. After 2 hours of reading, I still do not know which one is the newest one and the best one? Could you guys point me the direction and give me the link of that particular thread? Thanks a million.
Also, about the ROM, I am looking for a ROM with original HTC looking (basically black today screen and black touchflo 3D, though blue is probably fine with me), but faster, with all the tweaks applied. And if possible with latest OS builds. Any suggestions?
I did search and reading a lot. Just confused with so many different HardSPLs and ROMs. Hope someone more familiar with this forum can help me out. Thanks!
SPL's & ROM's...
Unfortunately, like so many things, ROM's are based on personal opinion, so there is no 'best' or 'worst', just one's you like and one's you don't.
Try here for your SPL - both GSM and CDMA versions covered. You must do this first or you'll end up bricking your device.
Next, just try the ROM's until you find one you like. The one I'm currently using is pretty much standard (as you would like), but with all the latest versions of applications / software and the latest drivers, etc. I think you'll like it! Try here.
Don't ask me how to tell if you have CDMA or GSM device because I've no idea how to tell the difference !
Have fun
AFAIK there is a sticky thread about HardSPL !
AFAIK in forum rulez the question whats the last / best rom are disallowed !
just read some threads please !
In the HardSPL thread the first and second post Oli explains everything Who should use what HARDSPL ... so dont think thats complicated.
Please UTFSE and flash some so you will know what u like best !!

Thanks a lot. I just flashed the HardSPL and the ROM you linked in your post. They works very well. Thanks!
One more question, I am working in a high building, and my desk is in the 3rd floor. I am getting very poor cell phone (GSM, T-mobile USA) here. I am wondering if anyone can suggest a better radio ROM for T-mobile USA? I really want a better signal reception. Thanks in advance!
Hey, I want to update my phone with the 6.5 ROM, to try it out and all that good stuff. I have this version of the Touch Diamon.
http://www.telusmobility.com/on/pcs/handset_htc_p3100.shtml
I am wondering what file I need to do this. And are there any steps to installing it, or can I just go ahead and install?
Thanks.
you have a cdma diamond. ppcgeeks.com is going to be the best bet as most information there is for cdma and xda is mostly gsm.
BEWARE

yep both websites have it. just type hard spl, flash, as keywords and you'll get tons of tutorials
what ever you do make sure the hard-spl you use is for cdma!
So is my EVDO CDMA or GSM?

EDVO is CDMA
Try Calkulin's ROMs. He cooks mostly for CDMA.

A cdma rom will not load on a gsm device, it will hang at the boot screen or give you a great looking brick. same goes for a gsm rom on a cdma device

No cant run that one, it is a hardware issue that prevents it.
I've got this touch pro2 cdma on US Cellular.
please advice if I can sim unlock this and if I could do some custom ROMs.
I've tried to read some stuff but it's hard to figure out all this.
There was a version of USCC to unlock some stuff but it said (not recommended)
pls advice
thank you
A SIM unlock will not allow you to flash a custom ROM. You need a HardSPL unlock to do that.

i was looking into hardspl and when it came to USCC it said (not recommended) ... that's why i got confused.
would you like to be a little bit more explicit pls?
i appreciate your reply
i would really appreciate some help
Don't know anything about USCC, but HardSPL will void your warranty and done wrong can brick your phone.

Miami: I believe USCC is an abbreviation for US Cellular. I'm not sure what the other "C" stands for, though.
gotttijr: If I understand you correctly, you're saying that you asked US Cellular about putting a Hard SPL on your device. If that's the case, then OF COURSE they would tell you not to do it! Changing the ROM of your device VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY. You are doing this at your own risk. You don't have to tell them about doing it, though. There are tools to get it back to its stock conditions if you ever have to send it in for a warranty repair/exchange.
Hard SPL DOES NOT unlock your device to another service. If you want to do that, then ask your carrier for the unlock code. Tell them you need the code to be able to use it in another country, and they will normally give it to you with no problem. Hard SPL allows you to flash custom ROMs and other radios.
This is as far as I take you, grasshopper. Search and read. The answers will come to you.

Are you saying you haven't seen the sub-forum clearly labeled Touch Pro2 CDMA and Touch Pro2, Tilt2 Android Developement?
Both of your questions are seriously the very first thread of each of them.

Android isn't stable on any phone not designed for it. Most of the people running it on a dual-boot setup have to live without some functionality and/or other quirks.

I got a USCC TP2 unlocked working with T-Mobile. Just follow all of the instructions given by the letter. Go over here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/cdma-tp2-upgrades/
Read the sticky threads. After unlocking and everything you can choose a new ROM that runs better than stock. USCC TP2 stick with CDMA ROMs and radios. Never install a GSM ROM or Radio.
Thanks again guys. So what rom would u recommend? There was the thread with radio unloc where it says for us celular not recommended. Can anyone advice on that one?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

If I had a nickel for every time a new member asked "What ROM should I choose?" I'd be a very wealthy man.
Either flash a ROM or don't. Either way, only YOU can recommend a ROM for yourself. There are several for you to try. Just keep flashing ROMs until you find one you like.
No one can give you advice on an unlock thread without seeing it. Post a link to whatever you're talking about or move on.
