newbie... a bit slow - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Me, I am a bit slow, my XDA is zippin along tho, thanks to Tom latest oops black!
Two things, and I have searched but I cannot find an answer that was not too geeky for me to understand.
1. I loved my blackberry style keybord - qwerty but with half the buttons - I had an old flashed ROM from mechel (spelling) before and that let me pick from about three keyboards... how can I get something like this back... explin to me as is I was you granny and imagine your granny is slow...
2. what the heck is going on with the biotouch.exe? is there a workaround?
thank in a van ;o)

well sorry i don't understand you well :-S
but if you looking for a keyboard and spelling
there is the keyboard i'm using (i like )
HTC Opal EzInput QVGA KeyBoards Suite
and what the problem with the biotouch?

do I install the keyboard just like a regular cab application
you see I have already done that and the new kb hasn't shown up!
---
biotouch - when I run my finger down the screen after installing oops black - i get an error from biotouch.exe...

well
yes just install it as regular cab..
after soft reset your device.. and see the keyboards
anf for the bio touch see this post in that thread

Calculator???

Hi,
I have the T-mobile MDA Compact III, the Dutch version, with wifi and stuff. I also have a Qtek S200 and the first thing i noticed is that the Compact III has no calculator! This may seem like a small thing, but it bugs me as i got used to using it alot with the S200...
Any plugin or whatever to get a calculator??
Oh and while i'm asking, is there a way to change those freaky pink white colors of the phone pad? I can change theme in the notmal menus but the phone pad always stays with the T-mobile color scheme... any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks,
Rudy
Hmm... interesting. Anyway, there are tons of better calculator out there. I think the.. Omega(?) has a free calculator software.. and if you do a search on www.freewareppc.com, they ought to have a few .. much advance ones too.
Tons of phonepad available in this forum with iPhone wannabe to.. Vista look-alike. Easiest way to get rid of T-mobile stuff is to go Wiki (under WM5 tweak) to get rid of it and use the default.
Had the same problem.
There IS an calculator, only theres no shortcut made by TM
In the folder WINDOWS\calc.exe
there u got to be. ive made an shortcut to it with SPB Pocket plus.
and for the ugly t-mobile color, just install an skin for it. and do a soft reset.
excuse my bad english
Try tapping Start/ Organiser a new window will open desplaying icons for Claculator, Calendar, Notes and Tasks - Strange place to bury the calculator but it is there - Mike
when installing a skin for the phone pad, does it need to be unlocked first or something... and kindof a noob question, but will i lose my warranty?? Where can I download like legal themes for the PDA??
BTW, i found the calc just where you said it would be mike, And i linked it to my right software button!
Forget the CALC from Windows. Try searching for eval. Nice and free Calculator...
You will find it here

What, the link is down?
Did it get xda'd? lol
Been using it for a few weeks.. Skinable and very easy to type with. In fact you can just slide your finger around and let go when you see the key you are looking for highlited..
Another thing you should look into is PocketCM...
http://www.pocketcm.com/
CONTACTS replacement!!! I like this even more then their keyboard solution.. Imagine the iPhone contacts slide you see everywhere, and you have pocketCM. One of the best features is the A-Z on the left side to quick jump.

How do you install this on hermes w/WM6? When I go into settings / input and change to PCM keyboard it says " Pocket CM keyboard has to be the current sip in order to configure it? what do I do?
Just click the little triangle beside your keyboard icon (bottom middle of bar) and select PCM Keyboard. That should do it...
i have been using the pocket CM k/b since yesterday and ts a quantum leap forward from any other k/b that is available. Its a must have for any Windows mobile user. It works on all PPC phones!
There is also a contact manager from the same author. You can use your fingers to scroll through and select contacts. I use that as well. It works great! It is called pocketCM. URL: http://www.pocketcm.com/index.php
I've installed it and it shows up in the list of available input devices but selecting it does nothing at all. The keyboard doesn't change visually onscreen and if I check the current input device it still shows the standard keyboard.
I can go into it's options and play around with things but if I change the Input Method to PCM Keyboard and click OK, it still doesn't switch over.
Running Schap's WM6 Pro 3.60a ROM.
Tried soft resets, tried installing to main memory and to storage.
Running 0.6 version.

same problem here
What a bummer.
Too bad the Hermes doesn't have either a slide out keyboard, Block Recognizer, Letter Recognizer or Transcriber.

I don't think sarcasm is called for; this looks like a neat keyboard that works better than the stock one for those times that you dont want to slide out or use the stylus.

Strange, I installed it on my 8525 (see sig for ROM info), and it worked fine. Of course my fat fingers don't let me use it all too well... But then again, I have the same problems with an iPhone and even the slide-out keyboard on the Hermes. I actually find the Letter Recognizer to work quite well for me, but it's a matter of personal preference (I was a big fan of Graffiti on the Palm, but Graffiti 2 was abysmal.)

keyboard on startup
Is there anyway to make this the default keyboard? When i reset my phone, it goes back to the standard keyboard
I'm in love with this keyboard! I had downloaded and installed the first version a couple weeks ago and liked it enough to use occaisonally. I felt like it had great potential and just needed a little polishing. But this new version, .6, is awesome! Perfect. I'm gonna use it all the time except when typing sms with the palm threaded app. I'll slide out the hardware keyboard on my hermes for that.
As soon as someone fixes the palm threaded app so that the SIP keyboard doesn't cover up the text you're inputting, I'll use this new PCMkeyboard there, too. And I'll send a hefty donation to that person that fixes the palm app.
donation on the way to this PCM guy, too.
Does anyone know if this keyboard supports other languages' input methods?
Under the options, there's a select box for "Keyboard layout" which includes:
Czech
English
Francais
German

Htc touch hd keyboard problems

Hy,
I havent found simmilar problems to mine on any past thread, so I opened this one. If a thread with simmilar problem does exist, I apologize in advance.
My problem:
I downloaded and instaled new keyboard on my touch hd , called "touch input" which is originaly instaled in touch diamond 2 and touch pro 2.
I've seen a video on pocketnow.com, that it is compatibile also for HD, link: http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=6918
, so I downloaded it from here:
http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=6918
When i instaled it, it totaly messed up my previous original keyboard, so i've uninstaled it, and with that action I lost also the original touch HD keyboard (compact qwerty, phone pad, ful qwerty). Whenever I try to run one of those keyboards, phone just freezes (does not open it).
I use third party keyboard (SPB) that still works. But I would like my original (touch hd) keyboard back, without HARD RESETing the phone if its posssible. is there a file that makes this possible?
Did I screwed other programs on my phone also with my action or can it influenced the device's performance generaly?
For you answers and help I thank you all in advance...
no one to help?!
The keyboard that screwed my original one, was downloaded from here actualy:
http://www.4shared.com/file/88843093/f25db617/BJK_HTC_EzInput2_WVGA_NoKbd_0409-B1_2.html
i tried **** loads of application in my htc touch hd and keyboards aswell even finger keyboard showed some problem but spb stuff are cool spb keyboard is best i feel..
I used my touch hd during the day and downloaded few apps on it such as change screen 2.7, core player 1.3.2, RaphHighResPanorama and Tesalat Metal V2 Theme. They all worked fine for hours until few minutes ago when I was about to send an SMS. I had lost my keyboard except numpad with letter p and w on it. What's going on? Tried soft reset without any changes. I'm running HSPL 1.56.OliNex + Miri's WM 6.5.
Edit: Dunno what went wrong, but got it sorted out by reflashing rom.
i got the same problem and didnt find a solution. Could any rom-rooker upload the cab for the htc keyboard 2.0, so we can overwrite the existent files, to fix the failure.
thx for help
Hard reset will do the work
Valti, this tipp isnt verry usefull, because i want to have my actual rom, with all my settings and appz AND a full functional keyboard.
That a hardreset solves the problem is logic.
Hmmmpf ...
dajhoony, after HR you will have the same ROM, which is installed now.
then you will have to install again additional apps and progs.
i know that. and i know, that it is much, much work to reinstall all my aooz, including all my registry optimization, my skins, my symbols, my ... my ... my ...
So, thanx again for this great answer, that a HARD RESET repairs the problem.
But i am looking for a solution, to reinstall the HTC Keyboard 2.0,m because Dutty knows allready the problem with the HTC Keyboard v2.1.
So, if i would do a hard reset, the failure comes again and i DONT WANT THAT.
So, plz .. only posts with help to install HTC Keyboard v2.0.
Thx for all followers.

As an interim solution I would suggest you (if on your keyboard you use English only!) - install FingerKeyboard 2.1, in checkboxes tik "En" (as an options can check "suggest names for SMS) and then install this CAB attached in the next post.
You will have a beautiful YOTA keyboard with arrows
Here is the CAB:
i will try. verry nice idea. thanx for help!!!!!!!

On Screen Keyboards

Hi there,
I'm usually in the Blackstone or Rhodium forums and have a mate who has the Xperia X1 and asked me about the on screen keyboards.
Looking at this phone, he only has the normal on screen keyboard which needs the stylus to be used, is there anyone out there that has the "Full QWERTY" and "Phone Keypad" Keyboards as a cab to install?
Thanks
search for FINGER KEYBOARD 2.1 or something like that. it's much better than the se kb.

Are u serious?
what's the point of a software keyboard when u have a hardware one?
imho, the best solution even is to install nullkeyboard to stop the annoying software keyboard from popping up.
Try SPB Keyboard. Its great
Hi, Although u have the slider keyboard already, but for obvious reasons one may need a software keyboard too. Try SPB Keyboard (just google it and u get the links). It also gives u lot many plugins to shoose from various layouts/options of keyboard.
I have been using it for long and its works great on X1.
fingerkeyboard is by far the best!
hm.. this might help u

Although hardware keyboards are great, you need two hands to use them. When you want to send a quick message or send something quick on Twitter etc, one hand is prefered, hence the Software Keyboard is needed.

Cheers for the link
I used the Touch IT Blackstone keyboard set which includes a handy keypad, simulating a normal phone pad. I mostly use it for one-handed sms.
The filename is Touch-IT Blackstone Keyboard.cab or something, so a search would probably yield results.

Tried fingerkeyboard, Blackstone and SPB one. Actually I'm with the xT9 keyboard, that id the official finger-friendly keyboard that SE ships with the R3A ROM release. It is by far the best one I've ever tried.
Try it, it's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494026
The xT9 is the best keyboard. The only one you can use with one hand!

that was my issue... there's other ezinput 2.0 that i've got/tried...
and the fn keys are outputting different things...
ezinput 1.5 works BUT has smaller keys and the font is messed up (courier?)
oh well
still eager for someone to fix this issue...
what about the issue that older EzInput keyboards had with the predictive text on the X1i?
I remember when i installed 1.5 it would no longer pre-populate names as i was typing in the To: section for a text message
dont really care about t9 or predictive text...
i just want to type and use the fn key to properly output numbers rather than using sym all the time >.<

which custom ROMs have Transcriber/letter recognizer inputs?

I just flashed my first custom rom (energy photon) and noticed that the transcriber and letter recognizer inputs are not available in the sip menu. Apparently I'm one of the weird ones and use these as my primary input methods (I love handwriting recognition!). In which case, does anyone know of or use a custom rom that offer these input methods? I've tried searching but its not exactly common for the chefs to say they have transcriber or letter recognizer offered in their roms. Anyone have any suggestion or perhaps cabs to install?
thank you very much
Is this too newbie of a question? Should I just search more?
I am in the same boat. Just upgrade to NRG's Photon 10/28 and not seeing Block/Handwriting input, just the different keyboards. Anyone have info on this?
same here ... hoping for a resolution soon to an otherwise great ROM experience
Ok .. I am a dumbass ... I Finally figured it out ..
I installed Transcriber ..
click-> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...c3-2eee-41e3-9339-f7b303f4b386&displaylang=en
And true 6.5 roms do not give you the option of choosing transcriber from the optons menu ..
However if you find transcriber.exe in the windows dir .. you can run it and it does work !
So I made a link and added it to the startup dir in windows and it works just fine now
Just a warning .. if you change to the full or compact qwerty it closes transcriber and you will have to restart it to make it work again :/
However if you open the keyboard it will switch to the keyboard layout
and back to transcriber .. without restarting transcriber
Give it try .. Worked For me !

I guess i should thank you for being a "dumbass" for ALL of us other "dummies" who were relying on you or someone else to pose a resolution. I'll be giving this a shot today! Thanx!
Transcriber/Block recognition Gone
HTC Tilt 2 ATT Window Mobile 6.5 Pro
OS Version 5.2.21887
ROM Version 2.10.502.4
I used to have a 8525 I kept it for years and got it repaired multiple times for one reason...it had inherent handwriting recognition. When it finally died, I replaced it with the above HTC Tilt 2 specifically because it also had handwriting recognition.
Yesterday, I upgraded the ROM to the version listed above. I read through the upgrade info, didn't mention it was going to take away the one feature I loved, but it did.
I tried to install transcriber as mentioned but cannot find the .exe file discussed to make the shortcut. The new rom apparently does away with file explorer.
At this point, I feel like unhooking everything and going up into the mountains where the most technological thing I have is the axe I chop wood with.
There are a million phones out there...why can't they leave one that old farts like me can use?
Sorry for the venting...I called HTC and they said 1) can't downgrade ROM 2) Search the internet for something that let's you transcribe.
Any help would be appreciated.
"ScottSNX", modified the original HTC Transcriber for WinMo 6.5. But, word complete is still missing & not much available for free. His post is #28 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=605586&page=3. CalliGrapher ( http://www.phatware.com/index.php?q=product/details/calligrapher ) is an app you can buy & it has word complete.
Thx,
Brian
Thanks! I have downloaded the cab and will let you know!
