Problem with too many times flashing - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I'm one of those who expierence with flashing. Now, I'm user of broken Hermes pocket pc. May I make a false by thinking so, but at last 3 weeks whatever ROM I use, after some minutes it buzzes and do not work. Even I soft reset it by stylus it becomes hard-reserted.
Can anyone help on this problem?
Thanks before,
Waiting for your answer.

Look in my 4shared, download the AT&T stripped rom, flash it to your phone (Doesnt matter if your not in the US/on AT&T).
Then flash whatever cooked rom you want.

try to flash an original rom and then reflash a customized version

If things get a bit unstable, just flash a OEM (shipped) rom, then the rom of your choice, the idea is that it freshes the internal memmory structure and helps restore stability, I have flashed 20+++ roms, and my Hermes is still working fine

flash memory does have a limited number of writes before it dies
but being as your storage is also the same type of flash chip as your rom
if 7 or even 20 times was the limitation your normal storage would have died a long! time agoe
thing each flash cell can be written to 100K times

I think all is going to be O.K.

Till present I have flashed my ROM more than 100 times.
On 01.10.2008 I did all as Veyka said. Till now I use developer ROM and there is no problem in it. I will post a report if there is problem.
Thanks to Veyka and other developers who help me. Glad to be in your community.

Good news
Thanks to all who help me on this problem. Once I thought to sell my Hermes.
Now, my Hermes is working. Furthermore, it works perfectly. THERE IS NO PROBLEM....
Many thanks to community members and developers on help.

If the flash memory died after just a few 100 times of flashing, my Hermes would be just a brick... every time a new rom comes out I tend to flash it to see if I like it.....

yes, u can flash u'r device as many times as there are stars in the night sky!

True even I have flashed no. of times. No worries luckily till now. Things have gone much easier With SPB rom updated backup option. Kudos to developers.Cheers

I guess, I've reached the limit of flashing now :(

My device has undergone millions of flashes till now. Now, it just enters the bootloader and does not react to any ROM and bootloader tool.
Looks like my device is screaming, "Enough is enough! How many times will you change my spirit !! "
Bad news is, in my last flash, I went back to Helmi WM5 AKU3.5.1.
So, no further development from me(for both OSes)

it happened to me many times, its something that has to do with the rom image you're trying to flash.
try the following:
1. use the new NOCID_RUU flasher when universal is CONNECTED and sync'd with active sync.
2. use the old maUpgradeUt_noid.exe . uncheck USB connections from active sync, put in bootloader, and try to flash
(these steps you probably already did, but check out next step)
3. flash with a radio image. copy the radio_.nbf you want to the flash folder, aswell as the nk.nbf, then repeat steps 1 & 2
this has always worked for me when i had your problem (and it happend quite a few times)
Thanks everyone! When nothing worked, I turned to my GF's universal and did a SD-rom flash. Luckily, she too was running helmi aku3.5.1
Helmi Aku3.5 is a good ROM.
My Universal retires with it too.
It died in the beginning of the month. Hardware failure!!!

Pretty Much Bricked (please Help!!!)

Hey guys. I really , really , really, (can't emphasize that enough), need your help. I flashed my Vogue about a week ago with the 19588 ROM using PPC Geeks Kitchen.
I ended up having to do a warranty exchange because my volume button came a little loose. Well, I went to Flash back to the Stock Alltel ROM, the one that is on the HTC site, thats linked on this page, the one I always use, and now I'm screwed.
It makes it to 43 percent and says theres a communication error. The really weird thing is, I can flash any other ROM to the phone, just not the Alltel ROM. Below , I've listed what I've tried, so you get an Idea. I'm beggin you to help me out here.
*I started out with CokeMan 2.31 , and the 19588 Cooked PPCGeeks Kitchen ROM.
*After the first 5 failed attempt to flash the Alltel ROM, I flashed CokeMan v0.41, and then flashed Mustangs Clean ROM w/o GPS. (this is when I figured out other ROM's will work)
*I re-downloaded the Alltel ROM from HTC's website 6 times, and have tried it on three separate computers and no luck.
*I tried almost ten different ROM's , and each time tried flashing the Alltel ROM afterwords.
*I extracted the Alltel ROM to a folder. Downloaded a blank RUU folder. Copied all of the files from the alltel folder to the RUU folder. (All of the files that were in the Alltel Folder, and not in the RUU folder.) It actually flashed all the way thru, but is now stuck at the HTC screen, and says NO RADIO at the bottom. I just stopped trying, and now am turning to the PPC Gods, you guys. SO PLEASE HELP ME OUT. I have to sent the thing back by monday, or they charge me.
I've always been able to flash to the Alltel ROM from and ROM i've ever used, and never had this trouble before in my PPC life. It always just relocks the phone.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!
flash using the sd card
Sounds like you've flashed the f*** out of that phone, suprised it didn't overheat ! Anyways, try the SD method. Also, what radios have you been adding on, or originated with on the ROM you had when you first started.
Also, I'll be quite honest, if I had to return the phone for any reason and couldn't flash back, I'd probably break it to pieces and say it was run over!
how to use SD anyone? please? ive never tried
does it really matter what ROM is on there ...if your having a button problem? You obviously didn't cause the issue because of the ROM.

1. Format your MicroSD card to FAT32 (YES - FAT 32 32 32!! not just plain old FAT) (again, this is not required if your card is already fat32; it is ok to have other data on the card). I have read that the card needs to be 2gb or smaller, though I'm not sure how much truth, if any, there is to that...
2. Extract the .NBH you desire to flash from the exe or zip or w/e put it on the microsd card rename it from RUU_signed.nbh to VOGUIMG.NBH
3.Put the MicroSD card in your phone and Get To the BOOTLOADER screen (camer+power+reset) it should then start updating with the .NBH on the SD card and the procedure should begin automatically.
quoted from here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17473
and also, like the champ said, what radios have you flashed?
EDIT: and, which alltel rom are you trying to flash? if you were reverting back to a non-gps/lower radio rom, you did make sure to downgrade the spl properly using these instructions here correct?

If you can't flash it, make sure to make it so it can't even start up... you need to completely brick it so it can't get to the bootloader, just not even turn on. Then you can blame HTC and get a new one

You can't be serious with this, right? The idea here is to fix it, not blame HTC, because I'm sure that would go over real smooth with the carrier.

Well that sounds like a horrible idea! Lol I mean if it has to be done then yeah just go to a GPS ROM and then flash back and it will brick and you can send it in if you have TEP from Sprint or something.. But first I think he wants to FIX the phone not destroy it and start over
My touch is also bricked. It boots to the Sprint logo and stops there.
What do you mean a button problem.
My Touch's green and red buttons stopped working before updating. But the phone still worked. After updating the ROM, even the phone stop working.
Could you please elaborate on this?

Not to point out the obvious, but were any of those 20 the shipped ROM? I've made that mistake before and thought something wrong with the phone. I would try to flash a stock ROM and try again. Good luck friend. Here's the link to the stripped version I use from veyka. Here
which rom did you like best? i do not want to flash 20 roms to find the one for me. all i want is 6.1, touchflo and some basic apps, but it is very confusing to figure out which one to flash.
Thanks to communicate that fast, but i was using the Crc's ROM for so long and it didn't make such an error!!!
is it a must to use an official ROM???

well, it's not technically official. It's been stripped of the radio and some of the "stuff". You can flash to the link I gave you and then back to another and see if it still hangs. Doing this has helped me before. When you flash the stock ROM it basically resets the memory of the phone to like it was from the original carrier. Just flash it and right after flash your preferred ROM.
Thanks alot, i'll try and feedback...
OK, i tried it, the same problem...
Maybe its a hardware problem? Flash IC or something like that???
I had this same issue starting last week. Never had the issue before. I flashed a new rom, then a few days 3 I think later my phone started to get stuck at loading. I would re flash the same rom, and a few re starts later it would happen again. Tried a new rom with the same results. I was using a rom with Build 21109 when it started.

To explain:
To make a big storage rom, we "break" the structure of the rom, removing the extended rom/main storage pool barrier.
Over time, this leaves the file system "dirty", think of it like a 3year old windows XP install, slow, and iffy.
Flashing a OEM rom, or my stripped rom, is like reformatting your HDD, it lets WM install fresh.
When i did rom testing, I used to flash 20 roms a night sometimes, before i restored back to my stable config, I always flashed that stripped AT&T rom, I never had a random hard reset.

did you formated the device before flashing ? task29 .. mtty ?
this i had few times after much flashing. but few times meaning 2-3 after MAAAANY flashing .. but if it is often .. probably some leftovers from previous rom ?
it is not a screen problem!
cheers
Even i have this now for the past 2-3 weeks, i thought my diamond was dying
Lets see what happens im gonna backup my phone and try formating it today.
It also happens to me sometimes... But I don't restart the phone... I wait some minutes that the device go into sleep mode and after that the screen is normal again.
It happens very rarely and I don't know what's the cause...
I always flash the device using mtty.
Bye
Marshall
yes it started also on mine, today i had to reboot it twice because of this problem.
I'm using last memo rom with sense 2016.
i never had that problem until now, and i flashed like hundred times almost every rom here, always with mtty.
i have faced that problem too! it's not a big deal for my phone. try to flash other ROM to your Device.i'm using Memo too! and i love it.
maybe it's because a bad ROM flash. try to flash it with other ROM and flash again with your current ROM and try to flasy using mmty.
I have a same issue and I thought that my device is gonna die
I'm using Rottgrub's rom and I alwasy do mtty before flashing rom
I am having the same problem, since the past few weeks. I have flashed the device say 100 times. I've tried different ROMs and the problem recurrs. I do a soft rest and everything returns to normal.
One observation is that when I do task 29. I get I get atleast 5 'ERASE block xxx FAIL' messages. I hope someone can help in this regard.
When I using GenY 2.6 with Sense, I also got this problem. But I change to 6.5 with titanium, the problem gone. I think the reason is sense, or maybe run too much 3D with Sense.
And of course, I don't think It's a hardware issue.
@sobny:
Yeah- it only happens when I use Sense Rom
as far as i heard, is just "overflashing" .. and NOT known solution for "snow like screen" ..
and it is NOT sense related, as few times i turned OFF sense, and used SPB mobile shell ..

JellyTime Opinions

Hello!
Im wondering about JellyTime, Is it good or bad/very buggy?
Since im very intrested about it i want others opinion.
Also im new to this rooting and new ROM installs.
Thanks!
Well, it is a beta Rom, so it will have bugs. I use it as my main rom knowing it has some minor flaws. If you need a full running device you might want to read the thread a little before flashing this. Most of us flashing this are "Flashaholics" and don't mind flashing a new version everyday if needed. I'd say flash it to see what it's like, and then make your own decision. Only you will know if you like it. This goes for any Rom.

Ohhh okay ^^ is it possible to install the rom at the sametime as i root? sorreh im newb at this :3:highfive:
After you root, make a backup of your rom. Before flashing (download rom to sd card-remember where it was stored), reboot in recovery.
Wipe data/factory reset.
Wipe dalvik.
Format all partitions (except sd card).
Install from sd card.
Flash rom (search for the download)
Reboot.
The above is sorta the correct way of doing it afterwards. Most of us don't do it.
Wait 5-10 minutes.
Reboot.
Configure all you need to configure.
Install your apps.
Reboot.
If you want to know the issues of a rom, read the op(first page) and read the last 5-10 pages.
All ics - jb roms have bugs. Won't be long till they are fixed.
Gb roms are stable on the most part.
Search for 4ext touch recovery, it's the prefered one.

Alright buddy, last one. After this you nees to start reading and searching for your own answers. Almost anything you can think of has already been posted.
It's called gapps. It's a zip file with several google apps. Flash the same as when you flash a rom. No wipe necessary.

I did see a question asking about "best roms" am after an easy stable and fully working combination tho, would love jellybean and fully understand its still in beta. I think more noobs would attempt stuff if it wasnt so damn confusing with regards options and bolt ons.
Ive been Useing JellyTime since yesterday and i love it, the only complaint i have at this moment is that when i lock the screen and unlock it after more than 5 min it takes up to 5-10 seconds for it to start. Maby fixed in new Beta 10. ill try install it later today or tomorrow.

The Desire HD/Inspire 4G are virtually un-brickable as long as you are not ENG-OFF. Once you start flashing roms it all will become like second nature. Everything will start to get easier(more confidence comes too ) Just keep doing what you are doing (reading the threads). I wish some people did this more before posting.

This is kernel related issue..also found in virtuous infinity sense 4 rom..
Bluetooth also is broken in beta 10..I still miss the smoothness of beta 7..that kinnda smoothness is yet to be seen on this new kernel

One of the fun things tho is that when i have my headset in my phone the "lock screen" is opening as soon i press the button, and without the headset it takes 5-10 seconds like i posted earlier :3

You need to use catchpa for about the first 10 posts. then it should disapear.
This ROM is outstanding. I started with Beta 8 and it was great–at least for the first few days before Beta 9 came out. And now that Beta 10 is out, I'm going to flash that ASAP.
Then great thing about this ROM is that Randomblame just can't seem to give himself any downtime, although he does find time to spend with his family. As long as the ROM works and he isn't going crazy from it, that's alright with me.
