Are you looking to save space on device than in the message options select storage card
To keep the messages as a backup use the attached software, it can back up call logs, speed dial, Sms's, emails

And the best thing: you can create a schedule so it will backup your data every day

Does anyone know of a program that backups sms text messages preferably to a pc program (outlook would be good) or exactly where they are stored on the phone so that can back them up and restore them. Also recent calls and call timers etc: where is this info stored in the phone?

Hi all you great helpers out there! I've gained so much knowledge from all you guys on this forum. It's soooooo helpful!!! Thanks!!!
When I receive a vcard via sms, I click on the vcard in the sms reader and up pops the message "the vcard has been imported successfully".
Great me thinks!
But when I actually try to find the contact in my contacts, it simply isnt there!!!!
HELP!!!
Thanks a billion for your help!
I had the same. In the end I selected the phone number and pasted it in a new contact manually :-(
Well, here's some things I know and maybe this will help you out.
vCards are imported into the phone memory. You don't have a choice.
If you have set you phone to view only a certain type of contacts (e.g. just Google contacts) then you won't see any contact sent to you via SMS or MMS. If this is the case, the just go to People - Menu - View and select the phone contacts to view as well.

Thanks for this. I've checked, but sadly, my people view isn't restricted yet I still can't see the contact my phone told me that it just saved.
I have two SMS messages that I thought were deleted, but when I reboot my phone they show-up with what looks like an SD card icon in the upper right portion of the message. I have combed through my SD card and don't see any saved messages. I can't seem to find anything on the main memory.
Anyone else have this problem and figured out a way to permanently delete these messages?
For that matter, how do you permanently save a text?
aspromalee
Sound like they maybe saved to ur sim. Before my tp2 got busted I used to get sms alerts from 129 saved to the sim when people would leave me voicemails on tmobile us. With my backup cell it saved text to the sim when my inbox got full. U sound be able to deleted like ne other text if not try ur sim in a different cell & try it.
The question is, where is it saved on my sim? I've been through allmy folders and can't find it. When I delete it and reboot -- it's back again.
(I'll give it a try on my original tilt and see if that will work. Thanks.)
what is it? i know one is for saved sms and mms but what is the other?
all my contacts are saved in the sim card as well so i dont know why it would be saved on the phone =s also is there anyway possible to move it so it stores the messages in the sd instead of internal memory?
When you open the dialer, you can see which numbers you called. This information is stored by dialer storage.
Hello everyone!
After looking through the forum and only finding threads about contacts, I decided to create a thread about my problem.
So here it goes:
Yesterday, I gave my old HTC Desire to my gf. She had a rather old and run-down Nokia and her SMS were saved to her SIM-Card.
I looked through the options of the phone, running CM9, but only found the option to delete the messages.
Is it possible to copy them to the phone?
If it is, how?
Thanks in advance!
I don't think this is possible - my Desire can't see any 'saved to sim' messages, which is a shame as I've a new sim and really want the old messages. Anyone with any luck with this? Even an adb pull/ command would do me - how do I access the sim?
try open the sms app then press menu then settings and look there. on my phone theres an option to manage sms on sim card, maybe u can move them there.
Sent from my HTC Desire
I'm blind. Or rather, I was blind! Completely missed that option. Works as it says on the tin, thanks!
lol good to know it works, i couldnt try coz iv no sms on my sim card
Sent from my HTC Desire
On my Android phone, there are only view/delete options in the SIM-card SMS management.
I can not move/copy the SMS from SIM card to new Android phone.
Is there any android app for this purpose ??
Pansi SMS... My MIUI messaging app didn't have the option to copy/move the messages from SIM to Phone Memory so I referred to my favorite messaging app, Pansi, yes it has this option

yes, @munchi 's answer is one of the apps.
try other sms apps. just search the net or playstore for other sms apps then check if it can copy sim messages to phone memory. sometimes stock sms has it, but other times you just need a different app that has that function.
There's handcent sms, go sms etc. , though i dont know if these have the function to copy sim messages. Theres also the "SIM manager" app in playstore by robotobia that can do that specific purpose and much more. Note that it doesn't work on all phones yet, but you may go check it out
I just tried robotobia's app on my galaxy Y. It can copy. But what should be classified as inbox, it became a sent message. I will contact the developer about this problem. So far, the only thing I find it useful for is to delete all sim messages in a flash. So i suggest finding a good sms app with this feature is still safer.
Hope this helps
