After updateing my Sprint Mogul with the latest ROM update for WM 6.1 I found out that Sprint disabled the internet sharing on my phone.
The only reason I bought this phone was because the sales person told me I could use internet sharing and connect it to my laptop and use it like a wireless modem.
After being told I would now have to pay for this feature and having 2 Sprint operators call me to ask me how I liked my phone. I went on a web site surfing mision to find a fix. And I did.
Here is what you do:
First let me warn you that you do not want to do this unless you are familor with editing your Registry files. One little mistake can trash your phone.
I bought a $10 Reg Edit program off Hanango, much better than $20 a month for a service I should already get with the Unlimited every thing plan.
You will modify the following:
HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings
Change the ForceCellConnection from Phone As Modem to Sprint PCS
Do a soft reset and your good to go. You connect just like you did before this last ROM update.

the new wm6 winwap browser sends you to http://wap.t-zones.com.
last night i tried it and it didn't work. tonight it does and it looks like tzones is back for the dash!
not really exciting but the bigger question is if tmobile is getting ready to restrict tzones customers to the new "tmobile web" only.

That wouldn't coincide with the launch of WM6 for the Dash. Those are separate departments inside of Engineering that have nothing to do with each other.
In any case, have you noticed that the new T-Zones for the Dash allows ringtone downloads? (or has it always done that?).
well that may be but they really can't shut down the proxy without giving the customers the tmobile web they were promised now can they.
They can, and are starting to, enforce service levels. Enjoy the free ride while you can. At most, if you object loud enough, they'll let you out of a service contract. Do you know of something in the TOS that provides a loophole? Got a link to it?

lol. i'm not using the t-mobile web plan since the proxy doesn't work for some of my favorite apps.
I'm just pointing out that tmobile is obviously setting up the "tmobile web" specifically for the 5.99 users and soon that may be all they have.
I have been able to get to wap.t-zones.com on my dash for a few months if i use the proxy. If i don't use the proxy, i get forwarded to the uk site (t-mobile-favourites.co.uk).
Are you able to use Messenger? Exchange Mail? POP3 or IMAP?

Before you go on to post "read the wiki" ,"search the thread noob" etcetc
Ive done that and i found no help for it other than some settings, which i already tried(didnt work) and ive gotten more settings from the fido csr
and ive plugged those in but still no.(tested gprs/edge by starting pocket IE)
no connection.
I've gotten the value pack for fido which includes the Instant messaging portal for msn and yahoo where i can chat and message and check email unlimited... now the only problem is i cant connect to gprs/edge to use it.
question 1. how do i get the dam settings to work?
question 2. am i able to use the messenger included in the rom? or do i need to use the one specifically for fido?
question 3. once the previous 2 are answered..... Am I able to make it where only the associated program uses gprs/edge for data..so that way if i use pocket ie on wifi i can still use watever im using with gprs?
ie: surf the net on wifi, while im chatting msn on gprs?
thats all i got for now,
I'm using a softbank x01ht with black majik rom.
Thanks for any help i receive.
When I first got a windows phone I was so determined to get it set for Fido's services. With my Universal it took me days to figure out what the settings were. I thought I knew everything after that. Turns out that there are a bunch of other factors such as MMS won't work until you've exchanged msg's with another FIDO customer. Also internet doesnt work without a proper plan first, it doesnt work like it used to , which was PAYG. Lastly the settings don't kick in until you reset the phone, and even then I have heard stories from some where it took upto half hour for some settings to kick in. I find it so complicated now that I seem to know where all the free wi-fi hotspots are around my area.
I hope this doesn't discourage you from figuring out ur settings through trial&error.
I encounter none of what you said. I dont use MMS so I am not familiar with ..all others is no big deal.
It takes me 30 seconds for set up and I am ready to go.
ps: I am on a unlimited for years.....
Well I guess it mustve been different with the Universal and your Hermes.
thanks for the feedback still havent figured it out as of yet though i do know theres supposed to be a dial out to *90# or something like that cant check the txt i received from fido right now.
anyways i hope to get it up soon, im gonna try to port over the IM program thats in my friends rogers tytn and see if i can change the settings on that thing for fido.
wish me luck
They toys bahave different

You bet money on it. I have an 8125 and also an 8525, both have exactly the same UI to set the connections up, however with exactly the same settings I´m able to surf the WEB, get GMail, all MSN Live services, etc only with my Wizard because with the Hermes I´m able to open just a very few wap sites. I´ve had this problem since day one with my Hermes and looking for a solution in this site and in many others I´ve found that I´m not the only lucky person with a $400 toy that performs worst than the cheapest Nokia, there´s a lot of people with same problem and nobody knows why this happens. (See my signature)
For those who've got it working, could you please share HOW? It would be much appreciated.
I just got done with classes for the semester and I want to spend some spare time getting my S620 (with IWireless service) to tether without paying the extra $40 a month. I have a data plan right now and can access the net with my phone, but I cannot tether.
Since the phone supports the .NET compact framework and J2ME shouldn´t there be a way to write some sort of packet forwarding program that will accept byte[]´s from the USB end the forward them to the phones modem? This way I can bypass the restriction and my provider will have no clue. Is this even possible? Thanks in advance.
Why can't your tether ? Because the provider says you can't.. or because you tried sharing and it doesnt work ?
Well, it actually worked on one laptop but not the other. Your comment made me double check and it turns out I won´t be needing to write a program for this. Now I can focus on the having fun with the RIL. Thanks!
Yeah, the internet sharing component on winmo is very touchy for some reason. It's like a woman... you gotta get in its good graces before it'll do anything for you... lol
ok so i got the 5.99 plan to use my internet and it works well and palringo works well but when i try to use the live search or the google map the program couldn't connect and it wont work, is there a way to fix this? i had this working before but dont know what happened

yeah upgrade to the 19.99 plan and stop trying to abuse the system
There are ways to do it but those ways are slowly drying up as T-Mo secures their ports for 3G
Time to pony up some dough
Also you will need to app unlock your Dash (search for it, its in the forums) so that the 'my location' feature works.

Your user name is your phone number (with area code)
Your password is the last four of your Social Security Number
Oh and official word from T-Mobile (if you can trust their reps information half the time) is 2009 to 2010 for T-Zones / T-MoWeb to be "discontinued". If you noticed you cant even access your T-Mobile album anymore from your handset, you must use a full internet access (Smartphone / Blackberry) or computer to access your Album (yeah I am probably one of the few that ever actually used the My Album feature from T-Mobile) Wap is going the way of the Dinosaur, I'm told the old wap will be replaced with a streamlined xhtml service (which actually is still wap.. duh T-Mobile) for their ringtone / wallpaper purchasing (like anyone still buys these things LOL)
Hi everyone!
I wanted to know how to configure my HTC S620 Phone with WM 6.5 to use the $9.99 data plan and NOT the Smart Phone Data Plan.
I wont use it to surf the internet, ONLY FOR EMAILS. I feel like I will be paying way too much for the Smart phone data plan.
Can any one confirm that the $9.99 plan works? If so what configurations did you do?
Thanks for reading and hope to find answers!
I would also like to know the answer to this question, as before I switched to a Dash, I had the web service that is listed as T-mobileWeb service. With the 6.5 WM 3vo rom, I have no problem loading the internet. But when I switch to Kavana's rom, I can send and receive text and calls, but have problems with accessing the internet, and it refuses to load. Am I doing something, or are these two roms actually set up to recieve data differently?
Also on a side note, I would prefer to use Kavana's so if anyone can shed some light on what settings I need to change so that my internet begins to function again, I would highly appreciate it, and I believe it would answer both of our questions.
Thanks, and sorry for posting in this manner, but I figured instead of starting a new thread, I'd just add it here while it was posted.
I thought that you had to have had the 9.99 plan......
Didn't T-Mobile get rid of new people getting onto it?
"Tzones Proxy Hack"
on another website they have instructions for it but in your profile i left you a message with the link. i've used this method for a while with no issues but its not my own thought up solution so take it for what its worth.
