Welcome everybody, as this is my first post here.
When open the memory tool from settings I see free storage (40,24MB) and free program (45MB). The slide is in mid position.
When moving the slide right I can increase storage/decrease programs.
I did it and got e.g. free storage/program 61MB/24MB
But when trying to move 38MB file from SD to storage I got no space message.
What is then the REAL storage memory size ?
Hi guys,
I have recently purchased an xda2i PDA and I was wondering what is the best way or if there is a solution to convert the PPC in to a mobile mp3 HDD player; I 've been reading about the backpack and I am a bit confused, ideally it would be nice if an external portable HDD could be added to the PPC via the SD slot. The PDA can only read a maximum of 1GB storage area via the SD memory card making the storage size very limited, hence increasing the storage size from 1 GB to 20 GB or more would be great!
Look forward to read your comments

Impossible via SD. Please read my explanation at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in...a_s_without_a_cf_card_slot_and_usb_hos&more=1
On Polish PDAClub forum we started disscusion re VM ( Virtual Memory ) for PDA - posssibility to move paging pool form RAM to SD card.
As we can see on this article SD Card can be faster then RAM , so we can create BIG paging pool on SD Card and have moer free RAM and :"maybe " much faster Universal.
@Mamaich - could you can help us with this solution ?
resuming this thread...could it be possible?

Storage cards are two or even three orders of magnitude slower than RAM in cases; this is why they can't be used at all as, for example, dynamic program/system memory.

Your idea would make your device slower than a punch card computer.

HELP!
I originally had an xda 2i. & bought Tom Tom nav 5 software for it. GREAT! However, now I've indulged in the Orbit, which takes a MICRO sized memory card.
How can I switch my program on to a smaller card.
Please say it is possible.
Thanks....

Well you can certainly move your files to new card using a PC card reader or even using active sync explore function. However programme installation files will need to be run again so registry entries are correct. That's why I keep copies of all cab files on my storage card.

I don't think there's such a thing as a class 10. It's 2, 4 or 6.
So your card might be a class 2 which is the slowest.
lool no no it's a class 10 for sure !
I've seen other users on these forums what have had trouble with Kingston MicroSD cards. They seem to have some issues working on the Rhodium.

oh....shxxxxxxxt ... :s so bad news :'(
I have an Adata 16gb class 6 and I have about 15.5gb of data on it with most of that being music. It takes about 5 seconds to start my music so you have a problem. I recommend you returning your card for a new one.
i had a kingston 16GB. i orderd it online, the price should have been a hint that it was afake. after purchasing i investigated fake before it arrived so i would know what to look for. it arrived looking legit , it even had the kingston paperwork and packaging, but it was a fake.
when i put in my pc and foramted it came back a 1GB stick. ya might try to format and see what happens.
oops just re read your post, omit my blabbing
Kingston microSDHC Class 10 16gb

I REPLY:
My card: Bought March 2010 at Newegg #20-139-120 "FLASH 16G|KST MICSDHC SDC10/16GB" (card + adapter)
I ran the Kingston Validation tool, since there are knockoffs out there, and got the Kingston "web_report" - verifying the serial and the license code.
Has run flawlessly and FAST on EnergyROM 23xxx (currently running Energy.RHODIUM.23673.Sense2.5.Cookie.Jul.24)
Total commander runs fast, no freezes. Currently loaded with only 771 items and 248mb, though, so it might not be a fair test.
I placed it in the SD adapter and plugged it into PC, and ran Disk Checker v3.3 (30 day trial from rssoftlab.com) and this is what it says: Kingston FAT32 512 bytes/sector 64 sectors/cluster (16gb, no partitions)
Saw a thread with a interesting HP utility at item #8 for someone who had a SD Card problem. Thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667513
-- points to files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197
Anyway, I hope someone has an answer for you. I don't know if anything I have written is helpful or not...
