I have used in the past an app which I don't remember the name, which blocks specific incoming calls or SMS, although with some major bugs, so I stopped using it. Is there a good FREE app that will do this and it's tested that it works?
Try callfirewall, it does a good job on blocking calls!

try a programme called magicall, it does work on hd for calls I've not tested with sms messages though yet
It's called MagiCall and it works like a charm
I bought it only for the reason you want it, but it has a lot of other functions too.

Um looking for qb app that can block outgoing calls on my phone, cos my operater blocks sms though if i block outgoing calls from my phone.. the apps I find seem to only block incoming unwanted.. can someone help me here with an app for outgoing?

I just wanted to know whether htc 10 has popup incoming call, the one which will keep you in any screen you are ant not interrupting you.?
Also, please tell me if the messaging app supports black listing phrases, so all of incoming messages with that phrase are blacklisted.

yes, htc default phone app and message app supports blocking unwanted people.
No heads-up notification for incoming GSM calls.. only for incoming calls on Hangouts Dialer (i.e. Google Voice)
No built-in SMS filtering based on the incoming message content..

Does anybody have a recommendation for an app that can block selected outgoing calls and sms texts from my wife's Galaxy S6. Incoming would be nice, too, but I already have an app that does this. Unrooted preferred, but will root my wife's phone if necessary.
So the reason I'm asking this question is because as you know in the u.s. the robo calls are outrageous. In the Samsung phone app you can block and report those numbers. But the numbers still show up in your recent list which to me is annoying. In the options you can pick which calls to show but then you'll miss out on seeing the other types of calls. I downloaded the Google dialer app and while it works it doesn't give you an option to block calls. If you click on the info button for that call you can't block it so that's a no go for me.
So what dialer app are you guys using that lets you block calls but also doesn't show those numbers when you block them?

try truecaller, its good although there is a lot of in your face ads asking for you to buy premium
Drupe is my pick - same about ads though - but awhile back I bought lifetime pro features and never looked back - it does the best at automatically IDing caller ID, handling blocked calls, recording, recents, favorites, and everything else I'm looking for in a dialer app. I hope you like it too! (It's totally worth giving a try even with the free version for a while)
