Well I've spent the weekend hacking the hell out of my new S621 to get it how I wan't.
One things thats really bugging me though. Using the built in keylock (manual) or automatic keylock, if the phone is locked and I answer a call the phone automatically re-locks once connected. Which means to do anything like speakerphone or even hang up the call I first have to unlock the keypad.
I've never owned a phone that was such a pain in the ass to hang up a call.
Is there a workaround for this? Something i'm missing?
Small but frustrating.

Hello,
I recently recieved a Dash from T-Mobile with WM6 Standard. 1 annoying thing I've noticed is that although the phone's keypad is locked, while reaching for the phone in the pouch, I've accidentally answered calls that I didn't want to . I wish there was a way that required a combination of at least 2 keys be pressed in a certain order before the call would be answered. This would be similar to unlocking the keypad. I could also prevent unknowingly answering a call if the ringer was on silent.
Wow, many views, no solution??
Im not sure about your phone, but you might want to disable any key answer
For my phone ( tornado ), its under settings, phone, call options
Hello karhoe,
Thanks for the suggestion, however that option is already disabled. The problem is that when the phone is in the case or in my pocket, the Answer Key can easily be activiated by the slightest touch which is not good. I'm suprised that more people haven't responded with the same issue.
Yes it happened to me a couple of days ago, quite annoying. The phone was just in my pocket and it rang. Reached in to pull the phone out, and apparently I had inadvertantly touched the softkey that answers the phone, before I could check the caller ID
Well there is no app that I know of that makes you have to press 2 or more keys to answer the phone. And that is what you would need, a 3rd party app.
It would be kind of dangerous or even more annoying under certain circumstances like driving. But if you had 2 different lock options, one normal the other for the 2 button answer, that would be cool. Very cool indeed.
But it does'nt always happen, I think it's happened only twice. Usually the phone is not in my pocket or on me in a holster, because I want to keep the radiation away from my body, so it's usually on my desk or sitting in the car if I am driving. In-between those times it is on me.
I'm afraid this applies to any phone of the Candy Bar type. Happened to me quite often to answer a call while reaching for the phone (S620 and S710 ans some other Nokias). Flip phones are much better for that. You got to open the phone to answer a call and you can still check the caller on the outside display before opening it.
You're right, a third party app setting a two level answer mode would be great, although don't know if this can be done, where the core of the phone handles the answering alone preventing any developer to set up an "answering sequence". Good idea anyway, curious to check on this one.
Ka.
Thanks for the replies. I'm still optimiistic that SOMEone out there may have a solution!
Sorry can't resist - If its someone you don't want to talk to, pretend you're on ATT and drop the call
I haven't had a problem. I use this case

@jamssx: lol
@timothyjok: thx for the suggestion, I've looked at that case before, but was trying to remain positive that someon may have software solution. sigh...
From http://www.shipiboconibo.com/dash/#callreject :
Disable Accidental Call Rejection
Have you ever recieved a call and as you pull your Dash out of your pocket it says 'Call rejected'? I have, and it annoys the hell out of me! I derived this hack from a hack telling how to enable this feature, but mine was enabled by default so I am going to assume the original hack was intended for the Excalibur and T-Mobile decided to enable the feature on their phones. By default (can anyone else verify this is default on the Dash?) simply touching the JOGGR strip on the Dash during an incomming call will reject the call. I hate this and here is how you can disable it!
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\JogBar\Settings\EnableRejectCallFunc = 0
As you probably guessed, this is a binary value, setting it to 0 disables it, 1 enables it.
I had this with Schaps 4.01 and now with a new rom (can't recall ATM but not sure it matters since this is happening with 2 different roms).
When I'm getting an incoming call, the phone starts ringing and immediately stops if I turn the thumbwheel. This is usually accidental as I'm pulling the phone out of the pocket, but very unnerving as I don't know whether I've hung up, answered, or still need to answer.
Is the wheel supposed to make a sound that's somehow canceling out the current sound being played?
Is this a setting that can be changed or a "feature"? Or a bug?
I believe this is a feature. like most phones, when you hit 'down' it silences the ring.
it's a good thing.

Yup, it's a feature.
I use it quite often when people call that I don't want to talk to at the time.
This way they don't know that I am ignoring them, as it continuous "ringing" silently.
I am not aware of a way of turning this off.
So if you accidentally hit the scroll wheel, then just look at the screen to see if you've hung up or still need to answer? That usually solves it for me right there..
That is correct.
This is not even a noob question. Check your device manuals.
The reason for this is when I am in the car and am using the bluetooth to answer the phone is in my case on my belt. When I get a call the screen comes on and even after the call is completed it stays on for 2 minutes. I then end up calling someone in the last called list if the screen bumps the case. I don't notice because my dumb car always wants to download the phonebook after every call and the stereo doesn't connect the outgoing call. Then someone tells me that they got 2 minutes of my music on their voicemail if they didn't answer. Ended up being very embarrassing when call went out and I made some comments that "someone" was not supposed to hear.
I looked with the advanced config tool but could not find anything.
Any ideas appreciated.
Tks
Perhaps stopping the screen from waking is too drastic. This means you effectively disable caller-id. I would suggest looking into installing a screenlock tool.
I am trying pocketshield for now. I was going to look at su2u but I was told that incoming calls still turned the screen on. Will see how this works for a few days.
Thanks
Well I tried pocketshield and it doesn't really do what I need. It still lets the damn phone call after I have hung up. It leaves the screen on and at the lasted called screen. bump the screen and it calls one of my last called list. Going to try Touchprolock now and see how that goes...
I have "locked" (AT&T stock ROM - using long press end key to lock) my device and then hit the power button momentarily.
This turns off the screen. When an incoming call hits, screens lights up. After call is terminated, screen turns off.

Self Dials last number and Voice commands turn on - Spooky
About a week ago I started noticing a microphone (ala Larry King) in my notification area at the top of my home page. I would come and go and make a small beep sound. Finally realized it must be voice commands. Well I keep turning voice commands off but they keep turning on. I have loaded no new software in the last week. I have never used voice comamnds.
Also about a week ago - and it is getting worse - after making a phone call and hanging up, my TP2 will start dialing the last phone number out of nowhere. It usually happens when I am on my home screen and I now move the phone. TP2 is my first touch phone and I have always had a lot of fat finger dials. I always assumed it was something that I did. But now out of nowhere, I am on the home screen, the phone starts to dial. If I pick the phone up and shake it, it will start to dial. this will happen a couple of times and then it stops. thinking that it might be related to the voice commands, but not sure.
Any help or ideas?
OK, still baffled. I do have a voice mail notification and voice commands are turned off. If I pick up my phone kind of rough and shake it a bit it starts to dial my last phone call consistently now.
Please someone help me. My friends are hating me.
OK, so it is definately related to having the voice mail notification. If the voice mail notification is present, then picking up my phone, kind of like tossing it in the air a couple of inches and catching it, will make it start to dial my last call. Once I listen to the voice message (and the notificaiton is no longer there), picking up the phone roughly does not make it dial.
I do remember that about 10 days ago I uninstalled T-Mobile visual voice mail. Then I kept getting a text message and had to call T-Mobile to have them do something on their end.
Still I need help to understand how to stop it.
yea my phone was doing the same thing recently but it was only when i had it plugged up to my car charger. I assumed it had something to do with the charger but im not sure if thats the real problem
It may be that mine only does it when it is plugged to charge also. At work, where I have really begun to notice it, my phone is always plugged into a split that has a charger and headphones.
Sounds like your talk/phone button is getting stuck. On most roms if you press and hold it it initiates voice comm. Pressed once brings up dial pad, twice calls the last number, press and hold is voice comm. So most likely its the hardware. Either that or paranormal activity. Set up a camera to catch it in the act.
I was starting to wonder if it was hardware, because if I shake it it dials. The phone button getting stuck makes sense. I did not know that click twice would dial last number and click and hold would turn on voice commands. Thanks for the info - exactly what i was looking for. Luckily I bought additional coverage (I have a six year old that likes to play games on my phone). Love the keyboard of the TP2, but would really like to get an android os. We will see.
Thanks again.
With every single custom rom here, when my screen is locked (at the slide to unlock screen), and I receive a missed call, my screen unlocks itself. It does not do this with the stock rom. It has done this with every custom rom, and even did it with my Moment when I was on a custom rom. Is this something that developers here are intentionally putting in the phone as a "feature"?
This problem causes my phone to start dialing people when it unlocks after a missed call in my pocket. A while back, someone called me, I missed the call, the phone unlocked, and I pocket dialed my mother-in-law while I was at the urinal. Really embarrassing at the time...funny when I look back at it now.
I now user Tasker to watch for a missed call event, and then it runs a screen lock application when I miss a call. This workaround gets me what I need, but it just bugs the crap out of me that it works with the stock rom, but not ANY custom rom. Does anyone have a clue why this happens? Am I the only one noticing this problem?
