Does anyone have a .cab file for MSN messenger that was avilable before the live version was released. I'd love to try it on the Orbit to see if it works as this will get around the contacts problem (and possibly another issue)?
<edit> I've done a search but only seem to turn up Live Messenger.
@darkblak
I couldnt find anything as well.
I am looking for the Messenger from the Original German O2 WM6 Rom. If anyone can help me? I dont like this Live log in.
Yes, similar - the older version of Messenger gets around the firewall here - whereas the newer "Live" version is blocked.
And I just hate the newer version.
Is there any version of MSN LIVE, which cant add anything into my contacts??
I have a Pocket MSN version from WM5 system which don't add msn contacts into the phone. I think it is better than any live versions.
Great post ! Thanks!

PLEASE Can anyone send the Windows Live Messenger Cab File from O2 Germany XDA ORBIT Windows Mobile 6
Many thanks!
Work perfect here. I hated this behavior of Live Messenger.
hi,
is it skype working into the pda??
Cavalier has Arm9 processor, and latest version of Skype needs Arm11 in order to make voice calls.
So, basicly if you install Skype, you will only be able to send sms - no voice calls (same problem with Hermes), but if you manage to find Skype 2.2beta, there could be a chance that it could work.
Cheers
i probably have it cuse i was using it on my hp 6915

My experience with the Skype beta on the cavalier
I tried the Skype 2.2 Beta on my cavalier (Dopod ROM). While it allows me to place phone calls, the interface of this version is all messed up on the Dopod making it close to impossible to use.

sorry for the delay..
i have skype 2.0.0.51...
but dopod 730 doesnt allow to install it.
how can i share it?
You can check for latest versions here I think:
https://developer.skype.com/WindowsMobileSkype
They point you to the 2.2 download now...
Use fring instead
Just use fring. It is WAY faster than the Skype program and it interfaces with your Skype account.

You should look into downloading a program called Palringo. It works great. I just downloaded it this morning, and it's working like a charm. Go to www.palringo.com. It allows you to run Yahoo! Messenger, AIM, ICQ, etc.
i don't even know what the latest versions are anymore, but does anyone have the latest .cabs for audio manager, msn messenger and vc. also, does anyone have a version of messenger with "nudge" feature for hermes???

Hello again all, I was wondering what program everyone is using for instant messaging? I'm using the one that came bundled with my t-mo dash but I just don't like it. Anyone have any suggetions?
You might as well do a search or take a look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290153&highlight=
I'm using Agile Messanger and I'm absolutely satisfied.
i am using the new skype. it works good with wifi and chatting also works with gprs after you once connected via wifi, the first time.
There is a new one that does them all (AIM, MSN, GTalk, Yahoo, ICQ, and Jabber) that is currently free and Java based. I quit using IM+ (which I paid for) and am using it exclusively. Currently the beta testing is closed while I think they upgrade their servers, but should open up again shortly I think).
It is supposed to be for the crackberries, but works great on my Dash and K-Jam:

Octro: www.octro.com
Free during beta. Big thing about it is it does Google Talk (VOIP) over 3g or even just 1x speeds.
Also does IM with GTalk, AIM, Y!, MSN and ICQ. It has a nice today plugin, customized away messages and auto-login/logout.

Works on my Excalibur and Blackjack..
I find Octro little bit strange as I don't see all of my contacts there and also Octro does not download the "nicknames" from ICQ server so I see only their IDs
Anyone know where I can get the OzInstantMessenger cab?
Agile Messenger is all you'll need. There are some annoying bugs here and there, but for the features it has, I believe it is the best option out there.

Wow, I have been using Octro for Gtalk but I had no idea that they also supported Y! and MSN! Is this a a new feature? I just updated mine like 3 weeks ago. That's wonderful (makes my paid version of IM+ looks positively lame).
Edit: Ahh, I am running v1.0 and v1.01 onwards added support for multiple chat clients. How fantastic!

it used to be until they unleashed that crazy pricing scheme. Plus, I get errors on staturp from it. It's never been the most stable either.

1.03 just came out about 3 days ago. It now adds vibration to the smartphone edition (which was lacking). It enables automatically in the "meeting" profile, etc.
such a great app. I'm hoping they add some SMS relay to the system too to save battery life (like Verichat had)...

McHale, did you have to do anything special to get JiveTalk running on your Dash or KJam. What version did you install? I am wanting to load this on my P3600 if at all possible, but I am getting java errors.
Thanks,
Shawn
I would also like to know how you got Jive Talk on the Dash. I just switched from a Pearl and liked using it on the BB, I would love to have it on my Dash tho. Any info would be great.
MSN Live
Is there a way just to get MSN Live from WM6 into WM5? Does anyone has it that could share it?
