More icons in PROGRAMS + SETTINGS - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

I've done a search but cannot find the answer!
When I received my MDA4 from T-mobile, on the shipped ROM, the resolution in the PROGRAMS and SETTINGS were higher, thus more icons (I think it was 5 or 6 icons wide)displayed on the screen.
I've installed Panosha's ROM (which by the way is excellent) and it's back to 3 icons width!
Anyone got any ideas how I can change it so I can use a higher resolution to display more icons or make the icons smaller?
I hope this makes sense?? Any help appreciated

Transparent Top/Bottom Today bar

Hi,
First to avoid the confusion, I'm NOT looking for the transparent curtain in TF3D, im not using TF3D.
I've got many nice wallpapers for today screen, however, the top (the bar that contains: start button, network signal, battery icon) & and bottom bar (2 soft button) make this unpleasant.
I've searched around and came across SkinMobile 5 & VJToggleToggle/Today ... however, it looks to me like they don't support WM6.1, nor WVGA.
SkinMobile5 v1.1 is what i tried, and it doesn't provide transparency, and has to be run in background
Could any one offer me a solution to make these bars transparent so I can see my wallpaper fully?
I thought these should be some png files that I can set transparency to?
Thanks...
guys... help please... How come all of my questions never attract any reply?
there are quite a few posts with replies out there mate
I can't seem to find any either if you know of some why not just get a link please instead of post whoring
i too woul be interested in transparent menu/task bars. let me know if you find anything.

Well i can 't find ANY when using search on transparent menu,
so if anybody know a link please . . . .?
i hope due to the wm6.5 wich has actually transparent windows task bar and bottom menue bar
it might be possible to get an mix version also for the diamond.
or only an tsk file which has this "colour for transparence"
would be realy cool
if anyone has it please send me an pm
greets
That's EXACTLY what I was thinking of !!
I've been trying to modify one of the Pocket PC Themes (a .tsk file), but unfortunately couldn't find no transparancy options for the top & bottom bars as you indicated ...
I used Netswap ThemeMaker X (TMX) & Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 Theme Generator.... Perhaps there is an advanced software somewhere that could actually help...
anyone got it solved
Transparent taskbar and commandbar

Mate,
Did u try this ? This is for WM6.5
Never got a chance to try it myself but looks promising
Give it a try but start from here
It will work on WM 6.1 & 6.5 + any Manila version
It may be possible for WM 6.5 with MaxTTM, but not for WM 6.1, MaxTTM can only change the icons of the taskbar but not the transparency. Hope someone comes out with an answer for the transparency - ( please note that the transparency is required only for the taskbar and the command bar - not the taskbar icons nor the softkeys) - Thankyou.
Edit1: Maybe something like below:
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/4871/honeycombui.gif
WM6.1 top/bottom bar transparent (not TF3d user)
I would also like to have this transparency... if anyone knows please share... thanks !!
so it's not possible with windows mobile 6.1??

Nope...
use hdwall just use the search function or:
1. Take your wallpaper
2. creat to new pngs one called mysoftkeybar.png and the other mytaskbar.png or whatever you like. (480x52 Pixel)
3.put the top of your wallpaper first 52 rows (sorry for my english) in the taskbar.png and the bottom 52 in the softkeybar.png.
4. Copy theme into \Windows\ folder
5. Edit the registry entries:
\\\registry\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Softkeybar\SoftKeyBarImage
to your pngs
same for taskbar
and reset device.
but i highly recomend to use hdwall much easier
oh i neary forgot your wallpaper image should now be 480x692 pixel's for the normal today (crop of the bars)
for manila use the normal wallpaper

Transparent taskbar and bottombar like wm6.5 possible?

Hi Folks,
first thanks for the beta of wm 6.5 which brings me to one question
on this picture posted by Cloudyfa you can see that the startbar and bottombar is transparent.
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb271/Cloudyfa/BetaWM65.jpg
is it possible due to file exchanges to get this also working on our now 2.03 diamond versions.
do you think it is possible.
i tried searching of an alphatransparent colour in wm6. so that i may be change it but no luck so far.
but when i tested wm6.5 i realized with the transparent bottom and top. my handyscreen looked even bigger.
would be nice to hear or see, if someone could make this possible

it's not transparent
in the first screenshot it's transparent.. just look
if u look very closely at the bottom right, ull notice that the boat doesn't quite align, also the text in the center disappears behind the bottom bar, this leads me to believe it isn't relay transparent but just a cropped picture that's the same as the background. However when i change the background those bottom bars change as well, but there still not aligned properly
this neverminds.
it's only 1px so you'll never notice it
anyway. it must be somehow possible. also when it is an the mainscreen.
but this would be awsome if someone could possible make an cab.
or just upload the tsk file. maybe there is a colour set as alphacolour.
dev's pls do it for us.
These screenshots are fake. I'm not going to tell you why - you should be able to find out for yourself.
Believe me or not, I don't care, but you'll see when 6.5 comes out, that I was right.

dude just check out the news. wm6.5 is official by MS and they have even given a demo of it on touch diamond 2.
the pics are real.
It isn't fake, but i believe it wasn't implemented properly by Microsoft, it hink the top and bottom bars just take part of ure wallpaper and set it as their backgrounf instead of actually being transparent, but it's a similar effect.
cmon guys.. have some sense!
1. they are not fake. I'm running this exact ROM right now
2. taskbar is not transparent. If any of you have used SE phones in the past, like K800, you'll know, it's just a theme which changes the graphics in the taskbar. looks nice as long as you like the main background. If you change the background, those cropped pictures in the taskbar remain there and look [email protected]

exactly my point, the OS may be real, but the transparency is fake
did you try changing your homescreen wallpaper to your own image. what do you see?
is it's also transparent.
Transparency is not fake and its real.
See what's new in windows mobile 6.5
The transparency you see isn't a "real transparent". The new CHome (Titanium home ui) creat that from your wallpaper to have it look like transparent. Anyone using WM6.5 can do a quick test by uncheck Titanium in Setting\Today to see
IMO, M$ already messed up by not doing a 'real' transparant bar

"New" Manila landscape backgrounds (Dutty Xtreme etc)

I've tried searching but can't seem to find what I'm looking for!
Has anyone managed to crack how to get backgrounds to look OK on the new Manila when in landscape mode? the closest i've seen so far is the blue max theme, but I don't want a blue theme or an analog clock!
Does anyone know how to get landscape backgrounds/wallpaper working properly?
failing that, does anyone know which .manila files I would need to edit?
hi,
i hope maxycy will give us instructions how to manage it by ourselves!!!
i hope mun_rus will find out a good solution in order to have our own background in all tabs too.
ciao

Hi, i've made a copy of the wallpaper... It should resemble the original one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486358
Greetz
Well, I did manage to do that somehow..
Basically, you'll need a 800X480 or 1330X800 pixels wallpaper..
Doing so, you'll have wallapapers that support landscape mode, but not all would work!
Have a look at mine
Nice, How did you do that
here you have the new manila background took form the new manila 3.0
can u put some screen shot
can u put some screen shot for this cab

I tried installling it over Dutty V2 with Max blue theme, and my manilla got FUBAR. It got stuck and tabs disappeared.
Guess this only replaces original v3 manilla?
edit: just took a look at the .cab. Are you sure it installs everything? Looking at the setup xml, it doesn't do anything with the "BACKGR~1.000" file..?
Right, I think people are mis-understanding here!
I am after (and this thread is about) changing the background picture ON MANILA V3 (as in Dutty Xtreme and other ROMs) Manili V3 supports landscape mode, but currently the background picture doesn't stretch or re-orientate itself to accomodate landscape images. Instead it appears to centre the image around the middle of the portrait screen, and remain locked in that position in landscape mode.
This thread is NOT about making Manila V2 (as in Stock HD) LOOK like Manili V3
Blessed HD, I've tried doing it that way, but unfortunately, given the images I use for my backgrounds, the resulting images are significantly worse quality than normal Otherwise, this method does work and does result in a full-screen-width image in landscape.

By using a 800X480 or 1330X800 pixels wallpaper!
As for the clock & buttom bar;
Clock: I used Max's Analog Clock for Dutty's ROM
Buttom Bars: 12aon Iphone Renaissance Icons / Text theme Icons
Transparant Buttom bar + transparant slider

Exactly !
& that's why I'm using this method until someone figures it out
Another solution here is to use pattern wallpapers, not the ones with a spacific picture in the middle.. & try to maintain its graphic quality within the 800X480 pixels..
There should be a trick to it.. but I don't know how........

Yeah, I'm curious to find out whether there's a specific Manila file for portrait and landscape or whether it's just the one file scaled/stretched for both...
If there's sparate files, then that could be used to good avantage!
Don't have the time to filter through each and every .manila file to find them though!
The way I got to understand it, is that there is 2 files for landscape and 2 for portrait.
Check my post here as well, might clear things up.

Can we make custom high res icons for apps?

Hi I have tomtom installed (josh black rom or what ever its called) and it has the 3x3 large quick start grid on the home tab. The default tomtom icon is very low res and ugly can i make my own icon and replace it and if so how?

Yes it can be replaced with a higher-res version. There's numerous threads over in the 'themes & apps' section with icon sets and instructions on how to get them on your phone. Many of the aftermarket icon sets do include much nicer versions of the tomtom program launch icon.
Thanks very much I'll go for a hunt

[Q] DPI DHD

Ey!!
Maybe a silly question, but does somebody know how to change dpi on DHD?
I mean, my screen can handle 5 ''icons horizontally'' ,
how can I change the dpi to get for example 10 ''icons horizontally''.
Thanks in advance.
There's a thread here abouts for changing the DPI (although might only be if you have Cyanogen ROM) but the search I'm sure you'll do will bring it up.
Home Replacement apps like LauncherPro or ADWLauncher allow you to set number of icons but can be a bit hit or miss.
Thanks for your reply,
i got launcher pro, i made it 5icons horizontally en 4icons vertically.
if you make it more, the icons gets ugly, they dont fit normal, and some problems...
what it does, it makes the icons smaller but doesnt change the screens dpi i think.
i got stock rom.
The ugly icon issue is why I didn't bother changing it.
With a stock ROM, unless it's rooted I doubt you'll be able to change the DPI. I do recall someone mention an App but I memory serving it was for the Galaxy and tests failed on the DHD.

Both methods require root access (A rooted ROM).
true story, which makes mines NOT ROOTED xD
so i have to root it first..? no other solutions?
No you can't change your dpi without root.
