I did a search and couldn't find anybody with this same problem so I thought I would ask.
I am trying to update to the new offical Bell Mobility GPS Rev A. ROM.
Currenty on NFSFAN's Bell v1.11 cooked ROM. and the leaked Sprint radio.
Using 2.31 SPL.
Never had problems flashing before when I was testing out different radios. Now none of the RUUs I used before will work on my phone now.
Here is what happens:
1. Connect with AS, then run update EXE
2. Everything runs normal until the instant the ROM update progress meter appears on the PC screen.
3. At this point AS disconnects (the phone is no longer detected by the PC) and in the Bootloader it says "Press power button to update" (It never showed that message for any previous updates, it just did it automatically).
4. So I press the power button and after about 5 seconds it says update completed. But actually nothing happened at all. I have to soft reset to get out of Bootloader.
5. After a couple minutes the RUU on the PC will time out and give ERROR 260. Which has to do with lost connection.
I have tried this on 2 different PCs, soft resetting my touch and rebooting the PC and switching USB ports, about a hundred times.
It seems the problem is that the phone looses it connection to the PC as soon as the RUU tries to upload the new ROM to the phone. But I have no idea why this is happening all of a sudden or how to fix it.
PLEASE Help!!!
Problem Solved!!
I think I must have tried about a thousand different things. At some point I noticed during an attempt using the 2.31 unlocked that it mentioned something about memory cards formatted a certain way causing a screen to come up that said "press power to update". And since this was happenning to me when it wasn't supposed to... I just removed my memory card and tried the update again, and POOF!! Worked.
I don't know why the memory card would affect flashing but there it is.

Are you trying to flash a custom rom? If so, are you unlocked?
Do you have your memory card in when you try to flash?
What device, carrier, radio, rom version etc etc do you have?

Hi,
When i first got my BA, i upgraded from WM2003 to WM6.
This worked ok for everything (A few glitches here and there but i could live with them), but then, my phone battery had ran out, i charged it and loaded it up again and it now shows No Service on the today screen, so I can't make any calls off it.
I also noticed that when the phone boots it shows No GSM where it used to have 2 different numbers.
I've tried reflashing it to WM5, and also to WM6.1 but both of these didn't seem to fix it. The WM6.1 version I used can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390862
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Thanks!
Yes, fix is quick and easy and you can do it even at home: a soft reset.
Hi,
thanks for your reply,
I have tried soft and hard resets but this doesnt seem to fix it.
I wanted to try upgrading my Radio rom but when I ran the updater I got error 114. I'm not too sure what this means though?
Thanks!
Solution against "No Service" issue
Have a lot of Siemens SX66's. Just took one and ran unlocker, then flashed WM 6.0 and upgraded radio to 1.15.00. After that inserted SIM card and saw permanent "no service" message. Tried HR few times for no avail. Here's what really helped: I ran universal unlocker once again and then did soft reset. Voila! System booted and connected to GSM network. Hope somebody will find this useful.
Hi, All!
2 Larik007:
Did you have similate trouble with radiorom?
I have analogic problem with my BA (iMATE PDA2K)
At boot screen I see
No GSM
D 6.14 WWE
and boot process stops at this position.
Once my BA was booted up with this trouble, and goes to reboot and all repeats again.
I can't reflash radiorom.
At 61% I have "Error 114: Radiorom upgrade error"
I tried to reflash radioroms from 1.02 to 1.15, but nothing positive.
:-(
Can anybody help me?
No, my problem is because of some kind of error during unlock process, I guess. And your problem appears to be similar to "No GSM" issue of Hermes phones. But it may be repairable unlike Hermes ones...

I have the same "no service" issue. Can you give me a link for this magic universal unlocker
- what is this anyway?
Thanks!
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Unlock_Sim
Look for a link under word "this"
i had this problem, heres what i did that made it work,
1.re-insert the battery
2.press the on button
3.press the reset button TWICE
EVERY time you turn it off and on do this, but if you reset the phone you dont need to do it twice.
hope this works as it did for me,
Josh.
Partial solution for "No signal" problem
I think the idea was posted by xplode sometime ago- I spent a day playing with it, but it finally worked for me.
0) I had unlocked BA with 2003. Later on I upgraded it to WM 6.1 and then at some point I've got this "No service" issue. I upgraded my Radio to 1.15 (it did not help me- but I did this in the very beginning, so may be it matters)
1) I downgraded ROM to one of 2003 ROMs (xplode has a collection: http://tinyurl.com/cozbbx)
-) downgrade instructions are in here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgrade
2) I unlocked band page for the network connection- it was discussed in (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297099)
2.5) I finally used this cab : http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=23788&d=1121269005 to set band selection to 900/1800 (still no service)
3) I removed sim card and did a hard reset followed by soft reset. I put a sim card back and soft reset BA.
--- I guess at this point it's 2003 with 900/1800 band and working
4) I upgraded my ROM to 6.5 and it is working now.
the link is dead.sorry for my bad english i've tried all the procedure but still had no gsm on my xda iis dont have imei and i cant see my radio version can you help me....
Lucky You that I still have troubleshooting tutorial in my file archive. I've written it by myself when was unlocking many of these devices.
Although I'm not sure if it will help with symptoms You listed...
Here it is what you can try to do if your Blueangel PDA phone constantly showing "No Carrier" and it is not possible to enter phone settings:
1. Take off the battery from the phone while it is turned on.
2. Place the battery back in, turn on the phone. At bootup there should be stated "NONE" instead of versions of "R" and "G" (seems that it is required to be so).
3. After OS had boot, run the Unlocker. Few times, maybe.
4. Reboot.
Hi - while trying to install Skype, the entire OS simply crashed. The phone does switches on but no longer finds the OS. Hence, I have no way to get an ActiveSync connection. Is there any way to install a clean O/S onto it?
Thanks in advance,
First step take your time to read the sticky located at the top of forum..
You could try an hard-reset and if all else fails flash stock ROM via bootloader, then update to ROM of choice.
Error 300
Thanks. I did. Particularly the "unbricking instructions post" from ookba.
The issue is that my Dash does not even start up. Hence, there is no way for me to get an active sync connection.
Current Status:
- phone can be started by pressing the Camera key and Power, which shows the red-green-blue screen
- phone can then be connected to the PC via a USB connection. I hear the ba-bing, but the phone does/will not establish an Active Sync (which makes sense)
- downloaded the TMO official ROM from the TMO site which is a WM6. Now, I know my phone did not previously have WM6. It probably had WM5.x but I cannot find the SHIPPED ROM anywhere.
- when I tried the RRU from TMO WM6 ROM, I got through all the way to upgrading. At which point, the mobile screen went to a white/grey with status bar stuck at 0%. But the PC application crashed and gave an error 300.
repeated the same with Kavana's ROM and the same issue.
I am looking through the forums for error 300 but most solutions seems to require an Active Sync connection. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
have you tried hard reset? thats your best option
like stylez said, find the stock rom that was already on your phone and flash that.
i know you said you cant find it but it'll be online somewhere
look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381726&highlight=official+roms
The key here is that you find your original stock rom, I had the same issue a while ago and took some time to get my stock rom in the web, since the forum didn't have it. I found it in the rapidshare library http://rapidlibrary.com/index.php?q=rapidshare+library, searching under HTC s621 rom. Additionally, have u try method # 3 in the unbricking tutorial? It worked for me.
dear all,
My Telstra branded HTC Desire 8183 died out of nowhere.
Here's what I did:
Rooted with R5
MCR 3.1 ROM (custom kitchen with A2SD+) and r17 froyo rom (mostly MCR3.1)
everything went well, and i was happy with it for 2 weeks (blasting fast HSDPA speed and runs perfectly fine)
i noticed the signal strength was really low two days ago, i thought it was my area having service outage. (called and confirmed) I had my girlfriend's Nexus One AT&T version side by side she's getting full bars.
now the phone will show Emergency Call Only all the time, sometimes even with signal, i wont be able to use the data connection (it's show H, but cant even load google.com with the browser)
Diagnostics that i had done:
unroot with generic WWE rom with goldcard (since the telstra rom that people posted on here have 0.75 bootloader and mine is 0.8 so i can only use 1.21 generic WWE rom)
root again with R5 method
update radio
install MCR 3.1 again
replaced my sim card at AT&T store just to make sure
called AT&T to inquire about service outage
none of them works, now i'm stuck with a phone that doesnt make phone calls and data connection.
did i do anything wrong that mess up the radio of the phone? are these rooting guide and custom rom don't support 8183?
please help me! i really like this phone and it's such a waste to let it sit there
best regards,
ted
The emergency calls only thing is usually associated with a sim problem - like invalid sim, unactivated sim etc.
Have you paid your account?
thanks for the advise
yes i did...same thing happened, sometimes when i get signal, i cant seem to use data connection...cant even make phone calls...if im lucky i can make 1 out of 10 times..
i suspected the sim card problem, that's why i went to AT&T store for a replacement.
Solved
I had the same problem, I also have the A8183
To solve it, I went fastboot mode with USB plugged.
then on Android SDK, I did :
./fastboot-mac enableqxdm 0
./fastboot-mac oem boot
just fastboot for pc
and the phone reboot, turn it off and insert your SIM.
I knew it was fix first boot because sdcard was now mountable.
Then SIM was recognized.
But then I have USB problem in recovery, I think I'll need to flash the misc partition.

What you are describing is the fix for the usb brick issue. This is not the problem here.
To me this sounds like a faulty handset, as all the software fix options seem to have been done. I'm no expert though!
what is fastboot-mac
im using windows xp with androidsdk tools
i have fastboot command...how do i type that?

Try flashing to a different compatible radio version as the version you currently have may be causing the poor reception/signal strength issues.

Hmmmm - the rooting process does not affect the A8183 - cos that's what I've got and it works fine. Maybe try and flash the Telstra ROM? That's the one that would have come with the phone in the first place. Who knows, that might reset something? Probably a long shot but you sound desperate!
You can get that ROM in the ROM sticky in this topic.
Now i have 0.80 bootloader it wont let me install the telstra rom since bootloader version being different (0.75)
any idea how i can override that?
After the rooting process when i first got the phone everything was working fine til two days ago

you could try this: http://android.modaco.com/content/h...-com/310186/mcr-telstra-8183-mod-version-3-5/
I think that will work with 0.80 bootloader.
I guess it's not easy to take the device for repair as I'm tippin you got it through eBay or similar, and HTC in the US probably won't support the warranty.
I believe that i had sort of the same issue as you are describing, sometimes my 3G connection died, and there was nothing i could do too get it back, and it sometimes failed to make a connection when i tried to make calls with full coverage.
I don't know how i got the problem, because the phone has been fine since i rooted it 1 week ago.
I decided to go back to the latest radio update I had before I rooted, and now it works fine again.
I used 32.34.00.28U_4.05.00.30_2 from the stock HTC radios thread. (new users not able to post links)
Hope this solves your issue as well, I have an unbraded Desire A8181.

im going to give the radio you mentioned a try...would u mind telling me where are you located and what network provider are you with?
Tried that radio already now it shows signal but the behaviors are the same, feels like its trying to establish connection but got stuck on upload (not sure if thats the case since only the up arrow stay lit but not the other one)
@teddyonair: did u drop down ur mobile by any chance ??? might be some hardware disconnection inside is giving u this trouble i guess.... otherwise with so many software reflashing & modding,ur mobile should have been working by now....
u better get a professional help either from the htc or from someone who deals with htc repairs.... this is my sincere advice if u wish to listen to me.... hope u have not screwed up ur mobile.... might be a hardware problem... just try this once... ok ????
i've managed to unroot the phone with telstra shipped rom. phone has been acting the same way.
so im not sure if it's the hardware issue. anybody has experience how to send the phone back to Telstra Australia for repair?
thanks!
It sounds to me like you may have a faulty antenna in your phone
rooted mine my bros and bros girlfriends desires...
all went fine, no problems.
then my bros girlfriends started doing this thing and would'nt connect to wifi...it says turning on then error.
i thought ok, its an old rom version updated to the latest along with the latest radio 5.20 (or whatever it is ) and still the same....
ok...must be the rom...tried opendesire, which is working perfect on my phone and its still not working....
so to shortlist the problem is when i try connect to wifi it says turning on...then error...and wont even turn on...
definately not the rom.
definitely not the radio.
anyone got any ideas?
i tried to flash back to stock RUU but it would not let me "update" it with an HTC ruu a europe RUU and even a TMO UK ruu....
just kept saying cant update....
so anyone got any suggestions?
thanks!!
The same problem with me. I flash several ROMs, but no change. I think it's hardware fault.
Full wipe before flashing new roms? Have you tried a FroYo sense rom?
Sent from my HTC Desire
Now i use office 2.2 ROM, the same problem.
ye wiped and everything.
i cant even flash a RUU package which is gay!!
ill try a few other things and see if i can get it to work....and then maybe just send it back for repair or something.
I seem to have the same issue did anyone have any luck?
Just to give more background to me issue:
I've come up against a weird bug\issue\failure.
I've been running Leedriod ROM for a while with very very few issues. I upgraded to 2.0c over the weekend & everything was working fine.
This morning however neither my wifi or bluetooth is work.
Wifi tries to start but I simply get "Error" in Setting-->Wirless & Network-->Wi-Fi
My bluetooth has also stop working.
I'm not sure if this is related to the Leedroid ROM or potentially a hardware failure...
I have gone back to 1.9 (last know good backup) & I've done a complete fresh wipe & install of 2.0c. None of which I have had any luck with. I've also trawled the web and forums but nothing similar is popping up....
Any help or advice much appreciated...

Sorry, mate...somewhere in my brain I thought I have replied to you. I tried the USB Brick Fix you suggested but no luck....
I'm beginning to think it's a hardware fail....
Normally means you didn't update with the gold card in the phone - you need this for ALL updates on previously branded phones...
What exactly is a USB brick? Does it brick the phone or just stop the USB from being able to update the phone?

Hey, I have much the same issue, I've tried a whole lot of ROMs and none of them seem to make the wifi work.
As soon as I revert back to the original installation it's working as expected, but whenever the phone is flashed (with the updated radio too), wifi stops.
As far as I can tell, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G are fine, but wifi tries to connect states that it's "Acquiring IP Address" and then disconnects and starts the cycle again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Do you use the gold card when updating?

Hey, no worries!
Your symptoms definitely suggest your phone is "usb-bricked". What method did you try?
This is the best (and easiest): http://android.modaco.com/content/h...com/309939/usb-brick-rickrolled-b0rked-fixed/
I followed it myself with success some time ago.
If your phone is no longer rooted, you will need to root it. Else start with step 2.

Sometimes when a update/flash goes wrong the Desire going in to a low level debugging mode, which we refer to as a "usb-bricked Desire".
You will observe the following symptoms:
* FM Radio Malfunction.
* Bluetooth Malfunction.
* Charging doesn't start immediately.
* Radio Malfunction.
* SD Card Malfunction.
* Unable to connect your phone using USB when booted into Android.
* Unable to connect your phone using USB in Custom/Pushed Recovery.
...other than this, the phone will work as expected.
So the WiFi problem is something different. I was directing my reply directly at IEArmand because we were chatting on a different thread.

Hey, I rooted my phone using the Unrevoked method, I didn't think I needed a Gold Card to complete this.
Maybe I read this incorrectly. Can I just repeat the process with the GC?
And...does the GC help with Rooting or Flashing?
Thanks.
That's rooting, you don't need a gold card for that. If you want to flash a generic ROM onto your branded Desire you'll need a gold card. If you want to flash a custom ROM, you just need to use a custom recovery (which you'll have thanks to unrEVOked)
As for JustinTrouble not needing one, I'm guessing it's just Orange users having issues then as most people need the gold card to stop the WiFi issue rearing its head

Did you flash the DZ Hboot before flashing those particular ROMs? I'm assuming so... have you tried posting in those ROM threads? Maybe someone there has an idea... I've never used those ROMs or had a similar problem. But it might be worth obtaining a new SIM card. They do tend to have problems as they get older. Do you have the same (or any other SIM/network related) problems on other ROMs?
If you did not flash the DZ Hboot... well, then the ROMs shouldn't really be booting at all. The DZ Hboot allocates more system memory so that the G2 can handle the gigantic monster that is Sense. Here's a link to a great how-to for changing Hboots: http://www.virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html
The link for the PC10IMG file doesn't work at the moment but it's available on the wiki, or I can PM it to you. And of course, if you have already done this, please disregard.
Wouldn't you get bootloops with no dz hboot? OP stated it works without sim or when airplane is enabled.
Try a non sense rom and see what happens
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Yeah, one would think... I just happened to read another thread the OP posted in, and I inferred that, perhaps, he hadn't switched Hboots. So, I thought I'd mention it.
