edit the BuildOS launching line inside BuildNB.bat and remove /auto

I removed the -auto switch and now the DOS window says "Creating 'dump' folder....." and just hangs there and the BuildOS window doesn't load any packages and is blank.

Excellent! I was just starting to sit down and do this as well. The provided OS.nb.payload - is it standard or BigStorage?

Something's wrong. It boots fine, but it is not working OK. Can not install cab's or xml's.

Provided payload looks like the old one from bepe's kitchen.
Funny thing is that I tried with other payload files but is a no go. Have no idea why so far.

boots fine bud did not sync with active sync
i can only copy files not contacts

Seems to boot ok, but it seems to have issues with the phone and other operations... tried multiple things, but can't get the dialers to work etc...
Some things are still in chinese, but I've managed to fix that up... Still far from a working ROM however...

Has a bugs???
I had tried and found this issues:
- notify.dll not running on service
- can't import (BETA, make your own rom) dsm. that's why my device can't running autorun, sync and others provxml reg updated.

I have ported the WWE Kaiser one from HTC e-club: 5.2.19209 build 19212.1.0.3 and working quite sound.

Kitchen has errors, cant find os.nb.payload. insert.exe crash. Can you fix this errors?

Japanese WM6.1 ROM for X01HT

being tired of seeing too many protected roms floating around, i decided to make japanese wm6.1 cooking base files myself. it took me awhile, but i finally figured it out. i would like to share my experience of making a japanese wm6.1 rom for hermes here.
actually, it is not that difficult, and all i did was just assembling pieces from different official roms. so, i would NEVER call it my OWN rom or anything because every part of the original roms was developed by MS and HTC. (sorry, but i really think it's too funny many people, who know slightly better than others, put their names in the ver info, apply procection or whatever to their roms, and say "this is my own rom!" for something made out of other roms originally built by MS and HTC.... is this place for dev info sharing for similar-minded guys? donations?? c'mon!)
i will explain about the details step by step later. here's a rough tutorial.

[basic strategy]
[oem]
1) bepe's oem folder is very simple and clean for cooking (some modifications are necessary in *.rgu files, tho)
2) replace OEM.cer by the one from x04ht rom
[rom]
1) basically, you can take OEMXIPKernel from bepe's xip or from htc hermes official wm6.0 rom
2) MSXIPKernel and MSXIPKernelLTK are from x04ht rom or whatever you want
3) use os.nb from htc hermes official wm6.0 rom just as a template
[sys] (tricky)
1) the base is opal sys. but remove all the language specific (0409) folders.
2) take the language specific but non-vga folders from x04ht, x05ht or whatever wm6.1 japanese rom (0411 folders not including dpi_192)
3) take language specific qvga folders (the 0411_DPI_96 folders) from s11ht
4) take .vm folder, packages.* in metadata folder, and service.exe in os folder, shell32.exe and shellres.dll in shell folder from hermes official or bepe's sys. (irda is not included in opal rom. take them from bepe's rom if you wanna use irda.)
[points]
1) don't forget to copy WinCENLS_Lang_0411 into your sys. otherwise, the device does not boot since WinCENLS_Lang_0411 is not included in xip.
2) if you take sys from any newer versions, taskmgr does not work since it is not signed by softbank. remove mxipupdate_taskmgr_shell_1.provxml in base_lang_0411. it's useless, anyway.
3) this method does not create shotcuts in windows\appbuttons. you need create those shortcuts with japanese names yourself to make the buttons work properly. (does anyone know how these shortcuts are automatically created?)
4) os ver info is stored in the original files. (read here for details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1172925&postcount=1) you can change the ver info as you want, but i REALLY hate to see ver info with someone's name or some personally customized splash screeens. so, the ver info does not reflect the actual ver you take all the files from.
5) i don't think this works only with hermes but with any other qvga devices (you have to change xip part.) hope many other qvga device users can make (assemple?) their own japanese wm6.1 roms freely.
question:
i made a shortcut file with 14 japanese (2 byte) letters and put it in the windows directory, but the hermes did not boot. i changed the name to 13 japanese letters, and then it booted... are there any filename restrictions for east asian language files??

I'm Andy. Thank you very much, qtotter-san.
Lately I've been thinkin about changing my handheld (I'm using BA and MPx200 at this moment). But, despite my condition as a Japanese language student, I would love to have a Handheld powered by Japanese Windows OS. To buy Japan's handheld seems to expensive for me, so I decided to search for Japanese ROM first, then decide which one shall I buy.
I've been searching all the time for Japanese ROM (not 日本語化 ROM but 日本語版 ROM FILES), n finally, look what I found here, not only Japanese ROM, but Hermes WM6.1 Japanese cooking base (very big thanks ^o^). I've tried to search in xda-developers, and some other forum, but still unable to find Japanese ROM. I'd also sent private messages to Japanese developers here, but still I have no idea where to find Japanese ROM.
And now, I found this thread. This really helps me.

Opal/Diamond Dialpad
if you use opal dialpad with japanese wm6.1 rom, smart dialing stops working. i happened to find a solution while playing with my diamond. just delete the following reg key to make smart dialing work.

[Question] New XIP -> only 1/4 display showed?

Hi everyone
I'm playing with a new XIP to insert in my modded AZTOR HD but I can only see a quarter of the screen! It seems that this thingy is running as a QVGA device!

HD size of the screen different than Diamond .. that why you get small pics of it

My guess is that you probably didn't port the xip well.
The original 21109 build (which is btw, a chinese hex) comes from a hermes, which is qvga.
It was subsequently ported to Polaris, which is still qvga anyways.

You need XIP and SYS from one build. I had this troubles when using new XIP 20757 and old SYS 19965. After updating SYS all been ok.

or just replace these two files(folders) from new sys to the original one
OS\gwes.exe
Base_lang_0409\gwes.exe.0409.mui
and then run Greloc again

replacing gwes.Exe from same version than xip is suffisant

Hmmm, but why do I get the same results when trying the extracted XIP from Vic Diamond ROM 3.2 (CE OS 20954.1.5.0)?

Check in your SYS if you have any .96 dpi files which have remained by mistake.
As previously suggested, take gwes from a vga/192 build.

I used AZTOR HD (v8) as my base ROM and replaced ONLY the XIP section with the mentioned XIP from my last post! I haven't changed anything in the SYS section and getting this error!

Hmm. As previously mentioned, the XIP is a device specific, language independant portion of a ROM.
This might get you started.

you can resolve this error with a XIP and SYS = (es. 20757 and 20757)

Asus WM6.5 Porting

I'm trying to port my Asus P565 (XDA Zest) to WM6.5. This is my first attempt at cooking a ROM and I'm a little stuck - I just can't get the device to boot after flashing.
These are the steps I have done so far:
1. Used p835abisplit2 to extract Original WM6.1 P565 ABI into os.nb0
2. Extracted XIP from os.nb0
3. Extracted imgfs dump from hdubli's 21231 ROM
4. Ported XIP using XIP Kitchen, original XIP as Device XIP, 23022 as Donor XIP & hdubli's 21231 .VM & .ROM folders
5. Padded XIP to original size using bPatch.exe
6. Copied SYS from 23022 into Vivi's P252 kitchen & rebuilt using BuildOS
7. Created imgfs.bin from dump folder
8. Merged XIP.bin back into os.nb0
9. Merged imgfs.bin back into os.nb0
10. Converted to .abi & flashed to device
And I can't get it to boot no matter what. As I said, I'm a n00b to cooking ROMs, so if someone could point out where I'm going wrong I would be eternally grateful!

Use the original 6.1 abi to get OEM and SYS
USe the OEM and use 6.5 SYS from the builds here
Use the scripts which I have mentioned

What about P552w? Are the step same as P565?
And How to add the language packages into the list?
Because, It's not suitable to use ervius Kitchen to process Asus ROM
Oh, where could I get the hdubli's scripts?
Moreover... May I know the minimum file list in OEMMISC for making cleaner ROM?
i.e. without Youtube&Flickr, ClearVue PDF Viewer, Asus Today, Asus Launch!, EziMusic, EziPhoto and StreamingPlayer

I have copied OEM packages from 6.1 ROM & SYS from 6.5 ROM into Kitchen & built OS. Still nothing. Do I need to copy anything from new/old XIP into kitchen? Does anything else need to be done to XIP after I port it via XIP Kitchen? I took out hd.dll, osaxst0.dll, mencfilt.dll and cachefilt.dll as there wasn't enough space in the XIP - does this matter?
Also, I am using the .VM file from your ROM for G'Reloc.
I think I'm missing one crucial step somewhere
Nagato - I think P552w should be the same process, only using different SYS DPI. For languages you need the appropriate SYS files for your language from Da_G's thread here:
