Sorry to be a pain, however there are lots of WM6 roms for the p3600 and i am looking for a good one. I know that they all have thier best bits but i am not sure which one to go for, i need it to be WWE
Is there somewhere where they are listed with a few notes as to any issues with each one
I have done a search and not found anything that lists them or compares them
Any help much appreciated
the reason why there are soo many is that people pref various roms because of the various programs they contain
all comes down to openions
There is no list with pro's and con's but if you read my signature you will find the wiki where most of them are listed.
You have to try a lot of them and decide by your own, and maybe later you will make some sort of list with pro's and con's
In my personal experience i've tried more than 15 different rom's
Good luck with your search...
Personally I like Mary 2.02 or PVAVIET Roms everything seem to work on these with having to tweak etc
mary 2.02 for me...well at the mo anyway
now using AX3L
I personally have tried all roms produced by all rom makers and I do not think I am going to stop trying new ones, each rom version I have tried had something different, but they all have good speed and stability, evey new rom would have something new (OS, HTC stuff, com managers,.....etc)
The strange thing is as the trinity is used all over the world and thus users are using different connections and therefore rom builders have to take into consideration all unique local connection methods -- which is impossible.
For that reason a lot of the bugs reported in many roms are not seen with many users.
To cut long story short, there is no best rom, but there is a good rom that works fine on my device where I live.
You have to find out that rom yourself. (once found; back it up on your SD and consider it your safe rom to revert back to)

Many thanks for the help and the replies, i will get testing the roms
Many thanks
Im using the PDAViet ROM and its SO stable and fast and it also looks great, its my personal choice, i cant remeber what ROM i installed before but within 10mins if annoyed me by hanging. So far (touch wood) this ROM has work WITHOUT fault.
My favorite by far is the one found HERE.
It is the AUS HTC Version with WM6. Works excellent in California, USA on ATT.
VERY rare to crash.
I've then added PocketCM's software, and the whole world is good...
"Bepe" the best
better than all the rest.
Mary 3.x is best for me
For me it's the latest Mary rom... stable quick not to much not to less within...
Adewidt ROM the Best ROM
"Adewidt" vers. ENG en NL/ Dutch -the best
better than all the rest.
(Maja)
This is all down to personal choice,
I have tried AX3L,mUn,Mary,PDAVIET,Karmba_a thing the only one I have not had ago at is Bepe and hes are all used as the baseroms,
Its all about the look and feel, and everyone of these works great,
people deciede which one to use of whats included in the rom and its look,
personally I like the bog standard roms and then I can choose what to add.
Personally I dont like the HTC Home screen but most people do, but I will admit as soon as a new one come out I am hooked and have a try.
In short they are all great, but I do prefer the thread that also include the cab files then use, makes it easier to have a go at cooking our own.
We are sploit for choice, I am pleased that there is no official WM6 for my device else maybe these people would stop thier great work...!!!
I've tried many ROMS on my 8525 and they all worked pretty well. Each had their advantages and disadvantages. I want a ROM that has a lot of memory, very stable, and works great with voice command. So if you can just drop by and recommend one. No need to flame or say something about the thread--if you don't like it, don't answer in it. I just want recommendations, thanks.
How many WM6.1 roms can we possibly create!?

I completely agree! In the past I tried several, but ultimately stuck with the Schaps roms. I felt they were the best for me- had what I waned, were fast and stable. Now in this last month with WM6.1, there are so many, and they're all apparently the latest and the greatest. It's confusing too that every cook uses their own revision numbering system also.
I'm using Pays latest rom right now. It's what it claims to be (for me), fast and stable. Will continue with that until Schaps (hopefully soon) releases his final 4.40...
It seems everyone is working very hard to get their own perfect rom happening- but wouldn't it be better if we got more collaboration going between cooks, and worked together to create fewer, better roms? It would probably mean spending less time reinventing the wheel...
Just my thoughts- take them or leave them.
no matter what ROM I go to recently, I end up going straight back to this one
I just downloaded the Voice Command file that was on here and im sure you will find it if you use the search function.
It is fast and has alot of storage memory and in my opinion is the most stable ROM i have put on my hermes.
Everyone is different tho...
I use Pandora Naked 7.0b2, the last WM6 Naked rom before mattk_r moved on to WM6.1. It's very fast, very stable and comes with nothing extraneous.

I have to agree. I tried all the 6.1's as they were coming out and within a few hours had hard resets. Kept coming back to Berds rom (linked above).
Like Schap rom so much ...... so waiting for full release of Schap's WM6.1
Thank you guys for the input. I'm using Faria's 6.1 ROM. GREAT rom--very stable. Just two things with it though: there's a memory leak somewhere and voice command doesn't work well at all. So i'll see what ROM to flash. I also wanted a lite rom, but it never came out. Might try schap's 6.1 rom when it comes out.
Have you tried Matt's Pandora Naked Roms? They are clean/stable. I've been using his PN7.2 for awhile with VC & no issues. I haven't tried his 9.1 yet (wm6.1). I'm waiting for all the bugs to get worked out.
Chris
No flame, just a lot of opinion... Regardless of what anyone says, if you are looking for stability, speed, memory, etc... then you may want to stay with a WM6.0 rom... Although I have run and am currently running a WM6.1 variant, I would suggest to anyone that either doesn't have the time to flash repeatedly or isn't afflicted with RFWS to stay away from the 6.1 Roms for now...
How much time is actually spent on a rom to consider it stable...? What are the measurements that are taken to consider a rom fast and speedy...? I am not taking anything away from the cooks and wish I had the grey matter to cook roms myself, BUT unless a rom is tested over a period of time (not two weeks) and repeatedly subjected to beta testing how can one say it is stable... We constantly have roms that are released and then we become the Beta Testers (not complaining mind you, its what I live for)... But we do need to remember that this is primarily a development site and as such there will always be releases that some of us consider to be substandard or less than average... There are several factors that determine stability and how often one has to perform soft/hard resets is one of those factors...
Well, let me get off of the soapbox, I personally liked the Black Series of Roms that are no longer under development... And since they are not supported by the cook any longer (for personal reasons), I would recommend Schaps 4.x series of roms... not the WM6.1 variants, but the WM6.0 variants...
Hope this helps...

I think Schaps v4.01 is very stable. It can use MS VC very effectively plus it is not hifi version compared to the current ROMs. Just the basic necessary things which are required for a good ROM. I have used both his lite and full version. You can try it out.
The ROM thread is situated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343942.
I have tried many kinds of different softwares also on this ROM which works pretty well and as desired. You can try it out.
Great to know. I've tried schaps rom actually and liked it but for some reason that i can't remember, i went to faria's. I think i might go back to this one now. Are there any highly anticipated roms coming up like dutty's 6.1 for the kaiser when everybody was talking about it before it came out?
I tried Schaps and just like last time, it freezes up a lot on me for some reason. Things don't go very smooth on it so i might try pay's rom or some other that i find stable. Any further recommendations will be highly accepted.
I was a great fan of Schaps roms but I kept having connectivity issues (ie: bluetooth, wi-fi) so i switched over to TNT roms. Love those. But it all depends on what you're looking for. For example, TNT roms have a lot of 3rd part apps that some people might not want. I personally haven't had any luck with voice command. Not even with the at&t rom. You gotta do your research. Check thru the first few pages of a rom thread that looks appealing to you and see what the immediate problems are and post your concerns/questions. Members here will be more than happy to help you. After all, that's what development is...isn't it?
Guys, I have gone done the same path as so many of you - trying each ROM as it came out. Before 6.1, I was stuck on TNT SE after being a major fan of Schaps for a long while. Now with 6.1, I have found CRC's to be the best. I dont use VC so cant comment.. Randomize is good, but no BT Explorer... have been operating with CRC for a few weeks now. Very rarely have to reset - only if I overload the thing and it locks up at 99% memory utilisation. Try it for yourself... The only comment I have beyond that is related to radio ROM. I have found that 6.1 seems to be more sensitive to which Radio Rom you are using. I have gone back to 1.43 and found it to be superior to 1.54! Be warned though, I have read in some of the other threads that an older radio ROM can cause the phone to freeze up, although I haven't experianced that at all.
RanDomIze Final Storm v2.10
I have tried almost every 6.1 ROM, this on definatly is the best one I have found.
Alright i have tried about every rom on this site now i have had alot of good runs with some but some of them i have bad runs with some now i am going to ask some people...which rom is the best one for Texting and MMS...i would also like it to be fast and stable does anyone know of a rom like it lol
Thanks!
P.S - Some roms would restart on there own I HATE THAT!
I've use this one since it's arrival, and it's fast and reliable.

I find this one incredibly stable, just as long as you don't stupidly add the x-button program on top of what's already there. It'll create a conflict in the software and force a reset.
I don't text, so I'd advise reading through to gauge what other people think.

What RADIO version are you using ?
CRCs ROM
I too have tried every ROM on this board I could find. The one liked the best was CRC's r9.2. It seemed to load the fastest, from the get go. I noticed right away in the screen alignment. Here is the link.

For texting the WM6.1 is a must, with threaded TXT, it's amazing. Like you I am running the AT&T 8525. I had problems with my internet connection, then I updated my radio, here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/73390245/HERM_Radio_Only_1.54.30.10_CustomRUU.zip.html
After that, no problems.
I liked this one the best because it had everything I wanted, Task Manager, Office Mobile, Flashlite, and the auto-network config worked better than others I tried.
It will be this ROM for me, or the Offical ROM from AT&T. I CANNOT wait for his 10.4 release.
Agree CRC's are the go

I agree with this. IMHO CRC's Stable roms have all the features that are required. I have played with many but always come back to his stable versions when I want to use my hermes for work.
Stable and fast
Hi
I have tried most of the roms released here, and just 2 months ago came across DVH roms. This Vietnamese guy is really finding speed and reliability in my Hermes. It is the only roms that didn't mess up no matter what I install. All the others fail sooner or later or they are too slow compared to the roms of this guy

If you are on your 6th one in a month then how do you know they are stable? You dont seem to use them long enough to find out.
Most of the 6.1 roms out there are stable, however you need to follow the rules and flash a carrier rom before flashing. - some require a good radio rom etc.
i saw you posted in binkys 3.9 thread.. well im using that rom and have been using it pre-release and its fine.. no problems what so ever.. so theres something wrong with the way your running your roms.
So far I found Pay's last one to work the best for me. I have kept it longer then any ROM including the stock one so far. I will probably try one of the 6.1 roms again now that they are getting figured out more, but that will be after I come back from Greece.
All I do is text, MMS, make phone calls, and check the weather or check my email from time to time and the best IMHO is the MRH ROMs followed closely by the Binkey11's ROM. The MRH one is my favorite because it has most the features and apps but Binky's is really good for being light and fast. I am bouncing back and forth between them and I like them the most right now.
I am also a HUGE fan of Schaps ROMs so be sure to look for that one here in the next little bit. I would venture to guess it will probably be the benchmark all other WM6.1 ROMs are measured by.

If u flash often, then u know u'r device's feel, behavior, apps, etc. So, it doesn't take that long to evaluate if u'r own device is stable, buggy, quick, slow, etc.
I find most of these cooks roms (from hard work & revised versions) very stable...
This is how to go about?

i believe it has something to do with the storage, and the carrier rom returns the device to the original settings.
CRC's ROM's are the best in my opinion & I think I've tried most of the others.
Been running CRC 10.4 since release with no issues.
I find it's only add-ons or bad CABs that may make them unstable.
Schap's WM6 4.31 WWE Lite
Schap's WM6 4.31 WWE Lite or Berd's 4.31 SS (=Schap's WM6 4.31 WWE Lite with 3.62 SuperStorage).
Have been running this ROM for months now, zero issues and very very fast.
Guys
Posted this a couple of times over the last month with no responses, but I will not be flashing a new ROM to my device for a number of reasons. However all I see now is developments for "new" Roms which aren't really Touch HD roms at all. (Rhodium/Diamond 2 ports etc..)
I'm no developer and rely on the good grace of some of the talented folks on here to get some tips and tweaks for my phone....my Artemis was no different.
Is there any chance that any of the newly developed apps, TF3D tweaks et al can be used on the "old" or as I prefer to call it Stock manila (TF3D).
Here my plea!
Thanks & kutgw
**bump bump **
I would like to see this also.
Me too, as all this Manilla V3, Duppys, Dannys, Randys ROMS's comfuse me !
Hello friends..I think as soon not flash our machines, we will not be anything
The state has changed. In the beginning there was not new programs to new manila and now there is not for old manila..
Renewed or die!
I too would like to see more for stock rom. looked at flashing out a new rom but instructions are all written as if you bet already know about roms! they are not true step by step instructions and there is too much at risk. before anyone starts slatinG me I have been had a dislike new HTC device every year since the e100 so do know a little about them.
I didn't know how to flash a ROM before I did a little reading and educated myself. It's not a black art and is not difficult. There is a wealth of information about flashing ROMs easily and painlessly here in these hallowed pages.
With the release of HSPL 1.54, it's now just as easy to flash one of the newer HD ROMs too. The more recent ROMs are stable and fast and have loads of worthwhile features over the stock items.

That might well be true but there are various reasons why one would not wish to flash a non-stock ROM to the deivce. It could be for business use, it could unvalidate the warranty...and many more.
For me personally, I was willing to brick my Artemis but I'm not willing to even worry about bricking my Blackstone due to the cost of the product.
I just wish there was more development for stock is all.
Oh come on, flashing is half the fun of the HD .
I tend to disagree with this thread. 99% of all newly developed apps work (sometimes even better) on stock ROMS. They are programmed for WM5, 6, 6.1 etc. and not specificly for topaz, manilla or whatever, which is basicly still a Today plugin.
Themes and manila tweaks are indeed a different story, but the OP writes about apps aswell, and they are just a small portion of what is currently out there for out HD.

You are indeed right in that there are a number of apps that work with 6.x devices regardless of the rom. However my post also serves as a warning that as more and more areas of non-stock roms are being explored, more asnd more apps are surfacing that are developed purely for WM6.5 let alone WM6.1 cooked ROMS - this is my continuing worry. Whilst it's good to be on the cutting edge...there is little need for many people to be on the cutting edge...and if the current dev trend continues...we'll be left in the cold.
This is a "Themes, Applications and Software" Blackstone section. Why there isnĀ“t a "Development and Hacking" Blackstone section? In other words, Stock roms software section and Cooked roms software section...
Thats a Good Idea
any benifts to 6.5 on jan 20 ...campared to 6.1
heh?
heh? can you give more details about your question?
He's talking about the WinMo 6.5 upgrade for T-Mobile that is scheduled for official release on 1/20. It's the same leaked one that has been floating around for the last week or so.
To answer the question, I was running it for about 4-5 days. It's a solid ROM, but it's nothing to brag about. It's actually a little slower than most cooked ROMs offered in this forum. If you haven't done HardSPL and tried a cooked ROM, I would suggest doing so. You can always re-SPL/lock your phone if you need to return it for warranty purposes, and now that there is an official T-Mobile ROM you can just re-SPL/lock and then flash the 6.5 T-Mobile ROM to send it back.
T-mobile already official released WM 6.5 two days ago, (it is the same one leaked few weeks ago), see here http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1611377

It's the official version, I'm sure, but it's not officially released until it shows up here: Windows Mobile Upgrade. The fact that the link is hidden -- i.e., it's not published on T-Mobile's website nor on HTC's website -- means that they haven't released it.
I don't think it's crappy. Sure, that's a matter of opinion...but I've been running custom roms for months that are well beyond T-Mo's WM6.5, and I have to say it's not bad.
I like the new Tmo rom out now but in time will look at some other roms. Just want to make sure that the official go gets my official go lol. I can tell some effort was put into it so its not bad at all.
Looks to be legit, I stand corrected.

Keep flashing...keep reading...it all depends on what your taste is like, and what you use your phone for!
i hate hearing keep flashing and reading..... Lol read any thread on any custom rom and its nothing but issues..... Im not into taste, I want stability, if ya cant suggest that, please dont suggest the obvious which ive already done, just wondering if anyone could steer in the right bugless rom direction....... But ill do what I always do, read and get discouraged from all the complaints........ thanks
I've been running the leaked rom for about 1 week now and so far it's a little slower than the stock 6.1 rom. Probably because it consumes more resources. My memory is always around 60% when it used to be 50% on the old rom.
The bugs i've found were:
I'm getting will not wake from standby about 1-3 times a day.
Music will not play after a soft reboot or after connected to the PC in Mass Storage Mode. It seems the media is scanning in the background but there's no message saying so. It would take about 20 mins before a file can be played for 6gigs of music.
Looking to install the new Rom, it's official now.
I've been using Timor for the past month or so and I've loved it. Very fast and Very stable. I've only had a couple problems where it freezes in the transition from texting to the home screen. Other than that it's my fav so far.

The cooked ROMs off of this site have worked out better for me than the stock ones. If I find something that doesn't work I can complain about it and the chef get around to fixing the problem. Try getting T-Mobile to fix something and then post it in a decent amount of time.
In my view, cooked ROMS are way way ahead of stock roms, be they wm6.1 or wm6.5.
The stock built ROMS are too "flat", less imaginative and too much of light weights for devices with unlimited potential like my tp2.
I just gotta say that temperbad does have a point. As someone who likes to hear technical issues as well rather than personal thoughts, it can be a bit frustrating to be trying to get some real bugs, issues with a ROM and have to wade throught comments about colors of screens, and how nice the buttons look. I wanna know a) what goes wrong, b) how does it happen, c) is there a fix. Whether the start menu seems shinier than others is irrelevant to me. Perhaps others feel the same?
well i flashed the 6.5 ...its ok ,i like it ...but nothing extra special about it ...the 6.1 was almost the same...all they did was add a few extra features and colors...with my original 6.1 i could get the same cabs of this site, but it is stable...my next move would be flashing a cooked rom ...but i dont now which one till i read the bourd
Flash It!
I flashed it about a week ago and I really, really like it. The RAM usage IS slightly higher, but I would think that's to be expected. But IMO, the new ROM is faster than the old stock 6.1 ROM I was using. Very stable and no freezes and the like, and that is after adding a couple thousand contacts, syncing a gazillion text messages, and adding a boatload of programs. Plus WM 6.5 is negligibly better aesthetically than 6.1....but better nonetheless.
The plan was to try the stock ROM along with a couple other custom ROMs on the same day...but I've been really satisfied with the stock ROM. Which the exception of Sense 2.5, I personally don't know what I'm missing with the custom ROMs...but I'd love it if someone would tell me specifically what that is.
On the same note, as a new member to this site, I love the forum format for FAQ's and such, but I really wish the site was easier to filter through. For instance, I considered flashing a "Energy" ROM. After deciphering the thread topics and finding his kitchen, then seeing that that there were about a million posts in the thread, I just got lazy and stuck with the stock ROM What if each cook had a "store" that he or she controlled with multiple threads in his store for each ROM and iteration of them...? Though I'm new to this community, I don't believe you would sacrifice the essence of the site with more usability. I guess that would take some web developers and additional resources so it's probably wishful thinking. But since they're talking about bringing in non-HTC phones I don't think it should be out of the question.
I also didn't realize initially that a lot of the themes, task bars, ROM's, software, and etc that are compatible with the TP2 are actually in other phone forums that run WM 6.1+ and Sense UI. Then of course, there's the generic applications and themes forums. It can be a bit much at times if you're anal like me and you want a certain clock and a specific taskbar. I don't mind searching at all, but try a search for "transparent clock" or "htc taskbar" only if you're brave...
ANYHOO *back on the trail* I like the new TMO 6.5 ROM. I don't have any benchmark tests or anything, but it "feels" faster to me. And far as I can tell, some of the cooked ROMs are stock ROMs with built in themes, minus bloatware, added tweaks, and built in software. I do all that stuff myself anyways
Try b16b's roms, 6.5.3 leo is awesome least buggiest one for me, and I've tried them all (even the legendary energy roms). You just need to install leo 2g dialer I think because the dialer will be missing, oh and it uses x2 task mgr (no task mgr in others 6.5.1 roms) and Ms stock msg. You'll be missing alot of things but you can always add it, I did.
no thanks he needs to finish the rom ...so we dont have to add cab files
