Hi guys, just thought I'd see if there is any interest in a clean rom build of the latest version. Looks like I'll be getting my 8525 back so I'll be able to play again. Probably on par with my usual - as fast as I can get it without any fluff.
If there is, please let me know if there are any preferred build numbers and if big storage is still preferred over having the extended rom accessable.
I'll be surfing to try and get caught up on changes and digging through the archives for stuff, but if you have any special requests, please let me know.
hi matt,
good to see you back.
i had to switch to dvha79_ddt's 20226 build. but as i am a true fan of your clean rom, i will be definitely switching back to your rom.
preference:
- super-storage
- build number is not so important. i prefer stability and performance over build numbers.
- please keep in mind to include the "in call bugfix".
- could you also please provide a kaiser-style 2G dialer, built-in or as a cab. it does not matter. just in case that your other kaiserstyle dialer would not work as with your other naked roms.
looking forward to your new rom
Hi matt - I was always a fan of your clean roms mate and would certainly like to see you get back into creating.
Because of all the other with 6.1 roms I've not been regularly updating for some time, settling on a CRC rom. For that reason I can't recommend anythying with build numbers or drivers, etc. but I actually do use the extended ROMs on my BA, Hermes and Universal and so Big Storage roms ain't my personal pref tbh. Having oems in Windows instead of cabs in ext rom negates any BS benefits for me. (On your BS roms I just made a 3.5mb mega-cab of about 13 or 14 megs or so of stuff in and just left in Windows instead of using oems.
I actually used my own Pandora 6.0 mix for ages, going back to it after every 6.1 install.

really liked you PN9b1 , hope to see your new work

I've been looking for the leanest and cleanest myself, so I'm in.
hmm
20270 builds seem buggy some programs won't run on them, one can't select multiple messages through the touch screen etc etc. I find CRC's 19588 is good, and stable. 19900 was good too, ... so not entirely sure I just want basic programs like Yahoo! Go to run on any of the builds after 19588 It is a small thing but it's important for me
WB matt!! Sure would love to play with your kitchen again! been missing that for a while now!

Matt can we PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEE have one of your famous clean ROM's? This is what I have been searching for so I can run my programs on an 8MB PP for some speed and stability.
hi there mattk_r
simple request, please please please make a stupendously stable and fast rom using ANY of the wm6.1 builds
ultimately, 'which' build wouldnt matter if you made the final one really stable and fast as the feature sets are pretty much the same, you dont always have to have the absolute latest build!
and of course if you could offer a bigstorage and a nonbigstorage option and of course make them UC compatible
looking forward to this, your name rings a bell though, were you over on the wizard forums too?

Hi Matt!
like in the past...a lean, mean, & clean wm6.1 with a tilt build.
Great to see you back Matt. I had used all your versions up to 9 til you left us. I have since been using PDACorners ROM's, now V.17 and they have been the best since you left. V.17 is using build 20270 and it is the cleanest and most stable ROM right now for me. Can't wait to see you work your "Clean" magic.
Happy to do so.
Is there a good "virgin" ROM dump around? Without the manifest files (dsm) files, PKGTOOL won't build the packages properly from a compiled NB image.
Not trying to be lazy, but the two compiled ones I've tried with 20270 are this way.

Well 20270 doesn't allow selecting multiple messages to be deleted through the screen, must be some bug in the tmail.exe somewhere, too lazy to look, and not smart enough to fix it. 19588 seems OK so far. Doesn't corrupt my yahoo! go cab upon installation and allows me to select multiple msgs off the screen to 'delete' or 'mark as read' my 2c

Hi there
The fastest rom so far with no issues that I could find is the 19214 rom. I got the PDAVIET one. Compare it to any other build out there and it rocks! Cheers.
Sounds good to me!

Extra vote here for the same request but I'm not sure if it can be done because I remember somewhere in the forum, someone mentioned that the PV roms cannot be dumped. Would be nice to have one that is stable and only the OS (Super Clean) so it will be fully customizable by the user.

They are all great and this guys are doing a heck of a good job,so start flashing and get your own answer. All these roms have amazing features so like I said flash and enjoy it.
Read about Hard SSPL and SSPL before you do it and make sure you do it well, just to avoid (bad) surprises.

Wait for an official ROM. If you can't take the time to try different ROMs and start a new thread, this is probably not the place for you.
The spirit of this forum to look through the contributions that everyone has made to the development of ROMS, try to contribute in any way you can - and help those in need.
Please don't take me the wrong way, but to reach the nirvana you describe, lots of people have to try out cooked ROMS - and feedback on different bugs. Only then do we get our cookers cooking great ROMS ( I dare say the official development teams check in here, too.)
You should be able to decide based on different comments in different ROM threads (currently 2730 posts in ROM thread for mUn, LVSW, AX3L and ausdim modified version of "official" ROM) which one suits YOUR NEEDS the best. As you will see, showing an outright preference does not encourage ROM cookers and is not really polite.
It may be that you were bewildered stumbling across xda-developers - if so - ask for help - but don't expect a free lunch - try and contribute to the forum, too.
Don't forget to donate to the ROM chef once you've found your favourite - and happy flashing if you find it.
I have tried a multitude of ROMs over the past few weeks and was just trying to guage what others have thought of them. I have tried LSVW and AX3L more recently but was having some issues with SPB Mobile Shell on AX3L. I am currently trying ausdim's ROM and will see what its like. Will post back.
The last one called "official" is best for me.
Wifi working (wpa, wpa2)
BT with A2DP working.
VOIP working ( i need this feature badly). You can hear in speaker only but working all the time and very good. On any other roms i tried only static noise, echo and sound drop. Even on official WM5 rom.
No more power drain after data disconnect. Again important feature.
GPS working.
The only thing in this rom is that you need some patched to have video call, menu sounds and other tweaks. But it's best so far.
VM
Still using mUn's 2.00.S.E.
Absolutely love it!
So far so good with audism's 'official' ROM with patches. Tomtom working, SPB seem OK as well. Will use over the next few days and post back. I even like the default colour scheme
very happy with ausdim's 'official' rom. Nice and stable and none of the weird stuff i was getting with the previous ones.
The most important thing I learnt from the last few frenzied months of flashing on my hermes and trinity is that its not the rom itself but what you do with them that counts.
I now soft reset after re-installing each of my major apps after a new rom flash and it really pays off.
Particularly with the lsvw trinity rom where I was having some major issues where it was defaulting to landscape mode after soft reset when I installed a combination of apps too close together. I'm not completely sure which the offending apps were but spb shell, aebutton, and spb full screen keyboard seemed to be the ones to tip the balance.
Anyway, I generally try and find the cleanest rom and build it myself as we all have our particular favourite apps and I dont like doubling up on programs.
Actually, ausdim's 'official' is the closest I've come to my ideal rom.
I have tried them all over recent weeks. I prefer AX3L rom and his ext rom. That is my personal opinion
Have to say Bepe's is the most stable rom for me with the set of applications that I am using, great respect to all, but Bepe's had to be flashed to my device after using any ROM, waiting for more great efforts and the testing will continue.
Cheers
Private69, if you want something real close to the official.
Experienced some bugs with audism, so flashed to private69 with my own tweaks and cabs. Works like a breeze

Tried all roms I could get hand on if they were english and of course bepes German as it is the only german out of the box but now I'm using AX3L's rom with the extrom. Its out of the box nice, fast, has a lot of free space and all my apps run smooth.
But in his rom the Battery leak is not yet fixed but there iss light HTC Asia is making a WM6 right now so the days are counted
For the moment PDAVIET its the best Rom.
Greats Remo
The Best?
The best is relative to what you are looking for, your style and taste. Personally I want stability and so far Private69's has been perfect in that area.
so far I have found AX3L's Rom very good and stable.
I've tried many ROMS on my 8525 and they all worked pretty well. Each had their advantages and disadvantages. I want a ROM that has a lot of memory, very stable, and works great with voice command. So if you can just drop by and recommend one. No need to flame or say something about the thread--if you don't like it, don't answer in it. I just want recommendations, thanks.
How many WM6.1 roms can we possibly create!?

I completely agree! In the past I tried several, but ultimately stuck with the Schaps roms. I felt they were the best for me- had what I waned, were fast and stable. Now in this last month with WM6.1, there are so many, and they're all apparently the latest and the greatest. It's confusing too that every cook uses their own revision numbering system also.
I'm using Pays latest rom right now. It's what it claims to be (for me), fast and stable. Will continue with that until Schaps (hopefully soon) releases his final 4.40...
It seems everyone is working very hard to get their own perfect rom happening- but wouldn't it be better if we got more collaboration going between cooks, and worked together to create fewer, better roms? It would probably mean spending less time reinventing the wheel...
Just my thoughts- take them or leave them.
no matter what ROM I go to recently, I end up going straight back to this one
I just downloaded the Voice Command file that was on here and im sure you will find it if you use the search function.
It is fast and has alot of storage memory and in my opinion is the most stable ROM i have put on my hermes.
Everyone is different tho...
I use Pandora Naked 7.0b2, the last WM6 Naked rom before mattk_r moved on to WM6.1. It's very fast, very stable and comes with nothing extraneous.

I have to agree. I tried all the 6.1's as they were coming out and within a few hours had hard resets. Kept coming back to Berds rom (linked above).
Like Schap rom so much ...... so waiting for full release of Schap's WM6.1
Thank you guys for the input. I'm using Faria's 6.1 ROM. GREAT rom--very stable. Just two things with it though: there's a memory leak somewhere and voice command doesn't work well at all. So i'll see what ROM to flash. I also wanted a lite rom, but it never came out. Might try schap's 6.1 rom when it comes out.
Have you tried Matt's Pandora Naked Roms? They are clean/stable. I've been using his PN7.2 for awhile with VC & no issues. I haven't tried his 9.1 yet (wm6.1). I'm waiting for all the bugs to get worked out.
Chris
No flame, just a lot of opinion... Regardless of what anyone says, if you are looking for stability, speed, memory, etc... then you may want to stay with a WM6.0 rom... Although I have run and am currently running a WM6.1 variant, I would suggest to anyone that either doesn't have the time to flash repeatedly or isn't afflicted with RFWS to stay away from the 6.1 Roms for now...
How much time is actually spent on a rom to consider it stable...? What are the measurements that are taken to consider a rom fast and speedy...? I am not taking anything away from the cooks and wish I had the grey matter to cook roms myself, BUT unless a rom is tested over a period of time (not two weeks) and repeatedly subjected to beta testing how can one say it is stable... We constantly have roms that are released and then we become the Beta Testers (not complaining mind you, its what I live for)... But we do need to remember that this is primarily a development site and as such there will always be releases that some of us consider to be substandard or less than average... There are several factors that determine stability and how often one has to perform soft/hard resets is one of those factors...
Well, let me get off of the soapbox, I personally liked the Black Series of Roms that are no longer under development... And since they are not supported by the cook any longer (for personal reasons), I would recommend Schaps 4.x series of roms... not the WM6.1 variants, but the WM6.0 variants...
Hope this helps...

I think Schaps v4.01 is very stable. It can use MS VC very effectively plus it is not hifi version compared to the current ROMs. Just the basic necessary things which are required for a good ROM. I have used both his lite and full version. You can try it out.
The ROM thread is situated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343942.
I have tried many kinds of different softwares also on this ROM which works pretty well and as desired. You can try it out.
Great to know. I've tried schaps rom actually and liked it but for some reason that i can't remember, i went to faria's. I think i might go back to this one now. Are there any highly anticipated roms coming up like dutty's 6.1 for the kaiser when everybody was talking about it before it came out?
I tried Schaps and just like last time, it freezes up a lot on me for some reason. Things don't go very smooth on it so i might try pay's rom or some other that i find stable. Any further recommendations will be highly accepted.
I was a great fan of Schaps roms but I kept having connectivity issues (ie: bluetooth, wi-fi) so i switched over to TNT roms. Love those. But it all depends on what you're looking for. For example, TNT roms have a lot of 3rd part apps that some people might not want. I personally haven't had any luck with voice command. Not even with the at&t rom. You gotta do your research. Check thru the first few pages of a rom thread that looks appealing to you and see what the immediate problems are and post your concerns/questions. Members here will be more than happy to help you. After all, that's what development is...isn't it?
Guys, I have gone done the same path as so many of you - trying each ROM as it came out. Before 6.1, I was stuck on TNT SE after being a major fan of Schaps for a long while. Now with 6.1, I have found CRC's to be the best. I dont use VC so cant comment.. Randomize is good, but no BT Explorer... have been operating with CRC for a few weeks now. Very rarely have to reset - only if I overload the thing and it locks up at 99% memory utilisation. Try it for yourself... The only comment I have beyond that is related to radio ROM. I have found that 6.1 seems to be more sensitive to which Radio Rom you are using. I have gone back to 1.43 and found it to be superior to 1.54! Be warned though, I have read in some of the other threads that an older radio ROM can cause the phone to freeze up, although I haven't experianced that at all.
RanDomIze Final Storm v2.10
I have tried almost every 6.1 ROM, this on definatly is the best one I have found.
Just a quick poll for my own curiosity if nothing else, which WM 6.1 ROM are you using?
If not one of the above, please add a post explaining which.
Also, are there are any newer benchmarks available than those shown here?
You forgot "Binky11's ROM". Best I have used so far.
We seem to be getting a few 'others', but no indication which they are?
I'm currently using Faria's/Dr. Puttingham's ROM but it seems a little unstable, as the OS freezes on me forcing me to pull the battery to reset. I installed it yesterday, with 2 freezes already. I think I'm going to try another one. I use an 8525 btw.
-PB
PDACorner's ROM's have been the cleanest and most stable for me. He is always using the latest builds. I am currently using V.14. build 20226.
Personally I stay away from super storage ROMS. I don't have a need for them, and maybe by sheer coincidence I've only had 1 hard-reset for all the ROMs I've tried, whereas it seems like other folks were having them more often.
I've been a fan of the pdaviet ROMs, but lately have been happy with CRCs... not sure if you need to break out his dev ROMs from stable, since one is just a progression to another.
Stable, with good available program memory.
I used schaps 4 for ages, but I find myself more and more taking a simple "no options" rom (like the PDACorner rom) and adding the dialer, interface, and applications that I really want, instead of using some rom someone else builds.
So I guess you could say I use PDACorner with LOTS of mods.
CRC's 11.2 and 12.2 is the same
Basically re numbered. I too have issues with BS ROMs, my device seems not to agree with it! I would love to try again in the near future, but I use my device for business and can not afford hard resets at all. I go with CRC's ROM for weeks with the only need to power off and on again with side button every other week.
I don't know why but I can't seem to find others that would not hard reset on me, yet.
I have been using Alex's v5.att.161.home ROM for months now, and I love it.

Its always updated with the latest build. Its clean and stable. Suits my taste.
for what it's worth see my signature...
I have tried at some point just about every 6.1 rom I can find on this forum.
The PDAcorner v16 seemed good, and VERY fast, but I didnt like the UI or the idea of how long it would take me to get it how I like it.
I LOVE CRC's roms, they are clean, stable, and fast. Using 12.2 atm! with a 8meg page pool, dam fast!
For those who speak of the "latest build" ala PDA Viet and PDA corner...is there actually a noticeable difference when u flash to a later build ROM? I love flashing a new ROM but it takes me such a long time to get it tweaked to how i like it, so i don't do it so much and then when you consider that you can try the same ROM with so many Pagepool settings, sigh....i could be spending HOURS testing ROMS and just don't have the time to play with them all and at diff settings. That is why I am VERY glad for a thread like this, cause it seems to be frowned upon to compare the ROMS on this site (or mainly to ask the oppinion for a ROM)...i don't exactly understand that, why not discuss and compare them?
what i am wondering, are the latest builds considered to always be the best? i feel like there are so many factors (including unknown ones) that attribute to a ROM being a good working ROM.
for those who have tried lots of the PDAVIET ROMS, any thoughts on which is/are the best?
I can't pick one of the ROMS on the list, but i will say this, i've been on WM6.1 for a while and am considering trying 6.0 again to get a new frame of reference to tell if one is indeed better than the other for me
Shamanix`s WM6 Ultimate v2 FINAL [SuperStorage] With add on's
I'm using CRC12.3 at the moment, but I'm not all that rapt in it.
PDV has had some good ones. Does a nice clean install and removes rubbish that other ROMs leave behind. Got rid of a bug that had plagued me for months.
PDACorner has had some good ones.
Randomize had the best package that needed the least customising by me.
I guess I'm just a ROM junkie.
Been thinking of upgrading to a Samsung i900, but then I'd miss all this fun.

You can use UC/sdconfig.txt to re-install all your favourite programs that run from internal RAM. Most of the stuff I want to add back in runs off my SD card. I just keep the cabs in a separate folder on my SD card and work through them. Only takes a few minutes.
Biggest hassle I had was with contacts and email settings.
But PIMBackup restores contacts in a flash, and Settings Savior restores all my email accounts (about 4 or 5).
Now I can re-flash and be back in operation in under 30 minutes.
Can anyone recommend a ROM similar to the "EnergyROM Series 3.0 21215 - Manila Edition" for the Rapheal?
My friend has this ROM and its amazing but i don’t think its compatible with my Diamond.
Suggestions please!
Thanks
My only suggestion is to ask NRGZ28 to cook up a Rom for the Diamond. He had thought about it at one time I am running his right now on my Raphael and it is very Fast and stable.
I would like to have this also..
I've tested this at work some day, previous version of Energy ROM, already with TF3D2 included which was pretty sweet running and probably the 3rd version is even better.
Who contacts him?
I too have had my eye on this rom in the raphael section and think it would make a gr8 diamond rom

I tried MANY, MANY ROMs for the Diamond and this one I recommend without reserve.

Well I guess it's a good thing I saw this thread eh ? I will try making a ROM for the diamond today, but I need someone to beta test to see if it boots properly, since I don't have a Diamond (!). If anybody's interested please send me a PM. I only need a couple people that have time on their hands to download, flash, test.... maybe a few times until we get it right Thanks
Testing Energy for the Diamond
I am happy to test your rom. I had the fuze and then went to the diamond i was not a fan of the keyboard. Your roms kick ass! All of the present ones for the diamond are great but they use too many resources or the light ones come with jack. So I will be happy to test. Send me a message and i will take care of this happily.

If it is WM6.5, I will be the first to test it- well hopefully. Lol, it's hard to get off 6.5 once you're on it.
Thanks NRGZ.

If anybody's interested please send me a PM. I only need a couple people that have time on their hands to download, flash, test.... maybe a few times until we get it right Thanks

I'll join in for beta testing. I've tryed many different 6.5 ROMs so far and can't say I'm happy with any one, performance wise.
Well here's a preliminary "test version" of the ROM. I'm not sure if it'll even boot, since I don't have a device to test on. However, the worst that can happen is it won't boot and then you have to flash back whatever other ROM you want. Please download, test... and get back to me somehow. PM would be best Oh... and if you don't know what do with the file, you probably shouldn't be testing this

Hi.
Can you please archive your ROM in RAR ?
Coz I can't download at my workplace, just to open.
THX.
Count me in 2 lol
I am downloading and i will let you know asap!!!
Quick update: this is safe to flash - it boots fine. Had it on for 2 minutes, I can't say much more at the moment.
i will test it also thanks
I've been testing this rom for the last half hour and have to say, quite impressive for a test rom.
A few problems though. There seems to be a lot less storage memory available and a lot less ram than any other rom.
I'm also really missing a task manager, and there's a few touch pro apps we dont need. There also only seems to be one keyboard to choose from.
On the plus side, activesync, wifi, notifications, camera and all the apps work flawlessly.I've added titanium weather without a hitch.
So thanks for all your hard work and hope you continue to work on this rom.
First let me do a disclamer: if i don't mention it - it either works or i didn't test it yet. I'd like to concentrate on things that don't work. I was too impatient to do customary hard reset after initial flash so ....
Impressions: it's true, if you never tryed NRGZ28's ROM you don't know what "fast" means. This ROM is blazing!!!
- during initial setup and just after screen alingment, iwas expecting to set time zone and time - never showed up
- World card mobile does not work; it would not even start
- Some shortcuts placments was "questionable": Advanced Network Settings appear under System control applet; others were likely just me not being familliar with NRGZ28's ROMS
- Personal preferance: I prefer MSVC over CVSD
- Only default WM keyboard works; would like to see TD2 or D2 SIP here
More after hard reset...
Hi All!!!
This is the very first time I will publish a rom. I started cooking not too long ago, but I figured this one has been stable enough to release it. I will post a list of what is included and maybe some screenshots, but so far this build is very stable and relatively quick...
Some acknowledgements
*bepe
*joojoobee666
*greatguy320
*Da_G
*ace10134
And many more that I cannot recall right now...
Please report back. I will try to post updates to this one if time allows, but I want to know what you all think about this
Remember that the device needs to be unlocked to flash this. I will not be responsible for any damage to your device. There is always a risk associated with flashing, so beware. If you need to know how to do this, please follow this guide on how to do it.
Enjoy...

sys version
Just wondering, everybody else 6.5.x are 2300 to 2800, but why is this 2100?
Details!
Can we see a screenshot and a feature list (Manilla vs Titanium, packages included etc)?

23XXX and 28XXX are the "fancy" latest builds from M$ (Start Menu on the bottom). The 21XXX series has proven to be less cutting edge but far more stable (and easier on battery too). I tried to cook and use a rom with 28011 but it seems a bit slower. I will release 28014 if time permits.

I will put it up tomorrow. Sorry about the delay...
I don't know vin has a pretty stable 23506 rom out. It is pretty fast and stable.

What is your point? NFSFan also has a stable and fast rom. If you want to flash it and try it out, that is why I put it up (in fact, that is why most Chefs put their roms up, so that people can use/test/give feedback regarding their roms). I am not forcing you to flash it, I simply put it up as a way of giving back to this community that has given me so much over the last few years. If you have a better, faster, more stable rom, by all means stick to it.
BTW, I am only trying to provide people with the latest builds for a device that hasn't got many cooks at this time. Build 23506 is relatively old already. If you want a stable really good rom, go with NFSFAN's. I am testing mine and have uploaded it so that people could give me some feedback and to see if I can make it better.
Bugs so far
I know I have not yet released a version log or anything like that, but based on the bugs that I have found so far, I will re-upload a new version of the rom, so if you were holding on the flashing, just hold a little more...
Bugs:
*Dialer comes up by itself after clicking "OK" or trying to close a window.
*No BT icon in the top bar.
*No message balloons.
*Weird Graphical Glitch on the Battery Meter Window (the one accessed by clicking on the battery icon on the top bar)
I have started cooking 28014, so don't get this one...
I wasn't bashing you at all, and I'm sorry you took offense too it. I was just remarkable about you saying that the 21xx was more stable. I think that there are roms that are just as stable that are 23xx or 28xx. I enjoy flashing and trying different roms. I will probably try your rom out too, if I can figure out how to install manilla on a rom that doesn't have it installed.

I completely misread your post. Sorry about it. I have released 28014 and might cook one with Manila if time allows.
Any screenshots?

This rom is no longer supported. Please check out the one in my signature. I might release another 21885, but not now...
