Hi
How about installing a linux based mobile os on to a Windows mobile (XDA Stealth).
OpenMoko is designed to run on ARM processors and so is windows mobile, so I think technically it is possible to do so.
I am probably going to work around that. Just wanted to know if anyone had already done that.
About openmoko http://wiki.openmoko.org
Thanks

It is possible
Just found out on handhelds.org that it is possible to install linux on HP IPAQ.

hi
is there any way one can install lets say win95 or 98 on our 520MHz xda2i??
just wanting to know.. (i know the phone part of ppc will be gone)
I dont think so, but you can run windows 3.11
No way; the PPCs use XScale CPUs which are not x86-compatible.
Are you suggesting win 3.1 could run on xda under dos emulation?
yes actually you can. but not without some know how.
you need a copy of bochs (pronounced 'box') compiled for the pocketpc (from here: http://mamaich.kasone.com/ppc/bochs-2.1.1.rar)
you also need Nyditot Virtual Display (http://www.nyditot.com/)
the best place for you to get started is this thread - http://www.pocketgamer.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3660
read it ALL
If i can remember, about a month ago, i saw a qtek with win 95 on it !! I read also how he did it but i can't remember..
Hmm revieuws sounds great, cant wait to try running this rom...
Curious??? Check out these sites....

They've mixed everything up...
Yes, Windows CE 6.0 is out. Hovewer Windows CE is not Windows Mobile.
WM Screenshots that recently float all over the Web is the screenshots of Windows Mobile "Crossbow". Crossbow is more of Windows Mobile 5 Second Edition, since it uses all WM5 internal architecture.
Windows Mobile that will use CE 6.0 "Yamazaki" kernel (and therefore will be numbered Windows Mobile 6.0) is codenamed Windows Mobile "Photon", and its still in the beginner works, long way to go, at least, before Crossbow goes out.
BTW did somebody promise even Crossbow firmware upgrade for Universal?

Some people have seen Universal running Crossbow.
Currently nothing can be promised as they are under NDA.
Can P3300 run Linux? I've just know the HTC universal can run the Linux system in stead of the windows mobile system. Does anybody know about this? I'm using the wm6, but the destop is not cool. I wanna have a change and try something new.

Hey there. I was wondering if any of you were into flashing... One thing I wanted to ask was, is there any way of flashing ROMs onto our devices by virtue of using VMware Fusion?
I am a mac user and I always use my virtual machine to do all my flashing and have never had a problem. I am currently using VMware on my macbook
I have a windows xp pro sp3
and a vista partition but all flashing is done under xp.
I have flashed a treo 750
Kaiser
i780
I tried recently to flash a new ROM onto my TyTN from VMware, but it tells me that I need to get a newer version of upgrader, or something like that.

It's 100x easier (and faster) to flash via your microSD card, if your phone has the ability.
I gave up on flashing via VMware/Parallels after I pseudobricked my phone a few times (thankfully I was HardSPL'd, so it was easy to recover).
I suggest you to do that operation by using a phisical Windows OS. I do that by using Parallels Desktop for Mac but it woesn't work (e.g.) perfectly using the Nokia Software Update.
No issues at all with PDA (JasJar and TyTn2).
So there's Parallels... anyone have experience with doing this on Fusion?

hi..I've a G4 and a new macBookPro and to flash roms into my i780 I've tried to use parallels (on Intel's macBookPro) with 2 positive results in 10 times..firewall and other programs in conflict(..I'm using XpPro sp3 and MacOSX10.5)....the best way is BOOT CAMP for me : more stablility than virtual machine!!
..good night..

As far as I know most GPS devices are based on Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 Core it's like a small Windows with Start Menu, Desktop and so on, but this feature is locked down only to Navigation Software and Simple file browsing.
There is no final Windows CE6, only some RC versions.
Windows Mobile is also based on Windows CE, but that's a different OS tree.
Basically there is nothing You can do with the dump.
P.S. I think You mean Acer P610
