Hi All
The Diamond is almost perferct phone. But still there is one major most annying issue: memory leak.
What do we know about it? Is it WM6.1 related issue or is it based on HTC softwate? Do we have any idea how to fix the problem? Does it exist only on Diamond or is it common problem for Windows mobiles?
Thank you for your information.

question
have you tryed a cooked rom?
Cooked Rom tested
Yes Sir,
I have tested them almost all:TLR, Elite, shipped, Diamond project... All the tweaks is checked also.
No matter which Rom, it is necessary to boot device on the daily bases. Without booting operating sytem get sticky.

in that case, have you tried the following:
1) disable tf3d
2) disable ezisip
then monitor your memory usage. it should be alot better.
lastly, do not over increase your file cache and graphic cache. i believe these tweaks will reduce your free memory.
How to stop the memory leak?
stop using your device

I am using Panosha Light 5 and I have to say that it has the best memory management I tried so far, before this my memory went to around 30 in a few hours no matter what I did and with no apps running ,now I have 3 programs running and ActiveSync and the memory is 43,the last soft reset I did was ..havnt done any yet I upgraded to this rom Saturday morning.

After trying six or seven WM6.1-based ROMS from three different cookers (19199 and 19209), I'm starting to wonder if there's not something 'seriously' wrong with the WM6.1 base image.
I begins to strike me as some sort of duration-based memory degradation. My experience has been that runtime lasts between 2 and 48 hours before a hard reset is necessary. In my case, I pared my installs down to adding merely my password safe as the only add-on, and still it crashed.
The most interesting pre-crash was going to "Programs" and noticing the number of icon substantially reduced (...and reducing...), and the remaining icons as default program icons.
After about five days of fighting with these and trying different methods of extending runtime, I reloaded an older copy vp3G's 3.0.0 from last summer and haven't had a problem for the past 72 hours. In fact, I had no lock-ups with WM6-based, previously.
I'd be interested in other people's experiences with WM6.1-based ROMs on the Hermes...

i may be wrong, but i think recall reading that flashing back to your stock rom, then flashin to 6.1 may fix some hard reset problems....
as for me, ive used 4 or 5 6.1 roms and havent experienced a hard reset.....my latest and favorite so far is faria's and dr.p's 6.1 rom, been running a week no hard reset...
im usin an at&t branded 8525
i was having a few issues with this but ended up changing radio versions from my standard 1.16 to 1.48.
havent had an issue since doing that.
i had the crash problem also, but after I not install htc cube in any of the wm6.1, everything ok and stable.
problem is with cube in wm6.1 i think.
Faria's is the best so far, but they all have problems to varying extents. Have you tried running Oxios Close apps? That will help you claim back memory and maybe help prevent the need for a hard reset. you can get it here: http://www.oxios.com/memory/

Interesting. I did notice that on some ROM flashes that boot screen retained a previous ROM's splash. That might mean that some ROMs are not including all facets (OS, Radio...Bootloader?) of the complete image. Will give that a shot now that I'm back to a stable WM6.

Radio is 1.45 with vp3G 3.0.0. Will check again after a Faria re-flash and upgrade to 1.48 if it isn't included.

I had that thought too, but my last ROM didn't include any of the HTC apps, at all, so I think it's some conflict or something lower level. The cube 'is' a resource hog, however...

The resets are always due to hard lockups, and they can be with only Activesync running as an application. I try to keep the number of running apps at a minimum for reasons that are probably fairly obvious to all here...

Im also having the same problem .. all sorts of experiments has been done to test on why WM6.1 crash when I install them .. but 1 thing i noticed that it always hang before softreset that eventually lead to hardreset .. i thought hardware accelerations problem ... so what i do is .. every WM6.1 i changed to 8mbpp .. until now my machine ok.

Flash to stock rom then to wm 6.1... Apparently there is a problem if you flash from big storage rom to wm 6.1(not sure why this is so) but there have been a huge number of people who say this works for them, myself included.... I tried every wm6.1 rom that came out then doing something stupid eflashe stock os. No problems with wm 6.1 since. Also I believe that 19209 is somewhat more stable than versions 19199 or 19202... I'm using PDAViets 19209 rom, just changed to black edition, and have had NO trouble EVER since installing it when it first came out, no soft resets and more importantly, no hard resets... Cheers

After trying almost everything to get more than a few hours of runtime out of WM6.1, I followed the above instructions to the letter and WM6.1 has worked for 24 hours now (yes...a new record). I will update in a few days if the Hermes/Faria 6.1 combo continues to function.
One note: I was not able to use Vista to update to Hard-SPL after the Stock AT&T 6.0 ROM re-flash. Each attempt resulted in an updater error on the PC after the handheld entered bootloader mode. Did the same procedure on XP and it worked flawlessly.
Hey. Had the same problems but i solved it with flashing a AT&T Stock Rom first.
Now my Hermes with PDAVIET B&C WM6.1 Rom running like a flash
Without any freezes.

I am using my device with WM6.1 19900 build ROM for about a week. All that time the device was very stable, no lockups, no resets.
Today I upgraded my friend's device (exactly the same one) to the same ROM with the same settings and additinoal programs. On the first hour of use, he had 3 (!) hard resets that occured with no reason during a normal work.
The only change is that I changed the pagepool size of his ROM to 4Mb (mine is 6Mb). Can it possibly happen because of pp size?

No it can't be related to PP size at all.
If you had even bothered to search the forum or the Wiki you would have found the answer to your question which has been extensively covered in this forum.
Eventhough i will humour you and tell you waht to do:
1. Flash an original carrier ROM [you can find lots of them in the Wiki]
2. Hard reset
3. Install the desired ROM
4. Hard reset
5. Proceed with normal usage
If you have problems or doubts, before asking, please read the Wiki and search the forum.
Cheers.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I am pretty experienced with ROM upgrading and I did the upgrade exactly as you (and Wiki) describe!
Now I updated the pagepool back to 6Mb and reflashed the ROM.
No hard resets yet, but I am still testing. Will post the results.
It might be the problem with your ROM. Change to a different ROM and see if it fixes it!

I believe you do have a point there... Page pool can NEVER be related to hard resets...
Curiosity: From which part of India are you? PM me wiht the answer if you like
Cheers.
Ok, This is not a pagepool size. The device is still hard resetting.
How is it possible that two identical devices, the same ROM performs so differently!?
That ROM is so stable for me, I like it, but the other device just refuses it!
I will start trying other ROMs. I will try to flash the original ROM and then flash the new one again. With all the required HR in the middle.
for me hard resets did not stop until i flashed a cingular rom but i dont know if thats because i have an 8525 or the extended rom is different some how.
for example i flashed a dopod rom twice trying to fix it and only a cingular rom did the trick if your still having hard resets its worth a try

What type of hermes are both devices? Are they alike? Are they from different sub-builds? Are they HERM100, HERM200, HERM300?
Maybe the problem is related to that.

These are both IMate JasJam devices sold by the same cellular provider (Cellcom) on the same date!
Both devices had the original WM5 ROM from Cellcom.
Both devices were HR before the upgrade. On the first one (mine), I flashed about 10 ROMs including both WM6 and WM6.1, before I found the perfect one (WM6.1). On the second device, I flashed it with that ROM from the beginning.
May be flashing WM6 on the other device before WM6.1 will solve the problem.
Does anybody know why this happens? How reflashing the ROM solves the problem?
Hello everybody!
I have noticed, there are problems with ActiveSync after ROM flashing appearing.
To be specific, ActiveSync activates itself automatically, without any obvious reason. ActiveSync window is also activated whenever an USB connector is used (thus also when charging only)!
I went through the several threads already, finding two fix-tips mentioned in there. However none of them seems to work in my case:
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2798581&postcount=4757
2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2807581&postcount=4789
I have to admit, I am also surprised by the fact that I have the same problem independently on the ROM flashed (experienced with A.Z.T.O.R. V7 & SwiftBL Diamond V7.5 Full so far – that’s also the reason why I’ve decided to set this new thread).
Can somebody help me to solve this problem (which is obviously bothering more users already)?
Dou you have any explanation to this behavior?
FYI:
My initial ROM: O2 GE ROM 1.37
Actual ROM:
SPL: 1.40.OliNex
A.Z.T.O.R. V7 (previously SwiftBL Diamond V7.5 Full tested)
May the reason be some improper flash-procedure?
What is the reason of hard-reset after flash? (When it should be done?)
Many thanks for any replays in advance…
Hi !
I have the same problem.
I dont know if the problem was there in the officil ROM,
but i have Swift 7.5 ROM and it has the activesynckill,
but no result. ActiveSync starts on itself.
Hm, maybe someone find a resolution to this problem.

Hello Andrea,
thanks for the link to the Elias async killer. I'll try it ... however I would like to UNDERSTAND the thing! ;-)
I would like to know why there are SOME users having this problem, when some others never heard about it! There has to be some reason causing this kind of trouble...
I don't like using extra fix generally, I prefer finding the solution! ;-)
So, can anybody help, please?
EDIT: done.
I got an Asus P320 a couple of months ago but having been having too many problems with the piece - the HW seems to be grossly underpowered for WM6. apps open slowly, the phone crashes at least once a day, it suddenly loses the GSM service connection and i have to keep restarting the radio from the comm manager, picking up a call results in several apps opening on thier own (like the clock, calendar...)
I've tried upgrading to the latest WWE ROM (4.15) but the problems still persist. I'd now like to try WM5 on the device to see if it works. Would anyone know how I can port Wm5 to this device? or maybe even Andriod or Linux?
Or would anyone know how to make the damn thing more stable? I tried Pocket Hack master to overclock the CPU and it does seem to work most of the time, but the device still crashes once in a while, and it hasn't stopped multiple apps from opening when I pick up a call.
I hope Asus is reading this coz they've done a pretty bad job on the model by overloading it with wm6 and thier crazy custom apps.
try using hdubli's WM 6.5 ROM. I personaly am feeling a bit diffrence in the performance, the phone just started responding and working faster
P.S. I recomend using the bild from 21.04.2009, because the M2D Rom has many bugs

gsm
hi guys,
due to gsm problem on p320 , let me say, some people has similar problems, and also I .
my observations shows:
fieldtest157 shows only 2 values RSSI and RX Quality.
my experience is that most stable original versions are 415wwe and 416tha.
but still is present problem of temporary "unreachability in gsm network" for cca up to half an hour , if there is some switching between BTS stations.
Solution
Hi DO the following
I was also facing same problem.
SO i install the Latest ROM (problem persist)
I again formated the Phone Reinstall the Latest ROM.
Now it was very Fast. I install Applications of choice (one by one -- then restart Device after every installation)
Now my p320 is as fast as other wm device. applications open very fast.
Dont install Kaspersky or pirated software (most of them will slow the device)
will try to install windows mobile 6.5 (from XDA)
hoping to get official WM6.5 for p320 (when released)
Check out my WM6.5 installation guide (with pix) at http://mrinaltech.wordpress.com/2009/08/11/windows-mobile-6-5-on-your-asus-p320/

Android on Diamond
There are my experiences with Android on Diamond:
I used XDAndroid (Foryo, ver.FRX06). Installation is not difficult, they were two "catches" during installation in my case: First, I had to delete ts-calibration file to recreate display-calibration data (after first boot it was completely broken) and second, finally I had to (full)format Internal Storage (FAT32) because Android didnt see internal storage ("sdcard").
So, now I have working android. Synchronizations with google account works, wifi work, GPS works. But I cant install anything from Market - very annoying, I dont know yet how to fix this. At least I can install application directly from .apk files.
Summary:
Using Android on Diamond is pain. System is slow. If you are used to use some fast (winmo)ROM, you will be horrified. Let's imagine slowest 6.5 rom with TF3D - and android is even slowest . Sometimes, the response is so slow, that system detected "not responding" application and offers to kill it or wait (choose wait ). Diamond has limited memory, after boot you will have about 30MB free (depends on widgets used). Also, battery drain is terrible.
Despite all, android applications works. So, for testing, playing and get familiar with android, its fine. Then, when you'll assure yourself android is good, then you'll buy a true android device (Just for comparison: my wife has LG Optimus One, pretty cheap device, but android works much much much faster and smoother than on Diamond, its really different league, incomparable with Diamond). If you want to keep Diamond, for everyday use, go back to any fast WM ROM, (BSB is my favorite), install SPB Shell and Droid+ mod.
Pretty weird,on my diamond was faster than a wm6.1 + sense 2.1,maybe because I hardly ever used frx06.
But frx06 shouldn't be slow, there are a lot of users that like it's speed and stability,so maybe you were unlucky or with wrong/old files..
