How do I remove backlight "ding" - HTC Excalibur

I'm running Kavana's latest and every time my backlight shuts off the phone makes the "ding" sound.
How do I get rid of this annoyance? None of my sound settings are set to "ding" and I haven't been able to find the ding sound to delete it.

hi
this is due to the wifi power saving option.
the ding is located in windows- ding.wav
i would also be very interested in getting this to work.
cheers

solved it!
go to profiles-
edit profile by pressing menu.
then go to the bottom option which is something like swicth off all system sounds.
thanks

HTC Tytn keeps switching to vibrate mode

Hi all,
Cooked a WM6.0 ROM for my Hermes using Pandora's kitchen a while back and I've been very happy with the result. The only two issues I've found:
- Two of the icons in the OEM\Today Icons - HTC Home Icons - Original folder were wrong, that was easy enough to fix...
- Phone keeps switching over to vibrate mode
Can't seem to figure out the vibrate thing, since it does not seem to occur for any particular reason. I'll set the phone up to go for a drive (cancel forwarding, enable blue tooth, disable wifi, make sure sound is on, and then lock phone) and then leave it in the case while driving. After some time it may or may not switch to vibrate. At that point hitting the voice dial button on the headset does not give me the beep to start talking making it a little difficult to use...
So just wondering what would cause the phone to switch to vibrate mode? Any thoughts? Thanks!
That happened to me when I had my wizard. I think it was a compatability issue with HTC home, which made the device to go to Vib everytime you sync it to PC. You might have to do a search on it and see if you come up with anything!

Audible touch tones ...

Audible touch tones just stopped working.
This morning when i used dial pad i've noticed that there is only vibrating without any sound...
I checked in sound settings and there is everything as it should be.
Is there any known solution for this, except master reset...
Thanks...

Ok, so i've managed to solve this...
this has happened when i pulled out my battery without turning off the phone 1st.
So i tried everything what came to my mind, like changing sound levels etc. manually.
Then another thing came across my mind..
pressed and hold power button, turned the phone to silent, then did this same and turned the silent mode off, and it worked...
Just to mention I've never before put phone to silent, and while audible touch tones weren't working, when i press some number in my dial pad, i could hear "something" on speakerphone, something like that action was made but melody was missing.
I was trying to find solution at google but without success, but i saw that there is a lot of people having the same issue, so i recommend to try this, what i've did...
cheers...
it not working for me, but i found solution,
download "audio manager" from market, you can see that, system volume is set to min/off
i set system volume to max and uninstall app, after phone restart tones still all right!

[Q] Where did my Silent go!

Ok so I know my way around a phone or too so I think this should be obvious but please if you can help me out here. I recently purchased the HTC Surround which I am beyond happy about, fantastic phone. However this seems to be an OS question more than phone.
I haven't found a simple way to have the Silent mode on without going to settings and disabling the Vibrate function. With Vibrate turned on if you hold down the volume key until 0 it switches to vibrate and there is no way of getting to full Silent mode. Can anyone help me with this if I am just missing something obvious here.
Thank you in advance
i don't think there is a silent mode as of yet. also, when you hit volume, you don't have to bring it all the way to 0, you can merely tap the icon on the right and it will flick between ring and viberate. though the problem with doing this i've found is that when you go into a game, the game still utilises the sound which i found a bit strange.

It's a bit annoying, but you'll have to go into ringtones and sounds in the settings and turn vibrate OFF. Then, when you go down to 0 it will be silent. You'll have to change vibrate back to ON when you want it back.
is there a way to set text messages and emails to vibrate? i haven't seen this in the emulator.

if you set the phone's profile to viberate, it quiets all the OS' built in notifications and typing and that. it does not however quiet apps/games sounds. only way to do that is drop the volume itself.
what i mean is on the normal volume profile can i sent a ring tone for calls, and vibrate for texts and emails?
not at present. it's still very simple on/off stuff for most, hopefully MS really goes through each section of the OS and brings it to the level of what is expected in high end phones.
Not an answer to the ops question, but if you press the down volume button, you can then click the "ring" icon and it will cycle between ring and vibrate (I would have expected silent there too)

No haptic sound !

Hi guys! i got my new galaxy nexus yesterday! after a long time with my GREAT galaxy S i made the change.
One strange problem, when i turn on the nexus i notice that it make no sound when you press something on screen (like back key, home, but also in the settings menu etc) i was thinking that keypress tone was unticked but it was!
after 10 minutes the nexus ask for the update (great!!! ) to 4.0.2 , all gone fine but keypress sound still don't sound! also the keyboard don't make sound (set tone on in keyboard setting)
and also (and last) no sound when lock-unlock the phone...
any ideas?
thanks!
do you mean heptic feedback? when you press the keys and it makes a slight noise and vibrates or when your actually dialing numbers? If so have you checked your system volume?
Settings --> Sound --> Volume, make sure that you have your volume turned up.
Settings --> Sound --> Touch Sounds, make sure its checked.
Settings --> Sound --> Dial-pad touch tones , make sure its checked.

i try to deselect touch sound dial pad ecc and reselect again but no effect.
Touch vibrate work fine, when check, the touch vibrate, when un-check the touch don't vibrate.
so i miss : haptic feedback, unlock-lock phone sound, and keyboard sound (i also check this point in the keyboard settings)
other sound seems to work fine... what happen?
a question: where is , in system folder, the .ogg for the haptic sound? so i check if the file exist ;-)
hi, nobody has any ideas for solve my problem with sound?
a new detail:
yesterday i unlocked the nexus and make root, after the full wipe the phone reboot to the standard initial configuration page (choose the language and after set your account etc) in these pages the haptic sound work!!! but when i finished the configuration of the account, back to homescreen, no haptic sound again... it's very strange !
please helpppp ;-)
I had this happen to me after unlocking my phone also. Sounds were ticked on, but would not play (even keyboard sounds).Someone in another thread suggested it might be due to using the "Restore Apps" option when first setting up the phone.
What I ended up doing was perform a factory reset and choosing not to restore apps. As I had just unlocked, it wasn't much of a hassle.
This may or may not be the case with your phone so you might want to try this as a last resort.

thanks! interesting, and possible... now i have already restored my apps (automatic, where do i set NOT restore app ??) so by now i can wait... it's possible that soon i'll try some fresh ROM from the devolper forum and maybe this solve all problem heheh
There is no haptic sound as such, just the motor buzzing when you press the screen. If a sound was to actually be heard each time I touched the screen I'd go insane!

?? haptic sound exist not every time you touch the screen, only for keys, keyboard and settings menu... but it exist, maybe your nexus is like mine and haptic never work for you like me... go to setting-sound and check ;-)

Notifications Stuck on Silent

I have an incredibly annoying problem I can't resolve. I'm running Launcherpro and I also use Gosms, stock otherwise but obviously rooted. So anyway, my notification ringer keeps going silent with sound on, but worse is it gets stuck and I can't increase it no matter how I try without resetting. I literally can't do anything to it, the volume slider grays out. I've tried going through settings, using audio manager, and all have the ability to change the notification volume disabled. . Once I reset it it goes back to normal, but eventually and randomly goes back to silent and gets stuck. I have no clue what to do but it's obviously infuriating. I'd appreciate any help and I'm sorry my initial thread was in the wrong place. If any other info is needed please let me know. This is just an awful problem, really frustrating.
Is your notification volume linked to one of the others? Grab audio manager or similar from the play store. .. It shows linked volume controls and gives the option to un link

Figured it out... I had a Profile called "Night" selected under Profiles in the system settings. I toggled profiles off, and voila, I've got sounds again! Hope this helps!
