Selective Backup or Wifi drivers needed - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi I need a WiFi driver for an O2 XDA IIs (Asia Model - MW2003se) if anyone knows where to get drivers please let me know.
Or, is there a way to do a backup but exclude the WiFi Settings.
It just happened after I got my setup perfected (4 hours of settings configured) and right before i was going to do a backup i did a bad WiFI update, now the WiFi doesn't even turn on or have the necessary registry entries.
So I'm thinking is there a way i can do a complete backup but exclude the WiFi driver, and anyone know where the WPA-PSK workaround is?

Heh it was there all along
Heh just a follow up, i just thought i'd try that stock xBackup utility and the damn thing worked great, I had made a backup ages ago but all the apps were all installed and half the settings were done i had saved my recent settings to SD before i hard reset the thing
After waiting ages for the Restore to load I'm shown with everything back in working order again. Just not connecting to WPA-PSK with TKIP damn stupid thing thinks it already has the key and ignores what i give it.
Anyways, lesson here is BACKUP!!!

Blue angel (SX66) WiFi indicator no longer visible

I have a siemens SX66.
This morning (for some masochistic reason) I installed the O2 active software on it. Played with it for a few hours, and tried to uninstall it, but I could not. So... I hard reset and I restored from a backup.
Now all is back to normal, except the WiFi indicator that is normally at the bottom of the today screen is not there!!!!
When I hard-reset the unit, it was there. When I restored from a backup it stopped being there. (when I did the backup there were no problems). Is there anyway to get the indicator back without hard-resetting and re-installalling everything from scratch?
download stg viewer from this site and u can select the files you dont want to restore on PPC http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=2024
Did you try the Blackberry client?
Hi. Your feedback would be most appreciated... And if it worked, can you summarize the steps you went through (starting with ROM update) to get it working?
Thanks in advance!

Has anyone figured out why gprs settings & exchange password are disappearing??

Has anyone figured out why gprs settings & exchange password are disappearing everytime you do a soft reset!!!!!! I flashed to the Dopod new SEA rom from the official HTC 1.23 for Europe. Is there a trick to stop it from disappearing after soft reset or the rom is bogus??
Gilbert
PS: I am writing from the trinity so I apologize if this topic was discussed
its not happening to me!
I am not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but I also seem to have hard-spl 1.07ds and the 3.03 that came with the dopod rom installed in my bootloader. how I know? well if I try to downgrade to the official htc 1.23, I get the 1.07ds in the bootloader and it fails, the I try to reinstall the new dopod wm6 and it works. I have super cided device & I can write to my extended rom. could this be the reason my gprs username and password and my exchange password keep disappearing afTer a soft reset? I made a hard resetusing the two buttons to get it to factory specs & it is still doing it. I have no installed programs.
i don't believe 1.07 is hard-spl, and i don't think you can actually have two spl's on there at the same time. I think one is just being overwritten by the other.
thanks for the clarification. however why in God's name am I losing my connection settings and exchange password everytime I soft reset when I have no programs installed or previously installed cooked roms. I remember the Dopod ANZ version might have had something like this and maybe dopod pulled the rom and promised to put another one in few days. I could be wrong about that.
thanks,
gilbert
I'm also experiencing the same problem and I couldn't find a solution for it.
Have you done a hard-reset after flashing?

Just discovering the flashing thing, so I'm not expert, but as far as I understand 1.07ds is not a hard-spl, but one that is pushed onto the phone by the update utility. To know what "resident" bootloader is on the phone, U need to enter the bootloader mode by pressing power+camera button plus doing a soft-reset.
Furthermore, to avoid installation of another bootloader (like the 3.03), I installed an hard-spl (olipro 1.30) and I put the phone into bootloader mode manually prior to flashing. Otherwise, the udate utility pushes the SPL 1.07ds which does not prevent the installation of the new 3.03 bootloader.
If you have the 3.03 on your device and want to downgrade, have a look at http://trinityguides.info at the Dopod WM6 Guide.
As to the disappearing Exchange password, I do not experience this pb.
Bye
yes, it is happening to me also on SEA version.
to be honest I was not overly impressed with the official SEA version so went back to AX3L's great ROM.
as for why the exchange and GPRS settings get lost, the only thing I seem to see is that it is if I installed or uninstalled some app that needed a reboot. it was not one particular app but I seemed to see the problem after installing / uninstalling themes and the kaiser home plug.
have you done any of these and seen the issue?

My pop3 account was gone after my FIRST flash with WM6 and install of the Kaiser home plugin. But then I did a hard reset, flash WM6 SEA again, and again hard reset. No problems at all anymore... Thats why I stated the hard reset
after hours of playing with the my bloody machine, i seem to have pinpointed the bloody problem. it is the new windows messenger doing all this crap. I am not sure how as I did not go through the codes but when I don't set up windows messenger and merge the contacts with the device, even if i do a thousand soft reset, the connection to the gprs automatically comes on and my exchange syncs no problem. but when you set up messenger with the device, you start getting the same crap of disappearing gprs settings and exchange password!!!

What a total pain! Guess I'll stick with just the radio upgrade for now then.
I was going to suggest that if things seem funky after a ROM flash it is always worth trying a re-flash in case something just went a little awry first time around. But the fact others have found the same issue seems to clearly warn that this is not a one off misfortune.
Many thanks for letting everyone know... and good luck with straightening it out.
different experience
I had lost my Exchange passward and the Cingular GPRS setting info a couple of times, but after my back up today, I lost all the settings to the point that I couldn't even connect to Wi-Fi. I hadn't done a hard reset after my flash, so I am doing that now. I never set up Messenger, so I can't imagine how that could be the problem.
Would that be the same problem as the device password that some others were screaming in other threads about wrong device password?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317841
I would guess that there's a credential database WM uses to store usernames and passwords, just like your desktop windows OS, and it either got corrupted on the memory or failed to write back to the filesystem after resetting the device.
The result would then be lost passwords, including device passwords, gprs, exchange, mails, wifi...
I have the ANZ official ROM and see the following problems (which I reported a while ago)
1) GPRS password occasionally gets blanked.
2) WEP password lost occasionally
3) Windows Live password lost occasionally .
I can't figure out what causes it- I rarely soft reset, preferring to turn off.
The biggest PITA is that my device code changed, which means I cannot use TT traffic until I get a letter from HTC.
Hmm, i'm suffering this problem also. It is mentioned in one of the various topics of the WM6 - Roms but really doný know where anymore. Anyone knows if this is possible to tackle?
Thanx!

It's not the solution I guess.
I use Prophet, but this is only topic of it.
I can't make a new account, it sais 'Name exists'. But it isn't showing up, and can't find it in the registry ...
Any ideas were to remove the old ones?
No problems for a while
I followed some guidance after having the problems, and for a good many weeks it's been fine (maybe over a month).
I set all the passwords (web, WIFI) and BT pairing.
Then I turned the device off with the power buton (NOT soft reset).
SInce then, it has all stuck.

Dash wont connect to pc

So im trying to connect my dash so i can install windows 6.1 kavana, currently running the rose 6.5rom i believe. So when i go to hook it up to my pc nothing comes up its as if the phone was not connected at all, now i was thinking should i hard reset and then try to install, or what can i do?
ok did the hard reset that didnt do much but reset it, anyway i can get it so it shows up on my pc as connected so then i can re-flash?
Have you gone into the USB settings and unchecked the "Advanced Functionality" setting? After you've done that, you should be able to form a relationship between your pc and Windows Mobile Device Center or Activesync depending on what Windows OS you're using.
yea i did that still doesnt connect comes up as generic device asks for a driver and since i dont have one it says device not installed correctly, also noticed i couldnt sent mms messages.
nvm got it working with a little bit of searching

What was your solution? Thanks.
You probably had to disable the sdcard, if you have one I assume.
It was dumb but i had to install active sync since i forgot to install that after the format of my pc and for the MMS i had to go into the connectivity menu and set it up for tmobile, all working perfect now..only if i could get better signal though, anyway of just installing an update for the radio?

Not really. Don't know where you live but signal is 90% of the times dependent from your carrier. Unless you have a RAZR, than its your phone not picking up much.

Kindle 6.3 Broken Wi-Fi

I recently came from ICS, and having issues with wi-fi there. So I went back to stock, hoping my issues would be resolved. Awesome. They aren't!
Wi-Fi doesn't work. I have/had hashcode's latest kernel flashed. I don't know what to do. Any ideas? D:
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!
How are you wiping when you flash roms? Maybe you have messed up how your kindle connects to wireless . There has been a Mac address issue with the new kernel maybe yours never reverted when you went back to stock. Have you tried other networks? Have you done a factory restore? Do you mean pure stock not rooted?

I wipe ; Factory Reset, System, Dalvik-Cache, Cache
And basically when I go to TURN-ON Wireless, no networks show. It doesn't even fully turn it on, it gets stuck in the middle of turning on the Wi-fi.
I went back PURE stock, NO ROOT. However, it seems I may have need of getting ROOT back. :/
I'm still curious if you performed a factory restore when you returned it to stock. I suppose your case could be that something burned out the wifi adaptor of the kindle although I bet its rare but not completely unreasonable. After a new clean flash when you reroot we will see those results ?
Probably totally unrelated, but have you ever had the locate-my-kindle software installed? I got similar weird behavior after a while when using that... first wifi networks were slow to come up, then it would struggle to turn on wifi, finally it'd just give an error and crash the settings manager or whatever it's called. I had to get rid of the software. Basically it was storing every single wifi network it ever came in contact with, even for just a second, and having too many entries hosed wifi. Uninstalling it seemed to clear those extra entries and restore functionality.
I do know that restoring your account from Google to your device and letting them keep copies of your wifi passwords can also cause issues although when I was testing roms for some devs on my droidx with known wifi issues ñot allow the Google restore and backup caused similar problems.

[Q] SlimKat 4.4.4 and WiFi Reconnect issue

First, I've had this issue since Build 6.8. I was hoping a Clean Install using Philz Touch Recovery v6.48.4, which is the latest, and selected Wipe Data and select Clean to install new ROM which Formats /data, /cache, /system. I also wiped Dalvik.
Once completed I did the following:
Clean Install of Slim-d2lte-4.4.4.build.7.0-OFFICIAL-5979
I then installed
Slim_full_gapps.BETA.4.4.4.build.7.x-190
Rebooted and waited for SlimKat to boot-up. WiFi/Data both full scale. Everything Restored just fine and things are running smooth.
Then after running a few errands outside of WiFi Range, I returned home within WiFi range only to find out that WiFi had not reconnected. It tells a WiFi connection is available but will not reconnect to it. So I go into Setting and select WiFi and tried to manually reconnect. It says connecting and then goes back to Saved Connection without connecting. This same thing on other WiFi connections such as McDonald's or other open WiFi Connections.
I then do a re-boot and everything is back to normal. WiFi connects without issue and again things are fine and running smooth.
Every time I leave WiFi range and then return within WiFi range, the problem re-occurs. A Re-Boot and everything back to normal.
One thing I've always noticed when doing a Clean Install as stated above, all of my previously stored WiFi connection are still there. Same on Ringtone/Notification Tones.
With the problem I'm having, could it be something that is not being wiped/cleared out during the Clean Install process. Or wondering if it could be somehow that the WiFi Radio has gotten corrupted.
I have also tried different Kernels but again the result is the same.
Hope this is not too much of a noob question and I have searched about everything I can think of. Wondering if anyone has had this problem or have any ideas of what could cause the problem.
I really hope I can get this figured out. Thanks
If you don't have to manually reconnect and enter your password, then its not being wiped. (Or you are restoring it from a backup.) Have you tested it after the clean flash, but before restoring anything? What are you restoring and how?
It sounds like a Rom issue otherwise and you should probably ask in the rom thread.

First I don't know what I've missed wiping. When I say restoring, I'm referring to letting Google re-downloading everything from the Play Store.
I know the WiFi radio are in a different location but like you, when I do a Clean Install by formatting /data /cache /system and wiping dalvik, I wasn't expecting all the stored WiFi connections to still be there, but they are.
Its possible its being restored by Google's backup, but I don't use it myself so I'm not certain about that. Its also possible the rom may save the config file elsewhere. Again though, I don't use cm/aosp based roms so I'm not too familiar with any of their specifics.
Next time you try a clean flash, do not sign into google during setup. Instead go straight to testing wifi to see if it still remembers the connections. Do you have it set to auto connect to any open networks? If so you might want to turn that off.
Have you searched or asked in the roms thread yet? It might be a known issue or something a few others have encountered and know how to fix.

Ya I don't sign into Google at the initial start up after the flash because my WiFi is no able to connect. I will double check the auto connect feature. But I having this issue with other 4.4.4 ROMs also because I tired however on those ones I am amvle to toggle WiFi on but in advanced it has the region set to Europe and when I switch it to Canada it doesn't want to save the change
