Hi to all! I installed a new cooked great rom to my trinity a month ago and it worked fine. it is this rom
[ROM][ITA]WM 6.1 Elegance edition 2.14 (OS 5.2.19213 Build 19213.1.0.0)[ONLINE]
today I got a strange error and the phone was stuck. I unplugged the battery and when I started again it was stuck on the calibration screen. if I tap on the screen nothing happens but the backlight turns on if it was off so it still catches the taps. I connected the phone via usb to delete from the autostart menu the link to the configuration screen (welcome.exe) but the phone is not deteced by activesync so no way to browse folders on my device or use a program like SOTI to control the ppc. I want to bring it back to life as I know that my files hasn't been deleted. in fact if I press the right soft button I get a menu of a program I put in the ppc and it's not included in the elegance rom so I'm sure my files and my configuration and everything are still there.
if i get a phone call the phone rings (with the default ringtone anyway, but the name of the caller is displayed correctly, that's why I'm sure my device still has all my contacts and more)
what could I do?
is there a way to edit files from bootloader? does mtty work for this? (I have no idea how to use mtty so I might be wrong) could I make a full dump, edit the startup folder and reflash the phone with all my data?
I tried to use mortscript witht the autorun feature to read a part of the register regarding the welcome file and deleting it's link in the startup folder but the sd card driver is not loaded I think as the files are not launched, while in another phone the same script works fine.
thanks in advance to all who will have time and will to help me

as far as i know (not that much), reading files from bootloader is pretty impossible.
You can always just reflash. If the touchscreen problem persists, it's possible that the problem is hardware related.
Your computer should detect your device when in bootloader, and failing that, you should be able to SD flash (assuming you're HardSPL'd or equivalent, thats just what we have in the herald forum)
Thanks for your help
I'm quite sure the hardware is fine as all my problems started after a crash of the OS.
Anyone has an idea to get access to my ppc?

if the sdcarddriver is not loaded then the following will not work but give it a try anyways. make a text file "whatever.txt" no quotes then rename it to "welcome.not" no quotes then put it in the root of your storage card and it should skip the whole startup process. that is if it loads the sd card driver or you might want to think about flashing another rom
I already tried the "welcome.not" trick but got no results. I'm afraid that the sd card driver is not loaded then.
Thanks for the hint irus anyway!
Really there's no way to read files from bootloader or something similar?
not that i know of
but the fact that your issue was noticed during a rom flash
dont mean it's not hardware related
much like a heart attack which happens during a thunderstorm
dont need be related to the thunderstorm
Wait! The error never happened during a flash. I never said it. I had that rom on my trinity since a month and it worked like a charm. Then suddenly I got an error and the phone was stuck.
I have understood what you mean but at least I hope it's not a hardware failure!
Team,
I have a Vodafone branded TyTn II. My company has also installed a "customization" file/script that sets certain perameters and configures the company mail. Unfortunately, the customization file affects other operations. As a result, I have upgraded my Rom in the belief that the this would completely remove spuriuos company files but to no avail. After about 3 seconds following a cold re-boot this cusomization file kicks in and a whole set of new files are installed. I have found some of the offending files but they are write protected so I can't mod them.
How can i stop the "Customization" from running or how can I modify the scripts?
TIA
Soft reset before the customization starts. It only runs the first time after a hard reset.
By the way, soft reset does not work on v1520 (Asus P550). I have the same problem with my device and no solution yet. Even in this forum I've asked about stopping the installation of EXT ROM several times but nobody has provided any answers...
Thanks,
The reset worked but the problems I thought were due to the corporate config are still there. I'll post the main problem in another thread and see if anyone has any ideas.
Hello, everyone, I hope no piss anyone about this old OS, but I have no choice on my iPAQ Rx3115 'cause HP never releases an OS update for this pda, since it has decent features and mine is in perfect shape and it's a shame that a lot of programs cant be installed in this OS.
So, that's why i want to edit the ROM of this PDA, made a custom one with new programs and delete the old ones and the ones that are obsolete (like the MPG player, since tcmp and coreplayer cant play everything).
This forum is big, i was searching for hour about resources and "how to do that", I use EM2003 and when i try to open the rom file it tells me that enter a password to unlock the ROM.
So pleasse guys, help me out, I want to guive a full new life to this PDA and keep using it, and of course I will release the ROM for everyone to use it as I made stable ROMs.
Thanks and regards.
c'mon guys, help me a little, a need something to start with, a tool, program, anything?
thanks
I know this is old but I'd just like to second this, if anyone has any info on how to upgrade this device that would be great as I just sort of "stumbled upon" one of these and would like to put it to good use.
I've done a lot of searching and can't find any roms for rx3115 IPAC. I have one of these too and would love to fiddle with it again!! I even found on forum that said that it would not support WM 5 or 6 so I don't now if there is much hope. But if there was a program or instructions on how to make our own ROM I would sure like to try!!! I believe it has WM 2003 CE on it now...
Me too!!! I too have one of those...
rx3115
I have an rx3115 also. I am following this thread.
This will be quite difficult and complicated, first of all, what do you want to do with stock ROM? If some apps can't be installed on WM2003SE, then adding them to ROM won't change anything. However, I'm willing to help, send me a PM with stock ROM and changes you want, I'll try to develop somethin' good .
Thanks tomcug!!!
I'll also PM you the links from this post.
I too have an rx3115 and have been searching all over for ways to upgrade it: cooked ROMs, Linux, Unix... SOMEthing. LOL
So far you're the only cook who's wanted to take a swing at this. There are no easy answers for rx3115 that I can find anywhere on the net.
Here's the last official rx3115 update of WM2003 (1.01.11) complete with installer
http://www.mediafire.com/file/i6k0935chhkgzlh/iPAQ rx3115 ROM 1_01_11.exe
I'd hate to lose the Nevo (IrDA universal remote control) from it, but would sacrifice that if I could upgrade the OS...
Better yet - maybe you could work with this WM 6.1 Classic ROM that was cooked for the rx1950. It supports the ARMv4T instruction set used by the rx3115. Here is just the .nbf file
http://www.mediafire.com/file/iu9p815w3yjpy6h/CEOS.nbf
At 27.82mb it would just fit on rx3115. Maybe a slimmed down version??? I would leave it to you to decide what to remove. LOL who am I to tell a cook how to season his offering???
And the WM 6.1 install cab for Mobile Office
http://www.mediafire.com/file/nmz3sbyuxan7c4e/office_wpc_WM6.CAB
Of course - any help would be greatly appreciated by many rx3115 owners.
And here's my thread of what I've been trying to accomplish with my rx3115.

Thanks Again,

All right, then I'll try to do something good . I don't know if this will work and that's why I need to ask you one more thing. Is it possible to flash this phone when it's not booting? I mean windows hangs.
It's a straight Pocket PC with no Phone capability. Full specs are here:
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=122&view=1&c=hewlett-packard_ipaq_rx3115
Short answer: yes, the ROM is user flashable up to 28mb of 32mb total.
Long Answer...
The HP update I sent you will flash the ROM under Win XP with ActiveSync installed. The RUU (ROM Update Utility) needs RAPI.dll from ActiveSync in order to run. It won't function under Win 7 for me - it generates a comm error.
Theoretically it is possible to flash any (size appropriate) ROM to the device with this Universal iPAQ Bootloader:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ubl/files/ubl/Binaries/
My system flagged the UBL as having a Worm in the Vista Drivers though. I can't tell if it is a false positive (I'm not qualified for that) so I didn't use it under Win 7.
Instead, I stripped out the infected(?) bits and tried it on an XP box. Here's that file:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/7anraar1tkc3lz1/BootLoader.rar
It fails to put rx3115 into bootloader mode even though it connects via USB.
There is a manual way to put rx3115 into Bootloader mode: MultiMedia (button 1) + iTask (button 4) + Power + Reset. But every time I put it in Bootloader mode manually, that seems to kill the rx3115's USB port. It becomes invisible to PC... I don't know if there is another step to manually enable USB mode under Bootloader. I haven't been able to find the right button(s) for that so far...
And manually entering Bootloader mode hasn't allowed me to flash from SD card either. I always get a "Wrong Image" error, even with .nbf file from the last official update!!!
I know it's not the device - I can reflash the last update over USB on a Win XP box if I use the official update package.
LOL - an executable which uses HP's RUU would be preferable for technologically deficient users such as myself.
Feel free to PM me or post back here if you have any more questions.
Thanks again.
Well, no progress at the moment and probably there's won't be any progress at all. I don't know how to extract CEOS.nbf, all tools I've tried can't do it.
By extract, do you mean view and edit???
uedit32 (hex editor???) will open it and allow changes to be saved. It even keeps the original version as a backup...
http://www.mediafire.com/file/6r8ffn1fq3bh9mu/uedit32.exe
Making ROM with hex editor ? That would take hundreds of years or even more . What I need is a tool or set of tools that can extract XIP and IMGFS from CEOS.nbf, that's the way you make ROM's. And tools I've tried doesn't work for this phone, however they work for HTC and i-mate phones I own.
EDIT:
I've also tried rx1950 kitchen, but it's a fail too. There are tools there but only for making CEOS.nbf from XIP and IMGFS images, nothing what I need .
Looking for the 802.11g mod for rx3115
I saw an experimental mod somewhere to enable the rx3115 to use 802.11g. If anyone knows where it is, please share. I lost the link. I was looking up the embedded chips at the time I saw it, so I think it was a forum.
All right, making a little update here. After long time of hard work I need to say that it's impossible to make WM 6.5.3 ROM for this device, drives and OEM stuff from WM 2003 SE simply won't work with any newer OS. Sorry for that but there's nothing we can do .
Hey there,
I am a student in a GUI design class and we are building applications for the Android OS. Well, we were each given an Android Dev phone to experiment with and use to develop our apps. I was messing around with mine and started loading some ROMs and such. Anyway, long story short, I managed to mess something up. I restarted the device, after flashing the new update.zip, and it didn't get past the "Android" load screen... For hours... I had other things to do, so I just left it plugged in with the hope that it would eventually move on. It didn't.
So, I set into motion to restore it to the factory default for the Android Dev phone. Again, long story short... I managed to flash the T-Mobile factory defaults onto my Developer phone... Now I am completely STUCK... I can't get past the Gmail login screen because I don't havea t-mobile SIM card, nor can I get around it to get to the WiFi settings. I found the HTC developer center and have been trying to follow the directions there, but I can't gain access to it through the adb. My computer recognizes the device, but the ADB tool can't seem to find it when I use the "adb devices" command.
I am using a 64bit version of Windows 7. I would love any suggestions and advice you could all give me, as I need this to function as a developer phone for the semester, as well as for when I have to turn the phone back to my prof.
Thanks in advance...
Hey all,
I own an unlocked ATT Tilt 1 (Kaiser 8925). It is currently running windows mobile which is extremely slow. I have read all over the internet that you can put the Android 2.2 OS on this phone and have seen youtube videos on this topic also.
Ideally I need to be able to buy apps from the android marketplace.
Since I'm not a phone hacker I'd like to find a professional cel phone service company that can do this for me.
I searched extensively on Google and can't seem to find one. So who can do this and what is the normal charge for something like this.
Just trying make my old phone useful in wifi mode.
Any advice would be great.
Regards Henry
I don't think there is a company that provides such a service especially if we take in to account that kaiser/tilt is a 3 year old device and the android port is not official. There are plenty of topics in the forum describing how to replace winmo with Android. You don't have to be a hacker to run Android on your phone. Just read the stickies and you wil be able to flash ityourself in no time
There are phone dealers out there (in the USA anyway), that will do this for a fee on the Kaiser, but trust me, with what has gone into the development of this, almost anyone can do it. Save yourself the money and try it yourself. The worst I've heard about is a mis-flashed phone needing some master reset.
The question is who?
I live here in the Orlando area and have called a number of cel phone companies.
I was treated like King Gidorah Three Headed Space Monster. They didn't have a clue this could be done.

Listen HenrykJR there are about dozens of android builds on this forum + many different versions of two kernels, not all of those will work correctly for you. You might experience different issues with one setup but the other will work correctly for you. So even if there was a company that could flash it for you, you might end up with an unstable device. Also how could a company gain knowledge on flashing android builds to a phone that was originally shipped with windows mobile??? You seem to be looking for Nessy....in woods.
Your best bet now is to find someone in the forums to help you flash your device....maybe even use skype to show you how to do it. It really isn't that hard.
Hehe, i don´t think you´ll find a Company that will do it for you. Maybe you find some guys that do it for Money (me to ). But if you spend a little time with reading through this forum you could do it yourself and save the money.
Preparing:
1.) You need a SD card (mandatory for android on Kaiser). And you need a Google Mail Account for syncing your contacts etc. and access the android market.
2.) You have to "unlock" your Phone (with HSPL/HardSPL). Only after that you are able to flash things (Cusom WinMo ROMs, Radio, Android) to your Kaiser. So read through this guide and follow step 1-4.
3.) Now you have an unlocked phone an you should be able to flash everything. And the first thing you flash should be the latest "radio". The "radio" for Kaiser is similar to the BIOS for your PC. Like the subsystem and responsible for GSM chipset etc... So look & read in this Radio-Thread, download the latest Radio (it is 1.71.09.01) an follow the guide "Flashing Radio from microSD"
4.) Now your Phone is up-to-date and ready for flashing Android (or WinMo custom roms). YOU NEVER HAVE TO DO THE STEPS 1-3 AGAIN! Your Phone is now completely prepared!
Flashing Android:
For Android on Kaiser you always need 2 Parts. The Kernel (this part initialize the hardware so its similar to "driver" on PC) and the Built (the Android OS itself). But Both should work together so you´ll may find in some kernel suggestions in Built-threads because not ever kernel work with every built. For your beginning i whould suggest you some things:
First the kernel:
DZO is the most popular (the father of android on Kaiser) Kernel-Developer for Kaiser. So go to his repository and download "voguimg-240x320-2.6.32-froyo-09-10-10_23.nbh". Because Vouge and kaiser have almost the same hardware we all could use this kernel. But everyone have to modify this kernel to make phone related optimizations. You can do thy by hand (not recommended for you) or with a tool called "Atools". This tool is writthen in "Python" so mac and linux user could use it too. But you need to install Python. But that is all described in the Atools thread. Read through it and follow the guide.
Modifing Kernel:
We will only modify the madatory things. Not more at the moment...
So run Atools, klick on the "folder" Button and load the "voguimg-240x320-2.6.32-froyo-09-10-10_23.nbh".
Device: "Kaiser" should be checked
Resolution: 240x320 should be checked (native resolution of Kaiser display). Everything else will give blurry optic.
Version: "Froyo" should be checked, because we will flash a Froyo built (thats android 2.2). If you want to flash an older built like a Donut one (1.6) you have to modify & flash your kernel again.
Panel Type: Try "auto" or "1" first. But if you have a fuzzy screen or artifacts you have to try out which paneltype fits best for your device. HTC has built in 3 different displays in the Kaiser and the only way to find out which one is builtin is trial & error.
Keymap: Depends on which hardware keyboard layout you have. Here in Germeny i have to use "qwertz".
We leave the other options as they are an klick on the "Disk" button to save our modificated kernel now. it save it as "KAISIMG.nbh".
Now we need the Built:
I suggest "Fat Free Froyo" at the moment. Fast, stable, an looks good. So go to this thread and download "ODEX DOWNLOAD RLS5 ALL LANG-ODEX" on the bottom of the post.
then unzip/unrar this file...
Flashing your first Android:
1.) You should have a fat32 formatted SD card
2.) put the Kernel (the modified KAISIMG.nbh) to the root of SD card
3.) Create a folder named "andboot" on SD card
4.) Put the unzipped file (androidinstall.tar or .tgz) in the folder "andboot"
5.) Remove SIMcard and any cables from phone and put the SD card in your phone. Battery should be 50% carged or more...
6.) go to bootloader-mode (press and hold camera button and powerbutton). the KAISIMG should be loaded and it will show you "press powerbutton to update" or something similar. Do that... Now a progressbar will appear. When it is at 100% wait a few seconds an then pull the battery. Wait 10 seconds an insert it again. Voila! You flashed your first android kernel!
7.) Now we have to install android itself. So Power on the phone. In the moment when you see small white text on black background you have to press and hold the d-pad button. This one in the middle. Now you get in the install menu.
8.) Leave the options "System on nand" and "DATA on nand" as it is. Navigate to "install system" an press dpad. It ask "format system" and "format data". Both "YES". after this procedure you enter the menu again. navigate to "quit".
9.) Yeah! The first Bootup of Android! The first bootup takes longer as the following ones because now the system prepares for bootup and do a lot of optimisations. Even if you enter the lockscreen you should give it 10 minutes time to finish this optimization process in backround.
10.) Finish! You have flashed your first android completely! Now you can play around and make your settings. Remember: You have to sign in to your google account befor you can access the market or syncronize your contacts etc.!
Sounds more complicated as it is. Try it!
And if you´ll dig in deeper in this stuff you have to read here! Especially the Stickies/Refs/Tutorials! We´ve all done that!
have fun!

Brother, You can do it yourself, I can assure you. Regarding any ambiguity, you can contact me through PM. (I can guide you complete on voice over skype / msn). Its a TIDEOUS job but EASY to do since there is no MEANS OF BRICKING your kaiser (unless you flash something else than what u have do to install android).
I am here to help you in this community. And you can do this thing yourself.
Your device is At&t Tilt. The bad thing about installing android is getting a RIGHT kernel that suits your LCD type and enables wifi in the android build u install. (maybe in 1st try, maybe takes almost 10 tries like it happened for me)
