I know some of us were having problems setting Opera to default through the Opera settings, so i set out to figure a way around it. So now when you go to your internet tab, you can go straight to Opera instead of to the programs list.
heres how:
-open your Registry Editor
-navigate to HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila
-change value in DefaultBrowserIsIE from "1" to "0"
-change value in Internet.SetOperaForeground from "0" to "1"
click save. and youre good to go.:].
glad i could contribute to the website. .
Good looks!
What about when you click a link from your email? IE still launches from links that leads to the browser.
Worked like a charm! Thanx OP! Anyone daring enough to test the push internet keys listed in there?
Nice going awesome find!
The earth goes to opera.. but the bookmarks go to IE? thats weird.
am i missing something i thought opera was the default browser, it is on my uk un branded TP2

This is for T-Mobile TP2's only. T-Mobile always ****s things up.
But to the one that asked, links in E-Mails go through the default browser, which is now Opera Mobile.

How do we change those bookmarks? I don't know how, they seem to be tied to the IE browser favorites. Can they be edited or linked to a different location?

Go into Opera Mobile, and in the address bar (clear out everything), type in opera:config and press enter.
You can go through the settings there. I think it's under Advanced? I forget. But check the box for default browser. Then save the settings and close out of Opera Mobile. Now see if it's default. You might have 2 repeat that a few times for it to take effect, for some reason. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547750)

THANKS! Took about 4 times but it finally took!
maybe if you try deleting them, and then choosing your favorites in Opera. Then maybe they'll go to the Internet tab? worth a try. .
Yeah let us know how that went.
EDIT: How do you delete the bookmarks? I removed all the favorites from IE. I still see CNN, ESPN and Facebook. How am I able to add my own?
Anyone know how to reg edit to change the internet tab in tf3d so that it opens to a page of your choosing and not the stupid web2go address??

Perform actions in 1st post of this thread. Works like a charm! (Thanks btong1978! ;.) )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548770
Only thing now, though, I can't figure out why web links that I click on in email messages don't open using Opera Mobile...still opens using Iexplorer Can anyone help??? Thanks!
PS - I love that btong1978's fixes allows EVERYTHING in the "Internet" TouchFlo tab to open using Opera...sweeeet ;.)
Oh - Also read through this thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550647&highlight=opera+mobile+default+web+browser], Contentryder. Seems to have some Cabs that may fix your issue (I say "may" b/c I've not tried it myself, but it all makes sense and seems to have put all of btong1978's fixes into a Cab file that takes care of everything for you w/o you having to get your hands dirty w/ reg edits ;.)
Happy tweaking!

I have installed Opera 10 as many. I did unistall it later and since when I click on an link from a mail, instead of the stock Opera, my HD opens up Explorer. Obviously a registry key has changed - but which one? I am running stock ROM (1.56). Anybody knows how to make the pre installed Opera the default for browsing?
Thank you
Have you tried opening Opera and just setting it as your default browser again?
Open Opera, go to Menu, Tools, Settings, Misc. Then check Set Opera as Default Browser... or something similar to that. That may fix it. Let us know.
Check this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\DefaultBrowserIsIE
Set to 0

I cannot find the sequence you describe! Opening Opera I find: Menu, Settings and no setting for default browser!

I cannot find the specific key!!! Would that be the problem? unistalling Opera, could it be that it deleted the key?
I searched through the whole registry and I can find it nowhere!
What do you suggest? can I add it?

Calm down. The guys above have now clue what they are talking about.
Opera 10 has no menu style like the previous versions.
You have to manipulate/enter the registry keys, but be carefull.
Up to now, there is no simple way to make Opera 10 the default.
But if you want to try (it is working):

No Basthet, they just took the time to read the request clearly.
The request is for help resetting the original opera 9.x to be the default browser.
Either solutions offered will achieve this.

Thanks m8 , I chose not to respond to a totally uncalled for response from someone who does not even know how to read.
Set opera to open at manila tab
I know, that if you want to set the built-in opera to open when you click on the icon on the manila internet tab, then go to the registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\: DEFBROWSER
and set there key
0 to "Opera Browser"
1 to "Windows\OperaL.exe"
And I think it should solve also your problem. I hope it helps...

Thanks for the critique. Next time, please read carefully before deciding to post about someone's lack of intelligence... then just don't post.
Thank you all - even those who cannot read! - my problem is that although when I click the icon in the manila internet tab, it correctly opens Opera, BUT when I click from within an outlook email containing a link, it opens IE - and this is what I want to change!

I was just thinking (I don't have Opera 9.5 or 9.7 installed at the moment, so I'm guessing). To set Opera as your default browser open it up and go to Settings, click on Advanced then scroll to the bottom and choose "Set Opera as default browser". Just to be safe, soft reset then try it. Trial and error... please report back.
This seems to give you what you are looking for. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3729890&postcount=3

Try to refresh the page. If that doesn't work, clear your cache and cookies.

10x for the reply but i've tried that already and it didnt work
I did find the solution though... it was the uncertified scripts that chrome says the site uses...
chrome gives you a shield icon on the right side of the address bar, i clicked it and chose to "load unsafe script" and it worked.
Now here is my problem. I have cleared the caches and history as well. But at first time, it shows like I have entered wrong Id & password & simultaneously, I am logged in to XDA. For brief info, please look into the Attachment.

From that screenshot I see you are trying to visit https://www.xda-developers.com; it should be http://www.xda-developers.com (non-ssl http). The CSS script on our CDN doesn't have a certificate which is why you received that error.

I didn't try it. Actually i just click on Bookmark of XDA made by me in Chrome.
When I post something, I get this message at the top:
The string you entered for the image verification did not match what was displayed.
What image verification? There's only the reCAPTCHA thing at the bottom that doesn't work half the time. Maybe fix that, instead of displaying a correct message.
Hi,
are you posting in a web browser, or app? Mobile or desktop?
Do you always get that when you make a post?
And are you entering the correct captcha?

Hi. I have the same problem.
It happens while posting from Slimjet (chrome-based browser) and Firefox.
Everytime i do a captcha, the first time is ALWAYS wrong and it needs to be redone. Maybe the second time will be ok. The third time is sometimes ok. Is a wheel of fortune, dang it.

I post replies using browser on my mobile phone and everytime it asks for captcha verification. Please suggest any fix.
On Mozilla Firefox, the box of image verification is always found empty. So I am unable to reply any post
Kindly fix it for Firefox users.

Do you use adblock or 3rd party script blocker? I noticed sometimes these will block captcha.
