This is to make your Hermes to have CJK (Chinese/Japanese/Korean) support. It enables your Hermes to read Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters. Here I created two installations:
CJK for Hermes with SC_Song (download link) - 3289 KB
CJK for Hermes with SC_Song, KS_Phonetic and MS_YaHei as default (download link) - 17748 KB
The installation will overwrite your \Windows\wince.nls with mine. After reboot, you will be able to see Chinese, Japanese in your Regional Settings, but it won't change your current settings.
Please note that they do not include any SIP so you don't have the input method. For Chinese Simplified, I do suggest PlumSIP6 Pro. (do a google for it if you would like to try) I don't know any nice SIP for Chinese Traditional and Japanese, so you may share if you do.
This is the first time I build cab installation. Please do report if you have any problem.
Thanks.
What encodings does Internet Explorer allow to choose from after the installation?

Russian == sucks
You'd better use english ROM and localize only the keyboard with LEng or some other tool.

Seems you are new here , dont know who is Mamaich , better look what his post and how he help people in here , maybe you had no ideal how made AKU3.2 rom ,and why everyone made any rom always said thanks Mamaich,I think you better said sorry to him, they are no any RUS rom for Uni in the world but I knew Mamaich can make it , but why he said sucks ? I tell you why because cant find VGA RUS mui special in some of program , if you can find it than said sucks for him or me otherwide sucks is you AXP understand.
PS.Mamaich lived in RUS
Russian interface sucks for 4 reasons.
1. Awful translation. Sometimes you need to translate a phrase back to English just to understand what it should mean. I call it "русЕфЕкация".
2. Localized interfaces look ugly - lines don't fit dialogs, font problems, etc.
3. Localized ROMs appear later than english, so you have to use obsolete OSes.
4. Localizations are made by Quarta and similar companies who do them via reverse engineering ROMs (extracting & translating resources, patching hardcoded strings, editing registry etc - I know what I'm talking about). In most cases this is done incorrectly, and such ROMs are unstable.
The best thing you can do - is to localize only the on-screen/hardware keyboard and select Russian regional settings. In this case you'll get a stable OS and an ability to use Russian.
Attached one screenshot (this is a russian version of Windows desktop search downloaded from microsoft site).
But there are already many ROMs have Chinese interface. The mui files and some dll files were all translated into Chinese.
However,I still love the English interface. What I did was only to replace wince.nls with a Chinese one, remove all the English inputs and SmartDialer, and replace the ttf file with Chinese file, also edit registry.Without mamaich,we can never do this.

Probably, I should apologize. My English not so is good, and I have understood a phrase literally - that Russia (instead of the Russian interface) - sucks. With your statements I absolutely agree. Itself and I do.

Thanks a lot.
Happy new year.
Greets Daniel.
I think everything is OK right now. Russian fonts are already present in every ROM - either Helmi's or Ivan's or Jwrightmcps's. And there are a lot of russian keyboards to choose from. So everyone can use Mobile Word or smth to edit russian docs.
And it's not too difficult to remember some menu items in English even if the user doesn't know English.
And, sure, OS developers can not make english applications to run in russian.
So I don't see a problem.
Hi, i'm looking for a new rom which support chinese applications. The one i'm the currently using does the job, but its pretty old now. (i'm not using LVSW now)
I am using Hypercore 3.62 - Final, and plug in the chinese inputs, fonts, etc. myself instead of CE-star or monster. The result is pretty fast and stable.
Follow this link for adding chinese support to Eng. ROM. It's in trad. Chinese.

but you still can't read chinese text(*.txt), Can you? To do that, you have to change the setting in Regional Settings at first. But I can't find any options for PRC or Taiwan or HongKong there.
The methode may not be usefull for the products sold outside asia.

I can view, edit Chinese! The regional settings can be set to HK, China, Macau, Taiwan, etc. after you follow the steps in the link in post #2. (see screen shots below). The regional settings comes with the ROM you flashed, and it has nothing to do with where you bought it. (Of course I am not talking about official rom from carriers)
PS - You have to solve the line break problem in displaying chinese text by changing the registry. Find the key called "SystemLCID", change the value from 409 to 404 and do a soft reset, all chinese are displayed properly with line breaks.

Hi,
I struggled for a long time to get a stable simplified Chinese writing and display system. What seems to work very well for me is ANY of Schaps' ROM, I have been using them since 3.54 and Leies CE-star cabs. I just install the font cab, pinyin cab, and handwriting cab for simplified and it works really well. I am not a huge fan of CE Star, the chinese IME for motorola e680i (my old phone) was much better, but this is the best I've found for WM6 so far. PM me if you can't find the cabs.
link is already dead!
Hello !
I just bought a HTC Touch HD. I often need to write in russian. I generally use the built-in Phonepad keyboard and T9 for french and english. Spanish, german and italian are aslo available. How can i add russian language there ? I would need T9 and also cyrillic letters on the phonepad instead of latin letters.
Is it possible so far ?
Thanks for your advises
Here it is on narod.ru service:
rus_keyboard_TouchHD.zip
By the way there are keyboard, dialer and letter search stripe for contacts in russian in the archive. You can install all of it separately.
Does it add Russian T9?
does it have en/ru switch?
Thanks
SDK
BTW this installation requires the SDK rights. I did have it as cab. I'll post it as soon as I find it ...
[upd] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437307&highlight=sdkcerts
BUT it does not help.
no permissions to install...
any ideas?
Cheers
Yes, you can change keyboard layout.
Also, you don`t need those SDK rights to install it -100%. You need to kill some process in memory to install it successfully - SIPGT_app.exe. It works well for me.
Maybe this link will also help you.
Thanks, i will try this
I have searched and searched for the Norwegian language on my X1, keyboard and dictionary on the Norwegian, because I want to use the keyboard, we have extra letters as "æ" "ø" "å".
hope someone has found a solution, or can create one as soon as possible.
This is something that is very important to me in the job context.
regards
losty-1H
Hi Losty,
I assume that you have a Norwegian hardware keyboard in the first place.
- If you are using an non-Norwegian WM version then you will have to do a registry change to use æ,ø,å on the hardware keyboard.
Either use Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm) on your phone, or run an editor from your computer via ActiveSync, like the free CERegEditor (http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/).
Quote:
In the registry, navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD
Change the CurLan g value to match your language:
English: 409
Norwegian: 414
(Make sure you edit the value in hex)
- I don't think you can add the Norwegian dictionary to a non-Norwegian Windows Mobile version (anyone please correct me if i'm wrong) but you can still add words to the dictionary by typing them in as you go.
The original dictionary file is not known yet, and there are no editors avaliable either. I can't seem to find anyone who has successfully solved this issue.
The custom word dictionary file is \Windows\ "compimeh.0409.dat"
The custom dictionary in a Norwegian WM should be "compimeh.0414.dat"
I restored a copy of the "0414" from a Norwegian WM6.1 backup and replaced the original "0409" English one. I still get english word suggestions but at least my originally added words (from WM6.1 Norwegian) pops up now.
- Well if you want to set the WM language to Norwegian AND use a custom ROM, you are probably best off using something like itje's Touch-IT Xperience 21046.1.6.3 (Norwegian).
If not then you can set part of the OS (day naming, calendar, clock etc) to Norwegian by going to Settings->System->Regional Settings.
Cheers
A.J.
I'm looking for some support on how to enable East Asian character support, chinese and japanese characters on the TP2.
When I receive messages via email, they're coming up as squares or gibberish. The stock ROM I had initially had support for the characters, but most of the new ROMs I've tried/flashed don't.
Is there a cab or some way to enable encoding for East Asian characters so the phone can read/render/en/decode them properly?
Cheers

You want Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese support?
Some tp2 comes tweaked by htc to include chinese support on WWE ROM, but since yours doesn't, try:
1. CE-Star suite: http://www.mobem.com/products/CE-Star.php
2. Studio Kuma: http://www.studiokuma.com/wm/?section=support (no Simplified Chinese - Traditional Chinese + Japanese support only)

Thanks for that Mesquire. My stock ROM had support for Chinese, but the baked ROMs that the chefs are releasing don't. And I'm not sure what is needed for them to include to make it work, as I was told to give them what was needed and they'll add it.
I'm after simplified Chinese + Jap, so I'll try CE-Star. Thanks =)

i've been looking for something like this.
but, i downloaded the wm 5/6 version with "x" from that website and downloaded it to my mogul...
it isn't really working

1.) 系統安裝 : 只可選一個安裝
System Big5C.cab <- 繁體
System GBKC.cab <- 簡體
***** 安裝後系統會要求 Reset , 千萬不要 Reset !!!! *****
2.) 輸入法安裝 : 選擇安裝
ChaJei倉頡.cab
Jianyi速成.cab
Penpower蒙恬Big5.cab
Penpower蒙恬GBK.cab
Pinyin拼音.cab
Yuepin粵拼.cab
Zhuyin注音.cab
3.) 最後安裝過程
到 Start -> Programs -> CE-Star , 按下 Install , Reset 後就完成 .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I want to either chose Big5C or GBKC? which one?
then i reset, then download all the other cabs? (again either Penpower Big5 or Penpower GBK)...but other than that all of them, correct?
then reset?
i've done this and the ce-star menu i get seems to lead to nowhere
please help
DON'T use Ce-star.

Depends on which type of Chinese characters encoding you require. If you want Traditional Chinese, as used by Taiwan and Hongkong, then install BIG5. If you need Simplified Chinese support as used by China, Singapore and others, install GBKC
then i reset, then download all the other cabs? (again either Penpower Big5 or Penpower GBK)...but other than that all of them, correct?

NO!!!
#1 Choose one of the system cab (not both):
a) System Big5C.cab or b) System GBKC.cab
when prompt to reset, do NOT reset
#2 Install the cab for input method(s) you require
#3 Start -> Programs -> All Programs > Install
#4 Reset when prompt
Since you have not installed it correctly, I suggest you uninstall it and start again.
