Evening guys and gals,
Just flashed my Imate Jasjam to Schap's wonderful Rom (lite) version and LOVING it, just had a few quick questions:
1. As an Australian resident, when people call from home lines/mobiles - the Caller ID is obviously setup for Americans - ie. (075) 582 3293, however here in Australia our Caller ID is setup to be (07) 5582 3293 for example. I couldn't for the life of me see where this could be changed, any help would be sweet.
2. Is there anyway to increase the length of Ringing when someone calls? Or is that simply up to your Telecommunications provider and when Message Bank kicks in?
Thanks,
EG04
1. Try changing the language under Settings/System/Regional Settings
2. That's up to the service provider.
Thanks for your prompt reply mate. In response to the change in Regional Settings, it was a good idea (and one I hadn't thought of) but after changing them, and applying a Soft Rest, still didn't change

I can change how long my phone rings before going to voicemail by going into
Start/Settings/Phone
Click the Services tab and highight 'Call Forwarding' then click 'get settings'
I change mine to the max 30seconds with AT&T. Default is 20sec
I LOVE u MrDSL - 1 problem down, mine was on 15 seconds which was RIDICULOUS with city noise and me dancing to the Ringtone .
Still can't figure out for the life of me how to switch to Australia Caller ID rules...

You could always force it to display however you want just by editing your contacts in Outlook. Instead of (041) 8888888 just change it to (04) 18888888 or you can take out the brackets altogether. And this isn't just Schap's. It's all ROMs... maybe not the Telstra ones though they're probably preconfigured for Australia.
Re your problem with caller ID format.
Don't know if any of this helps, but a couple of things I noted.
I use S2U2 as a screen saver/locker. One of the options in this program is to modify the format of the caller ID number. Only trouble is, the only options it gives are nothing (default), US format, and full international format. Not sure what it would do on your phone, but it might be worth a play.
You can modify HKLM/Security/ColdInit/Locale to 3081 (decimal) if it's not set already.
That may change back, however when you re-boot. (See this post).

Hi,
Maybe i'm missing something. How do I disable the caller ID from saying the callers name (simply not loud enough), and just set it to the ringer tone I orginally had? I ran a search and came up with 1000 hits . I know there is a simple solution but maybe i'm just blind.
Update: I don't know what is going on now. I managed to get the ringtones to work, but the call ID girls talks at the same time.
What do you mean by that ?
Do you mean to PhotoContacts that can choose ringtone per contacts?
or MS voicecommand ?
MS voice command has nothing to do with it. I mean when a caller calls me, the default ringtone (set to oldring.wma) and the girl's voice telling me who the caller is and where, come on at the same time. I want to disable the girl's vioce altogether leaving me with only the default ringtone.
What I find mysterious is that I have two versions of Caller ID's in the /Windows directory, IA-P_Contacts.exe version 1.17 (build 16895) and PhotoContacts.exe Caller ID version 1.20 (build 17975). When I customize the setting on either version and a person calls me, I can see both custom animated images pop up. As well as the girl's vioce and the ringtone I assigned to a caller.
As of now, I don't know how to turn off the girl's vioce and I have no idea why two custom animated images are showing in the pop up when a caller calls.
I think both IA_contacts and Photocontacts are thesame program but in different version.
If you want to disable one ,you can do it by delete it from \Windows\Startup.
Firstly ,this is an easy way to stop this problem.
In my suggestion, IA_contacts is older version and it cannot assign ringtone per contacts. If you need to use only default ringtone ,you should pick its.
But in Photocontacts which is newer version ,You can assign ringtone per contacts.
Secondly, in your Ext Rom, It may have Two version of CallerID.
To eliminate this problem, You need to edit your Ext ROM and remove one of this.

Thanks for the tips tumtum. This is what I entually ended up doing. More or less per your instructions.
* In Call ID Options (old version), I disabled/ unticked all the available boxes.
* Disabled/ Removed IA_Caller_ID.lnk from the /startup folder
-- reset --
Results: pop up with no images, caller ID girls still there, default ringtone is audable.
This is what I wanted, but is there a way to remove the Caller ID voice girl? The reason why I want to do this is that it the voice and the ringtone cancels each other out in most cases.
PS. It seams that when you go into the Caller ID options, without changing anything, the pop up doesn't want to show anymore and the ringtone isn't audable anymore as well. But the Caller ID girl is still there. It takes a reset to get the functions back.
Man do I want to break up with her. The sooner, the better. :x

Could you capture your screen that you have problm ?
Because I can't undrestand what you mean "caller ID girls".
Perhaps I can help you.

I can do something better. I recorded it with my Sony Ericsson T610. The trick was to convert the amr file to mp3 format because I don't know whether or not you have a player that plays amr files.
When you play it, you will notice a girl telling you who is calling, according to your phone book, and at what number. I want to remove the girl talking.

That's sound like "Microsoft Voice Command".
Because I had used it before.
I'm pretty sure that's MS voice command.
To nomadman
I need you to check something
At Start > Setting > Personal, Do you have voicecammand icon?
If yes ,you can set it by clicking it.
And set option at Phone to Disable speaking the name of Contacts who calling.

OMG! You are so right tumtum 8) . I just didn't realize it was a simple solution. It has been a while since I registered and installed my copy of MSVC and I didn't bother to check the command settings.Man, I sure appreciate your feedbacks on this. You have made a freind for life.
Now, to get back my old setting again. Glad I made a Sprite backup everytime I installed a cab file . If there is any way I can be of service, hollar at me.
Best regards..
Glad to hear that.
I can do as best as I can do. Because We are friends.

I think alot of people would like to see this feature. It is possible. I read about it in the Magician section yesterday but it seemed really complicated.
Slightly OT: Why would you want the screen off? Surely you want to know you have a message?
I personally don't think PPC notifies you *enough*. I want something more than a little icon.

1- where is the redial function when busy ???
It's no where (I think)
2- How to hide my number from the caller that i'm calling ( my network provide me with this service)
Open phone app. -> Tools -> Options -> Services -> Caler Id
Or get the code from your telco. that you can enter before the number each time you call someone.
3- Everytime i receive a sms my screen comes on how to keep it off
This helps alot
4- Where can i find middlet to install or programs or what so ever
Millions of places, did you try google
Thank you for your fast reply, now can i use my PDA2K as a webcam ??

If you don't notice, the screen gets mashed in your pocket. Mine usually eds up connecting to expensive GPRS and having the time of its life remotely syncing and opening large images on the web at £2.35 per Mb.
The noise and vibration is plenty for me. Here's a thread from the Magician section on it:

No - check the other thread.[/url]
Cingular 8525 comes up as unknown caller for a sec and then shows the caller no. What should i do to fix this? it's kinda annoying!
I get the same Issue
Mine does the samething but it still does show the number. So, its not an issue for me.
Jeez, some people are soooooo picky maybe its the network that has the issue?
Me too!! Why is it becoming more prevalent?
Incoming calls don't show my contact photos anymore, and with previous Rom, I just had .jpeg's on my Storage card,,and all I used to do before was add the picture in my contacts . Right now, only the incoming phone number comes up, and that isn't satisfactory
turns out this is a network issue. I finally got sick of this and called AT&T - AGAIN - and they finally had a tech that knew what to do. They replaced my sim chip and everything is hunky dory...so, call em and get a new chip
Hope this helps...

Figured it was a network issue.
Solution!
i've found a solution!
first i've changed my radio to 1.47.30.10 from 1.56.70.11
second i changed my rom to tyr0 v.1.2 (build 19213).
finally i don't have this issue anymore for about a month since then
Its not a network issue. Its the time Windows Mobile takes to seek all thru your contacts database and crossmatch every incomming number for the associated name.
Regards,
Carty..
this work!
Try this!!!!
set HKCU\Control Panel\Phone\LogCleanPeriod value to "0"
Hi all,
I posted somethinig similar to this a while ago. I am using my Diamond to call VoIP numbers, i.e. call a landline then wait for a few seconds and enter the destination number followed by hash #. The landline number is the same for all destinations and only the second part differs, which is the destination number. The numbers look like:
0123456789, 00447890123456#
Now, if I store two or more such contacts in the address book, e.g.
Bar: 0123456789, 00441234567890#
Foo: 0123456789, 00447890123456#
Joe: 0123456789, 00445678901234#
the, regardless which one I call, say Foo, in the call log it will always list "Bar" as having been called. The same happens if I replace the comma with a "p". The number however is stored correctly, i.e. if I redial it, it will call the number for Foo which is what was dialed in the first place.
It appears as being a bug in WM6.1. I haven't tried WM6.5 (anyone?).
How in the world can I fix this?
Cheers for any help
foo? bar? linux-user? i google your text for translaiting but nothing understanding.
do you mean that the order is not correct?
(if you can give an example with more friendly-understanding/windows-user than you can get earlier response from other forum-users.)
hope, you not so much angry

I understood perfectly. Perhaps it is a english as a second language barrier. I will try to restate the issue. (I wish I knew the answer.)
When you have a extra long number stored to a contact (as you might when you dial a AT&T toll free number with some pauses, then a passcode, then a number.) And you have more than one contact stored with this long number... they all have the same first 10 or so numbers. So regardless of which one was called last, when you look up the call history log, it displays the first one.
It would appear the call history only looks at the first 10 or so digits to find a match.

if this is the case, you can use advanced config or diamond tweak (forgot which one had the option) and from there you can set how many numbers it should check
@misfitflt: Thanks for rephrasing the problem .. I was just about to post. Cheers!

I forgot to mention I already played with the number of trailing digits in AdvConfig (that's what apparently the option is called) ... I tried values from the default 6 to 20 and nothing changed. The buggy behaviour persists.
I recently tried a new dialer with address book application that replaces the TF3D dialer; it is called Inesoft Phone v4.5 (it's actually pretty cool). This one does differentiate between numbers with pauses or commas correctly!
I'll try switching off the dialer completely and use the built-in WM6.1 dialer to see if that works fine. If so then the bug is in TouchFlo (?).
Anyone knows of other good dialer software that I could try?
Cheers,
p.s. I'm surprised this hasn't surfaced until now though ... anyone out there with the same issue? Or maybe I need to give the thread a more appropriate title.
i have the same issue but learnt to live with it as i didnt want to shift to another dialer.
tried playing with the number in adv config but of no avail
lemme know if you find anything
Dear All,
I am looking for the answering machine for Excalibur, is that possible to have it.
Respect for All
KARAN ADHIKARI

What do you mean "Answering Machine"..
When you don't pick up a call, the DASH will forward it to a certain phone number which acts as the Answer Machine...for T-Mobile for instance, it goes to a T-Mobile Number specific to your phone that is your answering 'machine'.
If you want to know how to change the number here is how :
Go to SETTINGS
Click on PHONE
Click on CALL FORWARDING
Under Call Forwarding there are multiple different instances...Click on each and it should let you change the phone number there...
Hope this helps
Thank You
Sir, I will not help me because I am from India hence using the local service providers.
Thnx..
Sorry, I did not really get your question initially then.
Is it that you want the message from the Excalibur's Answering Machine (ie. to use on other phones)? Or do you want to know what the number is?
Regardless of what country or area you are in, as long as you are on a network, there should be a "call forward" number for most (if not all) of those instances I mentioned above.
If you are asking if you could get a copy of the answering machine, you can surly get an audio copy by using a program to record the call (Search the forums, the name escapes me), however you can't get the (if you have it) "press ... to do this" and so on, as that is specific to the programming on the answering machine.
I hope this helps.
If once again, I don't seem to have understood your question correctly, could you please clarify a bit?
