Dude, the site requires Flash. Now someone correct me if I'm wrong, but currently I am not aware of ANY mobile browser that supports Flash yet.

thank you, thats all i wanna hear.

In the smartphone general forum, there was a post a while back about embedding the flash lite player in MSIE and opera mini. I don't know if it worked/works, but the pics looked impressive. That was just for flash video sites like youtube, though. Dunno how extensive the embedding was.

Anyone who can get this site to work on our WM6 Hermes?

Hi all,
First off, check out this site I was turned on to
(Go to it on a PC though to see how it works...)
www.tv-links.co.uk
It's a TON of tv shows/movies that you can stream for free.
Click on a show... any show, and see how it opens a new IE window and streams. This is where I'm a little hazy on what's happening. I'm not sure what's going on "Html-code-wise" to know why it won't work on my Tytn.
I've tried PIE and Opera, and set them both to be recognized as a desktop, but nothing will stream the content. It does open a new window, but then nothing happens. I'm doing this over HSDPA so I don't think speed is the issue at all.
This would be a great site to be able to get to our Tytn's. Can anyone figure out how to do it, or at least tell me what is happening that is not yet supported by mobile browsers?
the flash player in WM6 is not the full fledged desktop application to my knowledge. this website utilizes some Flash 9 components that just aren't in the mobile version. (again, to my knowledge).

And this is truly a shame. I had tried months ago to view ComedyCentral's Jon Stewart clips, to no avail...for the same reason.
I wonder how long it's going to take for Adobe to give us something for WM devices that works with the new security features they've built into the newer desktop versions.

Hmmm ... Flash Player Mobile, eh? I DL'd the trial, and I'll check it out with Jon Stewart tomorrow.
Thank you VERY MUCH! I hope this works, Diem! If it does, I owe you a beer or two.

[UPDATE] OK, I installed the Flash Player Mobile app this morning, and have tried to view the ComedyCentral videos. FWIW, I still cannot view them. The site still comes up only with links to upgrade my Flash Player wherever a link to a video should be. There does not seem to be any way to DL the flash files to play them locally.
Maybe I'll browse through that second URL left by Diem, and see if I can find anything there that works.
FWIW, I left a Q with Comedy Central, explaining the issue and asking if they would/could do anything to support us users with WM devices ... maybe provide an alternative media format that will work with our devices. I'll post back to this thread if/when I hear back from them.
Also FWIW, I did NOT try to view the URL provided by the OP ... so maybe he's finding success with this app.
Sorry Diem ... no beers for you yet [/UPDATE]
so I am to understand that the flash player that comes with WM6 now is the Macromedia (Adobe) Flash ActiveX 7.0 for Pocket PC, and this mobile version does not rely on ActiveX?
Dont ask me nothing I'm just waiting for a sweet cold Heiniken

Ahhhh, but THAT deal was only good if I got to view Jon on my Hermes. As it didn't work, you'll have to be happy with H2O
So if you want a glass, come on over, I've got a whole tapful
Seriously, I wish Adobe would catch us up with their desktop offerings, or some of these video sites would post in a format we could use.
Oh well ... it is what it is. I've already got plenty of other stuff that works fine, and keeps me using my device for more hours in the day than is good for me.

I don't think the videos shown on the tv links site that I posted have anything to do with Flash. Dapzmob was probably the closest by calling Divx. Hope you guys figure out your Jon Stewart stuff nonetheless.
In anyone knows of a player that can play Divx AND integrates with PIE through a plugin, please let me know!

YouTube app?

Is there an app with integrated browsing and playing of YouTube videos for the Excalibur? Something like the one that comes with the iPhone and T-Mobile G1?
I did have something set up before with TCPMP and some kind of IE plugin, but it just really isn't ideal and was prone to errors. I know I've seen integrated browser/players for touch screen WinMo phones, but I've never seen anything for WinMo Standard.

Wow, Kinoma is really awesome, but it gives me a "Mem full" error every time I try to search for something in YouTube, even though nothing is running in the background.

Reboot fixed it, I'm surprised I hadn't already tried that. This program is brilliant, it is not only a fantastic integrated YouTube browser, but also the best local media player that I've seen for this phone so far. This is awesome.

I tried skybook and mobilizer. neither worked very well. the basics were there but they both have a long way to go. the skybook app always failed to close properly and mobilizer never seemed to open properly.
This is not really an app, but some have suggested using the facebook page for iphone. I believe it is something like iphone.facebook.com or so.
EDIT: Na, I take it back. This certainly won't help you. I just tested the iphone facebook and did not like it. It seems that it uses resolutions for the iphone and everything looks big and blurry on the HD. Besides, that was no really what you were looking for anyway.
Here you go: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=16698519604
If you are going to use Facebook on a PDA, just use "m.facebook.com"... It is a web page obviously, but is formatted better for smaller screens...
Theres one being developed by this very site!

Ah ha, i see your point, which coincidentally brings me to another issue. Can you load on the new Skyfire and see how it performs? http://get.skyfire.com
I'd imagine that on that orgasmic screen it should be a thing of beauty, plus you can Youtube directly in Skyfire. I was Hulu-ing on my 3yr old Treo 700Wx and was amazed. Can't wait for the Sprint version

Aha, got ya.
I'd presume it needs flash then for this to work, which from what I hear about Opera, it doesn't support it yet. Will test Skyfire

Here is an app...but it´s expensive...4,99 € Read the description, it´s in parts in english on this site.
Our app Metro Browser also plays flash video from 'certain' sites. Unfortunately its not yet possible to have a universal solution. One will need a server to figure out the flash video files, which will of course be quite pricy to setup.
