The .NET Compact Framework team has spent the last year planning and developing the next version of the .NET Compact Framework 3.5, which aligns with the .NET Framework 3.5 shipping within Visual Studio 2008 code named “Orcas”. The team has focused its efforts in 4 areas including, addressing core problems of creating distributed mobile applications by enabling mobile devices to interoperate with Windows Communication Foundation services, Implementing device specific features from LINQ, continuing to implement highly requested features and refining NETCF’s ability to diagnose and solve reliability and supportability issues.
New Features Included:
• System.IO.Compression support, including support for HTTP compression.
• Support for a subset of Linq’s Standard Query Operators.
• SoundPlayer support using WaveOut allowing for multiple sounds to play at once.
• New API in Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms for easily distinguishing Smartphone and Pocket PC.
• Allow Nested FuncEval's.
• Enhanced logging for interop functionality with native code.
• Stack Trace Enhancements.
• GAC Improvements.
• Allow for StrongName keys greater than 1024 long.
• To improved logging of finalizer activities to enhance product supportability.
• Allow log files to be read at runtime.
My Trinity WM5 has increased in speed by 40% and under a WM6 by about 20% increase once you uninstall .NET 2.0 and install 3.5.

You can install 3.5 as well if you have space, but otherwise you need to get a Basic Rom without 2.0 included. I have tried 2.0 and 3.5 together on the same device and it is still slow. If you remove 2.0 prior to 3.5 then you will get the increase in performance.

what happens if you don't even have 2.0 to begin with? Any increase in speed with 3.5? Then again, I try to avoid using any programs requiring .net CF 2.0 anyway
Well normally by default I have a .NET CF installed and most apps use it so hence upgrading gives you a speed increase. If you have never installed CF ever then I am unsure of what improvements you will get. Perhaps someone could test this?
Too bad CF 2.0 is built into most/all WM6 factory ROMs. Once we start getting some cooked ROMs for the Sprint Touch, hopefully 2.0 can be replaced with 3.5

The FZLTH.ttf can read CHT
I use CHS and I have not CHT ROM or CHT OEM File.
You can add .net oem file to tommy's kitchen to cook.
BTW: If you can write and read Chinese(CHS or CHT), you can Private Messages to me.

Hi likeme, you've done an excellent job! Your rom is even faster and smoother than the May1 Tommy's rom, mainly, I think, is becasue you have a ramdisk. Where this ramdisk come from? Also after installation, I actually have more storage space left than Tommy's one for my hx2410, about 12.4MB. Again, Great job!

If you want more program ram, You can change this value to change Ramdisk size.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RAMDisk]
"Size"=dword:10 ;This value 10 is 16M,if you want 8M,change it to 8
I can not add more storage space, i don't understand. 64M ROM so small.
But ramdisk just speed up the Internet Explorer,other not obvious.
And i just Chinese localization othe oem file (such as power.exe, bt)。

Watchout! New version cannot revert back to other versions
After installing the new fuller Chinese version, it is not possible to change back to any other versions. My pda is now crippled by this rom. I think, it cannot be updated to any other future rom. Help! It always says "incorrect language" and does not allow further processing.

Your problem not this ROM's problem.
Take your pda to PreBL mode (hold contact+itask+power and then lightly press reset, after about two second unhold remaing buttons).
Run hpRUU.exe in my rar file to flashing ROM to other language.
Or flashing to English.
I can flashing my device to CHS/CHT/ENG version ROM.
Sorry likeme, my mistakes. I did not use the hpruu.exe included in your rar file instead I had used the older hpruu.exe that comes with the Advance Pack. Thanks likeme, you are great! Now I can play around different versions of WM6.1 in different languages! I like the Pocket Calc and the SRS HD included in your new version.

sorry i am if this is a stupid quesiton, but i am looking to upgrading my rom to able to read chinese. i certainly would not mind to have a full chinese system. However, I am knida new to this htc rom stuff, i have a herms htc 8525. Will most of the rom work for the htc system or do i have to find one that is specfifc stated for my system?

i've had it in my v4 ROM for a while now
Just made this version into a Cab file it comes out at 9mb uncompressed cab file that's bad news for device owners like myself with limited space soon i will only be able to fit the os and net cf no room for apps

What's new in this release?
Files, Modules?
In this OEM package there is only a single module (netcfd3m3_5.dll). In the original .NetCF 2.0 and the updated .NetCF 3.5 OEM packages there are six modules. My understanding is that it is better for memory if files are module'd (?) so can any of the other files be converted?

I wanted to cook the NETCF35 into the ROM, ich checked several version´s from XDA forum and also tried to pack my own with cab2pkg.
i deleted old NETCF in SYS and placed NETCF3.5 to it, BuildOS recognize the PKG and it´s marked during the Build Process, after flashing device i installed an app which need CF35 and there it complains about bad install, i checked the reg and there is still the 2.0.xxx.00 under .NETFramework added and no tag about 3.5
i attached my *.rgu
did i miss some additional thing to add ?
Other packages installed fine (opera 10, phm reg....)
