New battery.dll driver with 1% battery level increments - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I couldn't find any info about it here so I think it's worth to mention that no2chem created new battery driver for "Titan" (I think he mean Tytn) it's prepared for kitchen and since I'm not a cook could someone else test it? I think most of us are interested in precise battery measurement
http://www.weienterprises.com/nue/battery.html
Edit: So now this is possible! Thanx to Cmonex and CRCinAU we finally have what we should have out of the box!!! Thank you!!!

My mistake than pity... It would be nice to have it for Tytn.

Ahhh Dam, I was soooo hoping this was true!!

Will it work?
Are we confident that it won't work on Hermes? Is anyone willing to test it out?

Should be ok, needsto be cooked into a ROM though, using the updated ROM tools these dlls should work on ANY device afaik.

FWIW, I installed this on my 8525 (running Faria's R32 6.1) using a CAB installer found on another forum and it did not work - battery meter showed 0% no matter what. Fortunately, I was able to revert simply by uninstalling.
I also tried the original instruction set, using Total Commander, which resulted in the same. Reverting to the original bat dll didn't work for me either so I had to hard reset.
Hope that helps!

The dll needs to be cooked in probably.

So, is any of the chiefs willing to try cooking it it any rom to test if it is working on our hermes?

mrvanx, pardon my ignorance but I can't resist to ask if he successfully replaced the dll (and did a soft reset I presume) and the result is negative, what difference would it make to cook the dll into the rom?

It most likely has to reside in the rom as a physical entity rather than overwriting the file on the flashdisk, since alot of the dlls are linked to parts of the XIP on the device. Many dll replacements have this sort of behaviour (Updated ATi drivers are a good example).

So there is hope I thought all drivers are hardware specific.

so who's willing to cook this in then?! mrvanx?! pretty please?!lol

Just flashed it and nothing. The battery indicator is present in the tray with "!" sign and the charge indicator in the Main Battery app. is missing.
When connecting phone to charger, the led doesn't turn amber and no sings or messages of charging.
Too bad... I liked the idea.
edit:
for those who just flashed this OS, put the phone into boot mode if flashing something else, otherwise you will be getting low batt. warning even though you had it fully charged.

Doh. I was excited about that too - it'd be nice to see

Damn, thats too bad it didnt work for hermes!

Maybe someone should contact no2chem and see if it is possible to do the same for hermes? I'm guessing it's a hexedit? something else? It may well be portable between devices with a bit of effort.

Just downloading it now, how do I remove the current extrom?
I'd like to use either LVSW or Black2 as my base OS then cook my own extrom with all my selected apps and settings for fast and reliable hard resets, is this a relatively simple sate plan or best left well alone?
Is this still in testing or should i replace the wiki entries?

yes, unfortunately, this also means the tadzios toolchain should be avoided.
surely someone can post whether this works or not.

Although, so did the original 26/3 version, AFTER you updated 1.35/1.40 SPL.
Thanks for all your great efforts! this one is perfect and should replace the original that LVSW released

yeah... I had a phone here with 1.40 and I was able to *cause* the whitescreen with a modification, this fixes it.
I believe it's because the extra Hermes data that goes along with the main payload has become corrupted; so what I've done is merged it into one with working Hermes data.
come on! I'm going to keep bumping this till one of you buggers with a whitescreen confirms it works
@Olipro
I had the white screen with both LVSW and Black1.2. Downloading now will test. Im running SPL-1.40 at the moment with RUU_Hermes_QTEK_WWE_2.11.255.1_102_6275_1.38.00.10_108_Ship.exe flashed on after all the WHITENESS!!!

Veeery very good
Don't know about the white screen issues because I've never encountered one before, but I've tried this one besides other LVSW and Black Edition versions. Seems this one is more compatible with SPB Mobile Shell. Hope to hear news about the toolchain error soon and hope Tadzio will fix it ASAP. Ollipro, I don't really care what others complaining about you but I think you're one of the best one here. Please make your own sub-sections for all your tools. Let's say " Ollipro's Hermes Tools" etc.
It works

I will have a look later today, but I seriously doubt that. The whitescreen problem started occuring with LVSW's March 20th ROM, and currently I know of nobody who had problems with my tools before that unfortunate LVSW ROM.
Can anyone who has the whitescreen problem with a ROM based on a version released before March 20th and flashing with an SPL also predating March 20th please let me know?
Anyway, I will make a version that can optionally preserve both the unused space (for Windows Update) and the value of the sector information bytes.
Cheers

HX4700 WM6.1 ROMs

This is finest and most complete collection of 4700 ROMs. For those interested in my SL61V3_lite ROM, the link is:

My best wishes to all who continue development for the 4700.

Thanks for the effort
I tried the untouched pdaviet version but had a couple issues with it, but will try your modified version.
Keyboard is back to looking presentable!!! Thanks algasystems. Hey sanjay I still have the Windows Mobile Lawn boot screen though... It looks the same as the pdaviet rom I think... I'm not gonna reflash back to check but i'm pretty sure.
I guess it's a good thing you started this thread... the vulcan was probably going to loose it any day now.
I'm using the 4700 rom editor for mods, what are you using.
Thanks for saving me the work of cleaning up the rom!!!
Later..
Chemong: I wish you good luck, but don't believe you will find my variation fixes any issues such as battery problems. This is just a cleaner version of the same rom.
MannyMania: Interesting that you are still seeing the lawn. Here's the boot screen I now see. Oh well, at least the keyboard is fixed. I don't intend to do anymore to this since it now is good enough until Kozhura returns but hopefully others will take this and improve it.
I've used Vivi's kitchen in the past, but for simple changes such as these, I just use mamaich's tools directly. I credited Chamine in earlier posts for the boot splash change tips.
Hope this works for you.
Regards.
Just flashed to HX4700 PDAVIET wm6.1 and the keyboard looks familiar to me, thanx.
Ciao
Just a note:
The first time I tried the PDAViet version, I saw the rather undesireable bootsplash. I tried re-flashing the previous WM6.0, which did not un-do the bootsplash.
I found that the only way to get the original blue and white HP bootsplash is to re-flash your device with the official WM5 upgrade. If you don't have the WM5 upgrade, I bet any of the WM2003 ROM update patches will yield the same results (just visit HP's website and search for your device to visit the downloads).

Nice job, Sanjay! I ony had PDAVIet's version installed for a few minutes before I promptly removed it. You have solved every issue I had with their version.
what did i do wrong?
First of all, greetings and thanks to everyone who made WM6 possible on hx4700!
I noticed that my device shows only 54.33 program memory? On your screenshot it shows 100 and something. How to enable this?
Thanks!

Interesting. If people are seeing the PDAVIET splash and I'm not, your explanation may be why. When I reflashed my 4700 with the latest ROM, my previous flash may not have been undone. So thank you for the experiments.
Because of the capabilities of the 4700 (e.g. no phone), I believe this ROM can be made even leaner. I will try to repeat your steps and fix the flash the next time.
Do you think reflashing with a Kozhura WM6 ROM would accomplish the same thing? Even the thought of reverting back to the HP WM5 disaster causes me to shudder.

Thank you Vivi. I've found your kitchen to be excellent as well and a great help for ROM tuning. I also read your tips including ones to remove the RGU files, but PDAVIET already had these deleted so I did not need to remove them. I still feel though that for the 4700 capabilities, there are other files that can be removed to free up more space. I will experiment more to see what I can do with this.

Sanjay

Thanks Sanjay,
rgu files are needed in using ROM Kitchen.
If no rgu files in ROM, no way to re-packages from that ROM and use ROM Kitchen.
I want to try this ROM but I also want to add my favorite programs in this ROM also.If no rgu files, then I have to manually add and edit it.
I am working with WM6.1 ROM for ASUS P525 and fixing WiFi error with no success , so no time to build Hx4700 WM6.1 from scratch.
BTW,thanks.

Interesting theory...flash a standard carrier WM6 ROM...which should use the ext_rom for setup stuff....do some tests and see if that changes anything.
Though i gotta say it seems a bit of a strange conclusion that the ext_rom memory area is draining the battery?!?
Are you running a superstorage ROM then i take it?
I did it on my wizard and my battery life went to 2.5 days with slight use.

So maybe making an ext_rom with zero usage...which can be made with the HTC image editor if i remember correctly....do a quick search for it (or i may have it on file somewhere)..
flash it alongside a standard WM6 ROM (non superstorage)......dont bother booting and then flash the WM6/WM6.1 ROM of your choice?? essentially wiping the unused area of memory with zeros perhaps?
Id like to see the results of this if you do have a go?
Are you superCID? if so then flash a normal WM6 ROM, unlock the ext_rom and delete everything in there, this might do the same thing?
thanks for your help guys, But I don't know what you guys are talking about. I know how to cook my own rom by following noobie proof guides, but I have no idea what i'm doing (like no idea what the steps are actually doing to the rom, but i know what i'm clicking?)
most of the roms i cooked for myself failed and always have some programs missing.
Thanks

It is a 5 minute job to change the header....I don't see what all the fuss is about. Learn how to change the setting yourself and then you can try as many ROM's as you like. It really is simple....it has to be if I was able to do it.
Building a ROM to specifically suit the P3600i is a lot more involved....that is why we have only had 2 Chefs able to do it....
Hopefully you will not find Touchflow 2D etc too draining on resources. Personally I prefer the simple ROM's.

Unfortunately it is trial and error. Some work and some don't as you can see if you look at the P3600i Working ROM's thread.
To be honest I am not sure if the Karmba_a ROM will work as I haven't tried it.
I am not sure it`s work for P3600i, from K`s ROM there is BT problem before,so is there anyone test this version BT is OK??

The cab that is under Mr Smiley in the P3600i Working ROM's thread may fix it....if there is a problem.
Until someone tries it no-one will know.
For me...reading the thread....there are too many issues to even bother.
The ROM I currently use is perfect and while Manilla 2D looks good I don't think it is too functional on Trinities with their limited memory.

No. It's happened only while flashing on approximately 20-30%. Only lines on device screen, but on PC progress bar goes to 100% and device restarted (vibrate). After that I need to remove the battery to start device and it's started normally with flashed rom.

The kitchen does not and can not have any effect on the flashing process, so it must be your device I think...
In the RELEASE folder I've used the original RUU files for flashing... this could be the only thing affecting your device... you can try other tools, but the tools in there where working fine for me

If this would happen to me, I would flash all parts like Radio SPL and OS again... this helped me once with another problem.... but no guarantee from my side...
:/ why hotlink to a forum that requires registration and then acceptance by a moderator? just upload it here...

I think it's my device problem. On flashing other roms the same Flashing full rom didn't help. Maybe flash memory corrupted?

This picture is the standard WM keyboard... not sure if you really mean this one, because it should be in your rom already...
