Hi all, does anybody know if there is an emulator that i can use on my pc for working on cube design before i transfer to my phone, HTC Niki? Sure this has probably been covered before but i'm new to this and can't find a thread so maybe it hasn't?
The closest you'll get is running the Windows Mobile device emulator, and and putting your cube design on that... The emulators are part of the WM5/WM6 SDK, and are quite large... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...F2-F524-4EC5-9155-717CBE5D25ED&displaylang=en
Thanks l3v5y that's really helpful will give it a go

Sorry if it's been posted before, but I haven't seen it on these forums. Found a working version of one of my favorite programs netcat that works on Xperia for any of you who might be interested in network engineering. Was ported from hobbit's original netcat by Andreas Bischoff.
Just copy the celib.dll file into your windows directory. Works a bit better with a separate console utility. I've been using msconsole. Does anyone know of a better console to use? I tried pocketconsole and w32console as well, but wasn't able to get either working properly.
Would love to see a running version of nmap for CE too!
Would this work on the Windows Mobile 6 platform? I'm been trying to get Netcat to work on WinMo for a while, but with no luck.
Hi everyone.
I'm a beginner in Pocket PC / Smartphone development, though i have some (amateur) experience in creating PC apps (Delphi, C++)
So i just need a "kick start" to begin working on PPC apps. Like, a code to make an app that draws a window with "Hello world" and an OK button in it, you know
I've downloaded the SharpDevelop environment, because it looked like the best freeware alternative to Visual Studio. However, i have to admit i've downloaded the 1.x version, as i have a very old computer. But if it's critical, i can try and install 2.x or 3.x.
Anyway, the question is: how do i create a project for Pocket PC / Smartphone? All i see are options to create PC projects... But i saw SharpDevelop in the D&H wiki, so there must be a way to use it for it, right?
Big thanks in advance for answering my very silly question
upd: also, do i need any special device emulators to run the project, or... w/e

It's not a silly question mate - it's a perfectly good one. Unfortunately, I don't think that you can use SharpDevelop to create .Net CF applications easily. The Windows Mobile SDKs come with plenty emulators (to answer your latter question), but they're Microsoft, and therefore they're for Visual Studio. It's really easy with Visual Studio - you just install the SDK and select a smart device as your target when you create a new project. It just works.

However, as far as I'm aware, you can't use VS Express (the free version), as the SDKs only work with full versions of VS. If you can get hold of that, I'd recommend it.
I do remember seeing a website talking about using SharpDevelop with the .Net CF, but it was sketchy and didn't promise it would work. Maybe google a little more to make sure about that, but I'd strongly recommend a copy of VS Professional, if that's an option.
If you are a student, you can get VS2008 for free (www.dreamspark.com)
If you are not a student, you can get VS2010 RC for free (works for another 100 days from today).
I use Sharp Develop to program in C# for my phone, and it works fine.
However, it's possible that smartphones are only supported in version 2 and 3 (I never tried version 1).
In the newer versions, when you start a new solution, there will be an option to start a Compact Framework Project.
Some code that is automatically added when adding controls to your form, will throw errors and will have to be deleted. There is more information on that in the forums at Sharpdevelop.
Good luck!
It depends on what u want to program in. .net c# c++ ect. Tho if i were u i would try and get VS. If your going to do c++ i can provide some examples, but not for anything else xD. GL.
Hi all, there is a new piece of software out released by Sony Corporation which enables and windows laptop or PC to interact with the PS3 via Blue-tooth.
What it does exactly is allow the keyboard and mouse to control the XMB on the PS3 and also the web browser (yes with full mouse and keyboard control from your laptop or PC).
What i was wondering is whether this application could be adapted to work with windows mobile? Could the .exe file be changed to a .cab file so we could install it on our X1? Also I know the X1 doesn't have a mouse, so could we use the optical pad instead?
I know it's probably not as easy as I've put it, but could it be done?
Come On?
150 Views and nothing, not one reply. Isn't anybody interested of is it just a stupid request?
im sorry but i wouldnt be able to help in this matter, but your best bet would be to post this in the general winmo software development section as an app like this should be developed for more than just the x1. the xperia doesnt really have anything unique that other winmo devices dont
just throwing this out there, but you can use the xperia's touch screen itself as a touchpad for the mouse aspect.
Thanks Akay_7, makes sense to put in the General winmo section. Maybe i will have more look there. Thanks again for the advice.

I've Given up searching, i've been at it for about a week. So now i'm gonna ask. Does anyone know where i can find a HTC Windows mobile 6.5 emulator image that contains Sense 2.5? Coz i can't find one and it would make developing my current project so much easier.
Thoughts, links, etc all very appreciated
I would like to get this kind of image too to experiment a bit and continue developing my idea of WM emulation on Android, no matter how stupid that might sound
Wm emulator for Android'd also like to me
If the project goes ahead I can do tester
greetings
Hey everyone. Ive been using windows phone for about 7 months now. And i love it. But there is won glaring problems with the platform. Lack of homebrew support. Particularly in the game emulation section. On android, you can grab a GBA emulator or SNES emulator of the market in about 10 seconds. They even help you find roms. No offense to the current projects, but all we have is a GB emulator and a NES emulator. Im no expert programmer, but is there something about the windows phone that just doesnt allow people to make more advance emulators? I would love to see a GBA emulator on windows phone. Even the iTouch has one. Anybody have some answers?
Well first off, most emulator projects are written in C/C++ making it very hard and tedious to port it to C#/XNA, not to mention the performance loss u get from having to run in a VM and running an interpreted emulator is very CPU intensive. The new devices should help with the speed though.
I suppose you could use Heathcliff74's way to run a modified C/C++ emulator project in a roundabout way, but it's a lot of work to get an emulator up and running on a new platform and it might require a fully interop-unlocked phone.
The WP7 homebrew community is still quite small compared to android/iphone, I'm sure once more people gets on board, u will start to see a lot more emulators.
Just because emulators on android helps u to find roms, doesn't make it legal. Although MS are accepting a lot of legally questionable apps these days.
Just saw a post where Rafael Rivera is decompiling newly released Tango & Spotify. Spotify has native C++ access via SpotifyCore.dll. Hopefully looking as these can get us more and better access.
There is an NES Emulator in Windows Phone Market if you want to try

Comes along with 2 demo and you can add more.
there is an atari emulator that was recently released as well http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/dc8b13c0-a0cc-4a67-87db-7a2f37965b0c
we have put up a page where we will be listing the various windows phone gaming system emulators
