Is there an easy way to back up/restore the Call History (Incoming/Outgoing/Missed Calls)?
Hoping there is a way as simple as backing up/restoring SMS messages.
Thanks a lot
Very easy, use the freeware PPC PIM Backup. You can search this forum or download it from here.

Carty..
Just noticed that you were asking for a smartphone, not sure if that version works.. Try anyway..

I did a quick search beforehand but didn't really find any results. Is there any way of backing up text messages before I upgrade to WM6? I've got around 3k on my Orbit at the moment and my girlfriend doesn't want me to lose them all. I'll looked everywhere on the filesystem but couldn't find them for love nor money! Any help is appreciated.

Your search wasn't good enough....
PPCPimBackup (DL linked to this thread) or SMSBackup does the job.
IMO PPCPIMBackup is the best, you can backup everything (Contacts, Mail, SMS, MMS, Call-logs....), works great. I use it often...
Thanks a bunch, will try it out!

Is there a program finally that is able to backup WM 6.1? If so, where can we find it?
it depends what you want to backup
Other then tha basic pics, music, stuff like that.
What can we backup?
*Asking as a noob cause I'm sure there are people out there, that are not informed on what really can be backuped.*

sprite backup works. now i havent tried a restore from the file it created, but i have sprite backup V6.1.0 build 2192 and creating the backup file works, so i assume the restore works too.
for example i backup the contact and the sms.... if you have wm 6.1 you can use sms pack to backup the sms... look it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378344
Sweet thanks and Sprite restore would, restore what?

How to backup SMS in HTC messaging
pim backup
This freeware enables backup of diary, contacts, messages etc:

Hi,
i use Microsoft MyPhone is best at the moment.
with friendly greet

You can also use MobileArchiver to save your messages and incoming/outgoing calls in outlook. I don't think you can restore them to the phone though.
Thanks everybone !
In fact, there was a bug when I restore my last PimBackup save and the program didn't restore my SMS. But I do it again and everyting's OK.
During a couple of minutes, I think that HTC messaging doesn't store message at the same place.
Thanks you again for your help.
THREAD CLOSED !
thanks for all the help guys...just got my touch hd and was wondering about this too
Definitely: Microsoft MyPhone
Works with no problems. Not restores but also synchronizes. I had problems with PIM backup restoring SMS messages. And Microsoft MyPhone never failed.
Thanks to Dutty for removing PIM Backup from his ROMs
Used PimBackup before with no problems (buggy on Windows Mobile 6.5 roms however), but Microsoft MyPhone seems to work much better and faster in my opinion.
I'm aware that the new stock TM Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade has a program on it called Mobile Backup. On the ROM I'm using now I have PIM Backup. Specifically what I'm looking for is how to backup email settings without having to do it every time I flash the device. I'm also there are ways to create your own cabs, I assume XML; but I am far from having the expertise to do this from scratch myself. I get that most of these programs will save my contacts, messages themselves but it is the settings itself though I'm a reasonable guy if a program does it all I'm not going to complain; any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Does MS MyPhone backup and restore the registry and all the files? Can it replace Sprite or SPB Bakcup?
Good RSS Reader
Have spent the last hour looking for a good mobile RSS reader. What does anyone suggest?

No, it just backs up contacts, call logs, sms's, pics and music. Even if you use sprite or spb (those are the best options for backup), I would still let myphone do a nightly backup of your stuff, it's a great way to help keep the number of SMS messages on your phone from swelling.
