Howd'y just got a new Jasjam Spl is 2.03 how do I go about flashing my rom as the RUU doesn't have my SPl in it ??? Basically I want to updat to CRC's latest
Do some more homework first dude, you dont wanna end up with a paperweight......ALWAYS make sure you have flashed HardSPL before you do ANYTHING.
Take a peek here about what to do: Flashing HardSPL. Then flash away with any ROM you please.
Done a lot of lookin but everything I look at doesn't state anything about the 2.03 version all I want to do is U/grade to CRC's Cooked version, is there a how to incl 2.03 ???? I can't find one

seriously....you DO NOT need/want to be using SPL 2.03....you are increasing the risk of bricking your device...flash hardspl 2.10 to your device then just flash CRCs rom using the utility included with it.
Follow the guide i posted earlier to make your device safe to flash then look in CRCs thread for the files you need to run the ROM.
Bongo333, listen to MrVanx.... You asked the question and he's giving you his expert opinion... Listen to his experience cos god knows his guides have helped me out a lot of times...We don't wanna be answering questions tomorrow about how to unbrick your hermes. Its easier if you listen to experience and have a good time upgading your hermes as we won't knowingly steer you wrong..
Cheers
Do you know how I can get back to SPL 2.03? as I'm having troubles with my Jasjam, and it's not related to various ROMs etc. and I want to take it back to Telstra, but I know that if it has my current SPL version (SPL-1.10Oli) it will be rejected.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've gone through that, but that only gets you to SPL 1.06, which (I'm not sure really) is an older version which wouldn't be recognised by Telstra as genuine?
Thats fine thats a retail one.
You can go to 1.04

I looked around and did not see a clear answer to the question of reverting/flashing back to WM5 if desired after flashing one of these WM6 ROMS.
Does anyone know where I can find the answer?
Thanks in advance.
I too have looked around but haven't asked for fear of being flamed. The gurus think that we should be able to pick up on all the lingo and have a clear understanding of what everything means.
I am looking for a way to go back to a shipped ROM from anything after flashing SPL 1.11 in case I need to warranty exchange my Cingular 8525. I have yet to figure out how to do it.

Yes. You can go back to WM5 from WM6. I have done it before with no problems. Your answer is once again yes!
I will not flame you but look harder.

once You go black (2.5 ), You will never go back...
hi there
first of all, I am no expert in the ROM related knowledge, but i did go back to WM5 from WM6 recently. The reason I have gone back to WM5 it is because I am suspecting the Chinese viewer (CE-Star) that i used does not work good in any flavor of WM6, it causes frequent lock-ups in WM6 that makes my phone pretty much unusable.
Besides, i don't mind to share my experience for downgrading to WM5, the following is my up and down sequence.
1. upgrade from Dopod WM5 rom to WM6 cooked rom
2. upgrade to SPL 1.40
3. upgrade radio to 1.38.00.11
4. upgrade radio to 1.40.30.00
5. upgrade to SPL 2.10
6. downgrade SPL from 2.10 to 1.40
7. downgrade from WM5 Rom (It is some sort of HTC Standard WM5 Rom that my friend gave me, and my radio has gone back to 1.38.00.10 as the ROM comes with it.
8. upgrade to SPL 2.10
9. upgrade to Radio 1.40.30.00
Also, you may check out mrvanx's guide for downgrading to WM5 here.

actually... i'm on black 2.5 and thinking of going back... too many apps are wiggin out on wm6
I actually just did it. I was running the latest version of HardSPL, flashed to the new ATT ROM, and then created a updater to flash the SPL to the ATT spl.
Wasn't hard, and only took a few minutes. So, as of right now, my phone is running the new ATT ROM, and if I need to warranty it, I'm all set.
in the wiki it mentions..
If your vendor has released you original rom as a shipped upgrade, you just need to flash it.
If your vendor has not released any ROM upgrade yet, you cannot fall back to original ROM easily. You'll have to reconstruct the ROM out of a dumped ROM.

I'm using 838pro, what about the ROM which available to download from the dopod company website.
does it safe to just flash from it or do I need to repackage the ROM..?
thank you.

if you only want to read chinese, but not input, there is an alternative to it. look for a cab which is named 'sunglobe.ttf register patch'.
Maybe the easiest way
First thing I would want to do is to Flash the unit to what is known as a "Hard SPL". For some reason it makes all the other flash work go a lot more smoothly. You can get instructions and software for that at:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php...ask=view&id=40&Itemid=26&limit=1&limitstart=2
Once that is done, and it should take about 5-10 minutes depending upon the speed of your computer and USB connection, you can load whatever OS rom you desire.
You can get a carrier agreeable rom from the Cingular/ATT site:
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8525/software-downloads.html
Or, and this should work, just link directly to the rob by clicking:
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/d...R_WWE_2.15.502.3_6275_1.40.30.00_108_Ship.exe
This should leave you at the latest and greatest of the WM5 packages from Cingular/ATT, and all should be well. And . . . if it hozes . . . which it should not, you should have no warrantee issues since you were trying to flash the upgrade that THEY were providing you. :-D

ROMs from Dopod HK or Singapore are very old ones. The SPL is 1.04. You may not be able to flash backward if you are with HardSPL v7. Also if your radio ROM is newer than 1.27, you may face problem when you flash the original (as it is packed with an old radio rom).
(Please correct me if I am wrong.)
To play safe, follow mrvanx' guide:

After some readings and I have managed to used dutty's tool to recompiled the Dopod's WM5 English rom from the original Dopod shipped rom.
This rom has OS + Extended Rom ONLY.
No IPL, No SPL, No Radio.
I have tested and it works on my Hermes, and Bootloader and Radio stay as is. Please note your result may vary.
Here's the download link
http://rapidshare.com/files/29500131/WM5_Dopod_1.30.707.4__Huchison_3_AU__OS_ExtRom_only.7z
To play safe, I would suggest you to do the following prior flashing the OS rom.
1. Flash boot loader to Hard-SPL-V7
2. Flash your radio rom to 1.38. or 1.40

Hi Guys,
I have an MDA Vario II on T-Mobile UK. I Understand (I think) the reasons that you guys use HardSPL and Super CID etc but I have a simple query.
I have downloaded the HTC WWE Rom from the links here on this site. Do I have to bother with the normal runaround (HardSPL / Super CID) as this is an "official" update for the hermes ?
I do not intend to use my Hermes with A.n.other provider just T-Mobile. Will I have to do anything special ?
Before you flame me (Somebody will be tempted I am sure) I have read and re-read the forums here, but they all seem to point that the steps like Hardspl and SuperCID are necessary only if applying cooked roms !?!
yes no matter what just cid unlock and get hard spl v7 so you cant brick your hermes

Thanks for the prompt response, I am still confused though. I assumed I didn't have to worry about bricking if I was using the official HTC Rom?
Also I read that HardSPL7 would meant the HTC Rom didn't work and I would have to go with a cooked ROM, in which case I might as well just go Schapps or something. I would like to just go with the basic WM6 ROM HTC provide and tweak it with software. No offence to any of the chefs here of course, but I don't think I need anything fancy.
nuthing will work aprt from the stocck t-mobile rom so you hav to cid and hard spl i got vario 2 aswell and it will not brick if you do these things
than you can flash any rom
Ok Cool. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know how it turns out.

You don't need to do a CID unlock if you apply Hard SPL V7. Hard SPL will make your device think that is SuperCID. You need only SIM unlock if you're going to use other than T-Mobile network.
Cheers
Ever since I joined this site several months back, I've been flashing cooked ROMs non-stop with limited success in terms of telephone stability and usability. If I were to flash the official release, I would be stuck with Bootloader 1.08 which I understand makes further flashing difficult, if at all possible.
What I would like to do is try and flash the official WM6 OS from Cingular while still retaining my hard SPL boot loader, radio, etc. I looked at NBH Extract, Kitchens and really couldn't figure anything out.
Would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction on how to just flash the OS portion of the Official ROM release.
On this guide you will find the tools and the "how" to do what you want.
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=41&Itemid=27
The difference is that you will not download a WM5 Rom but the WM6 Cingular Rom and will make the one that you need. For sure OS , ExtRom, Spashes and no radio because you want to keep the same. After you compile the new modified nbh and you upgrade with Hard SPL 2.10 olipro as you did with custom ROMS.
I wish I helped.Good Luck
Thanks
Thanks a lot! I will give it a shot and let you know. Now you mentioned that this will keep my Radio the same as is now, but will this also leave my Olipro 2.10 in tact so that I can do further flashing later?
As long you dont choose IPL and SPL when making the new nbh,yes . Just what mrvanx says. This is because you wont have spl or ipl to new nbh so they wont be flashed to your device. You even can not to choose splashes if you want to keep your own you have now.
Only what "nb" you choose will be flashed to the device.
Thanks Again

Hi everybody. I as probally most of u have a Diamond. I've been reading freaqently about Hardspl roms and such since it seems to make your diamond alot faster and better I would like to update/change my rom. As I understand HardSPL is usefull in the way that you can't brick your phone with rom flashing once you have HardSPL flashed. Am I right?
Then there is the choice of hardSPL. I've been looking at OliNex's unsigned 1.40 and OliNex signed 1.38. It seems signed is safer but Unsigned is more open, since you can flash any rom at all. I'm not real sure which one to get since I don't really know what rom seems most suitable for me.
I'm looking for a fast rom, ofcourse, most preferbly a swedish rom but I can survive with english as long as it's possible to get swedish (full and compact) QWERTY. Any suggestions on what rom I should use?
Then Radio I have kind of no idea what that is, can someone explain that real quick?
I guess i'm not the first of making this kindof thread, but please help a guy out. Thanks alot for all hard work so many of you put in to make the diamond more usefull!
Also it would be nice to be able to restore the diamond back to it's original spl and rom for warranty reasons. I have the vers and all written up. I've been looking at swifts rom, and duttys. Are those to recommend and what kind of HardSPL would I have to use to get either of them?

hi guys
as you can see im a total noob to the forums and to updating ROMs on the diamond
my htc diamond is running rom version
version: 1.37.707.1 WWE
date: 06/10/08
radio version: 1.00.25.03
protocol version: 52.26a.25.09H
i find that phone lags a bit and slows down especially when im unlocking with my password.
it also lags a bit when im activating the keyboard to write a sms..
so i guess i was hoping somebody could guide me in the right direction to get the latest rom update, and how do i do it.
i can see there are some custom roms around...so i have no idea whats the best way to proceed..
ive tried to download the latest rom update from the HTC site but it says that my device is not supported?
i dunno, cause i entered in the serial number located under the battery...
so im hoping somebody here can help me out..
thanks!
subs.
More info...
What's your diamond model number? It's under the battery.
You should look into HardSPL and then check out the official ROM's and Cooked ROM's and make a decision on which one you want to flash your phone with. Read the forum's and how-to's for more info...but first you should work out what version of the diamond you have before you go looking for ROM's...also, always HardSPL before you flash!
Good luck.
under the battery it says
HTC P3700 DIAM100
is that what you are referring to?

yeah, ive been reading that and im slowly starting to understand what i have to do...
i would like to do this rom update on my phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=423418
so from what i understand i first have to install a unsigned hardspl, any recommendations on which version i should use?
1.23
1.24 or
1.34 ?
i was going to use 1.24 only because i saw somebody post saying they used it and had no problems, but if i should use one of the other ones because it will work better then please let me know.
after doing the hardspl install i was going to backup all my contacts and then do the rom update.
am i missing any steps?
do i have to do a radio update before a rom update?
I use HardSPL 1.40 and had no problems so far so I havent updated it to 1.93.
I would recommend one of the new roms 2.03 (official or cooked, it depends on what you'd like ).

Install hardspl 1.40 or 1.93 (I use 1.93, but didn't have problems in the short time I used 1.40) hardspl and then install any rom you like. Just try to read as much as you can because chances are, any question you have, someone else has had it and it's on the board for you to read.
ok cool, i will install hardspl 1.40 and then that rom i mentioned
at the moment i dont have any questions, i will follow that thread that explains how to update roms and hope for the best

if you brick your phone, the only option left is to claim warranty.
And i believe the only step that could possibly brick your phone is flashing HardSPL, right guys?
I was in the same state of anxiety when I did my first ROM flashing. Thankfully it all went smoothly.
My 2 cents :
1, Think about what you are gaining by a ROM upgrade. If your phone is working well out of the box and your routine functions are satisfied, you are well off with you stock ROM. I flashed a couple of ROMs and now I am with my stock and I am perfectly fine.
2, Read this -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211 and this -> http://www.modmydiamond.info/ And if you understand every single letter of it only proceed.
Happy flashing
i have a diam100. can i flash it to a WWE dutty rom?
thanks for all the help guys, but i decided to flash my htc with the original rom from the htc site.
for the moment it runs like a dream and has fixed all my lag issues.
so im gonna stick with that....for the moment
It's important that you feel comfortable crossing over......but I have to say, when you decide to cross, it's an exhilarating feeling to know that you can select what ever Rom from, what I think are, top notch chiefs here but also the fun continues by selecting which ever Radio.
Many post on here that say, "I bricked my phone," truly didn't brick anything. They just hit a wall so they panic. Hard SPL really does a good job. So the chances of your bricking this device is not as high as some people think..
