Is there any way to move messages (SMSs) from the Nokia N73 to HERMES WM 6.1 ?
Can't you just bluetooth them across?
WB
Thanks, but there's no bluetooth option under messages to use??!!
I know very little about the Nokia; however if you are able to connect it to a pc so that you can transfer files to and from it then search on the internet for a tool that will backup your SMS as individual text files.
Once done, import these into your Hermes and store them as text files. If you want to reuse the content just copy and paste into a new SMS.
I had to do this a while back when I moved from a Sony P900 to my TyTN. Worked a treat.
Hope this helps.

Is there anyway I can move my txt messeges to my new xda2?
maybe the export tool ?
http://www.yorch.net/apps.htm
Can't seem to get it to work, The program installed fine but when I open it I don't see any of my messeges, any way of getting my messeges to appear in the program?!....or any other programs that will let me export and move my inbox to a xda2
What are the differences between Xbackup and the backup program in Activesync? I am familiar with the one included in Activesync.
What I really want is something like Ghost for a desktop - something where I can screw with the registry or programs and if I mess something up I can just install that "image" and have everything fixed and like it was before. Can either of these do that?
I think your best bet is to pick-up Sprite Backup. It images your entire device into a self-extracting EXE file that you can store on a memory card.
It can also be used to save your programs and other files between software upgrades. A very handy program!

Where do I get it? How much does it cost, if anything? Any other tips in its installation or use? Anyone else have any comments or thoughts?
Just remember that these types of backup can not be restored when you do a ROM upgrade.
I use WebIS Mail and store all my emails on the unit's internal storage card. I still have not found a way to back up all my sms and mms messages. So on every full reinstall or ROM upgrade, I loose all my sms and mms messages . The only app I have used to back up my text messages is Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook. However, it does slow down Outlook when you open it.
I guess I would like something that allows me to store a file on my SD card that I can re-install if I were to have trouble out and about, as it were.
Tell me more about this Jeyo Mobile Extender. What does it do?
As for backing up SMS and MMS messages can't you (and this is just theory, I have not tried it yet) move all messages in your SMS or MMS inboxs to your Outlook inbox and then sync up and move them into your inbox in Outlook on your desktop and then reverse the process to put them back in?

Google: Jeyo Mobile Extender
It's a valid theory, but I'm looking for an application that will backup my mms and sms files real time via wifi or usb. Jeyo Mobile Extender still doesn't have the option to sync via wifi. At least I have not gotten it to work properly. Syncing via USB works like a charm though.
Is there a way to store the hole Pocket Outlook Data on an Memeorycard in a PPC (not only the Attachmnets)? My Mails, Contacts ... are that big, that i have not enough internal memory on HTC TyTN .
I found this in an german forum:
Create the folders on your Storage Card '\Storage Card\Inbox' and the subfolder '\Attachments'
Import the registry keys as below. (try Registry Workshop and you can connect to Mobile device registries from your PC and import reg files. This saves having a Registry editor installed on the phone and typing on the device). If you are entering these keys manually rather than importing a *.reg file only use single slashes for the paths. Restart your device after doing this.
CODE
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MAPI]
"AttachPath"="\\Storage Card\\Inbox\\Attachments"
"PropertyPath"="\\Storage Card\\Inbox"
This not only puts email attachments onto your storage card but puts all the *.mpb files which make up items in your Inbox onto the storage card too. This means I now sync the last month of complete emails (1362 of them!) from all folders on my Exchange server and it doesn't make a dent in the phone memory.
My TyTN is in the moment in service, so could not test it - has anybody experience with that topic?
Cheers
Michael
Does this also work for SMS messages as I am trying to migrate from PPC 2003 to WM5 on a new machine
Thanks

Any news on whether this worked for you?
If so was it just for pocket outlook or did it work for other mailboxes as well?
Thanks,

Hello,
I recently updated to WM6.1 on my Dash (Thanks Mikey1022, Kavana, Ricky, NRGZ28, and Stylez). Before I updated from WM 6 to 6.1, I used dashwire to backup all my phone's contents (which it did without any issue). When I restored the contents, I got back the contacts, pictures, and video, but the SMS messages uploaded were not sync'd back down to the phone. I would imagine this is a 'feature', but after googling/forum searching, I was not able to find a way to put my old messages back on the phone, either through dashwire itself or otherwise (maybe putting them into some sort of text file, etc).
Thoughts on this? Any help would be appreciated.

Update
If anyone was wondering, I sent an email to dashwire support, and what they sent back is below.
Cheers.

Thanks for your inquiry.
Dashwire will help you transfer your contacts, bookmarks, and speed dials from one phone to the next, but unfortunately does not currently enable you to move the other items that are backed up and accessible on the web to your phone. We're hoping to transfer items like text messages in the future, but for now do not support this.
Sorry about that.
