Thanks in advance for your help.

Orange SPV M5000 - Want to remove the Orange Today Bar

Can anyone tell me how to get the today screen back to the normal windows pocket pc today screen. Orange has put that bar of theirs on the left side of the screen. I have tried a few things to overide it but then it comes back up on the screen. How can I remove it or disable it.....
I want to use some pocket pc programs for the today screen but this orange bar overides the program.
cheers

What have you tried to remove it?
Presumably it's not shown in Settings > Personal > Today?
And \windows\start up?
V
Correct it does not work to disable the Orange Shortcuts Symbols on the Home Screen. I have in the shortcuts Contacts, Phone, Messaging, Calendar, Camera Expert Mode, Orange World on the Shortcuts Bar. I want to completely deactivate or remove it from the HTC. The problem I find is that if you go in the settings menu for today you cannot remove it.
Also when I did a hard reset the first time the screen was like it shows in the Windows Pocket PC Manual with the today screen. Orange seems to have put the overide settings in the rom of the unit when you boot-up the unit to show their tool bar symbols on the today screen.
I would like a an suggestion or fix in getting this removed since if I uses as a example a pocket PC battery program I can have full use of the program on my today screen. Currently the Orange seeting overide these setting to there own.

The Dragon UK
Tried a hard reset again and went into the today settings. well this time it worked. I quess there was a lockup somwhere in the software. Question is in the items section what is the today timeout check box used for?
The DragonUK
Not sure I understand you but if you want to get rid of the Homescreen as Orange calls it go to:
Settings -> Today -> Appearance
and choose the Windows Default theme.
That will give you the standard windows start page.
If you do a search on these forums you will find most of the answers you need, it saves opening new threads all the time.

try battery status it has something like a system tray in windows, not sure if that fits your needs but I find it very useful on a wizard. For a Hermes the internal keyboard has a key combo for wireless, I think the same could have been done for bluetooth and beaming as well, but disappointed to see those missing.
There is, I've seen it in S64 ROM, I belive it's ported from Diamond. And buttons are big enaugh to be easily pressed with finger.
I think this is the third thread on this same question
Anyways, it's a lazy sunday here and i have nothing better to do!
I use effcomm

5 direct questions about TF3D

Dear all,
Have been searching the forums for a couple of days now, but to not much avail. I've got my TP2 configured just nicely with the 1% battery meter, (A)GPS tweaks etc but a few other things I just cannot figure out and hope you can all help me out.
Registry tweaking etc is fine, just so long as I can do what I need to. I'm using an unbranded European GSM TP2 bought just the other day.
1. On the "Quick List" menu; which I get into by holding down the red/end button, I can turn data sessions/flight mode etc on or off, or the vibrate function. How can I change what options are displayed in this menu?
2. How can I activate/achieve in-call recording (there's fragments of this on the board but no real definitive answer I can see).
3. While I use SPB Menu 3.0.1, when I go into the phone dialler, the "Contacts" soft key in the bottom left doesn't work. I think it's because I have TF3D disabled and SPB Menu instead, but can I remap this back to the default, original Microsoft contacts app which I prefer?
4. How can I keep WiFi switched on while the screen is off (seen a couple of apps I think to achieve this, a nice switchable app would be great).
5. How to (on SPB Menu 3.0.1) change the default contacts app away from the built-in SPB contact menu which is awful, and back to the default Microsoft one?
Finally, I share everyone's frustration about the lack of Bluetooth voice dialling. Having mailed HTC and gotten no decent reply back, I'm as annoyed as the next person... but I think the 6.5 ROM release from HTC if/when it appears will fix things up from "reading between the lines" of some of the replies from HTC I received.
Thanks all in advance,
Adam.

modify "\Windows\Long_End.lnk". let it point to an application that shows something else.

by default wifi is on when only the screen is off. if the device is in standby wifi also turns off. to change this set:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms]
"HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms]
"HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended"=dword:00000001
Dear all,
mastermarv, thanks for the reply.
You said "modify "\Windows\Long_End.lnk". let it point to an application that shows something else."
-- Any ideas of an application that produces a menu similar to the TP2 Quick List menu, but with different, modifiable options?
Anyone any ideas on questions 3 and 5?
Thanks again everyone for a great community!
Adam.
Hey everyone,
Just in case anyone else searches and sees this, I've got an udpate:

Anyone else having a problem accessing Contacts from the default Dialler or Phone Screen should remove SPB Menu 3.0.1 and go back to version 2.1.5 or keep using TouchFlo instead. There's no word from SPB on their website as to a timescale for a fix on this and it's a total deal breaker for me, not being able to access standard Contacts list/menu or choose mobile/work/home/etc from a contact in that list!

Battery indicator twice on the top bar

Hi,
I have the Battery Indicator twice on the top bar. can anyone tell me how to get rid of one of them.

Did you install SPB Pocket Plus? If so, you need to disable the "Battery Indicator" function in SPB Pocket Plus settings.
I did, I'll try this. thanks very much

Question about keyboard behaviour (HTC Touch Input for Pocket PC v2.1)

I've been playing with my new Touch Pro 2 for a couple of days. Very nice device, but like any new technological tool it's taking some time to learn my way around.
There are two silly little things about the software keyboard (Touch Input for Pocket PC v2.1) that are driving me insane:
Firstly, it gives a little vibration feedback with each keypress that, for the life of me I cannot figure out how to turn off.
Secondly, I cannot work out how to make the keyboard drop down and disappear - with my old TytnII pressing the little keyboard icon on the screen would drop away the keyboard, but now it brings up a menu page (and there's no menu option either!).
I'd really appreciate some help on these two things - I'm sure it will turn out to be something painfully obviouse!!!
Thanks!
Solution to 1 problem!
Just in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation, the keyboard can be dropped down again by pressing the keyboard icon on the middle-bottom of the screen BUT it must be pressed on the left side of the icon in Windows 6.5.5. (If you press the right side of the icon you get the menu options - I think this is a result of the old option arrow being hidden under the keyboard icon in 6.5.5 ROMs).
Still no solution to turning off the vibration. I now think it's an error (one of many) in the cooked ROM as the menu item seems to be just missing!
...and solved the other problem
again, just posting this in case anyone reads this thread later in hope of answers!
So, it seems some smart cookie at HTC decided weshould be allowed to turn off the keyboard vibrations (we clearly can't be trusted with such important decisions!) so there is no way to do it from the menus.
Luckily Miri developed a tool to control this on the HD2, and from my initial trial of the disabling cab on the touch pro 2, it seems to work.
