Orb Streaming Video - HTC Excalibur

Ok, so I just upgraded to Ricky's rom (wonderful!). All is well and good.. But i'm experiencing the same video problem I was on WM6. I am simply trying to stream video through Orb.. But I get no video, only sound.
Now, I have copied the dll's for the decoder and restarted my phone. Still, I get no video. TCPMP is the same (rc81).
Am I missing a step?
Thanks for the help!
Nick

disregard
plz disregard.. figured out that its an issue with codecs on my home box, they have decided to stream in black... Woops!

Slingbox, Orb, Lobster, FlashVideoBundle and Streams4pda All Works Perfect

I use the RC81 TCPMP/Player beefed up codecs version with extra codecs and Orb, SlingBox, Lobster, FlashVideoBundle. Streams4pda (Global TV) all works like a charm with Ricky's (17) version ROM. I have no problem connecting back to my home PC with any of my mobile devices.....!

this was one of the coolest features i've found thanks to this thread, i can monitor my entire house through web cams, and watch it all on my phone.

What program can i use to watch youtube or divx on my dash, and where can i get it? THX Sorry Newb..

This program it's better than vTap posted here at Xda-developers?
I never tried vTap but with this program, you install it, you go on real youtube (www.youtube.com) search like you would on your computer and when you click the video it launches the TCPMP media player automatically and it plays.
I downloaded and tried it but it doesn't seem to trigger Core to open.
I am using the core player. Must I be using the old one core player and not this new edition?
During the installation of Flashvideobundle.cab I keep "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions"
Not sure why I had my phone all unlocked thru imei-check.co.uk ..
Any pointers .. Thanks

Great, thank you. This version: v1.4.2, works perfect on my i-mate SP3i .
But v1.4.3 can't run on my gadget!

Or you can go to www.mobytube.net on your device, you can also download in flv faster than from YouTube.

Go to my thread and get the video tools that will fix your YouTube Screaming Problem, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362685. Install TCPMP/Player 0.81RC1 and the FlashVideoBundle.cab latest Version both to your {SD Card, Soft Reset Your Device}! Next install the Codecs Plugin Zip Pak to your {SD Card, Soft Reset Your Device}, no shorts cuts. The YouTubePlayer.cab is exclusive for pocketPC device ONLY. If you still have YouTube streaming problems get back with me, have fun dude.......!
Technology rocks!!!
The only thing that can better the feeling of "Eureka!! It works!" is the feeling of "Didn't I tell you this will work?".
Technology rocks!! Pun intended Thank you so much Technology!! The problem of tcpmp getting stuck is now resolved. Earlier, I had tried 0.81 tcpmp and 1.4.4 flash bundle, but without the codecs folder. It was those bunch of codecs that you mentioned that solved the problem
Thank you so much!!!!!
Initially I thought it was ATT Cingular that was blocking my youtube traffic after 1 minute, since I was overloading their network. So I went to the extent of setting up a squid proxy on my fedora desktop (on 6Mbps cable line), and pointing my WM6 proxy to this machine instead of cingular.wireless.com:80 proxy. I thought, perhaps the proxy has some rate limiting module. But even with my squid proxy, the stream would halt after 1 min. That meant the player was having trouble streaming, and it wasn't the network. Debugging is fun. Only nerds can appreciate it
Greatly indebted to you and zbob.

Can the Artemis read/play 3GP extension files?

I had posted this in another thread but only one reply was wondering if it may be WM6 related. A friend with a nokia phone sent me a couple of MMS video files but when I open them up they are blank. But they have an extension of 3GP. Does anyone know if the Artemis will read these by default or TCPMP play them. I have loaded Meshles rom is there any problems with this rom playing these type of files? Do you need to convert these firstly. If so to what format? The last one that was sent did not work but I then received a txt msg from ‘O2’ which informed me that:
“You have been sent a media message from nnnn that your mobile doesn’t support. View it at www.O2.uk/M by typing in your mobile number and pin”
Ay advice appreciated...cheers JD76...
I'm using Meschle's 3.01 rom, windows media player plays 3gp, but jerky, TCMP plays it full speed.
Hope that helps
thanks Kaigame...any other help/advice...cheers jd
Yep, TCMP, or download the trial of CorePlayer form coreplayer.com.
Can't say anymore really more, as TT says.....
The Core Media Player plays them fine, i saw your post, downloaded a 3gp file and tried it, i don't really use my phone for video yet

Coreplayer/TCMP is the only player I've found that reliably plays video, and it's also the only player that handles A2DP bluetooth streaming properly.

Two months ... No new Base ROM Build

It is almost 2 months since Kavana sent us 080408. While Rick has given us many refreshes of content since, we are still on the same build of the WM 6.1 OS.
Judging from the frequency of updates for various PPCs and PPC Phones, and the lack of them for Smartphones such as the S620, it must be very difficult to get your hands on a Smartphone ROM.
Is there any likelihood of an update soon ?

Have you installed programs such as: TCPMP, CorePlayer, or the HTC Streaming Media Player? Each of these will play streaming vids (such as YouTube). As a matter of fact, Technology has posted several codecs in one of his threads which accompanies the TCPMP player. Last night, I watched a video on YouTube (via Excalibur) which was an uncanny resemblance to the quality on my PC! Crystal clear.

I see that you have mastered my picture pixel crystall clear video resoluton quality technology via the codecs pak for the 320X240 Screen(LCD Blue-ray HD)(LOL). You are the man, I know it works like a charm, now tell the other 50,000,000 people that, glad it works for you....!
Excalibur Screen 320X240 LCD QVEGA
With the Excalibur screen the video enhancement is unlimited with the LCD structure, thats why you are getting the super enhance video resolution quality, it accepts a digital signal better than a lot more expense device like the "Tilt"! Now to prove my point go to http://mobile.ardcorp.tv, this company broadcast in a high digital video quality for mobile devices (They Even Call It HDTV). This company offer the highest video resolution resolution quality for the Excalibur and several other devices. That's why I will never ever argue with people that will say, this is the highest video resolution you get for the Excalibur 320X240 screen, not true, that is a false statement as you can see for yourself...............!

Sorry for the delay, Solja! Tech will definitely point you in the right direction as to what to download from his threads. I've personally found TCPMP to be the best grade of quality when viewing streaming video (with the codecs in the thread I mentioned earlier). I didn't think it was possible for video to be as clear (and uninterrupted) on the Excalibur. I was using EDGE, mind you! lol Imagine what kind of quality a Wi-Fi connection would provide!

I don't know if this'll help or not...but have you downloaded the FlashVideoBundle? It's a bunch of codecs which basically boost the resolution and quality on your TCPMP player. There's a thread on page 2 or 3 which has the download.
Also, what type of video files are you trying to play?
I have everything installed on the Excalibur. I know now that the problem is the videos i put on the card were not converted. Right now i just need a program to convert my avi to something playable on the dash.
winavi mp4 converter
one is the winavi mp4 converter and in my opinion it is the best.. it will convert it into 3gp, psp, ipod and mp4
pocket divx encoder is great! it will even allow you to stretch the images horizontally & or vertically so if its a very widescreen movie you're watching, you can stretch it to fill the entire screen if you want

The very best media player

hi,
i'm looking for an awesome media (video) player for my phone.
i'm looking for a good video player that can play a lot of different file formats.
avi, mpg, mpeg, mp4, wmv, etc.etc.
on my laptop i use VLC, and i really love it.
but i can't find a mobile version of VLC.
anybody has a clue for an awesome videoplayer for my phone?
The latest version of TCPMP plays a whole slew of formats. If you want a media player with alot of functionality, Kinoma Player (shareware) has many different functions. Not sure all the formats it plays.
There's Core Player, a branch of TCPMP that is a pretty smooth video player as well. Finally, DivX has an app for WinMo as well, so you could give that a try.
tcpmp and core player are the best on my opinion
i've looked up tcpmp on the web, and found a page about it on http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-tcpmp-v0-72rc1.html but it doesn't seem to be the right one.
when i instal the cab, the program says on startup "unexpected program error, send crash.txt to the developers......".
so it doesn't run on my pocket pc.
i tought i found the tcpmp website with http://coreplayer.com/ but it costs me 24 bucks.
the free version is very difficult to find.
any ideas?
i found yet another release on this forum.
that one seems to be working a bit....
but the movie quality sucks big time.
the sound is on and off all the time.
the picture is shocking...
it's looks like the phone has to work really hard to let me see half a second each time.
it's like:
the audio........... is not .......... like it's ............. supposed........... to be..............
(and the video is the same).
am i doing sometyhing wrong?
I had to look really hard also for a 6.1 TCPMP. Then on this site there seem to be quite a few different ones. I got mine at http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/1059593835-post107.html it says it is version 4.0.3. But it is open source so people do whatever they want with it. Mine is pretty ugly to look at, but it has always worked (except for the initial crashing - see below). Would like a nicer looking version.
Which one did you download?
This fixed my crashing "If you are having issues with no video or the crashing issue on the HTC HD2 this may help you, You will need to go into the Video settings and change the Direct Draw --> GDI and it should resolve the issue you were having."
i don't remember which one i downloaded... wnloaded about 5 of them from different sites.
i installed all of them (one at a time) to see which one worked best.
the one i've got is worked the best way... but like i said it's shocky... to say the least.
i'll try the one you just send me.
i don't care for looks, i just care for video quality.
i can't believe that a simple viedeoplayer can be so difficult to find on windows mobile.
isn't the whole idea of mobile windows, the idea that you have a mobile version of windows?
and isn't windows also (largely) used for different kinds of media? e.g. video, music etc...
windows media player is the best...

You can access them from the HTC album tab just like your photos. That, or tap them from explorer.
EDIT: Granted they are in the MPEG-4 format you get from, for example, the Videora converter I linked.

i'm not to sure how good the quality of the file is.
all i know is, it's a 700 mb avi file that plays beautifully on my old laptop with VLC running on win xp.
now i'm trying to play that same file on the video player you linked, but the quality is awefull.
the audio stops and starts playing every few seconds, and the video just 1 frame a second (and every now and then, it skips a few frames to catch up with the audio).
i personally just think that nobody bothered to make a descent video player for win mobile. OR (and please forgive me for saying this), the phone simply sucks totally (mostly because it has win mobile on it....).
