according to my knowledge ,,, we cant upgrade to wm 2005 ,, unless its provided by the operator or manufacturer,,

as far as I know Microsoft will post an "upgrade licence" to move from 2003 se to 2005.
Up to now I haven't seen a WM 2005 announcemnt, nor an upgrade proposal.

Limited RAM TRUE But WM2005 seems to handle RAM much more efficiently.
Very Slow FALSE Not true, even with limited resources my MDA2 handles really well. I just make sure to close any unused opened apps in the background.
SW Incompatibility TRUE and FALSE I have discovered that there are SOME apps and games that do not work, but the vast majority that I have tried DO WORK. (there is a thread somewhere with a list of working apps).
In conclussion, I think I will keep WM2005 until the official one comes out...

the 2003SE was only ever released for xda2 in chinese

I had a Wizard and firstly T-Mobile released a German aku3.3 rom and a few months later somebody found a WWE rom on the Croatian T-Mobile site for my old device. Now, i have a Universal and i've seen that T-Mobile also released a German rom and i everyday checked the Croatian site and hoped the same would happen. Today i realised the new WWE rom is out.

Isn't 2.0 WM6, I noticed that the thread title said Wm5 rom...I just wanted to clarify with you if this rom is WM6 or WM5...

I've tried hundreds of Roms but i think i'll use this for a long time
Ram after soft reset is : 31,7 mb (with 2 Gb. Storage Card,without it it's 32,7 mb...
Storage after soft reset : 40 mb
Looks stable,it's early to say its stable ofcourse but very fast be sure...

Even the AKU2 does already support that....

i've tried this since my post (#2). so far, stable, fast and no hang-ups.

yeah it does but not as good as jwright's rom.

Finally HTC has released the new firmware for P3300 (aka Artemis) in varous languages (I'm italian, so I'm interesting on italian version).
It's not the last OS vesion, but I think it's better cook a firm certified for this PDA than adapt a firm build for other HW.
By now I've removed Extended_ROM, Windows Live, Games (never used) and AutoUpdate, so ROM is stable and very light (53 MB free Storage and 25 MB free Programs).
I have some problem that needs your help:
1) How can I remove software protection (the advice installing a not certified program)???
2) Why "Home Plug" doesn't work??? (Perhaps a protection problem???)
3) There is a patch for MediaPlayer (it doesn't work in stand-by)???
With this community I have learned a lot, I'm sure you know how to solve all!!!

Not signed, and than...

... than?
You should look around and see if you can find a signed version of that file then include it in to your rom.
You can use "Security Configuration Manager" of microsoft to sign a file but then you MUST include that sertificate in to your rom then it will go.

The real difference is that Spaghetti is based on "Trinity Lasagna" ROM adapted for using with Artemis, my ROM is only a modded version of original HTC Artemis ROM...
I know the hardware is almost identical, but "almost" is not a warranty...
My rom doesn't want to be the best rom for Artemis, but a good base to create your own ROM...

I've bricked my phone three times, to recover it you need install original HTC FULL rom that writes bootloader, filesystem, and all the rest (complete resume)
Like you can see by my posts number, I'm not so experienced as Meschle or tom_codon, I'm a user that wants share his experience to realize a good ROM for Artemis in italian...
If you try to build your rom, it's possible you are more able in something and me in some other, adding your experience to mine is the way to obtain a result!!!

I tried the untouched pdaviet version but had a couple issues with it, but will try your modified version.

Keyboard is back to looking presentable!!! Thanks algasystems. Hey sanjay I still have the Windows Mobile Lawn boot screen though... It looks the same as the pdaviet rom I think... I'm not gonna reflash back to check but i'm pretty sure.
I guess it's a good thing you started this thread... the vulcan was probably going to loose it any day now.
I'm using the 4700 rom editor for mods, what are you using.

Chemong: I wish you good luck, but don't believe you will find my variation fixes any issues such as battery problems. This is just a cleaner version of the same rom.
MannyMania: Interesting that you are still seeing the lawn. Here's the boot screen I now see. Oh well, at least the keyboard is fixed. I don't intend to do anymore to this since it now is good enough until Kozhura returns but hopefully others will take this and improve it.
I've used Vivi's kitchen in the past, but for simple changes such as these, I just use mamaich's tools directly. I credited Chamine in earlier posts for the boot splash change tips.

The first time I tried the PDAViet version, I saw the rather undesireable bootsplash. I tried re-flashing the previous WM6.0, which did not un-do the bootsplash.
I found that the only way to get the original blue and white HP bootsplash is to re-flash your device with the official WM5 upgrade. If you don't have the WM5 upgrade, I bet any of the WM2003 ROM update patches will yield the same results (just visit HP's website and search for your device to visit the downloads).

Interesting. If people are seeing the PDAVIET splash and I'm not, your explanation may be why. When I reflashed my 4700 with the latest ROM, my previous flash may not have been undone. So thank you for the experiments.
Because of the capabilities of the 4700 (e.g. no phone), I believe this ROM can be made even leaner. I will try to repeat your steps and fix the flash the next time.
Do you think reflashing with a Kozhura WM6 ROM would accomplish the same thing? Even the thought of reverting back to the HP WM5 disaster causes me to shudder.

Thank you Vivi. I've found your kitchen to be excellent as well and a great help for ROM tuning. I also read your tips including ones to remove the RGU files, but PDAVIET already had these deleted so I did not need to remove them. I still feel though that for the 4700 capabilities, there are other files that can be removed to free up more space. I will experiment more to see what I can do with this.

rgu files are needed in using ROM Kitchen.
If no rgu files in ROM, no way to re-packages from that ROM and use ROM Kitchen.
I want to try this ROM but I also want to add my favorite programs in this ROM also.If no rgu files,then I have to manually add and edit it.
I am working with WM6.1 ROM for ASUS P525 and fixing WiFi error with no success , so no time to build Hx4700 WM6.1 from scratch.

I'm sorry for my inconvenience, but is there a working WM5 on UNI G4 device with 128MB RAM. I was active reader on Universal WM6.1 forum, not here.
Reason is that, we got 3G service in my area, and i wanna to try video call.

You need just flash a WM6.1 ROM do a DOC Format and flash WM5 ROM after that
I do it by myself and now i have G4 Uni with 128mb and WM5.0
Some of xda gurus told me "It is just for the while. When you take off Uni battery for some long it will be 64mb Uni"
But for now it is 128mb...
