I havn't modified phones in over a year, the last few that I did where motorola razr and slider versions. I recently jumped into these forums and updated my Dash to WM 6.1 and really like it. My dash developed an issue yesterday, the ear piece has some sort of feedback in it, kind of makes everything sound a little fuzzy -- I can still hear people, but it's annoying. Now that i've upgraded to a Kavana ROM, is T-mobile going to give me crap about replacing the phone (its only 6 months old)? Or is this rectified by reflashing with an official T-mobile WM 6 rom from the offical ROMS thread (or can you not go backwards?)?

Also as a note, I'm fairly sure this is a hardware issue in the Dash's earpiece not something software related from the actual upgraded to Kavana WM 6.1 080330.

A coworker and I just got 8525's about 1 month ago....we finally complained loud enough to our AT&T rep and he is going to wave the 30 day return policy and take our old 8525's back and give us the new 8925's. Hopefully it'll be a good upgrade for us.
My main problem is we've already up graded to WM6. Should I "downgrade" to WM5 since that's what they came with our not worry about. I have not told him yet that we upgraded our phones but I also don't want to upset him since he is offering good customer support/service.

its called the tilt not the flip. and no u dont have to downgrade because wm6 is out for the 8525...

True but I'd suggest installing the Official AT&T ROM....
very good point.. i overlooked that. on a sad note, this may be my last post in the hermes forum due to the fact that my baby boy tilt will be arriving tuesday or wensday!
(got it thru XBM ..they are now exchanging 8525s for 8925s if u've had 3 or more 8525s)

yes, and after 3 8525s u have the option to change to a different make a model. i pushed for the tilt saying its the most compitable with the 8525 they offered a 750v but i kept insisting on a tilt so they finally gave in.
great job on achieving the update! I bought my imate jasjam overseas so no update for me
i'm considering trading it in on importgsm.com but i'm not sure if i'll get more for it from them or wait till i head back to the middle east in december.

I think there is one still out there on the HTC website. I recently ordered a Tilt as well and should be coming in Wednesday.
Here is the link to download the Official WM6 download. I can't see why ATT would have problem exchanging it if it had the official WM6 release.

8925 Exchange is real!
I co-sign Jakeypoo 100 percent! Today I called AT&T and complained about my 8525. Well, it's been my 3rd warranty exchange device and all I told the lady is that the problem I've been having is a chronic issue and that I would like a difference device. She put me on hold, then got back on the line and offered a Motorola Q, The Treo 750, and the 8925 as options. Of course I chose the 8925. They are sending me a brand new full kit too! To think I almost bought one three week ago too? The new device should be here on Friday so advice to you guys, if you've had a couple warranty replacements, call in and get your new Tilts!
Ok no my Q is After we make a Sprite Back Up
Wht if i Loose my Phone, But have saved the Sprite backed up from my Storage card on my PC in a Folder
So if damged or Lose my phone, wil Buy a NEW
If i put my Sprite Backup in a NEW Tilt phone & restore it,
will it make it Just like my OLD phone ?
Ok, so I'm trying to figure out what the best way it to upgrade my wife's T-mobile dash to WM6.1 I know that T-mobile has just released a black dash that has WM6.1 on it, but I'm struggling to find any reviews on it. does it really have WM6.1 with the pannel interface? Hte images shown on T-Mobile's site make interface look the same at the one my wife already has.
If the new Black dash does have the pannel interface, can I use that ROM to upgrade here phone without goign through all the extra hoops since they are both T-Mobile phones and the hardware has not changed?

There's no official Tmobile USA wm 6.1, the topic has already been discussed, some people in the forum have the black dash and it comes with 6.0 standard .

the new Tmobile dash does have 6.1 but no sliding panels but stores are holding them back till the sell out of those with 6.0 on them. I found this out a couple of days ago.

it just has the original 5 or 6 home screens from 6.0, a new radio and a new outerlook. i really couldn't investigate deeper i was in a rush.
It makes NO sense that HTC would release a 6.1 ROM but without the sliding panels. It's part of the system core. I would be willing to bet it's still 6.0, otherwise we would have a seen a leaked ROM somewhere...

Putting a bet on too
I was just in a T-Mobile store last night. They had a working black Dash. I went into Settings > About and confirmed that it is Windows Mobile 6 Standard. It is NOT 6.1.
I bought one like 3 weeks ago and it does indeed come with 6, not 6.1
I went to Telcel to buy one 6months ago and it dindn´t have 6.1 not even 6, it had wm5!!!
So I can´t see any problem as I came inmediately to this great site and installed a 6.1
Now my exaclibur looks and works perefect!

I seem to remember that HTC did NOT list the Excalibur as one of the phones they would be updating to 6.1 way back when 6.1 was released.
T-Mobile Dash with 6.1 (Codenamed "Elvis") was seen working as a cashier in a 7/11 in Whittier, CA. More reports to follow.......
no 6.1 on black dash its just a new face job thats all, ive seen it, but new shadow has 6.1

It was hanging out with the new slide-out keyboard iPhone (Codenamed "JFK")!
I just got mine yesterday and I upgraded online, and the black dash looks very nice and far better than the older version but it is WinMo 6.0 and its not good. I want 6.1!
Yeah, I just got the black dash today. It is definitely 6.0. I upgraded it to Ricky's vanilla ROM right away. I've got it clocked to 240MHz and it's completely stable.

I personally like the Min-n-chip ROM better on my new Green Dash with WM7. Take that!
Anyone got this message? I have been running NFSFAN 6.5 V 6R2 since April 13th 2008 and I got this message this morning... I wonder if there is a time bomb in the WInMo... SHould I start backing up my stuff?

Yeah but if version 9 has the same limitation, then it means we have to upgrade again ( if NFSFAN is still supporting Vogue) then....
I'd rather stick to something that doesnt require frequent upgrades... i hate configuring the phone everytime

Here I'm about to do what I warned you about in the main ROM thread!!!!! But I thought I'd post this here incase anyone else having the same p[roblem would read it.
Note to MODS: sorry!!!
You mentioned you were running V6r2. That one is build 21198, V8 is build 21501. These are both internal test builds meant for Microsoft only. While the timebomb was supposed to be defused The latest builds are "rtm" or released to manufacture. I don't think these would have timebombs in them, so even if NFSFAN messed up the diffusing (OR you and me added something that messed with it) I'm fairly confident V9 won't haven one in it.
Edit: I may be wrong, as NFSFAN has only been mentioning V9 lately, but I think he may release one last version of his 6.1 ROMS due to the new Manilla release. If not we can be fairly confident 1.31 (or your equivalent carrier ##) is the "final" 6.1 ROM. I would download it and keep it as a backup. 6.5 is still a baby and won't be fully refined until we actually see phones sitting on Sprint, Verizons and Bells shelves with it. HTC will probably greatly enhance touchFlo for it to nail Titanium. I don't know if our Vogues will be so obselete by then that NFSFAN will have stopped supporting them, but his last 6.1 release is very stable and bugfree.
i just purchased my tp2 it came with 6.1 ...now ive been reading
about differant roms you can install...now im clueless to all this can i get tmobile to install 6.5 on my phone..i keep reading how to do it but it seems so difficult
You can get a cooked rom with 6.5 (or even 6.5.3), but that's if you want to void your warrenty.
If you don't want to void your warrenty, and not in a rush, you can wait till Janauray 6th, supposedly T-mobile is supposed to be released their 6.5 update for the Dash 3G and TP2 on that day.
Let's hope that it's true.

6.5 is a totally diff ROm and cannot be installed ota. I'm sure they will give step by step instructions as for what to do and where to get it. If the above post is tru then it's only a 2 week wait. no sweat.

When I went to purchase my TP2 at a tmobile store in November, they had a displayed TP2 running on 6.5. I asked if mines come with 6.5 and they said no, but they said that I should be able to upgrade it by early December. Now it seems that I will have to wait a couple or perhaps a few more weeks again (if nothing gets delayed). By the time the official 6.5 upgrade is out, I hear that winmobile 7 is already making its way out sometime early in 2010. Knowing that, I no longer want to wait for the official release of 6.5 and would just rather installed an unofficial released instead, but like Rickmasta said, it will void the warranty on the phone and the TP2 is a really pricey phone.

As long as you flash back to stock and then reset the HSPL then your warranty will be fine....
will i have to install the knew 6.5 from the tmobile site ....and what are the pros/cons vs 6.1
You can install a cooked ROM 6.5 that is much better than any official one!

Pros: 6.5 more finger friendly, better UI, newest
Cons: 6.5 much more RAM hungry than 6.1 but with proper tweaking that will not be a prob

Phones by/for Sprint and Verizon networks are CDMA devices -- it's the kind of cell-radio/band/system they use (something like that).
In the USA, T-Mobile and ATT are GSM networks -- this is what your T-Mobile phone works with.

That's interesting. A TP2 with WM6.5 loaded on it, displayed in a T-Mobile store, even before they released the official ROM to the T-Mobile crowd.
I think I may have read somewhere (I don't recall exactly where) that WM7 will be delayed to mid-late 2010. However, knowing XDA, we'll probably see some WM7 ROMs early in the new year.
boy i would love do one of cooked roms ...but i wish there was a video step by step ...because im not that savvy with all the technical jargon...if it had it screen for sreen boy that would help so much ...but for now ill go with the tmobile upgrade

In the link, there's a link on installing HardSPL.
Since the majority of the ROMs here are intendend for the WWE Unlocked version of th TP2, you will need some fixes, which you can find here (if you have different carrier-modified TP2, like the T-Mobile or the Tilt2).

I just bought a supposedly new T-Mobile Touch Pro2 and I have my doubts that it is new. One of the clues that bothers me is that it has WM 6.5 preinstalled while the documentation shows a 6.1 screen. I am trying to decide whether to pursue a complaint with eBay as I feel I paid a reasonable amount for a brand new device, but I am not sure that it was a fair price for a used phone. The seller has admitted that the supposedly "sealed" unit was indeed used, but only for 10-15 minutes. But then there is the WM6.5 installed. Are they preinstalling 6.5 now? Thanks.
I believe WM 6.5 is coming pre-installed. T-Mo came out with an update recently.

Yes, Tmo is advertising now that they come with 6.5 out of the box. However, it's not really easy to tell if your supplier had access to the newer stock or not...?
Played with one in the store and they're def comming with 6.5 now. Although, I prefer 6.1.
Thanks. I was surprised to say the least that 6.5 was installed. I am not sure which I like better, but I will leave it as is until the SOD problems are solved in the 6.5.3 roms. Then I may try flashing something newer.
