2- is there any way to specify just to open a program, but to open it in certain mode, like open the calendar in the new appointment window.?
ill apreciate any help

1) highlight the item ie storage card click menu - edit - copy. Then go to the location you want the shortcut and click menu - edit - paste shortcut.

2- The following thread is quite informative http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=252250 .
If you don't want to make shortcuts in using a text editor, you might try GSFinder+ which allows you to attach arguments to shortcuts.
If all you want is a shortcut to a new appointment, might I recommend WM5NewMenu. It does what you want and a lot more. It is lightweight and by far the most useful program I have found for my phone.

Location: Icons for the Programs Menu

Upon install some third party applications, two icons for a program will install in the programs menu instead of just one (not talking Start Menu). These are not two separate installs, but two shortcuts to the same program. Under Remove Programs there is only one program instance.
On a related note, I had switched phones and had installed Beta player on my SD card..it was still there, of course, but now an icon does not appear in the Programs folder.
1. Where do I go to remove or add shortcuts into the Programs Menu?
2. How do I do so? (if it is too long to type out, where can I read about doing so?)
Thanks,
First a real file explorer then find the links here....
Get a real file explorer first. The Windows standard one is terrible and you can not see many files that savy users need to see (such as the shortcuts I mention below). RESCO is a good and popular one. Then you can find the program shortcuts in Windows\Start Menu\Programs. These are just links to the actual executables and if you get the file properties you can see where they link to.
Alt file explorers
Ah...I figured it was something simple like that. I will download some file explorers and try them out.
Thanks ;-)
Resco Fixed it
Once I could see and read everything on the pda, everything was a breeze. Thanks again.
Hey is there a way to show the programs as a list when you go through the menu or does it have to show the full icons?

Free Explorer Program?

While cleaning up my Start menu, I accidentally deleted my Explorer.lnk.... Therefore, I have no way to restore it since Resco expired.
Any way to recreate it or a free Explorer program in order to make a new one?
The shortcut .LNK file format is as follows:
47#\windows\wrlsmgr.exe?\windows\shellres.dll,-100
47#
The number of characters that follow after this.
\windows\wrlsmgr.exe
The program this shortcut launches.
?\windows\shellres.dll,-100
This is the icon resource and it's index within the binary. Note that this is optional is usually excluded in which case, the target .EXE's icon is used.
An easier method is to make a new shortcut is to use a text editor and create a shortcut file (xxx.lnk). You can use the FREE "PocketNotepad" (http://www.tillanosoft.com/ce/pnotepad.html).
But you can also use TotalCommander for PPC (http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm) which has an option "Create Shortcut" (File/>>>>>>/Create Shortcut).
Close... but instead of wrlsmgr.exe ... fexplore.exe Thanks man!

Omg! Help with the rom cooking!

Ok, I saved the raw files from my diamond! and i followed every instruction to create/cook the rom. I got the splash screen and I added a custom software called PhoneCrypt because I don't want to install it over and over again every time I hard reset. When I flashed the rom, the splash screen was cut out, but I can fix that by cropping the picture and making it smaller!!! BUT THE PROBLEM is with the software, I cannot find, the only place to find it is in the Program Files, the question is:
HOW DO I ADD THE SOFTWARE SHORTCUT IN THE START MENU AND HOW DO I ADD IT IN THE PROGRAMS TAB(the end of the menu list- with all the program shortcuts)????
Please Help me out!!!!!!!!!!
SOmebody help please!!!!!

BUT i wanna change the directry in the rom itself so i can cook it into and i dont have to move the shortcut every time i hard reset. I have been trying to do it for a long time and i seriously need some major help.
get .cab version of this application your talking about open .cab with wince cab manager or similar application and change the shortcut output or create a new one. saves alot messing around and its simple. then create oem cook and your good to go. maybe im just lazy
or if you're installing the applications through packages, then,
when making packages (with package creator) , you can select where u want tp place the shortcuts.

I think you need to paste a shortcut rather than the exe itself
instead of choosing paste choose the option below called paste shortcut

[Q] Editing sense shortcuts

Hi!
Is there any way I can edit tabs in htc sense? I mean not just show/hide, but add my own app. Using Resco contact manager and I would really like to use its Sms inbox instead of Htc sms tab... Done quite a lot of search but didnt find anything
Thanks for any help!
Also - how can I edit Start menu - if I hold finger on screen, it allows me only to move items. How can i add folder and move eg. favourite apps in there...?
Go to File Explorer app, then go to My Device/Windows.
It takes a long time for the file explorer to finish loading all the files in the Windows folder, but be patient. Did I mention it takes a long time? But it will get there. Don't turn off your phone or reset.
Once it is done, go to Start Menu folder and you can delete shortcut you don't want or edit as your please.
