Menneysys started a new 3d four months ago. At that time the trick worked only in WM6 PRO devices, using mortscript. (MY) MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH: now, you can use Opera Mini as the system-level Web browser!
After some days the WM6 standard fix was done, but now HERE has been posted a simple CAB to set opera mini as default web app. I've tested and it works flawless in Kavana's (should be the same in Ricky's) ROM.
I have Opera Mini as default web browser now, opening web links in e-mail, contacts, ... !
Thank you! This worked perfectly. Do you know of any way to bypass the jbed security messages on Kavana's WM6.1 ROM?
The Jbed is part of the ROM, so I can't find the files that some of the previous hacks mentioned.

I found a link here in the forums on how to bypass the security messages. Click the link below. Great fix!

I have Opera Mobile installed as the default browser.
How come when I click a link in an Outlook message, it opens in Pocket IE? I can't find a setting to change this. Does anyone know a solution?
(I get MLS listings from my realtor that don't open in PIE, yet open fine in Opera. PIE receives 50Kb of data from the site and then starts over opening the page again. Is there some other problem here?)
I'm running WM6 Pro 2.5 Black (Buzzing)
Opera 8.6
Running the latest LVSW, with Opera 8.65, and links in Outlook opened in Opera when it was set to the default browser in the Opera settings.
I'm having this problem too. Did you find a solution? I am running official Tytn WWE WM6.
Thanks.
Are there any other browsers beside P.I.E. and Opera mini out there? I hate these 2 browsers! Please, any help would be appreciated.
Netfront, Opera for PPC (not mini) for example
Netfront is decent
you could get P.I. plus(an add-on for P.I.E), but it costs after 14 days
I've attached cab's of both
i found nokia's browser (optimized opera) on my e61 (same as n95, n93 etc.) the best, especially its minimap...alas it works only on symbian based phones
netfront
netfront....
link in rapidshare
(couldn't attach for some reason)

Minimo
Try Minimo. It can be a tad slow to open tabs, but it renders far quicker than PIE. FYI, Minimo is a port of Mozilla Firefox for WM5/6. Strangely, I haven't seen it mentioned here before.

Thanks that minimo browser is what i was looking for a java enabled browser the interface is kind of funny though but im trying to understand it.
I was about to post a similar message today. I just upgraded to the Vp3G WM6 Rom and finding that Opera mini doesn't work as well as it did on WM5 (I've tried both the 3.1 and beta 4 versions and they both act buggy and slower).
I've never liked PIE and I even downloaded the beta version of their Deepfish browser which is slow and doesn't zoom well.
I've used Piscel browser, which is great for zooming but not really for browsing quickly, plus I'm getting the memory full error too often.
I have the Opera 6.5 full mobile browser, but it's slow too. The plus is that that one will let you download stuff (such as megaupload files, etc)
I'll try the Mozilla one, but it doesn't seem too great.
The NetFront one is slow too and zooming isn't very user friendly.
I guess I'll have to wait til Opera gets their act together on the real release of the next mini, unless there's something else out there. Opera mini, IMO, is hands down has been the best mobile browser out there so far, but I wish it wasn't so buggy running on WM6.
I'm in the US, loaded the Kavana WM6.1. Afterwards I went to the opera mini site and installed the latest java browser.
Why does it think I'm in some other country? Many of the sites I goto seem to default to some Scandinavian or Russian site ... I'm not sure, since I can't read it.
I've looked in the opera mini settings which is pretty much English, menu-wise but I've found nothing to set my locale.
I'm thinking it's in the ROM and whatever Esmertec Jbed was loaded, because I didn't have this issue prior to loading this ROM. Is there some sort of registry entry that I can edit to let the ROM know I'm in the U.S.?
Thank you,
Tim
Good question..
I have experienced the same thing with like myspace for example.
that's probaby a Opera Mini issue. It routes all traffic to its home servers in Finland. I used to have this problem, but it seems corrected itself. I'm still using 080314 version of wm6.1 though.
exactly as qaplus said, its operas problem..thats how Opera Mini works so damn fast...it uses a proxy to fast feed your phone the websites, but it is all routed through Finland, so it automatically formats pages in Finland-ese(FYI Finnish I think heh)
Opera Mobile 9.7 beta 1
Posted over at ppcgeeks by a member who found it on opera's ftp site.
cab:
ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/winmobile/970b1/
anyone try it yet? worth the dload?
I tried it.
There is no flash support
And Opera Turbo server has to be enabled in settings.
But even with Opera Turbo, the website load time is still the same.
So I think the server is not active yet.
It is very very smooth!!!
so just try it!
ive tried it, i think it is slightly quicker with opera turbo enabled, but seems a bit buggy. e.g. it wont load a url if you click on the go arrow next to the url, you have to press enter on the device keyboard.
scrolling is very smooth and quick though - this is a vast improvement
is there anyway to make this replace the opera in the ROM?
hello
someone how he would recover opera favorites
8.5 to pass the version 9.7 turbo
ps: translation of my text by google ( french - English )

i did have that in the beginning, but now it seems everything is working again, give it some time and soft reset a few times (i'm on miri 17 also)
I have onkolog super lite wm6.5ROM and works fine. Turbo is the best!
I have to say that for a beta (from Opera) it's pretty good....a bit slow rendering....but on the whole once the page is loaded an excellent browser.
Here's hoping there is more to come.

Dear all,
Opera Mobile 10 is great. It's fast, smooth, and with plenty of useful functions. Finally we have a browser that compares to the iPhone's safari.
Unfortunately, if you install Opera Mobile 10 on your Touch HD, you lose some of the features of the pre-installed Opera 9. Here is a list:
Vibration when clicking a link
Opera 9 makes a short vibration when I hyperlink is tapped. Opera 10 misses this feature.
Solution:
None at the moment.
Special URL keyboard
In Opera 9, a special keyboard appeared when typing a URL in the URL bar: it contained a ".com" handy key, as well as other useful symbols. In Opera 10, the standard keyboard appears when typing URLs.
Solution:
None at the moment.
Touch HD arrow as back button
In Opera 9, the "left arrow" button of the Touch HD worked as back button in the browser. In Opera 10, this button simply minimizes Opera.
Solution:
None at the moment.
Internet tab push pages open Opera 9
In Manila/Sense internet tab, when clicking on a push page, Opera 9 is opened.
Solution:
Flash new ROM
Flashing a new ROM with Opera 10 pre-installed solves this problem. I am looking for something less "extreme", though, like a registry edit or cab file.
SSMaHo
Possible to use SSMaHo to redirect links in Manila. See:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493810
and post #3. Not tested yet. Thanks to Koffein Schluck.
Internet tab push pages pick bookmarks from Opera 9
In Manila/Sense internet tab, when adding a push page, it is possible to pick it from the bookmarks. Unfortunately, the bookmarks are those of the default Opera 9.
Solution:
Flash new ROM
Flashing a new ROM with Opera 10 pre-installed solves this problem. I am looking for something less "extreme", though, like a registry edit or cab file.
Opera 9 cannot be uninstalled

I started this thread hoping to collect solutions and workarounds for all these issues, hoping to make Opera Mobile 10 perfectly integrated with Touch HD and Manila/Sense. Please help me! Reply to this message either proposing valid solutions or highlighting other missing features that I did not discover.
Hope to fill out this list with solutions soon!

a simple solution for 4,5 and 6 would be flashing a rom that has opera 10 installed by default
Solution for point 4:
There is a software called SSMaPa, you can RElink the shortcuts in Manila! Use the forim search to get it! Its free and not so difficult
I dunno if this is relevant or not, but the only thing stopping me from moving over to opera 10 is the lack of any decent zoom function. anyone know how to enable the zoomslider? or anything that allows you to zoom properly again? atm, i have to go to settings and adjust the zoom level from there, which is hardly intuitive

Thanks for your answer. Yes, you are certainly right. I'll write this in the post.
On the other hand, I also would like a less "extreme solution". I have a ROM I am quite happy with ([ROM][WWE][26.02.2010] Miri WM 6.5 21893 :: V 38.0 [DISCONTINUED]), because it's fast, stable, and it has got what I needed. Plus, I don't want to flash a new ROM and hence lose all my data and configurations. Also, I think that many people don't really want take the time and effort to flash other roms. Hence I this post.
Cheers

Thanks for the hint. I will try it. Did you try it already specifically for solving issue 4? Do you have more detailed instrusctions on how to use the program?
Cheers

Same for me. Opera 10 is fine, fast but the zoom doesn't work like it should be (why it is now based on the page width???). Therefore it is not usable for me.
My solutions:
1. Install Touchresponse, great open source app, works in background, vibrates when you touch the screen.
2. Install Fingerkeyboard, has customizable buttons for .com, .org, .net, etc.
4. Remove internet tab from manila, put Opera 10 icon in programs tab - no flashing, installing or unistalling required.
Those work well for me.
