Mine is 17 characters, but US TMobile asks for 15 characters. I'm using Kavaran's 0314 rom.
the last 2 numbers dont count, and always compare your IMEI number from within Windows to the one on the sticker under you phone battery, they are sometimes different:/
ok. thanks.

Could some of you please share the first 8 digits of the IMEI #s for your AT&T Tilt2s?
I don't need the full number, only the first 8 digits.
Why are you asking?

Hi, I sold my GNex the other week and today I bought my GS3 and so far I'm loving it! The only thing I need to do is unlock it. So I have a question cellunlock.net asks for the 15 or 17 digit IMEI from my phone.
When I dialed *#06# the IMEI was The 15 digits then / 02
so do I include the 02 in to make it 17 or just the first 15? The code was basically 123456789012345 / 02
So when they ask for the IMEI 15/17 digit number do I use:
123456789012345
or
12345678901234502
There will be instructions on the website you get your code from but I believe that it is just the 15 digits
Oh yea!? Thems fightin words....
Thanks! I looked it up and stupid me I could have just looked behind my battery!
Anyway, whats does /02 mean?

I want to unlock my Inc, but it seems my MEID is only 14 digits, not 15 digits. called *#06# as well as looked underneath the batter cover and they are the same. Is the MEID supposed to only be 14 digits? And if so, is there a way I can find the last digit?
Mine is only 14 too.

Unlock as in SIM unlock? If so, the Inc doesn't have a sim. And can't be unlocked for international use. What you're looking for is an IMEI, which the Inc doesn't have.

My Inc is 14 digits as well. Are you sure you're talking about the original Inc for Verizon which is a CDMA phone?
I purchased a phone off CL. I tried to put a SIM card in but it doesn't recognize one. So i realized the IMEI number on the back does not match the IMEI number in android OS. It doesn't say 000000 or one of those fake IMEI 049 numbers. It just has another IMEI number. My question is, is there a way to modify the numbers to match the IMEI number i have on the back of my phone?
I actually didn't know it didn't match until i sent it to samsung to fix. I thought it was just a problem with the SIM tray but they stated that the IMEI numbers don't match. As a result, they just sent my phone back without fixing anything.
Please help me out. It's on stock rom and not rooted
Again.. the phone is not blacklisted.. I want to change the IMEI number (software) shown in android OS to match the IMEI number (hardware) that i have shown on the back of my phone. I don't know why it's not the same.
Thanks for your help
when phones are refurbished, they change the imei number so its probably just a refurbished phone. Leave the imei alone. Im pretty sure the imei doesnt affect the phone recognizing the sim card anyway, but i could be wrong on that

They do change the IMEI when they refurbish, but they also put a brand new sticker on it that shows the new IMEI. Also it's a different sticker than the one that comes on a new phone. It's a different size and it positioned differently. Makes it VERY clear if your phone is new or refurbished.
Aznn0, though you may not realize it what you bought is a stolen/blacklisted/insurance exchange/etc S4. It had a bad IMEI and the seller changed it (illegally) and then sold it to you without bothering to mention the device's history.
If you changed it to the IMEI listed on the back of the phone (And I am telling you in no undercertain terms that you should not!) I'd bet latge sums of money that the phone would go dead because the IMEI listed on the back is a blacklisted number.
So Samsung won't touch it ever again. They will never do a repair for you. If it breaks, you're on your own to fix it.
None of this is probably your fauly and I believe you didn't know what you bought. But it is what it is.
Regardless, asking questions about how to change an IMEI are expressly not permitted on XDA. I know you didn't know, so no hard feelings. But don't ask about how to change an IMEI here again.

yea they do put a new sticker on it, but allot of sellers on ebay/craigslist remove the sticker so that they can sell it as "new" and get a few extra bucks. most sellers assume that buyers wont ever find out which is probably true 90% of the time
Thanks for all your replies.
It's weird because I put in both the IMEI numbers listed from the back of the phone and the one listed in android and they came back clean. I used one of those free esn checker websites. I know they aren't 100% reliable but damn..
I thought matching the IMEI number would do the trick.
It sucks...
I'm having the exact same problem! Mine is an s4 active and when I called my phone service provider they didn't tell me that mine was blacklisted or anything either...
error 119 your mobile phone's imei number not match, plz help me
I have a new to me Note 10 plus replacing my former and crushed note 10 plus 5g. I got it on SWAPPA. I am wondering about it. Seems something is possible wrong with it like it was reflashed. First the IMEI number was wrong and bad. This has me a bit vexed as this should be my fault but it seemed like the IMEI number changed.
I couldn't get the *#06# or other like codes to work. I went to about phone to get it. Ran it on SWAPPAS free IMEI checker and it came back invalid. Wrong manufacturer, wrong model phone. I called Samsung they verified the IMEI was wrong. I even let her take control of the phone something I normally would not allow. She had me call back and speak to Case management since the close at 4 o'clock. I waited till after Christmas weakened to call back. When I did the IMEI number was different to the number I had written down and what was saved on the SWAPPA site. It now was correct for the phone. The phone had updated, perhaps it reverted back to the original correct number. As far as I know this should be wrong and I wrote it down wrong, then rechecked it wrong, entered into SWAPPA wrong and the Samsung Agent also somehow got it wrong when she verified it was wrong again from the phone. So, confused about that, how could it have changed back to being correct? The update or simply operator errors in seeing it wrong, including the agent.
Before I called the first time I was looking online and people blame this on when a phone is reflashed sometimes the *# codes no not work and would then need to be flashed again or the phone is counterfeit, it seems to be a genuine phone. When speaking with Samsung the second time they said that Verizon blocks the codes, I have heard that but my last ones were not. I called Verizon had them run the IMEI that I now have in the settings, it was good according to them but when I told them about Samsung saying the codes were blocked by Verizon's request the Verizon rep said no, they use that code for people to verified the IMEI and that they should all be working on my phone. I can confirm that my last one worked just fine on Verizon with the codes, at least the couple I used did that do not now.
The Verizon rep asked me to call back when I figure it out to let them know so they can put the answer in their database.
Any ideas about why the codes like *#06# are not working and how to fix it? Or anyone have experience with what seems like IMEI numbers changing after first set up?
