How to save custom sound for SMS?

Hey guys, does anyone know how to set the sms into my own sounds for P3300? I try many times but still do not know how to save the file under which directory.....help please...

you have to change the extension of the file and then should put in windows folder to access that file for sms

What should I change on the extention if it is a MP3 format? And where should I copy to?

SMS tones need to have a .wav extension if I remember correctly, and placed directly in the windows folder.

Ok, so I have a sound I want to hear when an sms message arrives, and I converted it to *.wav and put it in the Windows directory. How do I replace this sound with the original sms sound?
edit:
I think I already know. Once you've put in the windows folder it automaticly is shown in the list where you can change you ringtone sound, incoming mail sound, etc.

Maybe this is a better way
Just install this application and you have done it

orgnanise Programs

Hi i want to organise my programs in the start menu\programs into folders so they arent scattered all over the place can anyone help??????

use resco explorer or explorer windows default go to Windows--> Start Menu---> Programs and move it to folder as u want

Thanks for your reply. But half of my programs are not located in that folder so i can not even move them to the folder.
Please help, as they are totally unorganised and it is doing my head in. (Love your Work by the way)

you have to setup your browser to show hidden and system files

menu --> Options --> General --> Browser

And finally, I think that mahsidi should make difference between the program, and a link to it. In Windows\Start Menu\Programs, you'll find only links. If a program that you install don't automaticly create a shortcut in this place, you'll have to create yourself : with Resco, go to the install folder of your prog, tap and hold on the .exe file and then, use the "Send to" fonction (the "Start Menu as Shortcut" item).

Turning voice command off permanetly?

I have been terminating Voice command throuhg Celetask everytime I start my htc-s620 with wm6.1. Reason I do it is to free up memory. Id love to remove this voice command permanetly so, I dont have to worry about terminating voice command everytime i start the phone.
I tried searching. With no luck.
Is there a way to completely shut off this feature to free my memory up?
Please let me know.

Dude, using active sync....go to \windows\start up folder
delete the voice shortcut.

ok, well i went into my windows folder and i didnt find anything that was related to voicecommand.. Couldn't find the "startup" folder you were referring to either. Just program files, My documents, application data, mapi, connmgr, docs and settings

when you hit explore in active sync, go to tools > folder options. from there hit the view tab. then in that big list you see, hit the button next to "show hidden files and folders". hit ok. then do what mikey said.

What if you have windows vista and you do not have active sync but rather windows mobile device center.

Ummmm....you do know how to explorer your phone?!?!
Go into the \Start Up folder and delete the shortcut.

I folllow the steps like these:
to set our own sms tones
copy the mp3 or wma file to My Documents
do the following reg edit to set the new sms tone
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\SMS]
"Sound"=String:\My Documents\test.mp3
test.mp3 is the file copied to my documents folder

Hi,
The way I do it is as follows:
1. Make sure your phone is unlocked (Chevron unlocker)
2. Choose your tone and convert it to WMA format and rename it Alert-01
3. Use Chevron ringtone installer to convert it to a xap file and then install it
either with the microsoft tools or Tom Xap installer.
4. Install Touchexplorer xap to your phone.
5. Now when you go into the menus you will see Chevron ringtones, click on this
and it will show the ringtones installed, your will show here.
6. Go into Touchexplorer and navigate to "My Documents" and then MyRingtones"
7. Copy these files and navigate back to the "Windows" folder (takes a short while
to open)
8. When it opens paste the files in the folder, it will ask to overwrite the
existing one,but as you don't like them it won't make any difference.
9. Now when you go to "Settings" you will be able to choose the alert you
installed, just remember what number you gave it.
The same method can be done for Alarms.
This has been posted before but I can't remember exactly where in the threads as it took me a while to find it, but thanks to the original poster (you know who you are)

In the seetings it would show nothing but the custom tone is assigned.
When u receive any sms u will hear the custom tone which u set eventhough it shows nothing in settings.

Hello again,
for "custom" I mean using an mp3 or wav file, so an audio file not present by default on the phone..
For calls this function is provided, it a pity it s not for sms.. but hopefully you know how to do that!

If you download or create a custom notification .mp3 file, copy it to the notifications folder on the phone. It should show up under CUSTOM in the list of notification sounds available to be used.

I am using a Samsung S22 Ultra with Android 12. If I use MY Files (must have SHOW HIDDEN SYSTEM FILES turned on), I have a NOTIFICATIONS folder on the root of the internal storage. That is the folder my custom .mp3 files are located. When I choose notification sounds, those files show under the Custom header.

Thank you so much, that did the trick!
no custom header present, but after i copied mp3 file in Notifications folder mp3 file title is visible among the list of builtin notification ringtones! So just selected it and it s done
