Reception issues - HTC Excalibur

Hi guys, i recently bought a dash, and ive just updated my ROM to the new Kavana 080308 version. Now before i did that i was running WM5, and i was constantly noticing that the reception would drop completely, and i wouldnt be able to make/receive calls etc. There would be a "searching" message next to my carrier information.
Since ive updated to WM6, i was hoping that problem would be fixed however no such luck. Its constantly dropping reception to zero. I love this phone but not having reception kinda...ruins you know...the phone part
My radio firmware is 4.1.13.51_03.07.09
So what gives? is there a fix for this? Is the signal dropping off completely when it bottoms out a certain level?
any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

i'm pretty sure that's the latest radio fw.
u sure it's just not where you live? if so... maybe you have a bumb phone?

well it happens completely random. It seems whenever there's an area with poor reception, rather than GINVING ME poor reception...it drops completely.
A quick google search confirmed that its not just my phone that exibits this kind of behavior.
I was just wondering if anybody had heard of such a thing and if there was a fix...
thanks

I make a soft reset and strat to receive missed calls + sms's.
I have Vanilla 4.02 ROM and I use very often the wifi connection....
br.
im with you there, this is the reason why i went back to my aging nokia 6280. ive tried about 10 different roms and it would never pick up the signal unless rebooted. what happens with mine and a few of my friends was on london underground you would lose the signal obviously underground, when you came out the phone would pick up the signal but never recieve a call or sms. also the gprs wouldnt connect unless it was rebooted. ive had a few htcs in the past but because of this poor show i wont ever purchase another one.
my phone done this from day one of ownership, tmobile told me that firmware upgrades would fix this annoying problem, but it never did.
maybe you should try updating your radio ROMs
flashing different ROMs wont help
done half a dozen of them as well on my phone.

Even, I had the same problem, but since I moved to Radio version 3.21.XX, everything is just fine, no problems since then. Even 3.24.XX is out now, you should definitely give it a try. Hope it works for you!!
Cheers!
Same problem
Thanks for posting. I have the same problem with the same ROM. I'll change radio rom.
Radio Rom changed
Radio Rom changed 3.34.90 . No problems and good quality

No Service problems

Hi guys, I don't usually ask for help because I just lurk around to find a solution to my problem, but I have since moved into an apartment on campus where I have poor reception, and I can't seem to find a solution to this problem. The thing is the phone actually has the signal bars filled up sometimes but I get the yellow triangle sign that says no signal. I tried flashing a new baseband to my phone and it still didn't have any effect. I am running on gingerbread right now on my arc. If you guys can help me out I would appreciate it so much. Thanks!
I have this app to boost 3g up and it somewhat works, but I usually just turn off and on 3g and it'll probably be back up to normal
Which ROM? stock?
yea I have the stock rom, and I dont need the 3g since I dont have the data plan, the thing is, sometimes I am able to get reception without the warning sign, but it is very seldom. Thanks the for the help.

CM 10 Signal Loss?

Hey guys,
So I have CM 10 (cm-10-20121104-NIGHTLY) running on my Sprint SGS3, and I absolutely love it. Only thing is, my signal sucks. I NEVER have more than 1 bar, which is a very big hassle for me, as I use the GPS and voice/data a lot. I have to stay connected to wifi whenever I want to surf the web or get directions. It rarely dials out if I want to call someone, or if someone calls me, then it usually doesn't ring on my end, it will just send them to voicemail.
Like I said, I really like CM10 and would hate to flash something else, but the fact that I can't use my phone for basic functions (calling/web) is really annoying. Does anyone else have a similar problem? Or better yet, does anyone have a solution to this? I don't want to lose CM10, but I will if I have to.
Thanks guys.
Do you notice a difference if you turn Airplane mode on then off? I think you're describing a known problem with the 3G radio and CM10...
Noted this too....

I have noted a lesser but similar issue. When I am at work (in a moderate sized city) I get 2 -3 bars with CM10 but 0 signal where I used to get at least 1 bar or roaming one bar with TW. I posted recently about this issue and have noted other comments (like in the Sprint website phone reviews) that are similarly focused.
I have found that the stock ROM will give me signal (I can dial out) where CM10 frequently won't (no dial out). Others have suggested that it is a matter of perception and dissimilar scales. I may waste the time collecting actual data... signal strength numbers, etc... Since I cannot have both ROMs running at the same time, it would have to be averaged data... Not sure I am worked up enough for that
You could try some of the other radios available in these forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787677
Good luck and if you find a ROM/radio combo that improves your signal, let us know!

Im having the same issue. Any luck flashing another radio?

[Q] Losing Connectivity

Hi all, from what I've read this is a documented problem, but I haven't really found a satisfactory answer for it yet.
I live in a college town with various areas of bad receptions (such as buildings). When I lose connectivity in an area of bad reception, occasionally I will not regain reception once I move back into an area where I should. I then have to toggle Airplane mode to get reception again.
I also have a history of failing to receive texts from people sometimes, and it's starting to really annoy me.
I've flashed many roms, updated firmwares from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4, including bootloader, radio, and more, and it still happens. Has anyone else experienced this problem and managed to fix it, before I move to another phone as a last resort?

I have a similar problem as well. Radio drops out, need to restart my phone constantly. If I recycle the radio (turn airplane mode on/off), the phone locks up and reboots.
Having trouble finding ANY guidance on firmware for this issue :/
More info needs to be posted like current rom/firmware, past roms/flashes or processes used , custom or stock recovery. All this will help others help you.

Found this post, seems to be what I was looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59443804&postcount=158
For background, I'm running the latest Dirty Unicorns 5.0.2 release. Went to that from 5.0.2 GPE official. Device version is TMO M919.
What modem are you currently on?
You can flash the latest nk2 modem using Odin and try it out , if that doesn't work you can try NH7.

Signal Issues

Hi all
So I know that many people have reported the same issue but no one ever seems to come to a conclusion on what is causing the problem...Some say it's the network, some say it's the software etc. Anyway I'm hoping to get to the bottom of this, my issue is as follows:
I see signal issues multiple times a day where I have signal bars and phone calls and texts work but data does not. The only thing which resolves the issue is a full reboot.
I currently run Cloudy G3 2.2 in my imported 32GB G3, I saw the same issues on the stock ROM too though. The signal issues only seem to occur when the signal drops to a low "H" signal...all the time i am in the office I have a full "H" signal and do not see the issue...the issue only occurs when the signal drops quite low...even when it goes back to full again the issue remains until I do a full reboot.
Anyone got any idea what this is all about? I don't want to have to switch phones to get rid of this issue....
Thanks
Just to be sure, did you flash the lollipop baseband when you installed cloudy
Ermmm I thought it came with the baseband?
Just checked and i do indeed have the Lolipop baseband...any other ideas? From searching around it seems a lot of people have this issue!

Id say if it happens on Stock Rom as well its probably a network issue related to the cell towers in your area. So i wouldnt worry too much about it
Can't be that either as it happens in multiple locations which are all around an hour from each other I'm gonna have to sell the phone at this rate and get a one plus one or something

Try Flashing 'Newer' Modem, first.....
If you are using Model D855.....:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3110376... Thanks to @Step-han
I have the latest 20p version already though, there are no newer versions
Have a case open with Vodafone (they have simply suggested sending the phone in for repair, not an option for me) and have a case with LG too who have only suggested basic things so far (none of which have worked) aiming to get both of them to progress the cases to their engineering teams
