Recently i have bought s620, or s621, whatever, i don't known what is difference between them. at first i didn't noticed that keypad layout is different. instead of q-a, w-z,a-q, z-w. but when i've flashed win6 i the layout became as should be, but still i can't change the keys on keyboard getting used to, when want to type a, i have to tap q, a little bit annoying. Why there is such different layout?
Looks like you have the french version of S620.
mhm, thats a western european keyboard layout there, similiar to the DVORAK keyboard

change to keyboard with diferente button positions
Hello, i'm waiting from ebay an keyboard for qtek 9000(in this case, T-mobile MDA) and it was a qwertz layout.
the question is, if I change the original keyboard to a new keyboard with diferente button positions such as Ok button, video call button and others, will pda recognize the diference and atribute right function to each button?

no i believe it will not.... the keyboard replacement you bought are just button pads... external only and does not contain the board that corresponds to the button press.... this means it will still follow the original keyboard format even if the buttons say otherwise... you could use a software however to remap these buttons to suit your new keyboard layout.
Universal Keyboard
Hi!
I have a Universal with a German keyboard running WM6 in English.
There is no need for any sort of special software to map the keys when you change from German to English. When you load a WWE WM6 your device will automatically have a US QWERTY layout. It will be then up to you to remember your Touch Typing 101 lessons.
It's generally not that bad with letters and numbers--just swap the Y and the Z. Punctuation is harder. When I first got my phone I printed out the keyboard layouts from both a German Vodafone manual and an UK manual and carried them around for reference. After two months I don't even notice anymore.
Good luck,
shrines
Hi,
Why are you suggesting that??? It's much easier to fix the registry for the german layout. That's what I have.
1. for the german keyboard on english ROM
2. get a registry editor (like Resco)
3. search the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
4. edit - Layout in decimal to 66567 (from 66569)
5. softreset
(thanks to macznik)

Hi. I'd just bought HTC touch pro2 and I believe it's for the german market. It has qwertz keyboard. It was flashed with WWE 6.1 ROM ( as far as I can see it's official ROM not cooked) When I press y key it turns out z, symbol keys are all mixed up... I tried keyboard mapping software, but got messed up... and gave up. I need help...some people on other forums suggested that I can flash it with german ROM, but I don't speak german. Anyway, is there a way to fix it in my present software (except keyboard mapper) or can you tell me what to do...maybe I can try cooked software in english with qwertz keyboard view? If you can reccommend me any... Thank you in advance (sorry for my english)
Anyone, please? In service center they proposed to change the keyboard and to replace it with qwerty but it is very expensive
Ok, I have a German device (So QWERTZ hard keyboard)
I loaded a WM6.5 WWE so English version, that changed my keyboard to QWERTY, so when hitting the Z on my hard keyboard, it showed the Y.
Changing below two keys with a reg editor will make your keyboard back inline. So Z will show Z and Y will show Y, but you can keep your English ROM.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME\KeyboardLayouFiles
"07FF"="eT9.Rhodium.0407.kmap.txt"
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD\
"CurLang"="407" (HEX)
Good Luck
Hello! I've the same problem with a pro2 taken in swiss. i've loaded wm 6.5 and now i've keys z and y inverted and many simbols too. I've tried to change my reg but I can't change the second parameter (Curlang) 'couse reg editor doesn't allow me to do. Any ideas?
Thank you
I use a third-party Asian IME (input method editor) to display Asian characters.
This IME used to work really well with other phones, but with TP2, some of the symbols don't come out well.
For example, Fn+H comes out as "\", not ";" , and Fn+J comes out as "/" not ":". The latter problem is very annoying, because it basically prevents entering web address with the sliding keyboard.
When I raised this issue with the developer, they said the IME has worked with almost every PDA-phone, including Touch Pro, but the non-Microsoft standard keyboard layout of Touch Pro2 is keeping it from working properly and there is nothing they can do about it.
Is it true that the keyboard layout of TP2 does not conform to some kind of Microsoft standard?
If so, is there any way to fix it?
Hi!
I have installed XDAndroid on my Touch pro 2, and I'm very pleased with that. The only problem is that the keymaps that I can find don't match my keyboard, and I kinda need some of the missing keys. So really what I'm wondering is, how much work would it be to make a keymap that fits this keyboard with the Fn keys included:
Won't happen (yet)
Android doesen't support non ASCII characters like our beloved ÆØÅ.. At least not on the HW side..
Oh, that's truly sad. It's pretty much the same with the German keymap (with Umlauts and other special (FN) characters). At least, it works with the onscreen keyboard.
I wondered how this is solved for the German Motorola Milestone - there you can hold the a/o etc. keys and then you can choose a special character on the screen (just like on the onscreen keyboard). Not a perfect solution either but better than none.
I would really appreciate a solution using the FN key.
hi, i switched over from a Blue Angel then to an Opal (which broke c/o a big bamboo spear) to an MDA.
which ROM here uses a virtual phonepad like the HTC Touch series use?
i searched for some here, but they all have this bar on top that forms words (kinda like a T9 that can't be removed, even though its off) whenever you tap a key, not like the regular one (i remember on my Opal) where you tap a key and it inputs it (something like a Nokia's keypad scheme or other brand's candy bar phone keypad scheme)
mmm there are many virtual keyboards like Swype... or EZinput... or resco or... try to search and tell us wich one was that
i found what i was looking for
the opal phonepad one
