Sorry for the more than likely, stupid question, but what exactly does the Extended ROM do? Am I right in thinking its just the additional settings that the providor wants to add, customise... etc...
The reason I ask is I have a T-Mobile MDA Pro, which I've upgraded the Radio from 1.06.00 to 1.11.00, and noticed great differences.
I've upgraded the CE Image to 1.30.77 with the lates QTek WWE Rom, again, it's solved problems...
But should I upgrade the Extended ROM to 1.30.230? Or stick with T-Mobile's 1.20.120? Will I notice any benefits, or will I just lose T-Mobile's customisations, gain some which are of no benefit, and muck up me phone???

There's two official T-Mobile ROMs for the MDA Pro, the latest being available on the T-Mobile site, and also on this FTP

I uploaded the latest T-Mobile extended rom to FTP a while ago. I have installed the QTEK ext rom (well, most of it), and then I run the T-Mobile cabs to add accounts for MMS etc etc.
Just hard reset the device and then do a soft reset before the extended rom installs, then cherry-pick the bits of the ext rom that you wish to install.

Rogers have released the Excalibur as the S621 here. I hope to get a unit later in the week. All reports indicate its identical to the HTC model & runs WM5.
I've gotten my S621 and it is the same as the s620. I paid the std. 20GBP to unlock it from imei-check.co.uk.
The only issue is that the SDA Application unlock does not work.. it gives the error "The phone is unlockable" and you can't modify the registry becuase the sda application unlock does not work.
I haven't attempted to flash the ROM yet as I don't have a way of backup up my current ROM in case it doesn't work or I don't like it.
Well i will be the first to ask if anyone who gets this, can u find the apps for rogers radio and video on demand? This will be huge for all HSPDA Users on rogers here in this forum
I'm not a rogers customer so I wouldn't be able to use those feature. I'm using the phone with Fido.
I reflashed my phone with the excalibur rom.

I can send from my HTC S620 but when people reply to it or send me MMS back I get msg expired on server error
I get the same message has expired error when ppl send me MMS, I get the notification but when I click on download it gives me the error.

What I like about the Rogers version is, there's no ugly Rogers logo silkscreend on it.
it's basically the unbranded HTC phone.

yes, I but the startup sound is rather loud aye!!?? I also didnt like the layout of the "desktop" where the icons are for the apps. HTC has a folder called "Office" for the clearvuw apps.
I just flashed my S621 this morning. Nice. I took a copy of the Rogers Desktop and sound from the Windows Folder first.
Just waiting on a WM6 build to be released. A few more weeks I guess.

Yeah I am looking for a way, since there are varried ways for each type of unit. for now I would ask that you look in the windows folder for anything relating to the rogers applications.
This thread in the wiki may also be of help, but i can't make head or tails of it

I didnt see any rogers specific apps in the Windows folder. I copied the .XML for the 2 rogers home Screens and also some sounds. The Rogers sound.
One of the reasons I wanted to flash the phone.. when turning it on it makes a LOUD rogers sound with the Carrier animation. Nice, but you cant change it or turn it off.
Anyway, the phone is Flashed as the HTC S620 now, and I will sell my original S620
what the ROM ver you flashed in it ?
What is your ROM ver now ? is it lower than Rogers Branded ? what radio ver on it now ?
also can you upload it if its higher ver, or pm me , if you dont mind

Yeah Cingul....AT&T has done that to their newer Roms as well but it was the sound of a jet flying.
The search continues for video and radio on demand apps

sorry, I cant remember. I booted it only twice, then flashed it.
I sold my original HTC S620 last night. Using the Rogers S621 as S620
Has anyone figured out the message has expired problem? I can send mms no problem, but cannot receive!

I got it to work! Here is what I did:
Start -> settings -> connections -> gprs -> menu -> add:
Connects to: secure wap network (use any but make sure you use the same in the next step)
Access point: media.com
User name: media
Password: mda01
IP address: 172.25.0.107
Start -> messaging -> highlight mms and click menu -> settings -> menu -> mmsc settings
Now you can either add a new one or edit the existing one that is in there.
MMSC URL: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
WAP gateway: 172.25.0.107
Port: 80
Connect via: Secure WAP Network (must be the same one you used in the step above)
WAP version: WAP 2.0
That should do it. If it gives you an error about the download being expired, just hit the menu and click download anyway.
Have the ROGERS ROM the Spanish ???
I have one unlocked DASH fron T Mobile and need the spanish but after more of 20 days can't find any ROM to change to spanish.
My DASH have the original HTC ROM.
I have flashed 45 days ago.
Please, lt me know about.
Has anyone with this unit on Rogers been able to apply new themes? I've tried a few, but can't get them to work.
Now it is possible i'm just doing this wrong, and if so, does anyone have a site with some themes they know will work?

I have the s621. I'm not sure about unlocking it. I'd like to avoid brickin' it.
copy this file to your phone, and then run it - got this from their website.
That link you posted is to install Root Certificates for self signed or wildcard Security Certs. I work for Rogers and have extensive knowledge of this device, and the problem is that Rogers application locks this device. The only way i could get around this stuff, in order to edit the registry, install unsigned applications (themes included) was to install the T-Mo release of WM6.
Uhm, I don't think that's true. I installed this cab, and used the SDA unlocker, and I can edit the registry, install software, change themes, etc. I don't have the tmobile ROM.

Same here. I just got a Rogers s621 and have been installing everything with no locking issues whatsoever. So Rogers did not application lock the device they sent me.
can anyone with the Rogers HTC s621 post the ROM. I'm trying to enable Name Display feature to work with all cooked roms.
My S621 seemed to have come application unlocked..
I got it just the other day, and installed Facade, and a few other programs.
But its weird, it seems like it was application unlocked for the first...5 programs or something
Got to PocketNester and Mobile Office and it gave me the insufficient permissions error.
I grabbed the SP_AllowCertificateInstall.cab file from this thread, ran it and was able to install Nester and MOffice.
I CID unlocked my T-Mobile Dash I got, Ran the rogers WM6 rom and installed fine.
I coudlent install any applications though and came across this post. Ran the Rogers Cert cab file and then sureal unlocker which auto edits the registry and installing applications perfectly.
This is a awsome find.

I am having a hard time telling which ROM is the the actual official ATT / Cingular 8525 Rom for Mobile 6?
I still cannot find any trace of it on the AT&T or HTC America Websites.
I also do not really know which ROM I can run properly on the Cingular network without running into configuration and proxy issues?

Yea... I loaded that moths ago. It's the Mobile 5 upgrade, not Mobile 6. They added a few PTT features and re-logo'd from Cingular to AT&T.

You can't find it on AT&T's or HTC's sites because they haven't "officially" released the WM6 ROM for the 8525yet. It's supposed to be coming soon.
I've been using one of the "unofficially leaked" WM6 ROMs and it works fine on my 8525.

you will not run into these issues you speak of on any WM6 rom since they settings can be entered manuly or there are cingular cabs floating around that load them for you its very simple try google search for cingular MMS settings and see what you find. then look for cingular ISP settings its very simple given the info on this website.
Also unfortunately, HTC doesn't allow us USA customers to register our devices for their e-club so the AT&T WM6 upgrade will only be out when AT&T says it's ready. Until then I suggest using leaked official rom found here in the forums or vp3G's custom at&t rom. Both will set your device up for use automatically.
So which one should I choose? I really don't know which one will work? Can I use a standard one? Is there any special proxy settings that need to be entered?

and no it will not relock you phone i did the unlock and installed wm6 then i sold the phone and reinstalled wm5 with no problem. call tmo just to be safe

I went from tmwm5 to tmwm6 back to tmwm5 to rogers wm6 to htc wm6 to kavana wm6.1.
As long as I stayed with Tmobile roms I had no lock problems. I had to run software to unlock the other roms. Which would make sense since my phone is branded Tmobile. It really doesn't matter anymore because you can unlock for free now.

that was my first attempt on upgrading my first smartphone, just to begin in this new world (for me)..
right now i'm running kavana's 6.1 and i won't flash any carrier rom again.
