2 questions. I have K's FINAL installed and it is working great, however I cannot figure out how to put my own ringtones on the phone, no matter where I put them, it doesnt seem to see them.
Does anyone know where they need to go, or what I need to change in the settings?
ALso, I am unable to connect to Media Net now .. All my info is correct, but it will not connect. I can get to the internet, but not medianet... (ie. mobitv and radio wont work, and I cannot reach the medianet homepage.
Thanks for all the help!
run file explorer and goto the media file
tap and hold the .mp3 or .wav and in the option you should be able to see set as ringtone.
Tried that, it gives me the options of cut, copy, rename, delete, send, beam
I figured out the medianet problem. I needed to go to device.home
However I cannot connect with my MobiTV for some reason....... Anyone know why not maybe?

Have you configured your internet settings? If you've used the Connection setup (don't know if he includes it in his ROM), make sure you're on the "Media Net" Profile.
Go to settings > connections> connections > select networks. Make sure "Media Net" is selected. You also might have to screw around with the proxy settings, I think they need to be on for device.home, but some programs may need it off (e.g. TeleNav).

One of the things that annoys me about my Dash is its habit of attempting to call home every time it boots up. I always recei a number from some service complaining that I have an unknown phone number. It would be nice to know how to turn this off.
Also, is there some way of generally making a distinction between EDGE and WiFi connections so I can avoid burning data if I don't have to? AT&T's configuration has EDGE set us as an Internet connection, and a proxy set up from The Internet to WAP Network. It's nice that Skype and Fring make a distinction between cell data and WiFi, and I'd like to carry that over o mail, MSN Messenger, ShoZu and browsers if possible. I'm willing to experiment since I have unlimited EDGE for the rest of this month.
Any ideas?
Are you referring to a received text message? Cause you'll get that if you don't disable the myfaves when you use it on the at&t network.

Yep, that's it. How do I go about disabling MyFaves? And is it possible to re-enable it later? There's the possibility that once our contract is up (or at least, once my contract is up) we'll be jumping ship to go with T-Mobile.
There's a shortcut in \Windows\Startup that you move out. I forget the name at the moment, but it should be clear.
What he said.... you will need to rename the file (whatever you want)... reboot and then you can delete it.
He can't rename the file if it's in use. Download a task manager like celetask. Open program and go to processes, kill myfavapp (I think its called), then go to the \Windows\Startup folder and remove the shortcut to the My Fav application.
Oh really? Because that is exactly how I did it. (And yes, it was running under the processes)
I've never found a successful way of renaming or moving the my5service.exe file in WM5. I did it without any problems in WM6 but I don't use it. I've searched many threads and all say recommend the same methods like deleting MyFav from the Startup Folder (which I don't see like so many). It simply can't be done or something since it's a ROM/System/ReadOnly. I tried unchecking System/ReadOnly using RescoExplorer then tried moving it using Resco and Activesync. No Go. If anybody knows how to take out my5 in WM5, please post it.
P.S.: I am using Celetask 2.2
i am running WM6.0 what i did was to go to "Comm Manager" and i turned off the "Data" & "Phone radio" icons, i restarted the phone, with the radio off i was able to delete the file, after deleting the file i turned back on the above and restarted again, no rogue text any longer
good luck
Internet & MMS not working, after Tmobile settings set properly(?) (Tzones), RegEdit?
I used a cab file called "tmobyjoe599" to set my internet settings on my 8525 flashed with Faria's 6.1.
I am able to get to google, but when going to any site like m.myspace.com, etc, it locks on "connecting..." and the circle freezes. I can close the IE app, but then the OS gets sloow, and it doesn't ever end the IE task when I attempt to. Short of a soft reset, the device gets frozen.
When sending an MMS message, it gives me a sending envelope icon with an arrow, showing it's leaving, with a progress meter that gets to 95% then stops. Never goes past that.
I was messing with some Regedit keys for the server for the weather app and may have messed something up that way. Is there a way to reset these settings short of a Hard Reset?
Is there a valid cab file that will set the Tzones $5.99 plan internet & mms settings for WM6.1 for an 8525? I see settings all over this site and others, but none seem to be in the right places/settings menus as my load?
Much appreciated... I read this forum constantly, but hardly ever post.
JT
Yeah. I have the cab for the 5.99 and the 29.99.
The 39.99 never worked for me so I don't use it anymore. The 29.29 version works perfectly for me. I like the fact they make the allowed mms size larger.
Here you are. Enjoy.
Oh yeah. In the future you probably want to do a search and it will show. I'm sure you'll get that response from many a veteran around here.
Please note, I have already used the tmobyjoe599.cab file (I have it on my storage card), and even after a hard reset, after setting this cab, this is when I experience the lockup issues. Running this .cab doesn't reset the registry server settings, does it?

I don't know. You may be forced to either do a hard reset or reflash your rom.
Use Pim Backup 2.8 to back up all your data and do a hard reset. Then rerun the settings cab of your choice and see what happens.
Your registry changes may be the problem.
did you use advanced config or any other app to change the IE cache/cookies location to your SD card? I have seen your exact symptoms caused by this.. try setting them back to the default location
Did PIMbackup. I'll ck advancedconfig program to make sure I didn't change anything in there... Been in there a few times, not sure if I did.
After that, if it's still not resolved I will hard reset, then do the tmobyjoe599 cab, and see if it works and report back.
I checked Locations tab of advancedconfig and the Default storage location for downloads, ie cache location, ie cookies location and ie history location were all pointed to sd card. I reset those to device, and will ck shortly.
Internet works now you guys rock.
hummm i need step by step i guess
I downloaded the cab file for my t-zones, and it worked..only problem was that its slow and certain web sites cant be shown, mainly web sites with a password like gmail and a few others, how do I fix this?
I've installed the 3VOLUTION SERIES 3VO.1.40.070109 and I noticed that although I can configure the MMS settings in GPRS, I can't configure the additional options required in the MMS settings (per T-Mobile's instructions) as these options do not exist.
I also tried the ArcSoft software, although it installs it seems to be only designed for PPC's or Windows Mobile Professional as the menus bleed beneath the S621's screen size. Although I was able to configure it, I couldn't confirm my settings and exit the screen.
I also tried the later ROM, but I experienced too many issues with my Internet connections that I didn't experience with the earlier ROM.
Are there any options for establishing the required MMS settings with this ROM or is there a WM6 Standard version of ArcSoft that I could use to enable MMS settings to work?
Thank you,
Tim
what countries tmobile mms setting do you need? perhaps then we can help find you a solution. you should be using the 3VO.2.00.071809 release since it is the most recent and is nearly flawless. although ookba had made and additional settings cab for earlier version for mms setting. i'll send you the cab in a pm if you don't want to reflash to the newest version
I have T-Mobile USA, came over with my HTC-S621 from Suncom. The settings are configured in the 'settings, connection, gprs area'. But in the actual MMS area which is now threaded with SMS, there is no longer an option to input the required settings. The option just no longer exists... must be a 6.5 feature or something.
Thank you,
Tim
attached cab here since i couldn't send it to you.
Thank you! I'll try it out and let you know.

if it doesn't work you should reflash to the latest version and set you connection setting the tmobile usa. it should fix everything from that point. i got my phone in israel and the settings work fine with tmobile usa. additionally if you don't want to flash again reset you connection with the connection setup found in the start menu and restart your phone.
I installed the update, but the '3VO Settings Update.cab' file doesn't seem to address the missing MMS settings field.
Here are the T-Mobile instructions.
T-Mobile MMS Settings:
Setting up the data account <---- This portion is available for setup.
1. Tap Start.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap on the Connections tab.
4. Tap the Connections icon.
5. Tap Add a new modem connection under T-Mobile GPRS.
6. Enter PictureMessaging in the Enter a name for the connection field.
7. Tap to select Cellular Line (GPRS) from the Select a modem drop down list.
8. Tap Next.
9. Enter wap.voicestream.com in the Access point name field.
10. Tap Next.
11. Tap Finish.
Setting up the MMS profile <--- this part isn't available in the new ROM.
1. Tap Start again.
2. Tap Messaging.
3. Tap Menu.
4. Tap MMS Configuration.
5. Tap the Servers tab.
6. Tap New.
7. Enter PictureMessaging in the Server Name field.
8. Enter 216.155.165.050 in the Gateway field.
9. Enter 8080 in the Port number field.
10. Enter http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms in the Server address field.
11. Tap to select T-Mobile GPRS from the Connect via drop down list.
12. Tap to select WAP 2.0 from the WAP Version dropdown.
13. Tap OK.
14. Scroll to PictureMessaging and tap Set As Default.
15. Tap OK.
The new MMS profile is now configured and ready for use.
Any other ideas?
Thank you,
Tim
These are not present in the NRG27 Energy 6.5 ROM either. This is the first I heard of these setting too. Although that does not mean much since I have never used picture messages.
I just go to start/accessories and run the connection setup, set my phone to USA and T-mobile and it works as it should...my MMS messages go through just fine
Maybe posting this in the correct thread would be a good idea??
There is a "MMS Settings" selection in Settings.

I posted it here because once a thread gets as large as yours a post can get lost in the 'noise'.
I did look for a MMS Settings page under settings, but I can't find one. I also tried the Internet Connections Wizard but that didn't work for me. In fact, using that messed up my other connections.
I used my SbBackup to restore it back so that my Internet would work again. However, I really don't think it's necessarily your ROM, I think that perhaps my SUNCOM Sim Chip doesn't want to cooperate with T-Mobile or something.
But I was hoping to find the menu page to configure the settings in MMS to try again, but it seems in WM6.5, Microsoft didn't think they were needed.
I would just run into a T-Mobile store and see if they could help me, but I don't think they would want to help me since I'm not on a ROM that they'd customarily support.
With exception to the MMS, everything else is working great!
Thank you,
Tim

the reason why people think that a post will get lost inside of any thread is 'cause people don't search, or search inside a thread. If a thread has 100 pages and anyone has a question, but doesn't want to sit thru 100 pages, they should use the search this thread feature a the top, that's available when you're reading a thread, you do a search like any other time except this feature will only search inside the opened thread.
By making multiple threads with different questions about the same rom, app, system, bug, whatever, all it does when someone actually does a search, it gives them that many more results , that are gonna have to be read in order to find the answer.
That's the main reason for all of us to encourage everyone to please post questions on the proper thread, instead of making a new one.
Why the does it replace my newer excel spreadsheets during a sync? After I sync it, I would open the file from the pda, make changes and save it. But during the save, excel mobile prompts me that the file format is unsupported. If I save and sync it, it will get overwritten with the older file on my desktop.
I'm using Excel 2003 in Vistax64 and have FileFormatConverters.exe installed.
in windows mobile device center there is a setting for this situation which one to overwrite if changes happened. if you change documents a lot on the go, you should set the blueangel as priority device to overwrite the desktop documents. check the settings in "mobile device settings" -> "manage a partnership" and then set "replace items on desktop" then, whenever there is a conflict like that, the BA gets the priority.

Too risky for me. If I lose everything in my pda, which happens once in awhile, it will overwrite everything in my desktop with nothing. Theoretically, it should sync things, but I could have sworn it once erased contacts and appointments on my desktop.

I gave it a shot again and switched it to "replace items on desktop" and it deleted half of my templates such as memo.
normally, it should only make use of this option when a file was changed on the pc and the device. since it cannot "combine" the files or compare their content, it needs to know, which one to overwrite. it should not affect deleting.
the situation you described in your prior post is risky, like you said. my standard setting is "replace on the desktop" and i.e. when i hard reset my device and there is no pim data on it, it still does not delete everything in outlook because there is no conflict. it is still syncing and not a one way street, which is why in that case it should transfer new items to the device.
i hope, since you said before, it was risky, that you made backups of those files, or that you can at least restore an earlier version using volume shadow copies.
as i said before, activesync/wmdc is not perfect and behaves strangely sometimes. maybe there is no official solution for that problem. maybe you need to bypass it.
if, for instance, you know, that a file you have on the BA is newer than the server version, you could start a manual file transfer and not sync that file/folder, but overwrite it, either cradled, or using the sd card or a bluetooth share, a lan share, accessible with wi-fi or gprs with vpn, whatever data connection comes to mind.
or maybe, some other user reading this can come up with a good idea. i am sorry that my advice did not work but instead possibly harmed your pim data. i personally don't sync files and never had troubles with syncing in general. that option always worked for me.

Yes, I always have backups in my desktop and storage card.
I think the problem with "replace items on the device" is with Excel 2003 compatibility issues between the desktop and Excel Mobile. Not sure how to get around this but to constantly keep backups on my SD card before a sync.
These are most likely stupid questions for you experts, but it is driving me crazy. I am using the stock AT&T rom that came with the phone.
1) What do I use WiFi or AT&T? I also have a wireless modem setup at my office and at home. Can I connect to these? What is "Mobile Web" for?
2) How do I know what browser I am connecting to? I have Opera and Internet Explorer. Most of the time Opera does not every connect. I have even downloaded Opera 10, but I cannot find it.
1. If both are present, use whatever you want. WiFi can sometimes be faster, so if its available you may prefer WiFi when its available. But ATT's internet will work almost everywhere that has a cell phone signal.
2. I think "Mobile Web" is what the browser shortcut on the HTC interface is named on the stock ATT ROM, if I remember correctly (I'm not running stock on mine, its just called "Internet" on mine). Its just a shortcut to the browser. If you use this tab, it automatically opens to Opera.
The icon for Opera 10 should be in root directory of the Start Menu. If not, use the File Explorer (Start>Tool) and browse for "Opera10.lnk" to find where it was installed to.
PAP or CHAP Authentication?
What is this and what should my setting be? It is in the Advanced Network in the Connections Folder. I am trying to figure out why my Microsoft Mail will not come in automatically anymore. I have been playing around with my phone a lot and may have changed something that I cannot figure out what it was.
Another question is the Microsoft Direct Push - should this be on or off?

I have Opera 9, but have not found anything for Opera 10.
Did you actually install Opera 10, or just download it (somewhat common error)? It will download as a .cab file, which you then have to unpack and install by clicking on it.
If it was installed, it would show up in Remove Programs. Go to Start>Settings>System>Remove Programs, and see if Opera 10 is there.

Try not to mess around with too many things, if you don't know what they do (such as seeing the tweak on these forums). You can mess things up pretty badly. Or at least keep track of what the default option was before you change it, so you can change it back. Although if all else fails, you can hard reset (Start>Settings>System>Empty Storage). But you will lose all your data and return the phone to its factory settings.
If you want your email automatically pushed from a MS Exchange server (such as work email) when Direct Push should be on. Where do you see the setting for this?

Ah, yes. That one.
I think that will cause the phone to push MS Exchange emails to your phone whenever they arrive, and cause shortened battery life. Better to just schedule ActiveSync to download your emails periodically (unless you are really that dependent on getting your email instantly). In which case, you can turn this option "off". Or if you don't use any MS Exchange services at all, you can also turn it off.

This is what I had to pay extra for due to having to get the e-mails (for work) when they come in if I am not in my office. The company is paying the bill.
