Hello all,
I have tried unlocking my blue angel through the sim unlock tool,
ive trawled the pages of the thread to try find an answer. Ive posted in that thread what i get when i try to unlock. Could people please have a look and see if they have any solutions. I am just wondering whether this unlock sim tool will allow me to use the phone on the THREE network?
Many thanks
Sportyfr
anyone please?
You know, you are not being very descriptive.
Where did you get the unlock tool?
How did you run it?
What errors are showing up on the screen when you put the SIM into the phone?
What model of phone do you have?
the blueangel is NOT 3g (except the cdma harrier version) so no you wont be able to use a THREE sim card in it, (or if you can three will cut you off quick as they dont like people not using their network (they us o2s network for 2g so whenever someones in only 2g signal area its costing 3 money))

Following Buzz's installation instuctions I am stuck with these two items.
9. Activate Radio even without Sim in it saying something about no Sim)
15. Flash your original Radio ROM. Do not upgrade the bootloader until you restored an original radio rom.
I think I am just about there with number 15 (with the resource on this site) but can not find anything on #9.
I know a lot of people say that it is already unlocked, but it seems unlocked to a few networks.

hi, XDA Execs should be unlocked
Does it ask you to enter the unlock code if u enter another sim?
If it doesn't then it's unlocked as far as i know.
What makes you believe that it's locked to a few netwroks, maybe it's because you're trying to find a non-existent umts signal...
Turning the radio on means turning flight mode off (and for the purposes of unlocking you do that without a sim)
Hope that helps.
I take it the UMTS is another name for 3G. My BT account is a normal non 3G account. Is it a case that I need to alter some of the settings, the networks it lists are...
@VF-UK
@ O2-UK
@ Orange
Is ther anything I should try....
umm, what happens if you insert a non-o2 sim into your phone?
If it's continually searching for a signal, it might be trying to search for a dodgy 3G/UMTS signal
in which case try going to phone settings, then in the band tab , select GSM instead of auto or wcdma
In the worse case scenario, if/when you flashed the radio 0.00.00, you might have had some problem with your USB (See the unlocking thread)
Thanks for all your help.
I think I have now got to the bottom of this. The fact is that BT use the VF network. The phone logs onto this, so I guess this is normal. However the signal strength never gets above 2 bars, is this normal?

Not anymore, dude. BT sold BT Cellnet (now O2 plc) a little while ago, but now they have started their own mobile service again (called BT Mobile) BUT piggybacking Vodafone's network.
Hi, I have spent nearly a whole day searching for an answer to this...
After having been wowed by wm6.1 on my tornado (thanks to all the work done on this site), I have made the big mistake of getting a contract with Three (UK 3G provider), who it seems lock their sims to work only on phones provided by them.
Is there a way I can flash or hack any 3g windows mobile phone so it will work with this sim? If I put it in my tornado I get the message "The SIM card is missing or is not valid", and from the searching I have done so far I believe an unlocked 3g phone will give a similar message.
Will it just require the CID to be set to the operators number or will it be something in the radio part of the firmware?
I hope someone can help me because I can't bare the thought of having to use a 'normal' mobile
Hi everyone,
i recently picked up a G2 on a US trip and am currently trying to set it up to work on the AU vodafone network.
i have gone through the sim "unlock" process, so it should be free to accept any sim card. (it also doesnt prompt me for an unlock code anymore, so im assuming it worked)
when i put the vodafone sim card in the phone, it detects the sim (there is the sim folder in the menu, with the vodafone sim options) and when i use "*#*#4636#*#* i see that there is something in the signal strength (-97dBm 8 asu).
BUT
when i goto settings ->wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> network operators i get an error saying "error while searching for networks"
any ideas?
Shouldn't this be in the G2 forum, not the DZ one ?
Thread moved to G2 General.
I am very interested to know how everything works out for you when you get it resolved.
Im moving to Melbourne from San Francisco in 3 weeks and I am on the fence if I should get a Iphone 4 or a HTC g2
*currently own a HTC Evo ..sadly i have to sell it

welcome to the club my friend
Unfortunately we have the same issue as you but we haven't find a solution yet. So far i have figured out that the phone after unlocking cannot read properly CID and MNCMCC codes from sim.

5 days now i am trying for a solution. So far nothing to say. Just that users with same problem increase day by day. This might be good as htc will have to pay attention.
i dont know if its me, or if anyone else has noticed this, but if you change the band (auto - USA - Euro - Japan - Aus - Aus2)
then go and try to search for networks, the speed that the error comes up is different... its always the same error though....

You are right about that.
hi, i guess i need to join this club .. any progress for the solution?
I'm using a G2 on Vodafone AU and having no problems at all ...
If I click search networks it sort of just stops immediately with VodafoneAU down the bottom.
The one issue I'm having is that numbers are formatted for US ... anyone know how I change this?
I'm not sure if this is a real long-shot but I had some strange problems with my old Vodafone sim in a HTC Magic. I ended up just going into a Vodafone store and asking for a new SIM and the problems vanished immediately. They give you a new SIM on the spot free so it may be worth a try?
Is your phone working unlocked with the tmobile sim? If it isn't you're got the problem a lot of people have been having with unlocking the G2.
Otherwise, try rebooting your phone with your AU sim search for networks automatically and enter your APN settings. Alternatively if it doesnt find networks, go to Vodafone to get a new sim card. I'm also on Vodafone and I'm not having any problems with my current Tmobile Phone (Cliq) and G2 coming in the mail
Fixed by rooting and gfree
Hi! I had this exact same problem: unlocked a T-mobile G2 bought in the US so that I could use it on Greece's Vodaphone network. After unlocking and trying to check for networks, it would just say "Error while searching for networks".
Solution: I found the solution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Subsidy_Unlock.2C_SuperCID.2C_and_Radio_S-OFF which describes an extra security measure that was taken on these phones and why you get this error because of it. The fix, described in detail on that page, involves routing your phone and then running a program to change this security "feature".
I followed the directions on that wiki page and it worked perfectly! It now connects to my vodaphone network here, and can see other networks that are around.
Note that as this is altering the software on your phone, it probably voids any warranty. But, I'll say with my US t-mobile G2 it worked very smoothly.
Hope this gives some insight to any others having this problem!
I have the tp2 us cellular phone its a cdma with a sim slot under the battery. It shows the sim is unlocked in the security setting. I have done the hard sl flash and added mighyrom to the phone. What it comes down to what i'm trying to do is make so that I'm able to use it with tmobile/iwireless for the sim card I have. When I switch to gsm I get no network found but when it boots its says its found the network for the iwireless but i'm not able to connect to in the settings. It shows that i have a 2.18.00WV radio. Not sure how I set it up so that i can find my network for the tmobile in iowa and get connected to it. I've search high and low in the search and no answers your help is much appreciated
I guess try updating the radio? 2.18 is pretty old, I'm on 2.37.
Also, I don't think a WV radio is unlocked. I'm pretty sure that's still SIM locked.
hSPL and SIM unlock are two different things .

The sim may say it is unlocked but it is probably unlocked for non-us networks. If you have the WV radio then you are NOT fully sim unlocked.
You need to go here:

I heard that if after Hardspling the US Cellular tp2 you install an early version of the sprint shipped Rom and then install Mighty Rom. You will be able to use the TP2 with Tmobile or any other GSM network. Since you are already HSPLed ( Imean your phone not you personally , it will not be hard to try.
Hi,
I opened another thread regarding safest method to change from unlocked stock os to the T-Mobile release for Wi-Fi calling, possibly in wrong area as somewhat related to T-Mobile, however my main worry is ensuring I will have full 4g/LTE support, I am awaiting a sim card of a T-Mobile mvno, but I've seen several places I'd likely not be able to even use 3g without enabling the bands required, I've come across various guides .
Several said to use ##3424# or something alike(I'm out right now so can't confirm) to get into diagnostics, this does not work, I can however use the *#*#3424#*#*(again might be incorrect code) however this is self check options and to calibrate vibration etc, unable to connect with qpst with this.
Any help would be helpful, I purchased the phone second hand unlocked to use when I visit the US, I know it's unlocked and works in UK, just require it for use in US as I use an m9 as my main phone.
Would be nice to get the Wi-Fi calling function but not important.
Any help on how to go about this would be great.
Regards,

Well I Have A T-Mobile RUU Thread I Made That You Could Use, It's Not Set For The US Or UK, Just For The T-Mobile Carrier
You Would Need A Windows Computer To Do This Tho. Reply Back If You Want The Link
