I purchased a T-Mo Dash off of eBay and when booting the phone it freezes at the T-Mo splash screen. Is this an easy fix?
I'm coming from a Blackberry so I don't know much about WM yet.
You can try removing the micro-sd card before turning on your device.
If this doesn't help maybe a hard reset can fix the problem:
1. press both softkeys (the ones on both sides of the direction pad)
2. while keeping the keys pressed, pres the power button for approx. 1,5 secs.
3. still keep the softkeys pressed until a message appears, which gives you instructions to reformat the device
good luck

Guys, need help... can't figure out if it is a soft or a hard problem...
Have had SX66 for 3 years. Almost never a problem (except for occasional thing when people could not hear me, I could hear them, but after soft reset that thing usually corrected itself).
However, just recently got a real problem.
- Can't power it off. Power buttom only works on powering on, but not on powering off.
- At the same time, the volume window pops up (with two volume sliders, "on", "vibrate", and "off), and the left slider automatically slides down on its own, preventing me from accessing anything else. When I try to do something else, go to Programs, or else, this freaking Volume window keeps popping up, and left slider keeps going down and stays down there.
When I try to increase volume, it keeps going down right after I raise it. And the volume window is almost constantly popped up.
From time to time, it disappears, allowing me to do something for several seconds or even minutes, but then pops up again.
Yesterday, I even managed to do something for several minutes without it, and even managed to turn SX66 off, although I had to press the button for a second longer than usual to turn it off. Today, no luck, can't power it off. If I press it for a bit longer, it just goes in "dimmed" screen mode, but stays powered on.
Any advice?
Thanks.
I guess, I'll have to try to clean the power button and volume slider on the side. Looking for good disassembly instructions. Found one, but more would be appreciated...

I have the same problem. I was starting to think that there is no way to turn of BA . Any help?
I have the same problem, only that mine is a HTC touch dual (niki).
the volume screen keeps popping up, and does a "volume down" command... sometimes it goes away, sometimes it comes back...
:S
Ive got a similar problem ive upgraded my BA to wm 6.1 (Xplod) the problem that i am having is that i cant seem to power it off..only way that im able to do that is by removing the battery..when i keep the power button pressed only the backlight turns off but no the phone..How to i power it off?
and secondly ive a problem with the keyboard..while writing some times i press a key and it keeps typing that for example i write s it keeps writing ssssss or giving spaces untill i press something else...is this a software issue or a hardware issue..cant seem to figure it out
I know this thread has been a while but if anyone has the same problem, you'd probably be interested about what i did.
well i had the same problem of the volume going down by itself and the volume icon pops which basically lets you do nothing.
tried all the approaches thinking it was a software issue. but i finally went nuts and took my torx screwdriver, opened the blue angel and tore off the part in the motherboard where the outer volume lever is attached to.
It worked.
So if you could with the fact you wont a direct volume adjustment at the side, you could probably try it
I was playing with my phone and lock it with a password...
I can't remenber what I put there...
Any way to revert this??...
it's a HTC621 and I'm using the htc rom...
found on net...
---- start crtl+<c> / crtl+<v>
This can be tricky, So I know from trial and error, Since there are not many guides out there that explain in detail on how to do this, with this particular device, I have decided to go ahead and make one up for you guys.
Here are the steps:
Step One:
Preform power down *Hold the power button* Till the phone is 100% powered down and all you see is a black screen
*keep in mind if your device is plugged into a power source or computer link this will not work!*
Step Two:
(Use both hands while doing this it will be much easier!)
Place 1 finger on each of the Soft keys.
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j271/thesr5_2006/dash.gif
Step Three:
Press the power Button and hold for no more than 2 sec well holding the two soft keys (do not hold the power button till the phone turns on) ONLY PRESS THE POWER BUTTON DO NOT TURN THE PHONE ON. After pressing the power key keep your fingers on the Two Soft keys until you see a the phone turn on and a black screen come up with white writing. Once you see this screen Press the Green Send key and there you go you have just performed a hard reset on the T-Mobile dash without using the settings screen on the phone. 8)
---- end crtl+<c> / crtl+<v>
holpe it helps some one with similar problems...
pls someone make it sticky...

I have a problem with my bro's Kaiser. He was pulling off the battery a lot and finally his kaiser won't boot...
There are some strange things happening though. First of all when the phone is turned off and user charges the phone:
1) yellow led turns on(and it stays like that for about 10-15 seconds)
2) yellow led turns of(for about 2 seconds)
3) the whole screen flashes white for less than a second
4) go back to 1)
It seems the battery isn't charging then.
Furthermore I cannot get into bootloader menu(the tri-colored menu) no matter what I do... Tried holding camera and power, holding the stylus in the hole and holding camera+power...
When turning on during smart mobility screen radio, SPL etc. infomration doesn't appear, then when linux texts start to run trough screen the phone resets after few seconds, even on battery from my kaiser.
I haven't been using android on Kaiser for looong time and I don't remember which button to hold to get into that menu with "holt alt+something to do something", I don't remember how it's called and failed while searching the information.
Can anyone help me? I want to boot the android, just that...
Hi All
I bought an HTC One V second hand last week and it was running fine up until yesterday. I bought a new Micro SD 32gb card and it seemed ok. I tried to download a map for skobbler (legally) but the thing kept stalling and slowing down. I had the no sim sign a couple of times as well as a disk type sign that I can't find in the HTC One V manual. Anyway, then I decided to turn off the device and take out the sd card. Booted but kinda slow. I finished with trying to boot the device with neither a sim nor micro sd inserted and the device wont boot properly.
I can charge, the orange light comes on and the yellow led was lit this morning to signify that it's fully recharged etc. When I connect the device to my PC there are two drives that appear on My computer but I can't access them.
I've tried the hard reset, holding down volume and power button but all I get is the three logos flashing at the bottom of the handset. They flash maybe 14 times then nothing. Once I let go of the buttons I get the the white screen 'HTC quietly brilliant' then nothing but black screen. It's weird because you can kind of see that the screen is on but it's black.
I will add that swiftkey was installed by a friend of mine and I didn't pay for it. The rest of the apps were purchased or free.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my first smartphone!

Is your one v rooted...?? Try getting into bootloader mode (power button + volume down key, long press both the keys simultaneously for at least 10 seconds and you should be in the bootloader mode) after that perform a factory reset from there ..i think it will fix your problem ..+ u should not use 32gb SD card on a single core device ..it will make one v really slow..
Good luck ...
EDIT-
Have sent you a message on xda check your messages
hmm i used a 32gb memory card
do what Pranav says
As far as I know it's not rooted - however I bought it 2nd hand. I've tried the volume and power button together but it just vibrates, goes to the white screen 'htc quietly brilliant' and then permanent black screen.
This sounds sort of like a brick....

1. Turn off your device as u do.
2. Then press volume down.
3. After pressing volume down press power key. Don't release volume down.
4. Don't release any key unless and until u go to hboot screen.
5. From that screen reset your phone.
Follow step 2,3 and 4 properly. Cause it wont go into hboot unless u do it properly.

Thanks guys, I finally managed to reset the device. Problem was it was really turning off - kept restarting so I had to press the buttons to restart and then press again before the device tried to boot. Appreciate the help.
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to rescue the contacts of a S4 mini with a completely broken screen (just black). I found some post stating:
First remove battery and reinsert, then press volume down, home and power button at once until the device vibrates, release and push volume up. Connect USB and flash the TWRP recovery with Odin. After removing/reinserting battery press volume up home and power. It should be in MTP mode.

As I can't see what happens on the phone I tried it several times but no luck. What happens is:
I press all the mentioned keys until it vibrates and when I release the buttons to press volume up, it vibrates again and a few seconds later the Samsung jingle is playing (I guess this is normal booting). Any idea, what I'm doing wrong?

depends what was causing your blank/black screen. If the cable has come loose then it will not work until it's reinserted.
What caused the black screen? Did you drop it?
Is there any sign of power in the screen? Is the black screen you mention caused by "no power" or "no image", do you think?
If no power seems to be getting to screen then you should take the back off and the inner cover and check the connectors, as first step. But could be other hardware failure (if not software).
