New extended Kitchen for Hermes
HERMES_DEV_v2.1_Build_19199.rar

Extended Kitchen for Trinity

Extended Kitchen for Herald
Thanks to misar, FreePK for helping with this new set of tools!
About the Kitchen
Hermes base: TMO UK 3.60.110
OS base: VF Kaiser UK 3.08.161.0 (Build 19199)
OEM Apps removed, but you need to clean up the OEMDrivers package
I did not do any changes to the OS, because it should be a clean base Kitchen for all of you
Full XIP editing supported by the Kitchen
New tool to merge all dsm files to one big file and delete all rgu's
I think the OEM package to SYS problem should be solved... but did not try it yet
How to use it
Requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package
OEM and SYS can be used as known
The content of ROM\XIP will be used to create a new XIP section for the OS
You don’t have to worry about relocating modules... add/remove whatever you like and the new tools will take care of relocating modules or freeing RAM
.VM and .ROM is updated automatically
Actually this Kitchen runs in auto mode, which means you only need to run BuildNB.bat to create the ROM. You can change that by editing the bat files; made it this way, because I don’t use the options in BuildOS.exe
I consider this a perfect port of the new build to this device
Replaced all XIP SYS packages (I did not just changed coredll.dll to get the new build number)
There were also boot.rgu changes my MS, those have been added too
SYS is completely untouched
Read this for download:
All donations are very welcome!
I need to buy a new device, because this time my Trinity is gone forever and I cannot use my girlfriends Artemis without being killed (by mistake I deleted all contacts last time I used it for testing... she was not very happy about that )
When you are getting money for the ROMs you cook using my kitchen, I would really appreciate a donation.
I'm not talking about 50% of you incomes, but one small donation would be fair I think.
To download the Kitchen click at "All donations are very welcome"
!!! This was only meant for ppl never donated for these tools and expecting donations for ROM's created using my Kitchen !!!
Thanks to all those who have donated already!
Additional things
RBS_Kit.rar (RealBigStorage)
For making it clean delete "OEM\OEMDrivers\OEM_FLASHDRV.DLL"
Happy cooking!

Finally an easy way to edit XIP. And I think it also work for WM6, is it?
Thanks Bepe!

Welcome back Bepe.
Do you release also this kitchen for trinity?

What's new?
- Full XIP editing
- New tool to merge all dsm files to one big file and delete all rgu's
- I think the OEM package to SYS problem should be solved... but did not try it yet

- The content of ROM\XIP will be used to create a new XIP section for the OS, you dont have to worry about relocating modules... add/remove whatever you like and the new tools will take care of relocating modules or freeing RAM
This tools are really beta, cos of University I don’t have enough time to finish them right now... but they can be used for Hermes without any problems.
Donations are always welcome! Cooks are not the best donators since it is easy possible to count the cooks donated for my RK on one hand... should I name them? I think no... but don’t worry I'm not making this just for money, also for fun
Base ROM: Hermes_TMO_UK_3.60.110
SYS: Full WM6.1 (I did no changes to it, so it is original)
OEM: OEMDrivers is old; all the other packages should be from WM6.1
ROM\XIP: Replaced MSXIPKernel, MSXIPKernelLTK by WM6.1 files (no changes to both packages)
WM6.1 build: 100% real 19716
This kitchen should be an example ... to create the temp\os-new.nb just run BuildNB.bat
It’s late... perhaps I have time to write more tomorrow... happy cooking!

hi,bepe, new four tool can't work,it shows Application can not be executed, because configuration is not valid. Problem can be resolved reinstalling application.

Looks like I don't know wtf I am doing. Running the BuildNB.bat I get the error:
"Creating 'dump' folder...
The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is in
correct. Please see the application event log for more detail." no idea what that means.

I get a similar issue. When I run BuildNB, it tries to launch BuildOS, but it says :
Code:
Creating 'dump' folder...
The system cannot execute the specified program.
Done!
If I copy across a different version of BuildOS, it will run, however it errors with "Access to the path '723fb954-d931-4348-b672-82a188e587b5.dsm is denied" when creating the registry... Looking further into it now...

Ah ha! That would also explain why insert.exe was failing... After installing the VC++ runtimes, it all seems to be doing what it is supposed to... Let the playing begin

Bepe, thanks for your great tools, can you tell me how to use buildxip.exe to build atom life XIP?Is it possible?thanks in advance!

i just made a rom using your kitchen
unfortunately, after i corrected the date and time,
it suddenly showed up: This concludes the beta test of this software release. Thank you very much for your time.... blahblahblah
that means i have to flash another rom again

I get the same... a message to state that the beta has expired, then the phone logs off the mobile network, and that's about it. Can't do anything else with it.

I think that in BuildNB.bat tyhere is this wrong:
Code:
cd ..\FLASH_TRINITY
DROP_OS.bat ..\TRINITY_GER\temp\OS-new.nb

You can ignore this and just pick up the new OS-new.nb in the TEMP directory. There's no real point however, as the beta has expired and is not usable.

I've just got the AKU1 rom and did not really try it, however this is meant as an example for the new Kitchen plug ins.
This is the same build the PV roms were made of and since I did not change the new OS the time bomb is still active.
Anyway, I'll remove the time bomb this evening when I find time, so that all ppl can use this RK to build AKU1 rom's.

[new release] Package Tool - (first part of the new Rom Kitchen)

Package Tool is an extension to Mamaich's imgfs tools
- Main function of this tool is to build packages for a new Rom Kitchen I'm working on
- Using this tool you can also extract the following information after creating a dump folder using viewimgfs.exe:
Core OS
Value: "Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC" or "Windows Mobile-based Smartphone"
Versions
Shows the version of the packages
SYS
This is the OS version
The example shows Crossbow, CE 5.2 Build:15341 AKU 0
NET
This is the .NET Compact Framework version
OEM
This is the version of the OEM packages
The example shows only one,
but I've also seen ROMs with different versions for each OEM package.
In that case there would be multiple OEM entries
Language
The LANGID and the language of the ROM
DPI
The DPI (dots per inch) of the resources
this also depends on the resolution of the device
Value: 96 or 128 or 131 or 192
Certificates
List of all certificates used for the packages.
The OS is signed my Microsoft and the OEM packages are using a certificate from the OEM
Missing Manifests
This is a list of all packages that are missing inside the dump folder.
It is normal that there are missing packages, because the packages from the boot section (XIP) are missing... don’t worry about them
Missing Files
This lists all missing files.
Someone edited the ROM or removed files from the dump folder!
Example:
Code:
[Selected Path]
C:\dump
[Core OS]
Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs
[Versions]
SYS: 5.2.15341.0
OEM: 2.18.0.0
NET: 2.0.6129.0
[Language]
0409 - English (United States)
[DPI]
96
[Certificates]
CN=Microsoft Windows Mobile PCA, O=Microsoft Corporation, L=Redmond, S=Washington, C=US
CN=OEM Sign 2005
[Missing Manifests]
d92a4f0a-378a-4482-8fd3-bd127a05e4de.dsm
723fb954-d931-4348-b672-82a188e587b5.dsm
13cb07c1-20b6-567f-dfcc-39d58b95e374.dsm
This tool is very useful for analyzing an unknown ROM, especially to extract the OS version and it will be much more useful after the release of the new ROM Kitchen.
It is also possible to execute the tool using the command line
Usage: PKGTool.exe <path to the dumped ROM>
This would just create packages, without any output
Because of this usage, you can just drag & drop the dump folder onto the tool
About the package names
The names of the packages can be extracted from the dump folders for WM6, but WM5 contains GUIDs instead of names.
To provide the ease of WM6 "Package Names" for previous (i.e. WM5) ROMs, the tool collects all package names inside map.txt and replaces the GUIDs with the actual Package Names.
You must let the tool read a WM6 dump to collect the Package Names before it can replace WM5 GUIDs.
e.g.
- Building packages from a WM5 dump creates: 1bc57b2f-c0f3-46c6-8c2a-257952317eac
- Building packages from a WM6 dump creates: OEM_Lang_0409
- Building packages from a WM5 after it was used for a WM6 ROM also creates: OEM_Lang_0409
Extending the map.txt can be disabled by: Menu - Tools - Expand Map
Download: View attachment package_tool_v1.01.zip
ROM dump converted to packages...
It is exactly the tool I'm looking for.
But... doeas it require any additional dll's? VB runtime or whatever? I have had exactly the same problem with your XIPPort. There are two version published here. One works fine (exe file 2007-01-21), second one (published with sources) produces:
message translated from polish into english:
Application can not be executed, because configuration is not valid. Problem can be resolved reinstalling application.
I've got the same message running PKGTool.exe
Sorry...yes, someone else told me the same...
I think it is cos I installed:
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - DEU Service Pack 1 (KB926606)
I will try to get that working... just give me some time

The program worked flawlessly m8; I'm asking this to know how to get it myself , that is if you don't mind sharing it
the OS version is written into the dsm files...
open this dsm file using a hex editor:
d0b41563-b345-4444-aa15-986e7c7fff99.dsm
after 0x003C you will see something like:
05 00 01 00 D0 07 FF 39
that’s the OS version and build
Yes. It works after installing VS SP1.
Many thanks.
A Great And Very Useful Tool Bepe.

vivi ROM Kitchen for iPAQ Hx4700
Mainly modified from Scoter Kitchen
Introduction
I've made this iPAQ Hx4700 ROM Kitchen because I think someone can make it,but no one 've made it till now. So I made it myself and share.
And someone asks me for this after I publish my vivi ROM Kitchen for ASUS P525.
Though it is not the best and complex Kitchen with many features and I think not many users want this Kitchen, but it's good to share.
The main aim of this ROM Kitchen is easy using, so this ROM Kitchen is only one click and follow the screen.
You will have a new ROM for iPAQ Hx4700 at ease.
Aims
1.For easy modifying private ROM.
2.For helping new user to easy start cooking ROM.

Let's see
Before using it just let us understand in the same way as follows.

3.I hope you will develop this Kitchen better and share.Or share your OEM Packages or knowledges.
4.All feedbacks are welcome.
Thanksss
Vivi,
THANK YOUUUUU!!! I'd been trying to modify your ASUS kitchen with no success. The 4700 community will truly appreciate this. I agree, kozhura's rom is great.
Regards.
Thanks so much vivi! I'm so happy!
Is it possible for me to use kozhura's latest WM5 ROM as the base rom? What should I do to make that into packages and modules? Also, is there any way to calculate how much free space is left in the ROM for adding OEM packages?
Thanks again!
Thanks. This is giong to be my first "cooking" experience. A nice new way of playing around and improving the hx4700 at the same time!!
Been doing some late night cooking... tastes great. Thanks vivi for bringing this out.
Thanks for the WM5 kitchen!

Don't downplay your part here!
I'd had a tinker with decompiling the ROM but never quite got it to work right so I too am very grateful of your assistance here.
I had a quick play last night and the largest file I saw was Powerpoint, my old favourite for the largest waste of space on previous ROMs so first to go to make space for the useful stuff!
And just how can you remove Powerpoint?

Well simply deleting the 2.59MB ppt.exe executable from the SYS\Office folder will get rid of it, but how do you get rid of all the traces (registry settings, links, extensions) that are tied to it in a clean and efficient manner. I know I can manually remove associated files and such, but what happens to settings in the .dsm file? I can manually edit the .rgu files, but how do you edit existing settings in the .dsm files without breaking something?
Can I remove the "HP Protect Tools" OEM folder (15836286-5263-4a11-8b33-5087ced93124) safely, or is it required by other applications in the ROM?

And then, deleting ppt.exe will cause no harm, even if you leave there all the debris? 2.6MB gives quite a lot of room for small apps!

I delete the ppt.exe as suggested, but I go through every file also to be honest and remove anything that refers to powerpoint, the link file, registry values for 'pps' or 'ppt'.
Whilst doing this I remove other things I don't use (though to be fair this is from when I used the Universal which had a lot of extra crap in it) and tweak the registry value to those I want (though again I can't see that I need to change a lot here).
Easier and quicker is to do a search of all files for the contents of ppt and pps and delete from there.
Vivi many thanks to you, great work for users!
kozhura,
Appreciated your works so much.
You are genius and so kind.
Thanksssssssssss,

Hi,
I have looked a litlle in your kitchen and this is a very useful tooll, thanks !!
Here are my first questions :
1.
I have seen this folder in the OEM :
vivi\Enter Kitchen\OEM\b693f6e6-e6cd-4091-b8f3-40f2b988b169
It seems to regroup every phone manager. As I never used it and I don't inted to use it, can I delet this 2.38 Mo folder without any risk ?
2.
Does someone have information about changing keyboard or adding a new one ?
(I need an azerty one)
3. (harder)
Does someone have information about changing language of the rom ???
4.
How much space do we realy have left to add OEM packages ? (I have searched but I didn't find an information about it)
albertorrent, I can't help you specifically but when I play with ROMs I tend to keep the last working version and then tweak.
If it works fine, that is the new last saved version, otherwise I go back to the previous and tweak differently.
thanks, I think I 'm gonna do a lot of try.
I have an other question, (may be the last for today ;-))
How to add a font in the font folder in windows ?

Looking for infomation regarding cooking roms

Hi to all chefs,
I am looking for as much info on rom cooking as possible as to understand the process that is happening,
what i want to know is when the batch file is run this launches other commands could somebody please explain what is happening behind the scenes
when the buildos runs it processes all the files into a temp folder,
now my most important question is,
when building up the registry, what is the order that the files are processed, by dsm filename? package filename?
also when are the mxip_******.provxml files processed (reg esttings added to the registry and in what order
how is the best way to add a custom mxip_****.provxml to garantee my setting don't get changed,
also if there is enough useful answers posted, i will edit this post to make a time-line in post2 to help others new to cooking there own roms,
then infos wanted for timeline are the background into whats happening in each program launched (buildos, nbhtool etc) from pressing the cook batch file through to windows being flashed and autorun kicking in, sdautorun if exists, then the end would be the final reset and windows ready to use,
hope you will make useful answers
many thanks.

1. the *buildos*.exe generates logfile with order
2. you can minimize the number of dsm-files/packages by your self.
i.e OEM, Packages and SYS to one dsm/rgu/provxml
also when are the mxip_******.provxml files processed (reg esttings added to the registry and in what order
mxipCOLD at coldboot (first time/only one time)
mxipUPDATE at resets (allways)

generaly the kitchen/device that you use and/or how much detaild you have cooking-knowns will determines the order.
I Know very little, i can take a rom add packages and rebuild, thats my limit, i want to create this thread so i can better understand what is happening, edit files, make sure my edits dont get changed later during the setup process, I would think this applies to most devices (i have a diamond and also Artemis) the kitchen i use is the modifyed kiaser kitchen as when i was modding artemis i found a simular kitchen for that device and a lot of my packages were reused.
for extracting artemis i use the hypercore-kitchen. but for cooking i changed to ARTEMIS_DEV_v2.1_Build_19199-kitchen. the reason is, that the file-structure in hypercore dismis/damages my brain.
for diamond i use the "kitchen"-kitchen (orig. download filename was kitchen.rar).
ohh, its ringing, so i have end again ...
p.s.
study the system.txt inclusive the batch-files together with the batch-files from "kitchen"-kitchen.

WM 6.5 Native Kernel/nk.exe/xip.bin for Hermes

Hi friends!
I think the topic pretty much says it all;
This is a native WM 6.5 Hermes OEMXIPKernel/xip.bin/nk.exe - aware of the new Slot 60/Slot 61 virtual memory layout - what does this mean for you as a chef?
Now you don't have to recmod any modules in \SYS anymore, to port over WM 6.5! And you have 64mb free to convert more files to modules!
But you will need to use a relocation tool that is aware of the new memory layout;
Ervius Visual Kitchen + Bepe's New Kitchen do this with the "Real WM 6.5 AKU" checkbox
There's also a build of "WMReloc" 2.0 floating around that may support this, that would be compatible with the "old style" kitchen (buildos + g'reloc, it would replace g'reloc)

thank you. I have been following your topic for some time and I must admit its way over my head. So do we just not use the \SYS folder anymore? I'm really confused on this.
over my head too... does this mean improved memory performance for 6.5 ROMs on Hermes? Storage or RAM? Could use a RAM boost with most ROMs...
Thanks DA_G u rock! i'll see if i can get it working on my old hermes!
anyone got that new wmreloc kicking around?
Its just a .exe file right?
need somone to flash new nk.exe 6.5 kernal rom
Can someone let me know if it boots?
I'm uploading a rom HERE with new nk.exe from 6.5 kernal
it will be doné uploading in about 5 mins.. i gotta go hit the dentist and get a root canal.. just lemme know if it boots

OOOOOUUUUUUCCCCCCHHHHHHHHH!
jajajaja
yeah it sucks!!!! i just went to dentist once.. to have a middle implant to one tooth... what da heck is the worst i ever experiment!
hope this works at the end.
maybe a noob question but how do I add this to my kitchen?
just the xip.bin, or do I need to copy the contents of the OUT folder too?
Search for Manual XIP porting using the search link in my sign!
this is great news! hopefully tai / irfan / joshkoss release a new rom using this!
ok Da_G
Are you saying that the memory could be changed from 64 to 61?
And we could have 3Mb more to use?
Mmmm any link to learn a little more about this... of course and the usage of this.
Ok lets try this baby!
goona redo the kitchen for 21807 with the nk.exe that nurkamol gaves me... oemxipkernel here must do the trick inthe ervius last kitchen just lemme get rid of the big admin folders there! a little confusing... but with a nice master chef ould be posible...
SYS 21807... Josh with my NK.EXE by nurkamol
Xip With this oemkernel and lets see what happend
Edited: first try was a failure! i set all the kitchen with all the 21807 modded of course... The thing i change was... the nk that nurkamol gaves me, and I couldnt find where to place the .ROM folder (it was on the sys, but in new kitchen where to place it?) and set kitchen to Imagestart at 0 PP 6mb not works... then i Add tehe default wincenls of course it was verwrited by OEM and chenge Startimagfs at 340000 and PP to 8mb and not works...
Next attempt...
Dont delete any folder from 21807 and let the xip ported nk by josh...
night!
It works as expected! Thank you very, very much
For others: don't panic, it has 15MB of PP set so you have to change it. btw, implantxip can't do that, you have to do it with osnbtool - or manually
Once again: thank you!
upd.:
for all those who can't get pp right:
Edit your TOOLS\kitchen_build_rom.bat and find the line with implantxip and replace it with those two lines:
Code:
..\TOOLS\osnbtool -ap xip.bin %pp%MB -y
..\TOOLS\implantxip -xip xip.bin -payload OS.nb.payload -imgstart %imgstart% -%uldr% -%nocert%
Of course you have to have osnbtool.exe in your tools directory
Great!
So this kernel works?!!!! we must to check real aku as i red your post on Da_G's kitchen thread... use the lastest MSXIPkernel ... Use the Romhdr and os.nb.payload for any other build cause its special for Hermes... I ask you this cause the OEMxipkernel modules are different, are many more on this kernel by Da_G.
Will try this... wich pp do you use.. 8?
thanks a lot dude! you have wonderfull ideas... my rom boots and its efficient... with some troubles about initflashfiles but works fine, because of your advice there on raphael forum.
I've took from Da_G only nk.exe, ceddk.dll and flashdrv.dll. You have to either take his boot.rgu, too - or ensure you have this line in yours:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Loader]
"EnableUpperModules"=dword:1

Samsung SGH-i780 (and any other WM device for that matter!): Learn how to cook ROMS

Hi guys,
I decided to open a blog which explains how to cook roms for the i780. There are very few chefs, and cooking is a really hard science to learn without help! So, I decided that I take the time and write posts so that everyone could learn the process in a methodical manner and cook roms in the future!
I'd slowly write posts explaining each step of the process in detail, so that we can have more people learning how to cook and make the i780 community more happening
Head over to this URL to check out the first few posts -
http://i780romdev.blogspot.com
Update:
Attached core kitchen tools that you'll need to use! Enjoy!
cheers
San
I never was a fan of this forum, not sure why, maybe because I use a ASUS P527 and there are not proper instructions on how to create a custom ROM, I appreciate your taking the initiative
I think its good fun to try and figure out things on your own
Non-HTC devices do have a very small fan base unfortunately....and ironically, HTC makes the crappiest devices imo (highly crash prone, buggy, lousy drivers, useless qualcomm processor)!
You can apply the same tools and techniques even to cook asus roms....its not all that different
cheers
wooooooow thanks a lot buddy finally we have it also !!!
when will u release part 3? and also can u give the links of programs? like pkgtools_? coz i tried to download it from somewhere else and it had virus

cheers!
You guy thanks for sharing your experience at cook ROMS,I whink I need this for my SmartPhone.
Hey guys, just dropped the next part of the series on the blog. Check out http://i780romdev.blogspot.com
Of course, the same theory, tools and understanding goes to cook for any other device too
cheers

To remove a package, you can get rid of the corresponding folders in your SYS folder. But its not recommended that you knock off office/ie as they might be referenced within other apps. You can always take it off, build a rom and see if everything works fine
For example, to remove IE, just delete your Browsing, Browsing_DPI_xx and Browsing_Lang_XXXX, BROWSINGCORE, browsingie, browsingie_LANG_XXXX folders. That should get rid of IE for you! Then you need to recreate your bin!

thanks a lot for kitchen tools and ur explanations! i read ur blog all the time great work!!

i have two problems while i am using ervius pkgtools
1. when i open dumo folder it shows
[Missing Manifests]

are these important dsm files?
2. when i press build packages it gives this error:
not found: select .os file to extract XIP
and i extract xip file using osbntool as xip.bin
any solutions for both of these?

When you start, it asks if you would like to run build xip.bat.....just hit NO for that....
trojan reported in the attachment
Win32/TrojanDownloader.Zlob.NBP
false alarm?
well last night i finished my own wm6.1 build 20270 128dpi pdxib1 according to your guide i wanna tell what i did to complete it ;
1.i exctracted my rom using i780 kitchen and i got dump folder and i also added some extra tools like ervius buildos, osnbtool etc...then i used pkgbuildos to seperate folders into oem and sys
2. i used oem part from krizky82's kitchen and i add some extra packages using ervius package creator 2.7 and add them with oem_blahblah to oem folder.
3. i deleted windows live and msn messenger from sys folder and copied netcf 3.5 and flashlite v3.1 from krizky82 kitchen. i also used his initflash and rgu file coz i had same structure almost(oem totally same and sys programs also)
4.i looked at both efn's kitchen and krizky82 kitchen and i saw that they have this structure oem,sys and rom and in rom there is xip folder. when i looked at inside xip folder i saw that there is only coredll.dll folder and others are dsm rgu and boot files so my next step
5. i used osbn tool to exract xip.bin and after i got that xipkitchen_beta6 and i choosed the same donor and original and after extracting i got original xip files and i ordered in same structure like efn's kitchen
6.then i used pgkbuildos and let the process starti had some dsm duplicate errors and i delete duplicated ones and later i didnt start xip extract bat and flashable bin bat so after process again i had temp/dump folder
7. during buildos there wasnt any error and i was happy about it
8. using inputTXTFileMaker ( thanks to u dreamtheather93) i got input text and after that using these commands;
mgfsfromdump imgfs_raw_data.bin new_imgfs.bin
del imgfs_raw_data.bin
ren new_imgfs.bin imgfs_raw_data.bin
make_imgfs i780.nb0.payload.body -nosplit
merge i780.nb0.payload.header i780.nb0.payload.body i780.nb0.payload
nbmerge -data 2048 -extra 8 i780.nb0 -conservative
and conv3 input.txt > conv3_output.txt
ren i780.nb0.b000ff !!i780_flashable_bin.bin
i got my flashable bin file yupiiiii i controlled the size of flashable bin and it is 86.2 mb and the size of dump folder almost 125 mb i hope it is ok
now i will flash my phone but is there any possibility that my phone can be bricked ?
thanks a lot for ur guide again!!!
note: i already used i780.bin as 12mb page pool size i did it before kitchen using osbn tool
good job m8
You cant really brick your i780 because of this I've done way crazier stuff....like trying out omnia's xip, drivers of omnia on i780....and nothing's given way
However, i'm hoping you've ported your XIP accurately, and i'm unsure how've you've built your SYS folder.
but, go ahead and flash and see if it boots nothing to be paranoid if it doesnt boot/hangs at startup/throws an error and fails etc. etc. If any of this happens, then we could troubleshoot it together
cheers & good luck
Great job!
Nice start San!
Not even some days left from your first successful cooking and you already best gid on it!
Keep on do it. And we wait for new mods for our best touchphone!
I think now anyone is able to break Eagles wings =P
