Weird issue (and hard to search for); Either my 8525 either charges up very quickly (I wish) or I'm not getting an accurate reading.
I've noticed it changes between percentages very quickly, and I'm trying to figure out the problem. Over the past few weeks it's gotten worse.
Today I got a low power message (20%) while I was on a call, and about 3 minutes later my phone ended the call shut the radio off automatically. About 4 minutes after that, it powered off all together.
I then put it on my car charger, turned it on and about 5 minutes later checked the battery level, and it said 40%. This is on 3g, I'm on radio version 1.54.30.1, at this time I had my email (I use Seven) paused, so I had no active connections.
I'm going to flash a different radio version now, but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.... I don't really see a difference (like color differences), but it might actually be working (or not). Its saying 100% but the status light is orange (like its charging). It was green a minute ago.
I'll give this a shot for a day and see how it works!
Thanks again for your help!
Edit: I wonder if I should worry about this. Since my last post, it's still been charging (orange light). Its either the phone still charging, or the light is not supposed to turn green. I know exploding batteries are extremely rare, but still a concern!
Mine does that sort of thing. It would sometimes go to 10% shut off, I could plug it back in and it would say it was 100% charge in less then 30 minutes, but as soon as you start using it drop down to 50% within a few minutes of being on a call or the net. I bought a new battery which helped for about a month and now I am back to similar issues you are having.

Its been better from what I can tell today, after flashing a new radio version (1.48.30.1) and that battery meter. Reception doesn't seem as good on 3g with it though, so I'll be going back to the other radio. I'll update later once my battery level has dropped down.
Quicker then I expected... streamed two videos short (< 5 minutes) video clips (what would I do without The Daily Show?), the battery showed 60% before that. While on the second one, it gave me the low battery notification (20%).
Threw it on a charger, and 25 minutes later I'm at 50%.

My phone has been randomly shutting off, and by random, I do mean just that. It will tell me I have a full charge and then shut off, and then every attempt to restart it, will cause it to immediately shut off again. Sometimes I wait half an hour, and then turn it on, and it will last me the rest of the day on standby. Sometimes it lasts me several hours playing music, other times (most notably when using wifi or gprs, it will only last minutes).
I have seen on occasion the battery indicator will give me a warning saying its almost dead when I reboot it, before it shuts itself off again. This is going from 80+ % full to suppposedly nearly drained in an instant.
So yeah ok, maybe I need a new battery? Thats what I figured, until I bought a car charger. The charger was from the T-mobile store, it was marked for the Dash and Wing.
When I plug it in, i get the charging icon, the little orange LED, but it gets incredibly hot. Almost too hot to hold in about 10 minutes. It doesn't seem to charge it at all, even though it gives me the icon.
I should mention, the phone NEVER dies in use when plugged into the wall or USB, nor does it heat up, but it will act up randomly like previously described when using the car charger.
What do you guys think? Should i get a new battery or do you think something else is wrong? I do enjoy the things I can do with this phone, but its starting to become more trouble than it is worth I think (was always bothered by the memory leak to begin with...).
I thought it just a one off, but it's now happened a few times, I leave my TP2 over night, it show 80 or 90% battery, then when I get up in the morning and check my phone, it says there is an error to report with Opera.exe then when it's cleared the battery is low.
and now twice I have gone to check my phone and found it's turned off completely, then when I turned it on it says there is 10% battery, when the night before it had been charging in the car and before gong to be had shown at least 90%.
Any ideas ???? have I got a faulty battery?
I have quite a similar problem. Sometimes, my tp2 won't wake up after charging. I have to do a soft reset with the stylus to get it running again. My battary doesn't get drained though... don't know what the problem could be...

I think the device has a few isssues which we hope the WM 6.5 upgrage will resolve. I have a vodafone TP2 and anytime i slide open the keypad i get an error message "cprog.exe has stopped working". I am sure other users out there are facing similar issues.
interesting. Mt T-Mo version (that I've had since August 14th) hasn't had a single problem like that... yet (fingers crossed)
last night's shutdown happened while the charger was actually plugged in and the charge light was on, this morning I unplugged it and the phone was off, did a reset to start it and found there was only 10% battery life.
VERY ODD.
Sadly I think it's unlikely that HTC and Vodafone will be able to come to any aggreement to let us officially upgrade to WM 6.5. There's an firmware upgrade on the vodafone site but there's confusion over what it does when the version number is out of sequence to what is installed already.
I've seen the touchflo3D 2.5 youtube vids which look good BUT even if we could get an official release Vodafone will probably want to mess up the icons and colour to brand it again, just for us the end user to spend hours trying to undo their screwing around.
I'm not very optamistic about an upgrade amd I don't want to start installing cooked roms yet as the TP2 is still under warranty and it's my business phone.
Same Here
Mine sometimes doesnt charge however its plugged in & it shuts down itself & keeps restarting automatically with some other similar above issues!! HTC has to know that!
no such things in my pro2
Just had the very same thing happen to me this morning, so it's good to know I'm not alone.
Yesterday, I found my phone was dead, though I was sure it had enough battery life. I put it on the charger and turned it back on.
It was on the charger all night; the battery light was green. When I unplugged it from the charger, I tried to turn it on [from stand-by/locked mode], and the battery light kept flashing, but nothing would happen.
I only was able to get it on by plugging it back into the charger. When it came on, it had 60% battery life, even though it supposedly had 100% just two minutes before (and wasn't even on).
So thanks for mentioning it.
Weird defect. Anyone else have this problem?
Edit: as of now it won't charge at all
Edit 2: After a lot of fiddling around, it decided to charge. Working great except for a single dead pixel Got to exchange it on the 9th or whenever they get their shipment in.
Mine charges while powered on.

Mine charges while on and off. What I did notice, is when I was initially setting it up it went up to 32% and while on charger it started loosing charge. I have no idea why this happened but assumed a service was running in the background. Ever since the initial setup, on or not the watch gains charge. Seemed to take about 2 hrs from near empty to full while the display was on showing time.
As of now it wont charge at all. This is driving me insane. I got it to 9% somehow but I have no idea, and Best Buy won't have any to replace it with.

Do you have the cable that came with it plugged into the cradle? I started using my cell cable into the cradle and my battery percentage was going down instead of up.
My local Best Buy said of the two they had today the first sold wouldn't charge. I saw another post on reddit claiming theirs wouldn't turn on, could also be related to a charging issue.

This is a ****ing pathetic launch. There is literally no stock anywhere and of the few that are sold a handful have defects. This is simply disgraceful.
Here's what happend with mine.
First time I powered it on it said to download the wear app..so I did that. Then, it proceeded to connect and pair with my phone. It started to download something, (wear update?) and at about the half way point it said charge your device, shutting down. So it shut down. I put it in the cradle and it initially had 23% charge. 5 minutes later it had 18%. Not knowing what was going on, I turned it back on and was met by a spinner that said just a minute... for about 15 minutes. So I turned it back off.
After another reboot I went into the menu and selected reset device. After this it began to charge.. all the way to 100%. I turned it back on and it re-downloaded what it had to and applied the update successfully after about 3 or 4 restarts and 10 minutes. Now all seems well.
Edit.. By well I mean working. It's been merely 3 hours and with almost no use I'm down 40%. FML
yeah, i think people in their rush to use it haven't charged them fully. i plan to charge mine fully before using it.

This was definitely my issue. The problem is the vagueness of the instructions. It basically says turn it on, download the app.. Show off (until it dies).
I had the same problem with it saying charge your battery. I put it on the charger and left. Came back, it installed an update, rebooted a couple times and then was good. I've been playing with it heavy for a few hours and it's at 69%.

So, I got mine to charge and everything. So far I LOVE IT. I made a post on working apps that I've tested over in the Themes and Apps subforum. Basically, I put it on the Qi Charger I have for my Nexus 5 DIRECTLY in the center and it ended up charging then stopping again. Then, this time, I put it on the charger provided, and it worked to 100%... Very strange but I plan on exchanging it anyway as there is a single dead pixel I can see.
Same issue... Got the watch. Turned it on in the car and it started the update without promoting me to do it and now it is in the same dead cycle I've seen others post about. it will sit on the charger for hours and only be a few percent and when u power it on it tries to update and goes from 10% to 0 in less than a min or two. I just did another reset and put it on the cradle. The only feedback I have that something is happening is the watch is pretty hot. My gear live and Galaxy Gear 1 had an icon that showed charging status when the phone was off. Also they charged quickly, we're always cold and had great battery life. I can't imagine Moto not testing these devices long enough to figure that it should not try to apply an update until the battery was at a certain level or plugged in. I wish when these reviewers do features on the engineers of these devices, like have been recently done instead of ass kissing these guys would at least do some calls g out on their process. It'll like when Apple came out with the IPhone 4 and showed all these unbelievable signal testing facilities and they couldn't figure out when you held the phone normally on your left hand that the signal would drop to zero. It literally took me 2 minutes to figure out that one...
I highly advise you sink a hour charge into the watch first at least. most of these new batteries are like a lithium ion / lipo hybrid. they have a low voltage cutoff so the battery cells don't get damaged and go kaboom. Noone knows how long these sat or what charge was in them, how cold and so on during shipping. I would say people are running them low enough moto is triggering low volt cutoff.the update may have even changed the voltage values they accept as tolerable. and when you power it up this tricks it into a fail mode. ost smart chargers see the low volt and refuse the to charge for risk of a damaged cell. this sounds a lot like moto 360's issues.
When mine hit 80% on the charge, the update downloaded, watch rebooted, and the charge message started appearing.
So for the last few months, my phone would randomly restart itself around once or twice a month. I didn't really care since it was a minor annoyance. Usually it would be when I was trying to do a bunch of things at once so I figured it might be a software problem. However, over the last two weeks or so, it has gotten worse. I usually charge my phone in the morning for about an hour while I get ready for the day. So by the time I leave the house, my phone is at 100%. What'll happen is I'll unplug it from the charger then will get about ten/fifteen minutes of uninterrupted usage before the screen goes black and the LG logo comes on. And the phone turns back on with less battery. Then, as I go to put in my knock code, it crashes again. Turns back on. Now with even less battery. This continues about five or six times until I'm left with anything from 3-15%. I can't make calls without the phone turning off, can't take pictures. Can't really do anything. However, there are no problems when the phone is charging. I can use it fine during that. I'm almost positive this is an issue with the battery (going to order a new one soon), however I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem too and found a fix?

X2 Same problems, same solution.
After a long day streaming Pandora from my Tab S in my car, running on battery, no charger connected, I decided to put it on a charger and turned on navigation about an hour from my destination as I was in an unfamiliar city. After about 45 minutes, I saw a bright green flash from the screen. A few seconds later, and there were more flashes and it turned off. I have not been able to get it to come back on. I have tried charging it, on a charger and on PC. I have tried every combination of home+vol up/down+power I have seen in several threads, while connected to a PC, to a charger, and not connected at all. The PC does not recognize the Tab at all, ever, during any of the manipulations.
I have seen where some have luck just letting the tab sit for a few days, and it will be miraculously revived by charging, so I will try that. I have also seen where some force charge the battery using the wires from a stripped USB cable directly on the battery terminals, and as my warranty is long past void, I will try that too.
Here's my question: If none of that works, given the description, does anyone have a good idea that it may be just the screen or the battery that may need to be replaced? Or is it more likely a motherboard issue? Is there any way of telling? Despite the heavy use, the TAB did not seem excessively hot. I have felt it much hotter in the past .
I'm a tab-a-holic, and use this thing all day, every day. I use it for work, and for reading and movies at home. I'm a little frustrated as I have yet to own any tablet that lasted two years. I really don't want to spend the money for another one right now, and, if needed would prefer to repair this one if I can save a few bucks.
And, if it's relevant, the Tab is rooted, running AOSP 6.0.
I don't know too much about this - but if I were in this situation, I'd put it in a refrigerator for about 1 minute and try booting it up.
As for the cause - AOSP 6.0 has been known to have some overheating issues on this tablet under heavier loads.
Yeah, still don't think overheating was the cause. Not gonna put it in a fridge either. ;-P
Thanks to all for your concern and helpful comments!
My Tab S is unbricked as of just a few minutes ago! I just let it sit for a few days, and then left it on a charger for a few hours today. I was not expecting anything as the battery icon did not pop up when I plugged it in. But, when I came back to it a few hours later, I pressed the power button and there was the battery icon showing a full charge. It booted up normally with no issues and is working fine.
I can't tell you how happy I am!
