New E-Mail Sound Not Playing - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I'm running the official AT&T WM6 ROM on my Cingular 8525. I have set up a sound to play whenever I receive a new e-mail, but it doesn't always play. Sometimes it plays completely, sometimes partially, and sometimes not at all. I've attached a few screen shots.
Any idea why this is happening?

Funny... I'm encountering the same problem.... I curious if anyone knows the answer By the way samcham, you may want to add in your signature what OS you're running... it's most likely OS related....
Cheers..

Txt sound and Ringer stop working in 6.1

Ok it only seems to happen after I get a few txt messages like one after another, mostly if in the txt message using it in its new "chat" style... Makes txting 100 times easier but it stops making a noise when a message is received... NOT a huge deal if it went back to making noise once I got out of the txting window or program, but it wont. It will also stop the ringer from working so I will miss other txt's and calls until I look at the phone. It takes a reset to get it back to normal. I was using the FARIA-R32-XDA2 rom, I'm going to try some other roms and see if I have the same issue.
Its on a AT&T branded 8525
Nothing??
this is rather annoying. If I receive a bunch of txt's my ringer and notifications stop working, the phone will still make sound if you go elsewhere and force it but it will NOT notify me of a TXT or a incoming call. Hell it wont even blink the like orange if I received a txt. This cant be just me with this problem. And I've only had this issue since going to WM6.1 I'm tempted to go back to VP3G 6.0 and leave it there and just deal with the non threaded txt's, thats really the only reason I upgraded.
Can't say I've noticed this problem.....ever, and I use WM6.1
Sorry mate
You also dont have the 8525, so I wonder if its something to do with the AT&T branded POS...
Could it be the fact that my notification sound I was using was a mp3 file??
If your MP3 file is stored on a memory card, and there is a break in communication that would definitely result in it not working.
The Hermes has a bug in (at least when it was released) where the card reader loses connectivity. There is a reg fix available on this site that should resolve that issue.
Just a thought.. might help you..
I have been running 6.1 for a few weeks now, and other than my alarm not working all of the sudden on morning, have not had any other issues.
Sound file was in the windows directory...
I just upgraded to 2.60 0lipro and put TNT back on and maybe using a WAV file it wont mess up again... because it affected just the txt and ringer and both of those were mp3 files.

Ringer profile automatically switches after each call

Hi all,
This is my first post here. Been mostly at ppcgeeks.
I and others have been having a problem with my HTC Touch on Sprint ever since upgrading to a cooked WM6.1 ROM. I have tried to custom ROMs and both have the same issue. So I'm thinking that it's a 6.1 thing. It could also be that I'm not using the radio really made for my device. So I'm hoping someone here can help us.
The issue is that whenever I hang up a call using my BT headset (Jabra 5010 with the sliding arm but it happens with other models too), the ringer profile automatically switches between settings. Meaning, if I start on vibrate for example, after the first call is switches to Ring, after the second, it switches to no sound and so on. Very annoying. It is not set to Automatic. I do not have the profiles or the calender on the today screen (some people suggested that as a possible answer).
So if any of you know how to fix it or if oyu are having the same issue, please reply.
Thanks and it's nice to be a member.

HTC Touch Diamond Delayed ringtone & low volume

Hi,
I am a new member here and I currently own a HTC Touch Diamond.
I am planning on buying a new phone only months after buying this one mainly because of two issues:
- When someone calls me, the phone only starts ringing after a few rings on the caller's side. I have missed many calls simply because of the delayed ring so by the time it does ring, the caller has hung up. Weirdly enough there is no delay in the phone lighting up and notifying the user of an incoming call, it's just the ringing that is delayed, so obviously it can detect the incoming call accurately and it is just a firmware issue. Originally it would be delayed by about 5 rings, but after a few modifications I've done from some websites, I've managed to reduce it to about a 2-3 ring delay. Either case the delay itself is unacceptable.
- The ring-tone volume is ridiculously low. I have tried all methods available such as manually adjusting the volume through registry hacks, using an application called Diamond Tweak, etc, but it simply is not loud enough.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced these issues before and if there is a fix for them now. I did a lot of research into fixing this in the past few months and to no avail. I have now given up but given that this forum is so active, I figured I might ask for help here incase there is a solution that has eluded me. By the way HTC customer support is useless. They fail to even recognize the problem and almost always conclude with a response along the lines of "we've forwarded you issue to the technical team and will get back to you if a solution is found." I am almost certain that will never happen and I am extremely doubtful that they've even bothered to forward anything to anyone.
I was hoping as a last resort that this problem could be solved by replacing the Windows Mobile OS with Google Android OS, but it appears Android OS is still not fully compatible with the Touch Diamond.
Anyway, any help with this would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah, this is certainly a problem on stock diamonds. It's primarily caused by the speed at which the phone can access and render the phonecanvas, as well as the playing of a MP3 ringtone.
The low-hanging fruit is to use a [.wav] ringtone which is played natively in WM6. Also, if you're willing to flash a custom ROM, there are several that use optimized dialers (I made one) with better responsiveness. If you search, you'll come across a few:
GenY D2X
GenY D2The incoming call latency used to annoy me, it's why I initially signed up to xda, but it's something I haven't even noticed in quite awhile. I'll attach a [.wav] ringtone for you to try out.

Message alert whilst on a call!

Anyone have this problem? Im running Starbust rom.. if im on a phonecall and someone text's me it comes blasting through the earpiece!
It's normal, seems to be a 'feature' of Android, at least Sense versions
Awesome feature, im sure thats a Health Hazard as its really loud.
its in the message settings i believe

[Q] Gingerbread Transfers Bluetooth To Handset When Text Received.

Sorry if this has already been discussed. I searched for the same issue but didn't come up with anything, and if it has, can somebody post a link to the thread/threads with the same issue?
I'm rooted and installed the stock Gingerbread 2.3.4, build 4.06.605.3, and the first thing I noticed is that when I'm on a call on my Jawbone Icon and I get a text message while on a call, the call gets transfered to the handset. I've tried everything possible with unpairing/pairing/rebooting/settings, but every single time it disconnects the call from the Icon and transfers it to the handset once a text notification comes through.
I found this on the HTC forums about the Dinc2, (community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/f/124/t/12762.aspx), and it appears to me to be a known Gingerbread issue that many other people are having and not just a hardware issue with a certain phone or certain BT earpiece.
Does anybody else know of this, have this same issue, and if there has been a fix or patch for it yet? I'm about ready to go back to a Froyo ROM or try a Gingerbread one where it works if I can find one I like, but for some goofy reason and after all the futzing around I've done with different ROMS, I always seem to go back to the stock one with Sense UI.
Can anybody help me out here? Thanks a ton!!

Hmmmmm... I'm not using the GingerTiny kernel, just the htc 2.6.35.13-g55a06e5 kernel. What could be the difference...
Not sure, im not familiar with bluetooth or if it has anything to do with the kernel.
Interesting, I've heard several others mention this problem recently and another who added the same thing happens when getting a text while having a call on speakerphone. Drumznut, do you have the 2.15.10.07.07 radio? If so, it'd be interesting to see what would happen with the GingerTiny kernel since that combo is working for cmlusco.
@cmlusco, can you replicate it with the call on speakerphone + receiving a text scenario?

Yes I'm on the 2.15.10.07.07 radio. My phone is listed as:
Android Version - 2.3.4
Baseband Version - 2.15.10.07.07
Kernel Version - 2.6.35.13-g55a06e5 [email protected] #1
Build Number - 4.06.605.3 CL140944
Software Number - 4.06.605.3
Browser Version - WebKit/533.1
PRI Version - 1.28_002
PRL Version - 52011
ERI Version - 5
I'd give it a try if I knew where to get the GingerTiny Kernel. Anybody have a link to it or have any idea what else to try?

Interested to see how it goes.
Don't mean to be a pain but any new info on this? Quite a few people experiencing this it seems.
hi, i am not having this issue, but i also am using a different BT. I am using nills business sense3.0 v2.3 and kernel gingertiny 2.6.35.10 with the 7.07 radio. the bt phones are altec lansing backbeat 903 BT headset.
i had an idea, it may have something to do with the way the headset handles audio, as a test try setting your text ringtone to silent, and turn off the vibrate too just in case, now try replicating the problem and see if it still switches your audio to the handset. If this fixes the problem then it has got to do with the way your headset deals with notifications as a posed to regular audio. unfortunately i have no idea how to fix this problem other than not setting the notification, and i am sure that is not an acceptable solution, on the other hand you may only have to change a setting in your headset.
well anyway that just popped into my head when i was reading your post, i may be way off base but i figure it worth a try, and hopefully it may be helpful.

Thanks for the suggestion and sorry I didn't get to the testing sooner...
Here's what I've found:
I performed all the same tests with the stock htc kernel and with the Gingertiny kernel and had the exact same results.
I use the apps SMS Popup and Missed Reminders, so the first thing I did was uninstall both those apps and run some tests.
Receiving a text message while on my bluetooth still transferred my call to the handset.
Setting the text vibration to off but leaving on sound notification still transferred my bluetooth call to the handset.
Setting the text notification sound off but leaving the vibrate on still didn't matter and it still did the same thing.
Setting the text sound off and the vibrate off too did the trick and there was no transferring of the bluetooth call to the handset when I received a text message.
I then reinstalled SMS Popup, left the text sound and vibrate off and had no problem.
I then installed NotifyMyWay to see if that app's vibrate notification would work and not transfer the bluetooth call to the handset and it worked fine with "no" call transferred to the handset when I received a text message.
So yeah, it's something with how the Sense UI and the handset are interpreting the notification of the incoming text message while on a bluetooth call. I can live without a text sound notification and will have to live with turning the sound notification on and off if and when I have to but I would like to see a patch out to correct this issue. Will that happen?? Good question.
Let me know if anybody has any suggestions or other tests to try. Thanks!!
I am glad i was able to help .
