Unbranded GPS .. worth it? - HTC Excalibur

I'm looking for a bluetooth GPS under U$50 to use with my Dash ..
The reason for the "under U$50" is that I'll buy from eBay and products below U$50 I can buy and ship to Brazil without paying taxes or customs fees.
Holux M1000 or M1200 it's way over $50.
So I found this device -> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250206234620&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
It looks like a unbranded product but it's base the SWISS NEMRIX chipset.
Is it worth to buy? Anyone know?

Hi There
I would say that you will be better off with Holux M-1000. I also own a Excalibur and got Holux M1000 from ebay for $25 + $20 shipping. The Holux M-1000 is a great receiver for that price and it works like a charm. I am using smart2go mapping application and the whole arrangement is great.
Two thumbs up for Holux M-1000.
In case you need detailed instruction .. i can do so too
Cheers!!

with the exception of it not having replaceable batteries like its predecessor. this one has outstanding performance. oncourse and holux are two very good brands
btw: there is a 10% coupon floating around the web somehwere. its from aximiste.com
discount ax10 or something?

ouch, didnt realize you live there. sorry mate, guess i'm not much help.
just be sure you get it from a reputable seller that doesnt ship from china. alot of knockoff's come from there, chances are you will get a fake and they are never as good as the real thing (i speak from experience )
edit: pay attention to the negative feedback as well. most people who post positive more than half the time dont know what they bought, so its hard for them to tell fakes.

Do you want 128MB upgrade?

Hey guy's:
Due to the high demand of memory for upcomming OS's I thought I would give you an opportunity to upgrade the memory of your Uni. As you know, one of my friends did the upgrade for me here (in Bangladesh). I discussed with him personally last night for his service and he has shown some interest.
Now I need to know spending how much is actually worth/comfortable for you. I'll then discuss with him further. But please note, chip has to be ordered/bought from eBay.
Let me know if your are interested.
UPDATE:
Details for upgrade -
UPGRADE COST: USD 100 - included chips+service charge+return shipping (regular post).
UPGRADE COST: USD 110 - included chips+service charge+return shipping (express post). But Express post service is available for limited number of countries.
You can provide the chips if you want but they have to proven working. 20$ will be deducted from the total cost in this case.
You must bear the cost for shipping from your end.
Complete device is not accepted. You need to unmount the device and send ONLY the mainboard without any other assembly.
The mainboard must be well-packed during shipping. The same packaging may be used for return shipping.
The whole process could take approximately 6-8 weeks (including shipping/upgrade/return shipping).
I will not take the responsibility in case the board is damaged or lost during transit.
Due to export control regulation: some of the countries are considered out of this project. i.e. Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and all other countries those has direct border to Singapore. Italy has no usual restriction but the postal handling is not so pleasant. Parcel may get lost during shipping/return shipping so it is up to your interest.
Payment (PayPal is prefered) has to be made only when you get notified that the upgrade is done. Board will be then re-shipped.
PM me if you're interested and I'll then provide you the shipping address.
Cheers
I am interested!!
Not sure about price but in London you have to pay aprox. 50 - 80 pounds.
How this would work? shipping?
I´m in and waiting further instructions!
Universal 128MB upgrade in London
Can you tell me somewhere that'll do the upgrade in London? I can't find ANYWHERE! Many thanks
@orb:
you need to send your mainboard, not the whole unit.
the board will be returned after upgrade. in this way it will help to avoid tax.
We will discuss about all other concerns but first I need to know the interest from you guys.
I am interested. Can afford $50, I guess.
Your friend could also do USB port repairs, seems to be the problem that far too many Unis and their owners suffer from.
Question: Can chips be harvested off a defunct Uni/Wizard board? I have some lying around gathering dust in various states of disrepair or repair is simply uneconomical, but I know the RAM BGA chips are fine. Can give chips as part of payment... perhaps...
What do they cost on eBay?

Consider it is not a commercial service. He will do it because of my request. But in the other way, we need to pay him something or he will not feel the interest. Also there is a cost involved for returned shipping.
P.S: I just checked at eBay, a pair of chips are about 20$ (including shipping).

It cost about 200RMB in China,
But I am still waiting~
yes mate there we are i am from dhaka and i am very much interested 4 the upgrade.i think i pm u about this.it will be very much appricated if u provide some of ur contact info 4 ur country mates..cheers tomal 4 ur hard work...i will look 4word 4 the reply...
sorry i forgot to ask is there any possibolity to upgrade the ram to 256 or more higher.i mean can we use 2 128 chip or something like that..cheers..
Very Interested
Not sure the exact amount I would spend currently. Maybe we need to figure out how much it is for return shipping then go from there as far as payment. Most of the users are closer to you I would assume than I. But Im definately interested in this idea. Is there a way to get a flat rate shipping from your end to the rest of us throughout the world? Something similar to what the USPS is offering now with certain boxes that weigh under 70 pounds. Hopefully so but you can count me in. Also would be hoping you and your friend could offer the broken USB port repair.
Also BIG THANKS for the great roms and support you have provided to us Uni lovers We ask you keep up the awesome work.
Upgrade!
I would be willing to pay $75.0-$100.00 US dollars, but not sure how long I could go with out my phone.
Jerry
tomal mate try to find those chips everywhere but couldnt find it.i tried ebay.co.uk couse i hade relative down there who can bring it 4 me.i tried ebay.com aswell but no solution..will u kind enough to show me those links where to buy..cheers...

this is a bit off topic, as I am aware Tomal was asking for interest. However, as this is a share site, I'll just point you off-topic to this post.
mate what about those empty space beside the ram chip.if that is 4 extra flash disk than any chance to upgrade it i mean are those chips avilable in market like increaseing more f disk in main board like ram ........any suggations.....
For me Hong Kong seems to be the only and thew closest option with $128. So if Tomal's idea fails, I might check with them whether they'll accept the board only and wait for FX to improve.

Spare phone parts from overseas

Hi everyone. Please recommend your best sites to get some original spare phone parts. Looking for a reliable and efficient CS as well. I'm located in France. Looks like there are lots of companies from HK to get what I need. Question is if someone out there tried one of them yet. With what results (quality, shipping, CS...)?
Thx in advance for pieces of advice.

I've bought a bunch of stuff from China and it's usually of very low quality..Yes, almost everything we buy noadays is made in china, but the knock off stuff coming from china is crap. I'd try to find a US seller. Yes, Europeans don't really care for American's but we make good stuff..lol
Alot of the china stuff will break very easy and it takes in exces of 4 weeks to get your order.
Stay away..lol

X2.... Bad quality in china
I've ordered spare parts for an old phone before through ebay (one of those being a screen for a Sony W580i) and they've all come from china or hong kong. Everything i've ordered has come in a week or two of ordering and while the pieces were cheap.. they got my device working again! ($20 for a new screen (with shipping) as opposed to $50 insurance deductible)
I feel lucky! I've bought some TPU case for my iphone 4g from China .And it is cheap but high quality..lol
I'd like to add eBay's a fairly reliable source of parts so long as you read the sellers' bad feedback first - if the quality is poor people will say so...
Got a lot of OEM stuff from china no major issues - minor ones dealt with very efficiently.
HTH!
M.S
Thanks, guys. However, I decided to give a try to one of those HK based companies I heard great words from, CNN.cn . I've just received the parcel at the end of last week, thanks to their fast delivery shipping option. Took only 5 days since the order was done.
I must say that quality of the goods is far beyond what most of people think when buying from China. I guess we all have to pay attention to where we order, that's why forums like this one are useful for everybody. I'm not disappointed with my bezels, housings, keypads... So I definitely recommend them to those who seek for quality items along with a careful customer service. And they speak French as well, what is a real plus.
I don't know if you guys are aware of this, but in case not and if you're interested, CNN.cn offer permanent discounts for professionals and those who order over a certain amount. Can help.

Yeah, I'm thinking they are fake too, but it doesn't matter as long as they carry good sound. I will report back when I get them. Sometimes, these fake ones are just brandless ones that get branded later by named companies like Creative.
And it's $2, not $3.
So many counterfeit products out there.

Hi,
i dont understand the utility of nfc devices at home or work, as the video shows, i would just install llama, make a rule based on the cell antenas at your work and home ad you'll get the wifi/sound/bluetooth things on/off and free because i understood sony nfc devices were around 60 $/€ quite expensive for that kind of tasks
meh, bugger paying that much for them, just get some of the ntag203 stckers from rapidnfc.com.
they can be stuck anywhere, and they're about 65p each if you buy 10.
use it with the NFCTaskManager and Tasker, and they're pretty much nothing you can't get the phone to do with a tag.

I got some off eBay, quite a few for 5 Euro as far as I remember. Just check for compatibility, they usually mention conpatible with Galaxy Nexus, then it would work with other phones too.

Will probably enable the option of orders going out without tracking numbers,
however if this options is chosen, NFCzone can not be held responsible if the
postal service throws packages away. But I think we can trust that won't happen Receipts that the package was sent in the first place, can always be displayed on request.
But yeah, you're right it does seem a little silly to pay 22€ for shipment on an order for 10€ for example

I have used Aliexpress and DHgate.com to sell things here in Dominican Republic. The shipping takes almost one month to get here so don't buy things that you need asap.
Keep yourself away from buying Memory Cards or Hard Drives, almost always are fake or have less capacity than listed.
IMHO dhgate > aliexpress.
