I have a TyTN II, aka O2 XDA Stellar, (UK), in which I am using an O2 pay and go sim card. The problem is, O2 dont appear to have any settings for WM6 phones on pay and go, so I cant do any form of data transfer; GPRS, EDGE etc. Other networks pre-pay sim cards work on my phone, and the O2 sim works in other phones such as the Nokia N95, so why cant I use the two together? Im utterly confused! Any help would be much appreciated!

I would like to purchase T-mobile MDA-3 for use in the USA and Europe. Can I just put in my US simcard and will it work or does it need to be unlocked? What should I look out for? ANy suggestions would gratly be appreciated?
Most come unlocked. I just recived my MDA III, it was T-Mobile branded when I recived it. Came in a German T-Mobile Box, but my ROM was English. I bought mine through Tiger-Direct.
Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it? Also, will my current T-Mobile sim drop in and work?
The MDA3 is quad band so you should be able to use it anywhere in the world! So long as you have roaming set up on your sim you should be fine!
Not so sure about the locking though!
I am using it in the US
I have an iMate PDA2K in the US and it works just fine. T-Mobile gets a bit confused when you call tech support and their system can't automatically recognize your device, but I just tell them that I have one of their HP Windows Mobile models that they sell in the US and they seem cool with it. All I did was swap in my SIM card and it started working right away. GPRS, etc all works fine.

Hi All
I've been looking at getting a Qtek 9090 for a while now and I have seen lots of postings talking about the t-mobile mda iii supporting blackberry etc and maybe the odd posting where someone in the UK has got a xda2s or 9090 to do it using a particular rom.
Can anyone say that they have witnessed a 9090 with ANY rom on it that supports blackberry in the UK with Vodafone?
I'm really keen to get this going as it should be my ultimate device!
Thanks
Will.
Blackberry support has to be implemented at the provider end, as well as with the client software. Does Vodafone have Blackberrys?
Chris
Vodafone UK supports both Blackberry Internet Service (formerly Blackberry Web Client) and Blackberry Entreprise Server.
For BIS pricing Check Vodafone Blackberry Price Plan
As for the Blue Angel software, T-Mobile's Germany ROM supports the Blackberry Connect. Confirmation can be found here.
For a list of supported devices check Blackberry Connect. Scroll down to the paragraph that says Available Operating Systems and Devices.
Hope this helps.
I'm using Blackberry from T-Mobile UK. Using the ROM supplied by T-Mo UK Customer Services. It only works with their radio ROM, which means no radio upgrades possible. Push emails are great, but this version doesn't seem to be able to handle attachments (larger than a few kb).
Ok, thats all fine - we already have a vodafone BES server etc using standard blackberry handhelds and also nokia 6810 mobiles.
The real question though is - although t-mobile have got the MDA iii working with blackberry abroad (and with their radio rom) - is it possible to install their radio/roms etc onto the 9090 successfully?
I need to get the device (whatever I get) sim-free, and I am having trouble finding an mda iii sim-free in the uk...
Thanks
Will.
The T-Mobile ROM is available on this site:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Upgrades
The BlueAngel is available SIM free from eXpansys.com and I got mine considerably cheaper from justtelecoms.com and it comes with the BB ROM already installed.
JT also do it on 1 year and 2 year contracts
Ok, thanks for that.
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=QTEK_9090 is what I've been looking at getting
Can I presume that it is perfectly possible to install the t-mobile roms onto a qtek 9090 and then unlock to any network (as I'd need to use my voda sim)
Thanks
Will.
I beleive the Q9090 from expansys is already unlocked and yes, you can install any rom.
The JustTelecomms option comes with the correct rom already installed and they will sell it sim free for £330 and unlock it for only £15 or you can use the free unlock tool available here on xda-developers.
Can we all assume it will work? Yes.
Can we guarantee it will work? No.
I have bought the XDA IIs on this assumption. Due to lack of time the device is still in its box.
In the meantime I am still using my Blackberry 7230 but soon I will get my hands dirty and start playing with the XDA. If you're willing to wait a week or two then I'll let you know of the results.
I called justmobile and they don't take credit cards!!
Any other suggestions?
I just bought a dopod xdaIIs and I have upgraded it to ivans 3.3 in hopes that I could get the Blackberry Enterprise service to work.
I have a corporate Blackberry with a T-Mobile US sim card, I wanted to take the sim out of it and put it in my xda and the phone portion works fine when I do this but the blackberry APN is set to O2 in the UK. Now I am trying to downgrade back to 2003 to see if I can get it working there.
I can't restore from the backup I made so I have to get a ROM with blackberry, anyone who can help will be apreaciated.

I bought an orbit on Tuesday, and I'm using my Orange Sim in it until my number gets ported, so my handset is unlocked.

I have an orbit from an o2 shop. I also have my Orange sim in it untill my number gets ported. Therefore - I'd say they're unlocked!
My experience is that all O2 phones have been network-unlocked. Certainly the last 6 I have had were.

I would like to differ.. The XDA2i I had was locked to O2. I bought a XDA Exec in July. That is unlocked out of the box.. Seeing the discussion on the thread, it seems that O2 have adapted a strategy of leaving their phones unlocked for some reason..
Mine was open on all networks as I am using my T-mobile sim in it!
Playing around with a spare Virgin Mobile simcard with O2 sourced phones:
Orbit unlocked
XDA2i locked
Exec unlocked
Mini S unlocked
iPaq 6915 unlocked
Nokia 6280 unlocked
Motorola Razr unlocked
Well I've put a Virgin SIM in mine straight out of the box from O2 and it works so it's definitely unlocked. The only problem is that it says T-Mobile on the screen for network - odd!
^^They all do that sir
IME unless the phone is Virgin branded it will display T-Mobile (who Virgin lease their virtual network from).
Question for O2 Orbit users, would you recommend buying one (from ebay) for usage on T-Mobile USA's EDGE network? I am currently using a BA with WM6 but really want a phone with builtin GPS and the Tytn II is really too expensive especially as the 3G wont work on T-Mobile.
How has the hardware stood up over time? My BA is almost 3 years old and has a few knocks but still work ok. Thanks for any answers.
As far as i know, O2 phones are open and can work on any network! I have the O2 Graphite .. i ran it on my T-Mobile chip and now i got my THREE chip in it. Sure O2 Orbit will work on the T-Mobile network and you get Wi-Fi as well that T-Mobile stole from us !!
Hi,
My O2 XDA Orbit is NOT open to all networks. This is quite unlike O2 whose handsets are usually unlocked.
I've had mine since August of this year and have never had any problem with it. It came pre-installed with WM6 from the factory.
I've got all sorts of memory-intensive programs installed on it, yet it has never let me down (touch wood!). I'm very happy with it.

hey, i've got the T-Mobile MDACIII, had it for a year now, and never had any problems! still using original ROM and all holding up ok! never had to do a hard reset either
