How to Enable HTC audio manager playback on standby mode? - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

I'm using the B&B 4.3 rom. I think it is a little bit faster than the Touch 3.01 rom. But the B&B 4.3 don't like Touch 3.01, which can play music on the standby mode. So I wonder how to make the B&B 4.3 can also play music on standby mode. especially, How to Enable HTC audio manager playback on standby mode? I like this music player very much. Because the windows media player is hard to use my finger to select songs.
Thanks~~~

Your answer!
There was another audio manager question in the forum. I found it by searching:
audio manager standby , those were my exact words in the search, and I found some other posts on this topic. Apparently, if you have the program psShutXP installed on your phone, which is a really good program to have and easy to find within this site or through google, if you put the phone in standby using this program, your audio manager will continue to play the current playlist without stopping. I had the same problem, and doing this fixed, which I found funny cause I already had psSHUTXP installed, but I would press the power button on my phone to go into standby mode instead.

Upgrade to 4.3 Pro - the audio manager plays in standby mode
Or you can use these reg keys for windows media player:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ Preferences]
"UnattendedPlayback"=dword:1
"FastCacheReserve"=dword:00800000
"LocalCacheReserve"=dword:00800000

Need help with media player 10 (Xda IIs)

Hi guys....need some help. With the old version of wmp 9 i could play music whilst the PDA was off (standby, i guess) thereby saving battery power. With wmp 10 as soon as i turn it off the music stops playing.
Any ideas, or am i stuck with leaving it on when playing music???
mplayer 9 also stop playing if you turn it off
but you can turn off the screen if you set a shortcut to one button
look in mplayer10's options i'm sure it support that too
where do i get the wmp10 for xda2s?
Search the wiki for Blue Angel and you will find the latest 1.40 ROM which contains WMP 10. By the way, Gadget Boy, assign one of your hardware buttons to screen toggle like in WMP 9 and you can listen to music while the screen is off!

does anyone has the upgrade file? or anyone has extracted from the rom?

HTC WM6 PreRelease - WMP Bug

Windows Media Player Music:
If you play music using the integrated WMP - power management will not work as expected - Display light will never turn off. Still the same if you press the home button during playback.
If you lock your device during playback, backlight will be dimmed but remains on.
--> Your battery will be empty very shortly if you use your device as MP3 Player.
Windows Media Player Video:
First - landscape registry key still works.
But if you play a video in fullscreen mode you can do this only for a few seconds before it switches back to normal skin mode.
--> You cannot really view any video on your device
Please, can anyone confirm this.
Are these known bugs for HTC which are be fixed in the final release?
Are there any workarounds?
I confirm this bugs, i have Wm6 HTC Test ROM to, and the WMP have this problems.
I use now the Audio Manager and Pocket Player software.
Regards
what about using TCPMP?
do you have the same problems with it?
It's a WMP player bug inside the current HTC pre-release of WM6.
TCPMP works like expected.
confirm bug, but the battery is not so terrible..
1.) Install RUU_Excalibur_HTC_RUS_1.24.411.1_4.1.13
2.) Change Language to US
3.) Do not dock your device
4.) Start WMP and play a song
--> Backlight never will turn off
5.) Press the HOME button
--> Backlight still remains on
6.) LOCK your device
--> Backlight will be dimmed
I can reconstruct this bug very easily on 3 devices following exactly the steps above. If this doesn't happens on your device please let us know what's different.

If I use my device as MP3 player and do not lock the device --> the battery will be empty in less than 2 hours. (Full backlight - always on)
If you lock it the battery will be empty in less than 5 hours (Backlight dimmed).
So from my point of view this is a terrible bug.
using audio manager saves the day
Audio Manager Bug.... when anounce names are kept on.. the ring for mobile rings for just 2-3 secs.....
announce names is what?

has anyone found a fix for this yet?
bug fix?
Anyone have a solution to the wmp backlight problem yet? I mainly use wmp because it allows me to use my stereo bluetooth headset buttons to control the music, and works best when making calls using ms voice command.

Do you know of a media player software that keeps playing when device in standby ?

Currently I'm using Windows Media Player 10 mobile, and when the device goes to Standby (to save battery), the player stops playing.
When I had the HTC Diamond the ROM I used had a tweak in it to allow Media Player to keep playing even in standby mode.
Do you know of a way to solve this problem with Media player, or can you suggest other player that can play in standby ?
Thanks.
S2P does it
Try A_C's S2P, the best mobile media player ever.
It turns off backlight automatically and is really great to use.
Enjoy!

Kinoma Freeplay all the way, most fluid and pretty interfrace you can get.
Mortplayer!
all player will auto "shut off" music in standby mode;
ONLY when u have earpiece plug in, then it wont cut off the music.
anyway, kinoma freeplay is very buggy.. mortplayer FTW
Pocket Player 4
mate, all these players mentioned above are good, but i've always felt the whole thing getting a bit sticky when they're running.
however (not perfect either) i would recommend Pocket Player 4. is the one i been using for a few months and cooking in my own roms. it plays everything from audio to video and has full support for online streaming.
it will carry on playing as normal when you put the phone in standby and will keep backlight on if you dont press the top button.
if youre listening to online radio via network it wont drop the connection - fantastic here in the uk where some of us have unlimited data - but it will stop if you're using wifi, but this has nothing to do with the app, by default, touch hd will drop wifi connection in standby mode.
it is skin changeable and i use the windows media player one, so i use different app but at least with same face.
the only bad thing about this app is that it takes about 20-40 seconds to load and for a moment you might think it isnt loading but it is. apart from that, it's all joy.

Yes I know the TF3D works fine while in Standby, but it has a different problem.
Well, you could also try something else; use your favorite mediaplayer and let the screen be turned off when the device is faced down.
I use Gyrator to turn off the screen, no stand-by mode nessecary. When you need it be turned on again, press the on/off button.
As a slight aside, Resco Radio also works fine in standby. Just hit Disp Off.

"Display off" is not standby. There is a difference in battery usage between the two.
In standby/suspended mode the device is sleeping and all OS processes are suspended, therefore you can't have audio playback still active then.
In unattended mode, and this is what you are referring to, you can have audio playing while some other functionality is effectively disabled.
Since screen backlight is one of the major contributors to power consumption, turning the screen off is almost as good as running in unattended mode, don't exclude this option.
Sadly most players are not designed to fully take advantage of unattended mode. WMP IS aware of this mode though. However, with the variety of platforms around there's no easy way to make wave and bluetooth drivers remain operational in unattended mode.
Check out http://www.codeproject.com/KB/mobile/WiMoPower1.aspx for an article dicussing power state adjustments for various drivers in unattended mode. Be careful if you change anything, as the result may not be exactly as expected and effective power consumption may increase.
Thanks for the clarification stepw.

what needs to be done.. to work it on the new audio manager in touchflo3d??
tnx in advance..
Er. . nothing. Mine plays quite happily with the screen off
Mine doesn't I was playing music through bluetooth to the car and screen goes off and media player stops playing until I hit the power button again (I need to find out what the app name is of the media player as well so I can add it as an exception into slide to unlock)

Is that HTC media player or Windows media player?
The HTC one ( the one on the music tab) works fine streaming to my car radio with the screen off. WMP turns off with the screen tho'
I haven't found a fix for this either =( When I use my stereo bluetooth headset all is fine: I can press the power button, device goes into suspend, music keeps playing. But when I'm playing music through the speaker - as I like to do in the morning in the shower - music playback stops when pressing the power button.
I found a registry setting for the HTC audio manager (hkey\localmachine\software\htc\audiomanager_eng\config\enter_suspend) but it didn't do anything =(

It's the HTC media player (one on the tab) you don't happen to know the actual file name that is run when you select it from the tab do you?
I have the same problem with TouchFLo Music tab... power button and stop music!
I have the same problem with the built in player - Core player & Pocket music player although that freezes & generally is unstable - dunno why it was perfect on my X1.
I have a small problem (I don't think I had it before)!
when I put Music tab from TouchFlo playing and press power button the sound stops!
does it happens to you? how can I solve it?
thanks

This is the way it's meant to be.
If it's playing through speakers, the sound stops by pressing the power button. If it's playing through headphones, you can press power and it will still play.
is there anyway to change it in the registry so that we can turn the device off and still play it through the speakers. TP2 got 2 good speakers so it would be nice to leave it in the table and listen music without hearphones

I used S2U2 lastest version, run S2U2 Settings > Advanced > check on "Don't Suspend Power" > Save > Yes, and my TP2 can play music when device off

Preventing "sleep" while audio streaming?

Have had a TMO TP2 for about a month now, using the stock TMO rom, at least for now until the WinMo 6.5 stuff settles down a bit and I can make a good ROM choice.
The problem: Listening to streaming audio from the net (either over WiFi or mobile network, no difference) using either the wired or BT headset (no difference in behavior) on battery power. The phone will go to sleep and interupt the audio after the normal sleep timer expires. Only solution I have found is to keep touching the screen or other activity to keep the phone "awake", quite irritating. All other media feature operate as expected.
I use primarily Windows Media Player or Kinoma Play for the audio streaming. I have not tried to duplicate using local media files or the TF3D audio app since I don't store local media files on the phone. (have other devices and services for that, MS realease Zune software for WinMo for goodness sake!)
I used my previous WinMo phones like this with no problem (TMO Wing and MDA with various factory and cooked ROMS) with no issue like this. There seems to be a registry setting or some other tweak missing that tells the phone not to sleep when media is actively being played but I don't know where to find that setting.
Yeah, I could switch to a cooked ROM but that seems to be a "nuke it from orbit" solution when a simple "surgical strike" could do the trick.
Ideas anyone?
Have you installed the S2U2 sliding lock app?
http://www.conduits.com/products/player/
I'm having this exact same problem & have been trying to find the registry key for several weeks. I'm also assuming it's a simple registry entry as my previous Palm Treo 700wx never shut off when streaming music no matter what application I used. Now with the Touch Pro 2 it shuts off based on the control panel power settings even while streaming music. I know I can set the power option to never sleep, but if I do that my battery would drain much quicker. Also lots of times I'll forget to turn that option back on once I'm done streaming & it's very inconvenient. I'm currently using TCPMP to get around this problem, but would like to find a solution so it's not application specific.
did anyone figure this one out?
Regedit the following dword value:
Code:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\BattPowerOff
Set it to 0 and soft-reset.
I have the same problem with S2U2 installed. The reg setting is there and i set S2U2 not to kill the power when locking.
Try this, It works with Pandora for me.

This is what the cab a few posts back actually changes.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Unattended]
"wav1:"=dword:00000000

Thanks! Good to know. A very simple registry edit.
I havent used this but has anyone used this when not using a wav file and has it gone to sleep. I just use "turn the light off" cab and screen lock combo to stream.
